《A Second Chance At Romance》Seven

Monday's.
The day I dreaded the most after the weekend. It was the day I had to return to work and Lexi had to go to daycare. Thankfully I didn't have to be at work until a little later
I was the one who didn't want to get up this morning, on the other hand, was the one who came into my room at six to wake me up.
Heck, I'm the mother I'm supposed to be the one to wake her up.
But she did it instead and before I knew it I was getting up and ready for the day.
"Mama, let's goooooo." She sang coming into my room just as I was finishing up my makeup.
"Give me just a second."
I applied the last little bit of mascara before sitting it on the counter in the bathroom and shutting off the light. Lexi was sitting on my bed when I came in and when she had seen me her face lit up no doubt happy that I was finished. Before we could actually leave I had to fix her some breakfast which was an easy one this morning, all she wanted was Lucky Charms cereal.
While she ate I made myself a cup of coffee and poured some into a mug and then took a seat at the table with her. As I drank the coffee my mind immediately went back to Liam just because the coffee reminded me of him it was a constant reminder of what happened a week ago when I spilled it all over him.
However, that wasn't the only thing I was thinking about though it was also the phone number that I was keeping in the back of my case.
Ever since his sister gave it to me it's like it's been burning a hole in my pocket just waiting to be used.

Hell even if I used it I wouldn't know what to say.
I mean he'd probably just assume that I asked for it from his sister.
Yeah, there's no way I'm going to text him now but I will keep the number just in case I change my mind in the future.
Drinking the last little bit of coffee left in my cup I got up and rinsed it out placing it in the sink.
"You almost ready sweetheart?" I asked her as she finished up the last little bit of cereal in her bowl.
"Yep, let's go."
Placing a kiss on the top of her head I leaned down and grabbed her bowl placing it in the sink before heading out the door and towards my car.
The drive to daycare was interesting, to say the least, all because Lexi had been talking nonstop about her friends who she was ready to see.
"I can't wait to see Ellie!" she went on, "maybe she'll want to come over for a sleepover this weekend."
"What a good idea! Why don't you ask and I'll call her mom later today!"
"Okay!"
Pulling up to the daycare I noticed a familiar car in the parking lot which belonged to Mason.
What is he doing here?
I didn't know he was coming at all. I thought he'd at least let me know if he was going to be here.
"Daddy's here!"
"He sure is," I said with a hint of annoyance in my voice.
Putting the car into park I got out and went around to open up Lexi's door as she got out and rushed over to him while he began approaching us and with Carmen nonetheless.
I mean does she have to follow him around like a lost puppy all the time?

Surely he's not going to put her before Lexi!
"Hey, Mason. What are you doing here?"
A little taken back by my question he turned to me and said, "What do you mean what am I doing here? I'm her dad should I really have an explanation?"
"Besides I just wanted to come apologize to Lexi about the other day."
"And you couldn't have called?"
Ignoring my question altogether he bent down and started apologizing to Lexi who accepted his apology without any hesitation and gave him a hug to show it was fine.
"Daddy, will you walk me into daycare?" She asked Mason before turning to me, "can he mama?"
Who was I to tell her no?
"Of course, he can baby. I'll see you after work, okay?"
"Okay, mama."
Before Lexi went inside she came over to me and hugged me and then headed into the building with Mason.
Leaving me alone outside with Carmen who just stood waiting for him was my cue to leave. I was getting into my car when Carmen approached the car and knocked on the passenger window.
What could she possibly want?
Rolling it down I looked at her and waited for her to say something until she finally did.
"Hey listen I know things are a little weird between the both of us ever since y'know.." she trailed off and then continued, "but I would like it if we could be on some sort of good terms."
Is she serious?
Maybe later on but I just wasn't ready to be on "friendly" terms with her.
"Especially since I'm carrying Lexi's half-sibling."
Was that supposed to persuade my decision in any way?
And of course, she had to tell me she was pregnant while I'm already upset.
"Okay."
She didn't know how to respond to that so she backed away and by the time she did Mason walked out of the building and she went over to him and planted a kiss on his cheek before they left.
What a horrible day so far and it ain't even nine.
