😗sorry for any mistakes

21-year-old Justice sighed pushing back from his 5-year-old daughter—Sarai as she cried harder and harder in his arms. "It's okay Angel" His larger hands wiped the tears from her face.

Sarai's big light brown teary eyes looked up at her father before she looked away and started crying even more, only hurting Justice's heart.

Sarai is a very overly dramatic child if her parents could say. She was a very sweet child but once her feelings were hurt, she did the most.

She was only 5 so the young parents had to be very patient and gentle with her because of how sensitive she was. Yelling or being mean would just make things worse for her and they didn't want to enforce that on her.

"Bubba, maybe we should say forget today and try again tomorrow" Nicole pouted, hating seeing her baby in this much distress for her first day of 1st grade.

Justice sighed again, standing up straight from kneeling down to Sarai's height before picking his daughter up. Once in her father's arms, she wrapped her small arms around his neck as tight as she could, not wanting to let go.

"We can't, it's gonna be the same thing tomorrow mama" He rubbed Sarai back. She started to calm down slightly but still silently crying, not wanting to leave either of her parents.

He knew they were going to deal with this every day if they didn't make her go today. With Nicole in cosmetology school and him in just getting his truck license to be a truck driver, they couldn't do this every day.

A pout stayed on Nicole's face as she walked behind him to look at Sarai's face. She reached up to wipe the tears from her eyes "But she's so sad and she's about to make me cry" Nicole sighed, feeling awful.

Sarai being sad or crying always got to her. Sarai wasn't much of a sad child and always giggling, her tears hurt both of her parents in a different way that they couldn't explain.

Justice chuckled at his girlfriend knowing the emotional side of Sarai comes from her mom. Nicole was very sensitive, her feelings got hurt over the smallest things.

Just like Sarai

"She gon' be aight. Ain' dat right Angel?" He kissed her cheek.

"No" Sarai grumbled, making him and Nicole laugh at the little attitude she now had. She didn't find anything funny though, Sarai really didn't want to go.

This wasn't her first time in big kid school since she was in daycare when she was 3 but this is her first time in a new school environment.

They just moved to a new house meaning Ray had to move schools. She didn't make any friends at her old school either because other kids were mean in her eyes. She doesn't like being around other kids because they're mean and didn't like her.

They always took her things or were mean when she tried to share with them but they didn't say thank you or even smile. They just snatched things from her or told her to get out of their face after they had already taken whatever she tried to share.

This was a new primary school and a lot bigger than her old one. Everyone was a new face to her and she was scared she wasn't going to make friends again.

She was scared she was going to be the 'Weird' girl again. Just like other kids used to call her.

She just wanted to stay with her mom and dad all day as she did over the summer since it didn't seem like she got along with other kids.

Sarai frowned, noticing they were walking down the 1st hall with teachers greeting kids and parents. Some kids ran with friends about how excited they were to see them after the long summer. Other kids were just as sad as Ray to leave their Guardian.

They walked up to the last classroom in the hall with a black male teacher talking to a parent already. Justice eyed him for a second then let his eyes scan the inside of the classroom from outside of the door. He was surprised that her teacher was male.

Most of the primary and elementary teachers were women.

Sarai hid her face in her dad's neck, even more, when she heard other kids and when they stopped in front of a classroom. "Look Angel, it's other kids and— Now you kno' she'on care 'bout nun of that '' Justice cut Nicole off, laughing. Nicole chuckled a little knowing he was right.

Nicole never understood why Ray was unable to get along with other kids her age. It was as if she had a hard time talking to them. She had a hard time talking to anyone besides her mom and dad.

She was such a sweet little girl and always cared about others. Justice didn't understand it either, he hoped nobody was bullying his little angel because he fought kids.

"C'mon Angel. It's not gonna be that bad, these kids look nice, see" He said, trying to turn her around but she wasn't going and held him tighter. "They aren't going to like me daddy" She whispered to him, getting sad again as she looked down the hall and it started to clear up.

"That's not true. You won't know unless you try. If you don't like it, I'll come get you" He said truthfully. Justice didn't play any of those games when it came to his daughter's comfort. He knew right now she just didn't want to go because she wanted to stay with them but it only took one call from the school for him and his girlfriend to come get their baby girl.

Sarai started to lift her head from his shoulder "You promise?" She asked softly, looking at him with her big light brown eyes. He smiled at her looking nothing like him except color eyes and medium size nose. Everything else she got from her mom and she looked just as beautiful.

"I pinky promise. We can get ice cream after school too" He watched her eyes light up and a smile finally grow on her face. "Really? You mean it?!" She asked excitedly then looked at her mom who just couldn't help but smile.

Nicole nodded "Yep and we'll get seafood. We gonna use daddy's card" She clapped excitedly, making Sarai's smile grow even bigger.

Justice just sucked his teeth and shook his head with a smile still on his face. "Okay! Put me down pretty please" Sarai asked politely. He chuckled, doing as told.

Nicole quickly pulled a baby wipe out of her purse to wipe the dried-up tears from Sarai's face. After she cleaned up her face, she put a little vaseline back on her face since she just wiped it off.

"I love you so so so much Angel" She kissed her little cheek causing her to giggle "I love you too mommy!" She beamed, seeming happier than when they first got there. She was only excited for the end of the day to come so she could get her ice cream and food.

"And what about me? I'm the one getting you ice cream" Justice playfully rolled his eyes at her. She giggled before jumping on his legs "I love you too! A lot a lot " She nodded eagerly while looking up at his tall figure.

He smiled down at her before picking her up to kiss her cheeks so that he didn't have to bend down anymore "I love you more angel. Go in thea' and be yourself. If they don't like you, fuck 'em and they bitch ass mama" He accidentally cursed, going overboard while Nicole laughed at him being 100% serious.

Sarai frowned "Daddy that's a no-no. Bad words" She shook her head while he put her back down on the floor. He had a yikes facial expression "Daddy sorry. And it won't happen again" He chuckled, fixing her white polo shirt.

"Hey, how y'all doin'. I'm Mr.James, I'm sorry for keepin' y'all wait fa' so long" The tall, young darkskin with light brown locs pulled back into a ponytail and smiled once he walked over to greet the three. He looked like he was in his mid 20's with his blueberry glass on.

Sarai just smiled up at him, he was very handsome as her mom tells her to call males.

"Hi, we're goin' good," Nicole said politely, fixing Sarah's curly puff ponytail. Mr.James smiled back at Sarai since she was still looking at him, he bent down to her level "And what is your name beautiful?" He asked.

"Sarai Khiouri Bills. It's Sarai with an I not a Y " She said proudly and just like her mom and dad taught her. They always taught her to be proud of who she was.

"Sarai is such a beautiful name. I'm Mr. James and is going ta' be your teacher for the year. Are you ready for 1st grade?" He asked.

A slight frown came across her face "No" She mumbled, remembering why she didn't want to be there in the first place.

"Me either but we gonna have a blast" He smiled, making her giggle a little. He reminds her of her uncle who always tried to make things better even when they sounded boring.

"I want to talk to your parents for a little bit, is that okay? It's okay to say no if it's not" He said. Nicole and Justice got a little excited from the little interaction the two were having. They were glad he was around trying to make her comfortable and being considerate of her feelings and wants.

He was also black so that made them feel even better.

This was honestly Mr. James's second year being a 1st grade teacher. He learned from his first year being considered to a child's feelings was probably the most important thing. It gave them that comfortability since they have to try to trust you in a way.

He wanted to give his students a say so in most of the time they do. No matter if they were just 5 years old, they were people with feelings and he never wanted to invalidate them.

No matter if it's over something small.

Sarai looked behind her at her parents, as badly as she didn't want to, she knew she had to go. She had to go so she could get her ice cream and food later and possibly a lot of snacks and candy.

She turned back around to Mr.James and nodded slowly "Yes it's okay" She said softly. He nodded "Okay, Can you go into the class for me and look for your first and last name on a name tag and I'll be right in okay?" He explained.

She nodded "Yes sir," She said before turning around on her heels to go back to her parents to say bye. Nicole was getting a little emotional but tried to keep a brave look on.

She and Justice both knew she was going to be crying on their way out.

After she said her byes to her parents, she nervously walked into the classroom with her purple lunch bag in her hand and her purple book bag on her shoulder. She looked around the big classroom, children were sitting at tables talking and some were sitting alone.

She started biting on her bottom lip, feeling nervousness rush through her little body. She started taking small breaths to calm herself down as she and her dad practiced.

She walked to the first empty table, not seeing her name. She walked to the second table with only two girls sitting at it, she tried not to look at them while they eyeballed her. She didn't see her name again so she quickly walked to the third table filled with three boys already sitting.

One of them was already mugging her but she tried to ignore it. She looked at the last empty spot at the table, seeing her name big and bright in the yellow highlighter color. She huffed, wishing she got a table where she was alone.

All the boys looked at her while she took her matching purple book bag off. She pulled the navy blue chair out, putting her bookbag on the back of it before sitting down at the tan color desk then putting her lunchbox in front of her.

They all sat there awkwardly looking between them all. Sarai looked down to fix the tan color skirt she had on. The boy in front of her with the fresh cut and very handsome facial features continued to mug her. She didn't like it so she sat up to look over to see what his name was, to politely ask him to stop looking at her like that.

"Se-m— Stop being weird" He cut her off from sounding his name out and covered his name tag with his smaller hands. She frowned a bit.

The darkskin boy with the started locs who sat beside him sucked his teeth "She was just tryin' to say your name" He furrowed his eyebrows.

"I didn't ask JB. She should ask instead of being weird" He shrugged, looking her up and down. Sarai just wanted to run out of the class already at him being mean.

He was hurting her feelings even more calling her weird.

"Whatever. Wassup sweet thanggg, I'm Jamal but everyone calls me JB'' Jamal smirked at her while wiggling his eyebrows.

Her frown turned up into a smile "Hi! I'm Sarai Khiouri Bills. That's Sarai with an I not a Y" She beamed making them all look at her funny and her smile slowly but surely started to fade.

"Weirdo. He didn't even ask for allat" Semaj continued to mug her. He only didn't like her because she was a girl and girls have cooties. He also didn't like her sitting with him and his friends that have known each other since 1 year old.

"I'm sorry" Sarai mumbled, playing with the handle of her lunchbox. She wanted to cry at him being mean without her even doing much.

"Stop being mean Maj. You gonna make her cry" The light skin boy next to her spoke up, rolling his eyes.

"Righttt" Jamal agreed, shaking his head at his friend only for Semaj to roll his eyes. "That's Kentrell but we call him Rell and this is Semaj but we call him Maj" He nodded, making a small smile come across her face.

"Don't tell her my name. I don't like her. She a weirdo" Semaj said still with a mug on his face.

Sarai quickly looked down as tears burned her eyes. She now wanted to go home. She didn't know why she didn't like him calling her a weirdo but it really hurt her feelings since she was just trying to be herself like her dad told her to be.

She quickly wiped the tear from her face that slipped. Semaj felt a little bad down seeing her crying. But he kept the same mug on his face.

"Don't be sad, friend. He's just an angry bitch" Trell slightly hugged her and she gasped before looking over at him in shock at his choice of words.

"Ya mammy" Semaj smarted, making Jamal laugh, showing the gap in the front of his teeth.

"Nigga you don't even have a mom. Niggas wit' no moms do too much" Jamal laughed making Sarai gasp and put her hand over her mouth at his choice of word.

"Mal, that's a no-no. Don't say those words. You too Rell" She frowned looking in between the top who just kept laughing.

"At Least my mom alive somewhere while yo' daddy dead" Semaj bucked at Jamal causing Sarai's jaw to drop at how mean that was.

"That nigga deserved to die. At least that's what my mama says" He shrugged making all three of the boys start to laugh while Sarai just looked at them confusedly, wondering why that was funny.

It was very mean in her opinion.

"Aww cheer up friend" Jamal smiled again at her. A small smile started to grow on her face "We're friends? Really?" She asked excitedly.

They were her first ever friends and she couldn't wait to tell her parents and her uncle after school.

Semaj scoffed "No. Go get your own friends. These are mine" He mugged her. He was very selfish and territorial over his friends. They were his friends only and he didn't want to share since that meant less attention on him.

Sarai started pouting "We can all be friends. Why don't you want to be my friend? I got cookies" She said. She really wanted to be their friend, she never had any before. She always has to play alone and she doesn't want that anymore, especially since she is an only child.

Her dolls didn't talk back like she thought and it always made her sad.

All three of them perked up at the sound of cookies "What kind?" Jamal asked.

She slightly smiled, opening up the lunchbox that her mom packed with consisted of 10 Chicken nuggets that she had to ask Mr. James to heat up at lunchtime. Red bag of Doritos, and 2 oreo cookies that were left in the house. Homemade yogurt with fruits and granola pieces, two Caprisuns, and 3 small airheads.

She took the Oreos out, breaking one apart after looking to see Mr.James talking to different parents outside the classroom. She gave the two broken ones to Jamal and Kentrell. She broke the second cookie before handing one half to Semaj.

He stared at the cookie for a moment, surprised she was even sharing. He would never share his oreo cookies but that was just him. "Thank you" He mumbled, taking the cookie.

She smiled slightly and nodded "So that means we're all friends right?" She asked with a big smile while looking at all three of them.

Jamal nodded "You cool in my book sweet thang," He said making her squeal that she has friends now before they all ate their cookies.

None of them would have known that a simple gesture of sharing cookies would have turned into them being locked in for life.
