《A Second Chance at Love (Millionaire Romance)》2

ristan ran through the many aisles of Walmart like a madman. He was regretting his decision of even coming there to shop with his baby girl, Nadia. He had wanted to spend the day with her and go shopping like a normal person.

Everything was fine when they had shown up. He had promised Nadia that he would spend more time with her. It was hard nowadays, with his tech business booming in the right direction. He was thankful, but it meant spending less time with his daughter.

He hated not being able to be around her like he wanted to. So, shopping at Walmart with her was supposed to be their bonding and spending more time with one another. Not for Nadia to run away from him crying.

Tristan had looked on the frozen food aisle and he noticed she wasn't in that aisle either. It was his fault that she had run away. He had searched the next frozen aisle, and she wasn't there either.

Nadia had got upset when she saw another little girl and her mother laughing and shopping. She had asked Tristan where her own mommy was. Tristan, of course, told her that her mommy had gone somewhere far away but that she still loved her.

Nadia had accused him of lying once again. She had screamed at the top of her lungs that she hated him and that she wanted her mommy. Tristan got upset and yelled at her to stop crying and acting spoiled.

He had then turned around to grab bread off the shelf. He turned around and placed it in his basket when he saw that Nadia was no longer there.

He had finally found her on the toy aisle but some strange black woman had Nadia and was about to run off with her. This wasn't the first time some crazy person tried to kidnap his daughter, thinking they would get his money.

They would because he would give all his money away but their plans never worked. He always had someone watching her. Today was Saturday and he was with her. No one would think to try to take her away from him when he would be right there to kick their ass.

Tristan wasn't expecting Nadia to run off and have him search for her.

Now he was standing in the middle of Walmart with some crazy attractive woman who was trying to take his daughter away from him. He couldn't help but notice her dark doe-like brown eyes that were glaring at him.

His eyes flicked down to her full lips tainted crimson red, which were now straightened into a thin line. She looked every bit pissed but he should be the one mad in this situation.

He had to admit that she had a girl next door type of beauty and innocence about her.

Tristan was still waiting on her to answer him on why he should let her go. He didn't plan on letting her go but he wanted to see what she would say.

"You should be thanking me," she said, her eyes still narrowed at Tristan.

He scoffed. "And why is that? It looks like you were trying to kidnap my daughter?"

The kidnapper crossed her arms under her perky breasts, which made Tristan glance down at them.

"You don't really believe that do you?"

He shrugged. "Convince me or I'm turning you in."

Tristan was starting to believe that she didn't have any ill intent but he couldn't be too sure when it came to his daughter. He would do anything to protect her.

The kidnapper sighed at him. "I was minding my own business when I heard Nadia cry. She said she was looking for you and that she got lost."

Tristan looked down at his daughter. She was still wiping her tears and staring up at him. He couldn't believe that this woman could get Nadia to talk to her. She never spoke to people she didn't know from being shy and from him telling her not to talk to strangers.

Tristan got down into a crouch and grabbed Nadia's tiny hands into his own.

"Nadia is that true?" he asked.

Nadia nodded. "Yes, daddy. I'm sorry."

Tristan wrapped his arms around Nadia. "It's okay. Daddy's sorry too for yelling at you."

Tristan stood back up and glanced at the woman who was now sporting a smug look on her face.

"Well, am I free to go?" she asked.

Tristan was feeling like an ass at this point. He had accused this woman of kidnapping his daughter when all she was trying to do was help.

"I'm sorry about accusing you."

"Apology not accepted," she said. "Bye, Nadia. It was nice meeting you."

Tristan frowned as the woman waved at Nadia gave him a quick glance over, narrowing her eyes and then stalked off in the opposite direction.

What the hell?

Tristan was expecting the woman to accept his apology but she didn't. He could make many businessmen cower under his gaze but this woman didn't seem to be fazed by his intimidating stare.

He didn't care at this point now. He had Nadia and she was safe. It wasn't like he would see this woman again. They were on completely different social standings.

"Nadia, let's get your cereal and go home."

"Okay, daddy," she said, with excitement in her eyes.

When they get home he would sit down and have a serious talk with her. It was hard for Nadia not having her mother in her life. It was taking its toll now that she was getting older and seeing other children had their mothers and she didn't.

Tristan finished shopping and made his way over to the self-checkout line when he saw the same woman from before scanning her groceries.

He noticed her having a hard time scanning the items and he couldn't help but laugh.

The woman turned around and scowled when she saw that it was him.

"Are you stalking me?" she asked, still trying to scan the items correctly.

"Do you want me to?" he asked, with a smirk.

She rolled her eyes and turned her attention back to trying to scan her food.

He was still holding Nadia's hand so they both walked over to the woman. Tristan grabbed onto the scanner, ignoring the tingle of electricity when his fingers touched hers. She removed her hands just as fast.

He picked up the pork chops she was trying to scan and showed her how it was done.

The woman followed his directions and was finally scanning her items correctly.

"Aren't you going to thank me?" he asked, watching her.

Her frown deepened. "No."

He continued to stare at her as she put the last bag in her cart and walked away from him but she still turned to wave at Nadia and scowl at him once again.

The fact that she didn't accept his apology and didn't say her thanks for him helping her irritated him, and he didn't know why.
