ristan stretched and moaned. He had forgotten to close his black curtains last night so now the sun was peaking through the blinds beckoning for him to get up. Tristan reached his hand out to the other side of the bed to feel no warm body, only cool sheets.

Tristan opened his eyes to see Nina wasn't there. Her vanilla scent was still there, but she wasn't. Tristan slipped on his slippers. He was still naked, so he put back on his shorts and a t-shirt.

He stepped into his bedroom. He washed his face and brushed his teeth. He then decided since he was already in the bathroom to take a shower.

Tristan stepped into the shower, scrubbing his body and letting the warmth of the water soothe him. He was expecting Nina to still be cuddled up beside him once he awakened.

Tristan stepped out of the shower and dried himself off. He decided to wear a plain white t-shirt and blue jeans. It was Saturday, so he didn't need to go into the office. He would still work a bit from home, though.

Tristan left his bed in made knowing one of the maids would be in to clean his room in an hour. Tristan walked down the hallway to Nadia's room.

He opened her door and found she wasn't there. Tristan then went to Nina's door and found she wasn't inside either.

Tristan made his way down the steps to find them sitting in the living room smiling and laughing. They were both dressed for the day.

"Daddy," Nadia said, running up to him.

Tristan picked Nadia up and gave her a hug. He glanced at Nina to find her look away with an unreadable expression.

What was going on?

"Did you sleep okay?" he asked, patting Nadia's small back.

"Yes, daddy. I dreamed of unicorns," she said, smiling.

He chuckled. "Unicorns?"

She nodded her head as Tristan placed her down on the couch where Nina was sitting. He sat beside Nadia on the other side.

"Yeah. I fed them, brushed their hair, and got to ride them."

Tristan glanced at Nina to find her smiling down at Nadia as she continued to tell her story of how she played with the unicorns.

Once Nadia was done telling her story, she left Tristan and Nina alone to go play with the actual toy unicorns she had on the living room floor.

Tristan smiled at Nadia, making sure she was okay before looking back at Nina. She had scooted further away from him and was looking at the TV.

"I woke up and you weren't there," he said, making sure his tone was low so Nadia couldn't hear.

Nina kept her eyes glued to the TV.

"I wanted to take a shower, so I left."

Tristan scooted closer to her, causing her to lean against the couch.

"You're acting weird," he said, frowning at her.

Nina scoffed. "How? All because I didn't stay in the room with you."

Tristan's nose flared.

"Last night was a mistake," Nina said, still looking at the TV.

"Look at me."

Nina sighed and glanced in his direction.

"Why was it a mistake? I thought you wanted me just as much as I wanted you."

Nina looked down at her lap. "It was a mistake because I'm just your employee like you said before. I don't like to mix business and pleasure."

"Fine. I'll keep it strictly professional from now on."

"Thank you," she said, still staring at her lap.

Tristan stood up. "Watch Nadia for me. I need to review some documents."

"Sure."

Tristan stomped his way to his office. He sat down at his desk. His computer was already on so he put in his code and went to the documents he needed to review.

His mind kept thinking about what Nina had told him. Yes, he had promised her that he was going to keep it strictly professional, which he knows he should do. He just couldn't help that whenever she was in his presence he wanted to touch her and taste her.

Tristan ran a hand over his face and groaned.

Maybe it was for his own good too. He didn't need to get mixed up with another woman who would just hurt him in the long run.

If she wanted him to keep his distance that was what he would do. It would be in his best interest to do so too.

Tristan was finishing reviewing and signing some documents when he heard a knock at his door.

"Come in," he said, still glancing at his computer.

Tristan heard the sound of shoes hitting the floor and then all too soon he smelled a vanilla scent that was now embedded into his senses even more so from the night before.

"I made you some lunch," Nina said. "It's on the dining room table."

Tristan glanced at the time on the computer. He hadn't realized he worked all the way until one in the afternoon.

Tristan looked away from the computer to stare at Nina. He rounded his desk and walk towards her. He stopped when he was only a foot away from here.

"You don't have to do things like that in the future."

"Tristan-"

"We're just employer and employee. I can make my own lunch."

Tristan didn't wait for her to respond. He left her standing in his office as he made his way to the dining room.
