《A Second Chance At Romance》One

"Mama, when is daddy coming?" Lexi asked me for the hundredth time since we've been at the bakery.
"Soon baby. We still have fifteen minutes before he's supposed to meet us." I told her as I glanced at my watch, "While we wait what do you want to eat and drink.?"
"Muffin and orange juice!"
"Okay, I'll be right back."
Walking up to the counter I ordered two blueberry muffins, a coffee, and a juice. After ordering everything the cashier bagged it up and told me the total as I handed her the money.
"Keep the change," I told her as I grabbed the bag and went back over to the table. On my way back to the table Mason came in and when I saw who he was with I was stunned, to say the least.
Of course, it was Carmen.
How long had this been going on?
He told me when he first cheated on me with her that he wouldn't get back with her but that was a lie.
"Daddy!" She giggled catching his attention.
Letting go of Carmen's hand he walked right over to Lexi and picked her up placing kisses all over her face.
"Princess!"
The scene in front of me was so sweet yet so sad. Oh, how I wish we were still a happy family.
While Mason and Lexi talked Carmen thought it would be okay to come over to me and talk.
"They are just so cute!" she said taking in the sight of them.
"Uh-huh."
Instead of carrying on a conversation with her I took a seat and started eating my muffin. I was a little sad as I sat there because Lexi will be with Mason for the rest of the week and every time she left I felt alone. The house was quiet and I didn't like it one bit.

After we decided to separate and file for divorce he decided that I could have the house and so that's where I live while he lives in a small house about 15 minutes away from mine.
The house may have had a bad memory but it had a ton of great memories and I don't think I'd want to move. Although I did replace and get rid of the bed and everything in my room.
Before they left Lexi ate her food while Mason took her things to his car and then went to run an errand next door. When she was done and he was finally back they got ready to leave.
"Say bye to mom." He told her as he helped her down from the chair.
Before she said goodbye she walked over to me and stretched out her arms for me as I kneeled on the ground and embraced her in a hug trying my hardest not to cry.
I gave her a kiss on the head saying, "I love you, baby."
"I love you too!"
Before I let him leave I turned to him and said, "If anything happens let me know."
"I will don't worry."
And with that, they were gone leaving me alone in the bakery. I had to get to work soon so I finished up eating and started to leave. With my coffee in hand, I started towards the door or at least tried to until I tripped over my own foot causing me to fall. As a result, I spilled my coffee in the process.
Oh shit!
I was waiting to come into contact with the ground but instead, a guy with muscular arms caught me. He was really attractive so that made this whole thing a lot more awkward.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry! I'm so clumsy and oh my I spilled my coffee all over you, are you okay? Here let me give you some money to get your clothes dry cleaned." I said rambling on until he chuckled causing me to give him a confused look.

Why's he laughing?
"Calm down it's okay. It's not every day I get to run into someone as pretty as you even when they spill hot coffee on me."
I was so embarrassed but intrigued by him because he was able to turn this embarrassing moment into a chance to compliment my appearance.
"Besides no need to pay me for dry cleaning I've got something to change into before I go to work and these don't need no fancy cleaning I can do it all at home."
"Oh well good because I would've felt really bad, but thanks for the compliment." I smiled earning a smile from him in return, "how about I buy you a coffee instead?"
"Deal."
And so I went back up to the counter and bought him a coffee.
"I'm Liam by the way." He introduced himself as he stretched out his hand to shake mine while I did the same.
"Savannah."
"Nice to meet you Savannah."
"You too!"
I was so caught up in the moment with him that I didn't even notice what time it was. Oh no, I'm late for work!
"Uh I'd hate to cut this chat short but I'm late for work."
"No problem, go ahead. I'm sorry for making you late."
"It's not your fault I'm the one who held you up by spilling coffee on you. But I'll see you around, Liam."
And with that, I was out the door and towards the hospital hoping I didn't get in trouble that's the last thing I needed.
The entire time I was at work though all I could think about was Liam. He sure was handsome he had the most beautiful green eyes and my gosh those muscles! And his jet black hair was styled perfectly making him 10x hotter!
Ah, what was I saying I don't need to think about another guy or get into another relationship. Certainly not after how my first one went.
"Something on your mind Savannah?" My coworker June asked me as she and I sat in the break room.
"More like someone," I confessed.
"Oh, you've got to spill."
And so I did leave nothing out and by the end, she looked like she was going to burst out of her seat. She's been wanting me to find someone ever since she found out about Mason cheating. I'm just not sure that I'm ready or if I'll ever be ready.
"That sounds so romantic!"
"Did you even hear me say that I spilled hot coffee on him? It was anything but romantic. Although it was sweet when he called me pretty. It's just been so long since I've heard a compliment like that. Mason wasn't the complimenting type."
Just the mention of his name made her blood boil. She couldn't stand him and certainly not after everything.
"That's because Mason's an asshole and I'd like to tell him that whenever I see him." She said while pointing her fork at me before taking another bite of her salad that sat on the table.
"Tell him for the both of us will ya?" I laughed before continuing, "I would but he's Lexi's father and I just don't want to say anything bad to him."
"Girl I got you!"
I don't know what I'd do without her! She's truly my best friend in the whole world well besides my daughter.
