《The Golden Girl》2. Shots and words

She never wanted to, but she picked him up, she picked him up that day and one way or another, let him conquer her world.

-

iver Blake was drunk, like high drunk and it felt like alcohol wasn't the only thing that he had dosed upon.

She wished she could say that she left him there or that she punched the hell out of him or better, killed him but... but she couldn't, cause instead of that, she helped him. Walking up to him, she stood him up, wrapping one hand around his waist, she pulled his arm around her shoulder. Thank God, he was little conscious to his surroundings cause otherwise, Faye might have got squeezed under his pressure. He was a guy, add his daily workout and soccer practice, he's maybe double of what Faye is, wait, not maybe, he fucking is.

Grumbling under her breath, she tried to pull him hard but... she was defeated.

She looked around. The thumbing music was making it impossible for her friends to hear her calls. And that's when she saw him, "Justin, Justin, over here..." The blonde guy turned around to look at the one who had just called him and when he saw her, his eyes twinkled.

"Hey..." He ran towards her direction as she struggled with River's heavy self.

"Woh, he's officially drunk." Justin snickered.

He's more than drunk.

"Are you just going to look or gonna help me drag this fatso?" And he laughed, advancing his steps towards her.

"Wait... what's the catch?" He stopped midway and wiggled his eyebrows at Faye.

"Seriously Justin? Can't you just help your friend or whatever?"

He shook his head and said, "Nope, I don't work for free."

A sigh escaped from her her lips as she slumped River's body on the floor and looked at Justin, "What do you want?" She asked, her arms crossed.

Licking his lips, he said, "Go on a date with me."

And she rolled her eyes. What can one expect, he likes her after all.

"That's it?" She asked and he simply shrugged, grinning ear to ear.

"Next weekend?" And Justin's eyes sparkled. After all these years, he was going to finally get what he wanted.

"Now stop grinning like a pig and help me out here."

They both grabbed the now fully unconscious body of River, advancing their steps towards the first room that they will find unoccupied.

"So, are you going to be there on the field on Monday?" Justin asked as they both walked towards the second floor, holding the body.

"Of course I will be, I mean it's soccer, plus, you all are gonna be against the Kingstons. I am more than happy about it."

"Cause you know we will win?"

"Something like that and I kinda have a grudge against those chipmunks." She grumbled as they both reached a wooden door.

Justin pushed the door by his leg and they entered the room. They both dropped River on the floor and Faye switched on the lights.

It was the workshop where River's father, Mr. Christopher Victor Blake spends his spare time in.

"Will you be able to help me with one more thing?"

"What is it?" He asked as he stretched his arms, flexing his muscles.

"Will you check if there is any spare room left?" And nodding at her, he walked out of the room.

As soon as he left, her eyes snapped towards the boy who was laying on the floor.

He is a fucking disaster, she thought.

People call River ravishing, he practically conquer the girls of the town. The most lovable guy on Lakeview.

What does he has? A pair of hazel color eyes that can hypnotize anyone in matter of seconds. Brown hairs that any girl will die to run her hands through, a jawline sharper than a knife, a set of dimples that can paralyze anyone, a set of tan biceps that girls crave to look at, a lean but a muscular body that can tackle anyone down. He's hot, he's compared to the greek God.

But...

But this never effected Faye, it never did.

She walked up to him and pulled out his shirt from his body as it was stained with alcohol. She was just going to place it on the side table when she heard a crumbling sound coming from the pocket of the grey shirt that she held.

And that's when she found packets of a white powdery substance.

Drugs.

Anger evaporated through her as soon as she realised that he was dosing upon them, once again.

She will have to do something about it.

She was just going out of the room when Justin barged into the door, looking flustered as ever.

As soon as she saw him, she hide the packets in her pouch and pulled in a neutral face.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck." Justin cursed under his breath.

"What happened?" A laugh made it's way through her mouth as she witnessed Justin's sick self.

"My sister is making out with a stranger out there. Oh my God, those images are going to haunt me forever." He squealed, jumping around the room, covering his face with his hands and muttering millions of curses under his breath.

"God, you are so over dramatic ." Faye rolled her eyes, laughing.

"Oh my God, it was so.... ugh." He started to pull his hairs, slapping his face occasionally.

"Justin, stop it. You're going to get swollen cheeks if you will not stop slapping yourself." She walked up to him and patted his back.

"Its okay, aha?" She confronted.

"No it's not, I am gonna kill her... ugh..."

"She has her own life, you know. She never complained when you fucked up about hundreds of girls, did she?" She said with a laugh.

Justin composed himself after some time and looked at her with a pout, "You shouldn't be on her side."

"I never said that I am. I just said that let her live a little. Don't be overprotective. Trust me, if you will be, it will get worse. She will hide things from you then. You know, just keep an eye on her from a distance and try to make her understand, not scold her." She said, rubbing his back.

Justin didn't say anything in return and after quite a moment, she found him staring at her with affection.

"What?" She asked, getting quite uncomfortable under his burning gaze.

"Ha? Oh, nothing." He shook his head, a small smile crept in his face.

"If you say so... anyways, thanks for you know, helping me out there. You were really my knight tonight." And Faye watched as his cheeks reddened with embarrassment.

"Ah... well, I think I should get going, my brother is probably waiting for me. You know, its his first party and all."

Faye smiled at him, a genuine smile, "Okay... thanks once again."

"Just don't forget about the date." And mastering a smirk, he walked out of the door, leaving Faye to herself.

Her eyes once again went to the sleeping body of her enemy, or frenemy or anything you wanna label them with.

Pure anger reflected on her sapphire orbs. She hated him, she hated him too much.

Anger, hatred, she possessed too much emotions for him. Emotions that were filling her head and heart every single time. He was a bloody traitor for her and she wanted to hurt him bad.

She squeezed her hands and formed a fist, trying to control her anger. He can't even take care of himself, she thought. Stomping on the floor and pulling a neutral face, she brutally turned around and stormed out of the room.

And there was silence.

There was just River Blake in the room, unconsciously laying on the floor. Everything was vague.

The news of him passing out in his party will surely reach each and every ear by Monday morning. For others, yes it was normal, but in case of the king, it was different. He was meant to be the shepherd, the conqueror, not an addicted overdose regular guy.

They didn't know, no one knows but, but River Blake isn't just the horrible monster, not just the conqueror or the shepherd leading his herd, he's a human, a human with emotions, a human who's broken, who's wounded, a mess, a time bomb waiting to burst out.

But maybe she knew about it, maybe she knew that River's life doesn't revolve just around power, high school, girls, that his life is much more complicated than people think it to be. She understood, didn't she? That's the only valid reason behind the door being opened again, right? That's the only reason why the destructive beauty stood on the doorway once again, right? Apart from the thumbing music, glamour and shots.

Faye Lockwood stood in front of him holding aspirins, a water bottle and a light duvet. She placed the duvet upon him, protecting his whole body from the biting cold and placed the tablets along with the bottle on the side table.

Throwing him a last look, she shut the door again.

They knew better than anyone, that even if they loath each other, even if they want nothing but to get rid of each other... they are no different. That their emotions are replicas of each other.

Torn, crashed, cracked at the edges but yet painted with so much color that no one witnesses the crease, the imperfections, no one but they themselves.
