《Obsession, Madness & Love (#6)》Chapter 8 | Breakfast

idiot!
My eyes fluttered opened and the first thing I realised was that this idiot's face was buried in my neck, half of his body resting over mine and his arm wrapped around my waist securely as if he was afraid I would run away somewhere.
Seriously? He is freaking cuddling with me.
And he was heavy. I don't know how I managed to sleep through all this. His weight was suffocating me.
I tapped his back. "Calix?"
When he didn't respond, I shook his shoulder. "Wake up, Calix."
Ugh. He sleeps like a dead person.
I grabbed his arm which was around my waist and removed it but my attention was diverted when I saw the bracelet he was wearing. He always wears a plain, thin, silver colour bracelet in his right hand.
But when I focused, I realised it was the bracelet that I gave him on his birthday.
I had gifted him a similar bracelet like he wears everyday, a platinum one but this one was custom made and I got a simple sentence engraved on it: YOU ARE AN IDIOT, CALIX.
Yup, I gifted him that but I never expected him to keep wearing it and I never noticed either.
It was his 28th birthday, two months before my birthday. He is not a party person and every year his birthday celebration consists of Austin and Maria baking him a cake and him celebrating it with his family, his best friend and my family.
I spent a lot of time wondering what to gift him and at the last moment I decided on this. Everyone was showering him with different and lots of gifts while mine was just simple and for the first time in my life, I was anxious about whether he would like this or not.
Haelyn, my sister had spilled some wine on my dress and giving her a glare, I went to the kitchen to clean it with some water.
As I was done cleaning, that's when Calix entered inside with a glass of whiskey in his hand and leaned his shoulder against the doorframe. "No gifts for me, baby?"
His gift was currently in my handbag so I acted as if I didn't bring him anything. I shrugged. "I didn't know what to gift you."
His eyes twinkled with mischievousness and he pushed himself off the doorframe and walked to me. "You could have just asked me."

"Really? And if I had asked you, what would have been your answer?"
He placed the glass on the countertop behind me and leaning closer, his placed his palm on the kitchen cupboard above me. "Hmm...a kiss would suffice."
Of course. How could I had expected him to give me a normal answer?
"Your face is begging to be punched instead, idiot."
Amusement marred his expression. "Are you this feisty in bed too? I am dying to find out."
He did not! I raised my fist to punch him but he caught it and twisting my wrist, held it behind my back.
His hot breath fanned my cheeks, his voice low and husky, "Spend a night with me, Al. And it will be the best birthday gift to me."
The mental image of us two, tangled together in his bed flashed before my mind and my cheeks started to warm up. Fuck.
"Go fuck yourself!" I spat.
He smiled causing his dimples to appear on his cheeks. "You are blushing. Cute."
"I am not--"
His lips pressed to my forehead causing me to pause. "It's okay if you didn't bring me a gift. Your presence is enough for me."
And no matter how much I tried to stop myself, my heart warmed at that.
His tone was much serious and I realised he was just kidding till now.
"I...did bring you a gift." I admitted.
He looked genuinely surprised. "You did?"
"Yes, it's in my handbag. Let me get it." And he stepped back to allow me to go bring my handbag and I came back to the kitchen where he was waiting for me.
I pulled out the box from my bag and handed it to him.
He eyed it carefully before opening it and pulling out the platinum bracelet and he turned it around inspecting it with a subtle frown on his forehead.
I don't care if he likes it or not.
Or maybe I did.
After a couple of seconds, he threw back his head and laughed loudly catching me off guard.
"Oh God." He laughed as he wore the bracelet in his right hand. "Seriously?"
"You can keep it or throw it, I don't care."
"Throw it? Al, this is the best and the cutest gift ever."

What? He can't be serious.
I tried to play cool. "Whatever."
He came closer and kissed my cheek lingeringly. "Thank you, baby. I am going to treasure this."
And he did considering he is still wearing that bracelet. But whatever, it's not a big deal.
"Calix for fuck's sake get up. You are fucking heavy. You weight is crushing me." I landed some punches on his back and with a groan, he buried his face even more in my neck and his stubble tickled while his lips brushed against my neck.
"You are so rude." He spoke in a hoarse, sleepy voice before finally rolling off me. And he cuddled with a pillow instead.
I swear he is still a kid.
I was about to get off the bed when he caught my wrist and pulled me making me land on my back on the bed.
Half of his face was buried in the pillow and he opened his eyes, staring at me. "Why do you hate me so much?"
I was taken aback by his question. Never once did I expect him to ask me that. I thought it's kinda obvious.
"Because...you are rude to me."
He frowned at that. "I am not rude to you, Althea. In fact, you are rude to me. So, now tell me, why exactly do you hate me?" His tone was genuine, he wasn't asking this just to trouble me, he wanted to know the reason genuinely.
"Because you are annoying." I told him. "You have always been troubling me, teasing me, taunting me since as long as I can remember. And you even interrupted my dates four times, so, yes, I don't like you much, Calix."
"Is that all?"
"Yes."
He kept staring at me, his fingers wrapped around my wrist. And there was this glimmer of sadness in his eyes once again before he released me and I got off the bed and walked inside the bathroom.
What is wrong with him?
.
.
.
Once I walked down, the smell of coffee wafted through the air and I followed it into the kitchen where Calix was setting up the dining table with some waffles and coffee.
He was weirdly quiet ever since he woke up but it's okay, I like the silence or else he would be eating up my head with his nuisance.
I still can't believe he helped me take out those pins from my hair last night and he even brushed it and braided it perfectly. He was so freaking gentle with me that...fuck. I don't wanna say it but it warmed my heart. Seriously.
I took a seat at the dining table and started to eat my breakfast with him sitting opposite to me, his eyes focused on the table
I tried to ignore him, I really tried but in the end I eventually asked him, "What's wrong with you, idiot?"
He lifted his head, his mouth full of waffles and a frown on his forehead. "Huh?"
"Why are you so lost?"
He shook his head and resumed eating. "Nothing."
I kicked his leg slightly from under the table. "You gotta tell me now."
He took a sip of his coffee and his lips slighyt curled into a smirk. "Concerned about me, are you?" He drawled.
I rolled my eyes and regretted asking me. "Ugh. Let it be, I am not interested anymore. And by the way, you are trying to change the topic."
"Am I?"
"Yes."
"Do you really wanna hear what I am thinking?"
"Um...yes."
"Are you sure?"
Okay, now I am not. "You are messing with me. Shut up. I don't wanna hear it anymore."
He stood up and leaned forward. "But I am interested in telling you now."
Knowing he is not gonna leave me unless and untill I hear him, I said, "Okay, fine."
He smirked and lowered his voice. "I am thinking about all the positions I am going to--"
"LA-LA-LA!" I covered my ears with both my hands. "I don't wanna hear that, idiot! Shut up!"
He became silent and as soon as I removed my hands from my ears, he spoke again, "I want to bend you--"
"Oh God, Calix, shut up!" My cheeks turned red. I can't believe he is thinking about all that.
He grinned widely with his dimples on display. "I told ya." And he finally sat back down. "You are cute though, wife." And he winked playfully.
Wife. That word wasn't supposed to make me feel weird in a good way.
I shot him a glare silently telling him to shut his mouth and I ate the rest of my breakfast.
