ristan sat at his desk in deep thought. His accountant had informed him that twenty million had gone missing from the business account.

"That can't be right," he said to himself.

Tristan was so deep in thought that he didn't see Max knock and walk into the office.

"Man, what's going on? I heard from the account that twenty million is missing from our account."

Tristan glanced at his friend, noticing how serious he looked.

"I don't know. I know I sent you the two million, but there's no way I would send twenty million by mistake," Tristan said, sighing.

Max sat down in the chair in front of Tristan's desk.

"Did you have them investigate?"

"Yeah, and they said that transaction happened from my laptop but I know damn well I didn't send that amount."

Max frowned. "Do they know what account it was sent to?"

"Some offshore account. I don't understand."

"We need to have them investigate more. Shit's not adding up."

Tristan nodded his head in agreement.

"I told them to keep looking into that offshore account to see if they can find out who's account it is. It's my fault for being so lax with my security."

Max shook his head. "Nah, hackers are getting smarter at hacking people's accounts. It's not your fault. We'll find out who it is.."

"I hope we can get it all back. We need that money for our next business venture."

"I hope so too. Let's go get lunch and take our minds off this for a bit," Max said, standing up.

Tristan stood up too. "How's Chinese food sound?"

"Cool with me."

Tristan and Max left his office for the elevator and he couldn't shake off the nagging feeling that something wasn't right.

Tristan had come home late. He checked on Nadia to make sure she was asleep. She was hugging a teddy bear so he tucked her in and made sure her night light was on before closing her door.

He then walked toward Nina's room. She was acting weird around him and he wanted to know why. He didn't want to pressure her into telling him. He hoped that she would just let him know by opening up more.

Tristan knocked on her bedroom door. He waited a couple of seconds before she opened the door. He smiled down at her when she smiled up at him. He stopped smiling when he saw that her eyes were red.

"Come in," she said, motioning with her hand.

Tristan's stepped inside and turned towards her. Nina smoothed down her lilac gown, while not looking at him.

"Nina, what's going on?" he asked, stepping closer to her.

He watched her pick at her gown while still not looking up at him.

"Nothing. Why do you keep asking me that?" He heard some irritation in her voice.

Tristan sighed trying to keep his emotions in check. "I'm asking because you've been acting strange."

She finally looked up at him. "No, I haven't. I told you I've just been tired and on my period."

"Why are you lying to me?"

She frowned. "I don't have to tell you everything that's going on in my life."

Tristan glared. "So, that's how you feel?"

Nina shrugged.

"Fine," he said.

He turned away from her. He needed to leave before he said something that he would regret.

He opened and slammed the door closed. He stalked towards his bedroom and slammed his door shut. He pulled back his covers and laid down under the covers.

Today just wasn't his day. He settled further under the covers closing his eyes. He breathed evenly trying to understand how he had lost money and was now arguing with Nina.

They were getting along great until a couple of days ago. She was hiding something from him and he wanted to know what it was.

Tristan nodded off until he heard his cell phone ringing. He looked and saw it was Max calling him.

"Max, this better be good," he said, with a heavy sigh.

"It is I promise. We found out who the offshore account belongs to."

Tristan sat up in bed resting his head against the headboard. "Damn, that was fast. Who is it?"

"His name is Nicholas 'Nick' White."

The name sounded familiar to him but he couldn't quite place where he had heard it.

"Have you guys done a background check on him yet?" Tristan asked, still thinking of the name.

"They're working on it as we speak."

"Good. Keep me posted."

Relief washed over Tristan. At least they had found out who was associated with the offshore account.

"Will do," Max said, hanging up.

Tristan hung up and placed his phone on the nightstand to let it charge. His mind kept going back to the name that Max had told him. He could have sworn he had heard that name before.

Tristan sighed and snuggled underneath the covers. He was nodding off again when he thought he heard a knock at his door. It was confirmed when he heard another one.

"Come in," he said. He watched Nina's outline peek inside until she was standing over him and looking down at him.

The only light that came in was the moonlight emanating from the window. He had forgotten to close the curtains again.

"Are you still mad at me?" she asked, nibbling at her bottom lip.

He sighed. "I'm not mad. I want you to be open and honest with me."

She glanced away. "It's not easy."

"I know. It's not easy for me either but I'm trying. I want you to try too."

She nodded. "I just...I can't tell you yet." He could hear the crack in her voice like she was on the verge of tears.

"I understand. Tell me when you're ready."

She gave him a small smile. She turned to walk away but he grabbed her wrist.

"Sleep with me."

"I don't know..."

"We don't have to have sex. I just want to hold you."

He heard her sniffle but he didn't comment on it.

"Okay," she whispered.

Tristan scooted over and pulled back the covers so Nina could also get under them. Her back was to his chest so he wrapped an arm around her waist and let his nose skim her neck and placed a kiss against it.

"Tristan..." she moaned.

"Sorry," he said, chuckling.

"It's okay," she said, snuggling deeper under the covers.

"Nina, whatever it is you have to tell me, even if it's bad, we can work through it," he said, placing a kiss against her temple.

Her body stiffened against his. "Do you mean that?"

"Of course I do."

Another sniffle.

"Get some sleep," Tristan said.

"You too," she whispered.

He wondered what it was that she needed to tell them that had her in such emotional distress as he pulled her closer against his body.
