"Grandma? Are you coming to the zoo with us?" Lexi asked as soon as we walked through the front door.

"Duh! I wouldn't miss it for the world." I heard her call out from the living room as she walked over to greet us.

We all three were then sitting in my mom's living room talking and hanging out with one another before we went to the zoo. Lexi was ready to go but we kept telling her to have some patience which didn't always work out well.

"Yay, 'cause I'm ready to go see the elephants." She informed my mom who looked at her happily as she always did.

That kid sure loves her elephants.

"That's amazing Lex."

After keeping her waiting long enough we left for the zoo and she was ready and excited. A part of the reason why we decided to go now was that Lexi would calm down a bit.

On the drive, mom and I talked while she watched a movie on my phone.

"Why don't you girls stay the night? You both can stay in your old room."

"I'll think about it."

Of course on the drive mom started to question why Mason sent Lexi home early and so here I was about to explain it.

"I just don't understand why he'd cut his time short with his only daughter."

My mom and I told each other everything and so she already knew about him and Carmen. When she found out she was pissed still to this day she hates him. When we first got together my mom adored him but not anymore.

"He had to take Carmen to the ER or something like that."

Cutting me off she said, "why on earth for? She couldn't go herself?"

"I'm pretty sure she's pregnant mom."

I could tell by the stunned look on her face that she was not expecting that.

"What a low-life piece of shit!" She whispered angrily low enough for just her and I to hear. "I can't believe that crap, but how do you know?"

"Mom please don't say that in case she can hear us and I know because Lexi mentioned it last night so I just assumed Carmen was."

"I'm so sorry that you have to deal with this sweetheart."

"It's okay I'm over it. He can do whatever he wants it's not my problem anymore."

Just talking about it drove me crazy but I didn't need to let it get to me especially not in front of my mom.

"That's my girl! You're one of the strongest people I know and I hope one day you find someone who's going to treat you right."

When she said that my mind immediately went to the guy from the coffee shop; Liam.

He sure is hot.

The only thing about it was I don't think I was ready for a relationship and I doubt he'd even be interested if I was.

Didn't mean I couldn't look though.

"Hello, earth to Savannah." I heard my mom say snapping me out of my thoughts causing me to turn toward her.

"I'm sorry what did you say?"

"I asked if you have any plans on getting out there and finding someone else."

"Not at the moment. After Mason, I don't think I'm ready to jump right into another. He and I were together for years."

When she started on one thing she never stopped. Mom usually went on and on about something until it eventually died down. Besides I just got out of a relationship so there was no way I was going to jump into another as Mason did.

"There's no rush anyways I was just asking. I'm just going to tell you if you do date another man I think that your father will do a thorough background check and probably threaten him with his shotgun as he did with your first boyfriend."

Oh gosh, I hope not I'm not sixteen anymore and that would be embarrassing like it was then. Just thinking about it was embarrassing.

I had a terrified look on my face as I replied, "Then I guess I just won't tell you both."

I was kidding obviously and besides, I'm sure my dad wouldn't go that far.

"Oh, I'm sure you will."

After about fifteen more minutes we finally pulled up to the zoo which was crowded with families everywhere. It wasn't a problem though it was nice to see families out spending time with one another compared to some who didn't like going out.

"We're here!!" I heard Lexi shout from the backseat as she bounced around ready to get out and explore.

She sure has a lot of energy that I wish I had.

"We sure are Lex." My mom said looking back at her while I unbuckled my seat belt and got out of the car opening the back door to get Lexi out.

"Hurry up mama!"

"I'm coming," I said grabbing ahold of her hand and walking towards the entrance with my mom beside me.

At the gate, we paid and entered going towards the West Loop which contained the reptiles, birds, and the Grasslands Africa which included some of Africa's most iconic animals. That part was what Lexi was looking forward to the most. The first stop however was the bears and she was not interested at all only to say that they were scary.

Moving on we reached the birds where she was intrigued especially with the Parrots.

"Look at the pretty colors on it." Lexi pointed toward the bird in awe.

"I know ain't it cute."

"Look at that one right there." My mom added squatting down to show her the Flamingoes.

"They are pink! I love pink."

She admired them some more as she kept telling me to get her one. Lexi would have a whole zoo if I got her every animal she ever wanted.

"Guess what's next?" My mom asked Lexi who already knew as she smiled brightly ready to get a move on.

"Elephants!" She said excitedly starting to walk on without me but I hurried towards her before I could catch get to Lexi I ran right into someone falling on my butt.

"It's you!" I heard someone say as a hand reached out to help me up which I gratefully excepted.

Once I got up with the person's help I noticed exactly who it was and I instantly smiled.

It was definitely a good idea to come to the zoo!
