Somebody who betters you.

Somebody who encourages and inspires you in life, who pushes you towards the dreams and goals you'd otherwise ignore,

Who selflessly sacrifices their time in helping you to become more courageous. That's sacred. You hold onto a love like that.

And the day arrived.

The day when the whole stadium was screaming the names, names of their favorite team, favorite player with banners in their hands, adrenaline rushing through them.

Everyone had a certain excitement, their eyes on the field as the principal of Lakeview preparatory gave a long speech on sportsmanship.

And for the first time, that boring, useless lecture did not make them loose their shit. They were too excited for the match to care.

"I still can't believe I am here. This has never been my scene guys." Isabella giggled as she took a place halfway up the stand, witnessing a perfect view of the green field.

She was wearing Zach's jersey, a proud smile on her face.

"Oh trust me, Bella, you're gonna love it." Max smirked and then started telling her about the players and the positions they are in.

Aubree took a place next to them and tapped on Max's shoulder, boxes of popcorn and different snacks on her hands. Her lap was full of food and she was struggling to keep them up from falling.

"Guys, help me with these. Give me a hand." And both of them helped Aubree, taking the items from her hands.

"Where is Faye?" Max asked once they were settled.

"Oh, there is still an hour or two left for the game to start, so, she went to meet Madeline and the football team. Did not get to see them in school after all, she had been busy all morning." Aubree said before turning to Isabella, "By the way, that jersey really suits you Bella." She added with a wink, making the girl blush furiously.

And on the other side of the hallway, stood Faye, walking towards the boys changing room.

"Yo Faye, what's up?" She was greeted by a big, bulky guy who stood in the front of the gym door, a big smile on his face.

"Hello to you to Ben." She grinned, doing a weird handshake with him, you know that one which involves all fists and spit?

Okay maybe not spit, but you get it, right?

"You want to go inside?" Ben asked, raising a brow.

"Yup, need to meet my friends. Anyways, how are you holding? The game is just hours away. All good?" She asked, making him chuckle.

"Yah, I am alright. Its River, you should be worried about." He shrugged.

"Why? What happened to him?" Faye asked, suddenly a worried look on her face.

"The pressure is getting into him. Everyone is relying Faye and he's having problems in pulling his shit together." Faye nodded at that, letting out a sigh.

"Will you mind if I go inside?" She asked.

"River and Zach are already expecting you. Left side, last corner." Ben smiled.

"Thanks Ben, and don't worry, you all are gonna do great." And patting his back, she opened the door to the changing room.

She noticed that everyone was already dressed, wearing their pads and talking with each other.

They noticed Faye and grinned. She had always been like a little sister to them.

"Hey guys, best of luck for today." She waved at them, earning 'thank you' from everyone else.

She walked towards left after that, just as Ben had told her to and soon was in the last corner. Just as expected, Zach and River sat there, talking in hush tones.

"If we gojust the way we had planned to, everything is gonna be fine. Just have a cool demeanor River, they are already feeling the tension. You are the leader for all of us, you will have to be confident, you will have to trust us." Zach was saying to River as he placed the shoulder pads on his little brother's shoulder, making him wear them.

Faye smiled at the scenario. She noticed how much of a brother they were to each other, the love, the support. She did not want the moment to end. They always had such a cool attitude in the public that no one had ever seen this side of them. The sensitive side.

"As much as I want to see the bromance, guys, you both have a match to win." She laughed, making them look up.

"Faye." Zach stood up from his place and pulled her into a tight hug.

"Zach geez, I need to breathe." She laughed, making him roll his eyes.

"How are you holding up?" She asked as they pulled away.

"I am fine." Zach shrugged.

"You are gonna do great, you know that, right?" She smiled.

"I know we are gonna do great. Its River you should tell that to. He can use some motivation after all." And they both looked towards River, who was glaring at Zach.

"Anyways, you both talk, I am gonna go gather the team." And Zach left, a smirk on his face.

Faye smiled at him before walking towards River who sat there, adjusting the straps of his knee pads.

The first thing she noticed is that, he looked hot, too hot in that blue uniform.

His hair was a mess but that just add a delicious effect to the whole uniform.

Standing in front of him, she tightened the shoulder straps, adjusting them.

They both were silent, Faye waiting for him to say something.

"I am scared." He whispered after some seconds, making her look at him.

She ran her hand through his soft hair, a small smile on her face.

"I know." She said.

"Its just, everyone is relying upon me. For the first time, I know how others used to feel. This position is so fucking scary, it makes you feel to sick about everything." He cursed under his breath as Faye took his hand in hers, sitting next to him.

"Its horrifying, I get it. But River, they chose you for a reason." She whispered, planting a kiss on his knuckles.

He closed his eyes, feeling her warm lips.

"I believe in you, they believe in you. You need to pull it up Blake. Don't break down now, I know its scary, but the more you will feel the pressure, the more they will get scared. Its about teamwork River. You need to trust each other. You all are amazing and you need to show them in the field."

"Think about the way we all will feel when you all will be holding the cup. Think about the happiness. River, stop making them worry. For them, play cool. Being scared isn't wrong, but never make that show it in your face." She said, giving his hand a tight squeeze, never letting it go.

"And what if we don't win?" He asked in a hushed tone, looking up at her.

"Aren't you going to give your best?" She asked, tracing his cheeks by her hand.

"I am. We are."

"Its never about the winning. You love football. Play for yourself. Play for your team. Play for us." She smiled and continued, "And you are gonna win. You will do everything it takes to win, I know." She smiled.

"You can be a good therapist, you know." He chuckled, their hands intertwined.

"Perks of being Faye Lockwood." She replied, a smirk on her face as she stood up.

"You need to go ha?" He asked as she let go of his hand.

"Just to watch you in the field. Your team needs you right now." And he pulled her into a hug.

He breathed in, taking her scent and closing his eyes. Hugging her made him forget all the negatives on his mind. That's what he loved about her. She never gave him false hopes about anything but makes him believe that he can change the worse, make it better. That he can change everything.

"Just to make it more exciting. If you win, I will take you out to my favorite place. Like a date." She blushed furiously as she said that, making him pull away and look at her unbelievably.

She had just asked him out. Faye Lockwood had just asked River out.

A warm smile invaded his features as he saw Faye's face. She was flushed, fumbling with the bracelet that she wore in her wrist, avoiding eye contact.

Her heart was beating faster than ever.

It had just slipped out of her mouth and when she saw the look on his face, she wanted to just run away from there in embarrassment.

He looked so shocked. Like he had never expected it.

Who is she kidding? Of course he wasn't. How can she be such a fool? Thinking that maybe he felt something for her too? Maybe a little love? A little care?

She wanted to cry right away. It was scary, the silence was.

And that's when she heard him chuckling.

He placed a finger on her chin, making her look up.

Smiling, he kissed her cheeks, one by one, lingering them for a second or two, tracing her soft skin.

"I will give everything I have to win this." He said, placing a kiss on her temple.
