《Forbidden Love (Book One)》Chapter 6

I sat on the sofa and mentally scolded myself for letting my true feelings slip through my perfectly built walls. I was interrupted when the phone started to ring and I mentally braced myself before going back in. Getting up I walked into the kitchen and picked up the phone.
"Hello?"
"Hey Carol, it's me. Your father and I are stuck over here and so instead of coming back tonight we'll come back next Sunday."
"Mom!!! You know I'm moving back to college on Sunday!" I whined.
"I know that and we'll come back as soon as we can but I'm sorry, it can't be before that date."
"Alright fine."
"I love you."
"Love you too... Tell dad hi." I hung up the phone and braced my head against the wall.
So now I had an entire week with the love of my life and I couldn't think of one single thing to do than screwing the life out of her. In college it was different. We were always surrounded by other students and most of the time she wasn't even in the room. She would mostly sleep over with the other girls or by Anthony.
Now, she was staying at my house and even though we didn't share the same room, we still shared the same habits. She hated wearing clothing and sleeping early and I was always dressed, avoided her and slept nearly 24 hours a day.
Together we could have avoided each other but now we had an extra week, without my family, and there was no telling what might happen.
"Is everything okay?"
I jumped when I heard a voice close behind me and felt a hand on my shoulder. I had been so wrapped up in my own world that I completely forgot about Roni in the kitchen.
I turned around to face her but she didn't step back and any slight movement would cause our bodies to touch. I struggled to breath as I inhaled her beautiful essence.
This was starting to happen often and it was making it difficult to control myself around her. After what just happened I had to be extra cautious or she would definitely stop talking to me altogether. I looked down at her face and I could see genuine concern in her eyes and for a second I forgot why.

"I-" My voice sounded hoarse and low so I cleared my throat and tried again.
"Yeah, everything is fine. Mom and dad got stuck in England so they'll be coming back until next week." I whispered.
For the life of me I couldn't get my voice to sound normal. The mere fact that she was standing this close to me, that I could smell her perfume and see how brown her eyes were... I literally had to force-control myself before I moaned out loud. My brain willed my eyes from shutting or my nostrils from inhaling her scent once more.
"Oh!" she responded, never breaking eye contact. "So they wouldn't be able to take us back to college?!"
"Yeah... At least I think so. I hope they make it back in time, I would hate to not say goodbye in person."
"Me too. They're like family to me. If they can't though, I wouldn't mind driving us back... And maybe they could bring up the rest of our stuff."
"Yea, that's a good idea." I replied looking anywhere but at her. Roni realized what her closeness around me did so she stepped away. I released the breath I was holding, greatful that my brain could finally work again.
"Are you going to join me for lunch?"
"Am, yes."
I sat in the chair directly in front of me as she got two plates and placed them on the table. Normally I would have gotten up and helped to set the table and what not but I was afraid that my body would disobey me once more.
So I sat where I was and watched as she did everything herself and I just smiled whenever she looked in my direction. When she finally finished setting the table she took her seat next to me and we ate in silence... For the first few minutes.
"So, I was thinking..."
I laid my fork down just as I was about to have a foodgasm from the deliciousness exploding in my mouth. Looking across form me, I cautiously spoke.
"You were thinking... About?"
"Maybe tonight we could watch some movies, you know. I mean, I think it's too soon to be hanging out with our friends, especially since what happened last night and what with them living so far and all."

"Oh... So you want to go to the movies?!"
"No. We could watch it in your room."
I swallowed.
"Oh..."
I swallowed again.
"Sure..."
------------
After lunch I decided to take a walk to the grocery store. I know I didn't need anything because Roni had already bought some stuff but I thought we needed some popcorn or ice cream or something. It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon so I decided that a walk was long overdue and that it would help to calm my nerves. There wasn't a lot of people around or cars for that matter. People were probably home, relaxing or enjoying time with the family. Or maybe they were at the beach, that was plausible since it was the summer time.
I took slow meaningful steps on my way to my destination and I replayed my life's story in my head. I had so many things to be greatful for, so many things that people wished they had but couldn't. Yes, I might not be as rich as my roommate or as pretty as my friends, or maybe I'm not allowed to be who I was... But I had a great life.
I looked up from my task of kicking tiny bricks across the gravel floor and realized I had reached my destination. Pulling open the door I stepped inside and went to aisle three. I grabbed a few popcorn, a tub of ice cream and some other snacks that I had to replace since they were eaten last night. I passed the aisle with the liquor on my way to cash and stopped for a slight second but walked away before temptation could hit.
Eek whatever, dad got lots of those home.
I stood in line for a few minutes until I was standing behind the counter.
"Hey goodnight." The cashier said as she checked out the items.
"Hi."
"Aren't you the girl that lives a few blocks away?! The one that goes to that fancy college?"
"Yeah, that would be me."
"Oh, I heard you were back."
"Really! Who told you that?"
"A friend of mine. Randy, do you know him?"
"Randy?!... Am... Yeah, I think we went to the same high school. Though we hardly ever spoke."
"Ah, okay... I'm Darcy. So how long are you back for?"
"Until Sunday. My parents are dropping me when they get back from their trip. I'm Carol"
"They're not home?" She raised an eyebrow.
"No, they got stuck in England."
"Oh... So you're like alone at home?"
I know that with her prying like this I should be worried or scared but where I'm from nothing bad ever happened. Well if you call the regular cheating and bar fights something.
"I have a roommate staying with me."
"Oh!"
By this time she had already checked out my items so she just stood there and talked to me. I didn't want to be rude or anything so I humored her, plus she was pretty hot. I mean she was shorter than I was, but then again everyone was shorter than me. She had glasses on and her shoulder length black hair was pulled up in a messy bun. Her eyes were the color of coal beneath the specs and it hinted of dangerous fun.
She smiled at me and I couldn't help but smile back.
How did I not know her?
"I'm not really from around here. I used to live here when I was younger but moved away. Now I'm back for a while." She said as though reading my mind.
"Oh, who're you related to?"
"I'm Buzz's cousin."
"Oh! I heard he had a cousin staying, didn't know it was you. Cool. Well thanks." I collected my bags and started to head out.
"Am... Carol." I stopped and turned slowly around.
"I was wondering, if you don't have anything to do tomorrow night if you wanted to hang out?"
She spat out the sentence so fast that my brain had to play it over to decipher it. When that happened I turned a shocked face towards hers.
Wait a sec, did she just ask me out or was this like a normal girl hang out thing?!
I was so confused that when I said yes I wasn't even sure if it came from my mouth. I quickly walked out the store with my hammering heart in my chest and a small smile on my face.

Love Of Baybur [Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
The Sultanate won a huge battle against their enemies of different religion, and now left them with only a piece of land surrounded by Sultanate's forces. Baybur, a yerliyya from a backwater place, is hailed as a hero after the war for his past contributions in a strange manner and is, thus, invited to a banquet prepared by the Sultan and attended by many Great Nobles. To Baybur, who had dreams of stepping on a higher stage in Sultanate's politics, and in his Orta's ranks, this is a chance for him to shine and rise. Yet he, and many in the banquet, knows that victory is far from over. And this presents a chance, with greater risk than before, to impress the Sultan and the Pashas of the Sultanate. Sanjak-beys and Aghas of the Janissary Corps all seek to devour their enemies, both in and out of the Sultanate. And Baybur, in the midst of this brewing storm, is no different from a fish dreaming to be a dragon. But a woman he meets at the banquet changes everything; his goals, his dreams, and his fate. After all, love, without expression, is a deadly curse. As a note, Cover is not mine obviosuly, and I write this both for NaNoWriMo and Writathon. To some history lovers and nerds who specialize in it, I know you might be angered quite a deal with some things I've written.(I get the feeling when someone talks wrong foolish things in a study I know, no hate) But this is a historical fiction written by a seventeen-year-old, don't expect much from me to know every single detail. Much of my research is surface level and some things are, well, to fit plot, are changed. So bear that in mind. For schedule/chapter thingt, there will be at most five chapters until I pass the 55.555 words mark. Each chapter will be around or above 10k+ words. It is also not edited, and probably won't be unless I find a great deal of time in my hands after November to see what I lack in where. That's all. Now go read, or leap to another fiction. Enjoy!
