《A Second Chance At Romance》Three

"What are we doing today? I asked looking over at Lexi who was sitting at the table while I made her some pancakes.

I was off this weekend so since she wasn't at her dad's anymore I decided that she and I could do whatever she wanted.

"Uh, can we go to grandma's and then go to the zoo?"

"I'm not sure what grandma has planned, but I can call her and see." I told her as I flipped the pancakes, "then we can go to the zoo."

That made her cheer up because we hadn't been to the zoo in a while and she loves animals. She always wanted a dog but Mason didn't want one around so we never gifted her one.

"Yay! I want to see the elephants!"

She sure was fascinated with elephants I think that's her favorite animal besides dogs.

"You'll get to! Why don't we eat breakfast and get dressed then we can leave?"

"Okay, mama."

Placing her heart-shaped pancakes on her plate I put some syrup on them as she began to eat. After giving her a drink I sat down with mine and began to eat.

This morning I felt a little better after the night I had and it was great. I concluded that I shouldn't worry about Mason but instead focus on myself and Lexi.

While eating I pulled out my phone and dialed my mom's number hoping she'd answer. Hopefully, I wasn't bothering her. It rang only two times before she picked up the phone sounding happy to hear from me.

"Savannah! It's good to hear from you. What have you been up to?"

"Oh, nothing just sitting here eating breakfast with Lexi."

I know as soon as I told her that Lexi was with me she'd question me immediately about why she wasn't at Mason's and I didn't want to explain it.

"Why?"

Called it!

"That's not important. I was just calling to see what you were doing today?"

"Nothing I was thinking about going to your brother's to see him but I'm not sure yet."

She can go see Jeremiah another day I was going to visit her today.

"Actually can we come to visit? Lexi wants to come see you and then go to the zoo."

"Of course, y'all can! I'd love to have some company since your dad is out of town on his guy's trip. He knows when he leaves me alone I get lonely."

"I know, Ma. We just have to get ready and then we'll be that way."

"Okay, dear. I'll see you soon love you!"

"Love you too."

With that, I hung up the phone and continued eating until I was finally done. Once Lexi had finished she and I headed up the stairs and I helped her get a bath as we sang Frozen songs.

"Let it go, let it go!" She sang happily as she played around with the bubbles waiting for me to sing the next lyrics.

"Can't hold it back anymore."

"Let it go, let it go!"

By now I knew all the lyrics by heart because she's seen it about twenty or more times. I'm pretty sure every child has at least seen it once.

"Turn away and slam the door." I kept on until I knew she was nice and clean and she had enough of the singing. I grabbed the bath towel and helped her out as I wrapped the towel around her small body.

Lexi climbed out with my help and began to sing quietly to herself as she dried off.

"Mama, I think I want to wear my new dress."

"You sure you want to wear your new dress to the zoo?" I asked hoping she'd say no just because she gets things dirty easily.

"Yes!"

"Okay, dress it is!"

Oh well if she gets it dirty I'll just wash it. I want her to have a fun day, so I'll let her wear it if she wants.

"Yay!" She said excitingly as she threw off the towel and ran into her room to get the dress out of the closet with my help.

"I'll look like a princess!"

"Yes, you will baby."

When I said the word baby she gave me a mad look crossing her arms across her chest as she said, "Mama, I'm not a baby I'm five remember?"

"No matter how old you are you'll always be my baby," I confessed with a smile wanting her to know that.

"Okay!"

That was all she said as she put on her dress and then her shoes. Once she was dressed I put on one of her favorite shows before I left her alone so that I could take a shower.

Grabbing my clothes out of the closet I went into the bathroom and did what I needed. It only took me about ten minutes to take a shower before I got out.

Since I washed my hair I quickly blow-dried it and then put it up in a messy bun before putting on my clothes. My makeup was speared from the shower so I wiped it off and applied some makeup to make me look somewhat attractive not that I cared about what people thought.

Walking back into Lexi's room I announced that it was time to go so she gathered up her teddy that she took everywhere with her and headed out of her room and downstairs while I turned the tv off and followed behind her.

Before we went to my car I gathered up my stuff and we left. For the next hour, Lexi and I would be jamming out to Disney songs with no care in the world.
