ina slammed her bedroom door shut. She stomped over to her bed and threw her purse down. She had really wanted to stay at the hospital just in case anything happened to her grandmother. She couldn't believe Tristan would agree with her grandmother to make sure she stays at home.
To top it all off, she still hadn't heard from her sister or her mother concerning her grandmother. They were both being selfish in Nina's eyes, and hatred wrapped itself around her when she thought of how they were treating her grandmother.
Nina placed her head in her hands and let out a small scream. She crawled under the covers of the bed and rested her head against the pillow. She angrily swiped at the tears that fell against her cheeks. There was no way she would be getting any sleep tonight. She would be too worried.
Nina snuggled deeper under the covers until she heard a knock at the door.
"Go away," she said, noticing how her voice was a bit hoarse.
The door to her bedroom slowly opened and she saw Tristan step and side and shut the door. He was holding a white tray in his hands.
Nina sat up straighter in the bed and narrowed her eyes at him.
"I didn't tell you you could come in, did I?" she asked, eyes narrowed even further when she saw him drag a chair from the corner of the room and set it down beside the bed.
Tristan grabbed the black mug off the platter and tried to hand it to her.
"Take it," he said, staring her down.
"I don't want it. Why are you here? I want you to leave."
"It's chamomile tea. It'll help you relax," he said, trying to place it in her hand.

Nina removed her hand from his and tucked it under the covers.
"I don't like tea," she said, glaring at him.
"That's funny. You had some tea this morning, now all of a sudden you don't like it," he said, shaking his head.
Nina watched him place the cup back on the white platter. He placed the platter on her nightstand and turned his attention back to her.
"I find it funny you still haven't left yet."
Nina noticed his lips were now pressed together and she saw his jaw tick.
"I only did what your grandmother asked me to."
Nina scoffed. "Would you have left if you were in my predicament?"
He frowned. "This isn't about me."
Nina's nostrils flared as she gave him a cold look.
"Good thing we aren't in a real relationship. I would hate it."
Nina saw a flicker of emotion in his eyes but it was gone just as fast. Tristan glanced away from her and stood up. For some odd reason, she wanted him to look at her but he wouldn't. He focused his attention on the mug.
"Make sure to drink your tea. It'll help you relax and fall asleep."
Nina watched him walk out of her room and slammed her door shut.
She released air she didn't know she was holding on to as she continued to stare at the door Tristan had just left out of.
Nina stumbled into the kitchen the next morning after her argument with Tristan. She stopped in her tracks when she saw Tristan in a black suit. He had his tie loosened around his neck and his button-down shirt had the first two buttons opened exposing his toned chest.
He was drinking coffee and typing something on his laptop. He finally looked away from the laptop and stared directly at her. He gave her a once over, stopping to leg at her thighs and legs. He cleared his throat and turned his attention back to the computer.

Nina walked over to the fridge and grabbed a gallon of milk and placed it on the counter. She went over to the cabinet to grab a box of frosted flakes. She stood on her tippy toes but was still having trouble reaching the cereal.
Nina went still when a hard chest positioned itself against her back. Electrical currents ran up and down her spine. Tristan placed the box in her hand but he didn't move from behind her.
"Thanks," she mumbled.
Nina continued to avert her gaze. She hated that they had a mini argument last night. She was so angry at the time but waking up this morning she realized she wrong for getting mad at Tristan. He was like had said only respecting her grandmother's decision.
Nina peeked in his direction to find him frowning in concentration at whatever it was on his computer. She didn't like seeing him frown and she would prefer that he smiled. His smile made her feel giddy inside.
"Did you take Nadia to school?"
Without glancing in her direction, he said, "Yes."
Nina poured the milk into her bowl of frosted flakes. He was ignoring her and she didn't know why she hated it. Honestly, she shouldn't care so much but she did.
"I'm going to go visit my grandmother since Nadia is at school," she said, taking a bite of the cereal.
"Okay," he said, typing again on the laptop.
Nina's frown deepened. She knew she needed to apologize but she hated doing it. It was a sign of weakness for her. She had learned that since she was young.
"I'm waiting," he said.
Nina glanced in his direction.
"For what?"
His eyes landed on hers. He stared at her until she had to glance away and look down at her cereal.
"For you to apologize."
Nina scoffed. "Continue waiting."
Nina stood up to leave. She turned around to walk away but stopped when a large hand wrapped around her wrist. The warmth radiating off of him made her feel safe and she thought about turning around and hugging him.
"Where are you going?" he asked, his hand still wrapped around her wrist.
"I'm going to take a shower and get dressed."
"We need to talk," he said, stepping closer to her.
"Later," she said, removing his hand from her wrist.
This time he didn't try to stop her.
