《A Second Chance at Love (Millionaire Romance)》6

ristan checked his watch as he sat down in his leather chair in his study. He and Greg had agreed that Nina was perfect for being a Nanny for Nadia. Greg had called Nina to tell her the good news and invite her over to his mansion.
He told himself that he only hired her because she had all the qualifications they needed, not for the simple fact he enjoyed seeing how cute she looked when she was irritated with him. She would scrunch her nose up as if he disgusted her.
Tristan took a sip of his black coffee.
Tristan thought of turning her frown into a smile whenever she saw him. Wait. What was he thinking? He had no time to put a smile on anyone's face but his daughters.
Tristan stood up and walked across his glossy wooden floor over to the window and stared out of it.
All Nina would be was another one of his employees. He had no time to get swept up with some woman with a pretty face.
Tristan turned around when the door opened up to his study. He turned around to see Greg ushering Nina into the room. He watched her glance at his expensive paintings on the wall and the huge bookshelf on the left side of the room.
Nina's face continued to look around the room but her face seemed bored. He wasn't used to seeing that. Most people would gawk but she seemed to not care. He didn't know what to think about that.
"I'll leave you two to talk," Greg said, before tossing a knowing look in Tristan's direction.
Tristan ignored his look and focused his attention back on Nina when he heard the door shut.
"Have a seat," he said, motioning his hand to one of the chairs that sat in front of his large black desk.

Tristan sat down right after Nina. He placed his hands against the desk and stared at her. She really looked pretty today, with her braids loosely curled and framing her heart-shaped face.
"How was the drive over here?" he asked.
Tristan had told Greg to pick her up when she had informed them she had no car to use to make it to his place.
"Traffic was bad but that's not anything new," she said.
Tristan nodded. "I'm just glad you were able to make it."
"Would you like something to drink?" he asked.
"Water would be fine."
Tristan walked across the room and pressed the intercom to have one of the maids bring them a glass of water.
He crossed back over to the room and sat back down.
"I have a question?" she asked.
"What's that?"
"I won't be seeing much of you, right?" she asked, her face not showing any emotion.
"Is seeing me a problem?" he asked, smirking.
"Yes, it is."
Tristan leaned across his desk and stared intently at her.
"Is that any way to talk to your boss on the first day of employment?"
Nina scoffed. "It is when said employer accuses me of kidnapping."
"I thought we were past that. After all, I'm hiring you to be my nanny."
For some reason, he didn't want Nina to think he was a jerk.
"I apologize again for calling you a kidnapper. You do have to understand the situation I was in."
Nina sighed. "I understand it."
Tristan smiled. "Great."
Nina opened her mouth to say something when she was interrupted by one of the maids named Tasha bringing in their water.
Tristan watched how Tasha's eyes widened when she saw Nina and gave her a glass of ice water. Tristan grabbed his glass from Tasha and told her 'that would be all' and she left.

"Do you know her?" Tristan asked, taking a sip of his water.
Nina hesitated before she said, "Yes, she is my best friend."
"I see," he said, his eyes zeroing in on her mouth when she licked her lips.
Nina squirmed in her seat. "You said you wanted to talk business."
"Right," he said. "I wanted to go over when you wanted to start working."
"I can start as soon as possible," she said, taking a drink of water.
"That's good to hear. I want you to start first thing Monday morning."
"You also said I would be a live-in nanny, right?" she asked.
"Yes, so let me know what all needs to be moved. I'll have the movers get your things on Monday as well."
Nina bit her bottom lip and Tristan could help but look at her plump lips. "Sounds good."
"Is there a problem?" he asked, noticing her deep-set frown.
"Don't get me wrong, this is an amazing opportunity."
Tristan hummed in understanding. "But..."
"I'm scared to leave my Grandmother alone. She's elderly and I have been taking care of her these past couple of weeks. I'm scared that something bad will happen to her and I won't be there to help her. I wouldn't be able to forgive myself," she said, looking up at him with glossy eyes.
He hated seeing women cry.
Tristan didn't want to lose her as a Nanny since it had taken him and Greg so long to find someone suitable enough for Nadia.
"What if she moved in here with us?" Tristan asked, seeing Nina's eyes widen.
"You would do that for someone you've just met?"
"I have plenty of rooms. It wouldn't be a problem to have her here."
Nina grinned at him and he had to admit how his stomach flip-flopped at that simple action.
"She loves living in her house. I hope I can convince her."
"If not we can come up with something else, okay?"
"Thanks, Tristan."
"No need to thank me. I'm not a bad guy."
Nina laughed and it was music to his ears.
"I never said you were a bad guy."
Tristan smiled. "No, but I saw it in the way you looked at me."
Nina's mouth opened and closed like a fish gasping for air.
Tristan raised his hand and laughed.
"Don't try to deny it. I'll give you a pass just this once."
Nina huffed and leaned back in her chair with a pout.
Tristan hated how he wanted to rub his thumb against her bottom lip.
He realized that maybe hiring her wasn't only due to the fact that she was so qualified.
