《A Second Chance At Romance》Six

After the whole ordeal with Liam and his sister we finally made it over to the Elephants and Lexi couldn't have been more excited. When we walked up to the fence we noticed that they were all in the water due to the hot summer heat.

They were in fact huge and very unique animals.

"Aren't they pretty mama?" Lexi asked as she continued looking at them admiring every single one.

"They sure are!"

While we stood there looking at the Elephants with a few other people my mom stepped a little closer to me and said, "So when did that happen?"

I should've known she'd bring up what happened back there sooner or later. Although I knew what she was talking about I wanted to act dumb so it wouldn't be that big of a deal.

"When did what happen?" I asked earning a serious look from her letting me know that she wasn't stupid.

"Don't play dumb Savannah. I saw you two back there and let me tell you I saw the chemistry and I can clearly tell he's attracted to you."

I was just about to say something but she stepped a little closer to me and in a low voice said, "You and Liam looked at one another like you wanted to rip each other's clothes off."

Immediately after she said that I gasped.

Did my mother seriously just say that?

It was really embarrassing and weird to hear that coming from my mother.

Also, I was not attracted to Liam at all.

Nor did we have "chemistry"

Although he does have a cute smile and kind eyes and gosh don't even get me started on those muscles.

See you're attracted to him!

Pushing that certain thought out of my mind I turned back to my mom and responded to what she had said.

"First of all don't ever say that again that's just gross. Second of all, we do not have chemistry because he and I just met a week ago. And I can tell you right now he does not find me attractive."

"Fine I won't say it again, but how do you know he doesn't find you attractive?"

I just had a feeling he didn't.

Something deep down was telling me so.

Obviously, Mason didn't find me attractive and we were married so what makes me think that a guy I just met would?

I honestly haven't felt beautiful or attractive in a long time...

I could tell her how I really felt or I can just avoid the whole thing and lie about it. I don't even want to get her worked up about Mason especially not in front of Lexi.

So the only obvious solution was to just steer clear of his name.

"I don't know I just have a feeling."

Thankfully that was the end of the conversation as my mom didn't want to go back and forth due to the fact she knew I'd keep denying it.

At some point, while we were talking Lexi started talking to another little girl who was also there to see the elephants.

They both looked like they were enjoying their conversation so didn't want to interrupt the two of them therefore I let them talk while my mom and I just stepped away and took a seat on a bench next to them.

We were sitting there in silence for a minute or two until I heard her say, "Our girl sure does make friends everywhere she goes."

Glancing over at Lexi I smiled before looking back to my mom.

"She sure does."

Lexi's very talkative and friendly, it's no wonder why she's always making friends. She definitely got that from me and not Mason.

"You know she reminds me a lot of you. I remember when you were little you'd always make friends everywhere you went and as soon as you would you'd ask your father and me if we'd let them spend the night with you."

"And then when we'd tell you no you'd always get so upset."

Thinking back to my childhood brought back so many memories and made me realize it was so much better only because I had actual friends. These days I only have two which include June from work and my best friend from college; Emma.

I really did miss those days.

Although I'm not able to hang out with Emma as much as I'd like since she just had a baby recently and is focusing her attention on him which I completely understand.

"Speaking of being upset, how do you feel about Lexi starting kindergarten in the fall?"

This was something I wasn't looking forward to.

"To be honest I'm not ready at all but I know she is so I'm going to try and think positive."

There were only a few more weeks left and I was going to spend all the time I could with her.

"You're a strong woman I know you'll be okay. Besides it's normal to feel that way because I felt the exact same when you and your brother started kindergarten."

She got a little emotional as she continued, "but after I picked you both up you told me all about how you loved it and that you had already made new friends. And that made me realize it wasn't a big deal after all since you got to be with kids your own age."

"Thanks, mom. I love you." I said leaning forward and hugging her.

"I love you too!"

As we were in the middle of hugging I felt a pair of small arms wrap around me.

"Don't leave me out!" Lexi said making me chuckle as I pulled away and pulled her into a big hug.

"We won't. Not ever."

Both mom and I engulfed her in another hug staying like that for a minute.

This moment right here was something I'd cherish. I wouldn't trade this moment for anything.

Lexi and my mom made today the best day ever... and maybe Liam did too.
