《Obsession, Madness & Love (#6)》Chapter 12 | Jealousy?

Calix left for work, I felt relieved.
That idiot was having a weird effect on me. Making me blush, feel the butterflies and what not.
I trained for sometime in the garden and then took another shower and changed my clothes and roamed around the house, not knowing what to do next.
I don't know how he used to live here all alone...it just feels so lonely.
I groaned having roamed around for half an hour. It's so freaking boring!
I messaged Adrian asking where he was and told him to get the car ready. I am going to pay that idiot a visit.
Knowing it will take me 20-25 minutes to reach him, I initiated a conversation between Adrian and me. "You must be missing your family...I am sorry you had to come here to look after me." That was a genuine apology.
He glanced at me from the rearview mirror before focusing back on the road. "It's okay. I already owed Lucian a favour, I am just returning it. And Calix wanted to keep you safe that's why Lucian chose me."
"Calix is an idiot." I muttered.
"Who is in love with you."
My heart skipped a beat at that before I realised that he knows that our marriage is fake. He spoke before I could ask, "I know... it's obvious you both have a fake marriage. But Calix is obsessed with you and in love, it's written on his face."
"Please, he is not in love with me."
"Staying in denial in not good. You have to accept it and maybe give him a chance."
"I thought you were here to protect me not give me a free love class." I snapped.
His lips twitched. "I am a romantic at heart. And if my advice helps you both get closer then I would be happy."
"Shut up, Adrian. Calix made me marry him by lying to everyone. He is delusional as he thinks I will fall in love with him in these six months. And he might be obsessed with me but I don't think so he loves me."
"I beg to differ, Althea." Adrian said softly. "That man is in love with you. You need to give him a chance."
"Did Calix told you to say all those things to me?" I frowned at him.
"No. I am saying all this because I have seen the way he looks at you. Why do you hate him so much?"
I sighed and leaned back. "I don't...hate him exactly. Hate is a very strong word. I just don't like him much. And imagine giving him a chance, imagine actually..." I gulped. "... falling for him... it sounds weird."
"Why does it sound weird?"
"Because...I don't know! He...he was three when I was born and can you believe that he was the one to name me? And then I grew up spending so much time with him that even my first word was his name, not mom or dad but his name. Dad was very offended by that. And then he was there when I had my first period which is so embarrassing."

"I don't see how that makes it weird for you to fall for him." He spoke lowly.
And I realised that I have been sharing too much with him. I narrowed my eyes. "Hey, I don't need your love lessons. Now forget we ever had this conversation."
"Yes, ma'am." He said amusingly.

I stared up at the skyscraper which I used to visit with dad when uncle was the CEO but ever since Calix took over him, I haven't visited this place in years.
Adrian followed behind me as I walked inside the building and ignored the surprised look everyone was giving me and I went inside the elevator and pressed the button for the top most floor where uncle's office used to be.
Unlike the other floors, when the elevator doors slid opened on the top most floor, it was tranquil. There wasn't anyone rushing around or talking loudly or anything.
Straight ahead was Calix's office and before that at a desk sat his assistant as the tag on his desk suggested.
And on that right side was a corridor leading to several conference rooms.
As I stepped out of the elevator, his assistant lifted his head and he quickly fixed his spectacles and stood up, running his fingers through his ginger hair. "Mrs Andrews."
That damn surname again. I walked closer to him and gave him a tight smile. "Don't call me that ever again."
His brows furrowed and he opened his mouth to argue but I held up my palm stopping him. "Now, where's that idiot?"
His mouth fell open. "You...you mean...Mr Andrews?"
My eyes fell on the name tag on his shirt. "Yes, Mason. Your boss's another name is idiot. Now where is he?"
"Sir is in a meeting right now. It will take him another hour at least."
"Oh..." I looked around trying to find something interesting and then I saw that he was still standing so I gestured him to sit down. "You don't need to keep standing. Sit down."
Hesitantly, he sat down and leaning forward, I rested my forearms on his desk. "Now, tell me, does Calix troubles you? If you have any complains against him you can tell me and I will kick his ass for you."
He looked taken aback by that but he quickly masked his emotions. "No. Sir is actually very generous and polite to me."
"Really? You don't hate him?"
"No." He stated firmly. "Sir is very kind. He even paid for my mother's cancer treatment, if not for him, she would have not been alive."
Oh. That's...very sweet of him. My heart warmed on hearing that.
"That's good but like seriously, you have the chance right now to you know... complain against him." I gave him another opportunity.
He shook his head. "There's nothing to complain against him."
"You are too loyal to him." And I rolled my eyes. "Anyway, tell him that I am here to meet him."

"Sir is in a meeting right now, ma'am. You can wait for him in his office."
"In which room is the meeting being conducted?" I asked.
"The first room on the left...but why--"
I didn't wait for him to complete his sentence and turning I said to Adrian, "You can wait here or go out for sometime."
He nodded and I started to walk to the said conference room as Mason called behind me, "Ma'am! You can't interrupt his meeting, he will get angry."
"I don't care honestly." I muttered. I was in a mood of troubling him today and I won't sit still until I have done so.
When I reached the conference room, without bothering to knock, I pushed opened the door and ten pairs of eyes fell on me at once.
There was a long rectangular table in the middle, at the end of which stood Calix with a projector behind him showing some graph. He was in the middle of speaking but stopped abruptly on seeing me there.
All the men in the room eyed me with surprise and amusement and Calix's eyes narrowed at me.
"Hello, everyone." I greeted them and walked inside and went over to Calix and stood beside him.
Calix's jaw ticked and he whispered, "What are you doing here?"
"What does it look like? I am paying you a visit." And batting my eyelashes at him I asked innocently. "Are you busy?"
The man who sat nearby heard it and he masked his chuckle with a cough.
His shoulders relaxed and he exhaled deeply and wrapped his arm around my waist and turned to everyone. "Gentlemen, I am sorry for the interruption. Let me introduce you to the captain of the Australian Cricket Team and my wife, Althea."
I loved how he introduced me as the captain first and then as his wife because people sometimes just associate the women with whom they are married to rather than paying attention to what they are themselves.
I glanced up at him and he had that proud smile on his face which made my breath hitch before I forced myself to smile at everyone and waved my hand. "Hi!"
Everyone greeted me back but one voice stood out among them, a deep one, with a freaking British accent! "Hello, Althea."
It was the same man who was laughing earlier, with his chestnut brown hair and whiskey eyes and a suit tailored to perfection and his lovely British accent, he was fucking hot.
"Are you British?" I asked him excitedly.
He smiled softly. "Yes, I am."
"OMG! That's so cool. I love your British accent!"
Calix's hand around my waist inched lower and his fingers dug into my hip in a warning but I ignored it.
"Thank you."
"What's your name?" I questioned him.
"Harvey Thomas." He answered in his deep voice and I literally drooled.
"Althea." Calix's lips brushed my ear. "The fuck are you doing?"
I once again ignored him and was about to ask another question to Harvey when Calix wrapped both his arms around my waist and lifted me off my feet making me yelp.
And with his chest pressed to my back he started to drag me out of there as I struggled in his hold.
As we reached the door, Calix turned to everyone. "Gentlemen, let's reschedule this meeting, I have to get my wife's brain checked first."
And he dragged me out of there. "Put me down, idiot! I wasn't done there."
Mason looked shocked while Adrian was amused as Calix dragged me to his office and closed the door behind him and locked it.
He finally released me and I shoved his chest. "Why did you drag me out of there?! I was getting to know Harvey! He was so hot, British men are so hot!"
Calix glowered down at me and took a step forward backing me against the wall. "Do I need to remind you that you are my wife?"
"Does it look like I care? Let me go back to him. My ovaries bursted on hearing his sexy voice."
He slammed his palm on the wall beside my head and leaned closer. "You say another word about him and I will put you over my knee and spank your ass red."
My eyes widened at his threat and a blush crawled up my neck. "That's highly inappropriate! You can't say such things."
His hot breath fanned my lips. "Yes, I can. So, I suggest, Mrs Andrews, you better stop complimenting that fool."
"You are just jealous that he is more handsome than you." I folded my arms and rolled my eyes.
"Jealous?" His body pressed into mine. "Fuck yes! I am jealous because my wife was paying more attention to him than me, I am jealous because he was openly flirting with you. You are my wife, Althea. You are mine."
I tried my best not to show how much his words effected me. The possessiveness in his gaze and in his words made my belly tingle with a foreign sensation.
He was pissed off and breathing heavily. "Don't do that ever again. I was seconds away from throwing him out and then beating the shit out of him."
"You have lost your mind, Calix. I am not yours. Get that inside your head." And I made an effort to move away when he grabbed both my hands and pinned them above my head.
And his head dipped and he sinked his teeth tenderly into my neck making me gasp.

The Forgotten Hero
Long ago, in the world of Thyne, the Alliance of the Free Races, a name they had given themselves, summoned a hundred humans from another dimension. Praised as heroes by the people, they rejoiced that they had been able to acquire pure, mana deficient humans that wanted to aid them in their time of need, ignoring the black, archaic slave collars around their necks or the depressed, almost hate-filled expressions that they received when interacting with them. After Ten years of bloody war, the dark races were pushed back deep into their territories. Both sides were near breaking point and desperate to end the war once and for all. In a bargain, the twelve surviving heroes launched a high-risk mission, utilising advanced tactics from their home world to kill the Demon Lord. In exchange, they would be sent home, along with the magically preserved corpses of their comrades, though in truth, they knew that even if they returned, they would never be the same. Legends say that, upon ambushing the Demon Lord in his castle, they finally understood the plight of the world, and in the last act of heroism, sacrificed their lives, sealing him in an eternal prison so his essence would not be able to create another. With the loss of the Demon Lord, and no chance for another to be born, the dark races quickly surrendered and the free races celebrated, honouring the noble sacrifice of the heroes before quickly forgetting about them as they returned to their everyday lives. However, legends are rarely truthful, embellished by the victors in order to earn praise as well as hide the less desirable aspects of their deeds. Trapped in the Demon Lord's throne room inside the Demonic Palace, which even taking a single step on its desecrated grounds is punished by death, two figures remain motionless. They had long run out of insults and threats to trade and now they waited. For what, not even the Gods knew.
