《The Sun Dragon》The Old Falcon

When word got out that Visenya Targaryen had survived the Sack, it caused much widespread talk.

Some thanked the gods that this was not the case, but others with more nefarious reasons prayed for it to be rectified in the years following the Sack of Kings Landing.

When Robert had found out that the Quiet Wolf had found the princess and let her go, he had raged like a bull.

He had threatened to invade Dorne, and kill the dragonspawn as her called Visenya, himself, but was placated for the time being with a buxom whore and enough wine to knock out an elephant.

Instead, his new hand, Jon Arryn, was sent to Sunspear to negotiate the life of the three year old princess.

Jon mentally grimaced as he faced down the Red Viper of Dorne and the Prince of Dorne, who he knew would never hand over Visenya.

And from what he gathered, the little princess had been sent to the Water Gardens with Jacaerys Blackfyre, protected by the Sword of the Morning himself.

Along with Robert's bastard with Aliandra Sand, Aaron Sand. He had meet the boy once, and Aaron had looked ready to stab him with a butterknife when Jon had said Robert was his father.

"Lord Arryn, we will make this blunt: Visenya will not be killed." Oberyn said.

"I understand that, Prince Oberyn. It is that Robert is now king."

"Through his grandmother, Princess Rhaelle Targaryen, while Visenya is the granddaughter of Aerys and the daughter of the Prince of Dragonstone. Which one has the better claim to the Iron Throne?" Doran said mildly.

"Please, Prince Doran. What can the Iron Throne give to make sure Dorne doesn't rebel and Visenya won't take the Iron Throne as long as Robert lives?"

Visenya, who was listening and watching everything in the solar while invisible, had the same smile of a predator who had caught her prey.

The smile identical her mother and uncles own smiles.

After all, Dorne had many contacts in Essos.

And her Aunt Mellario's family was influential in Essos, with contacts in Norvos, Lorath, Qhorik, and Braavos thanks to her numerous cousins.

Both Doran and Oberyn had made many friendships during their own travels in Essos, many of whom they were still in contact with.

Watching Jon Arryn suddenly have to reevaluate everything he had planned to offer Dorne at that news had been the most satisfying thing Visenya had witnessed in several moons.

Two days later, Arryn was leaving Sunspear with his tail between his legs, having been forced to give more concessions than he had wished as they had taken full advantage of how he had suddenly found himself wrong-footed, was the most enjoyable thing Visenya had seen.

First was repaying Elia's substantial dowry.

Not only that, but he had agreed to give them what would have been Princess Rhaenys dowry, which would have been even more substantial than her mother's, as she was the second daughter daughter of the man that had unfortunately been heir to the throne.

And the Iron Throne would pay for Visenya's own dowry, which would be more substantial than her mother and Rhaenys's dowries, as the eldest daughter of Rhaegar Targaryen.

Bankrupting the Usurper was the least he deserved.

And bankrupting it would be.

They had no doubt that he had always planned to lower the taxes they were forced to send to him, but the Lord of the Eyrie had seemingly panicked the and lowered them even farther.

If the amethyst eyed princess was correct, it was a near 45% decrease- extremely substantial for certain, one that she herself already had plans to take advantage of, and Doran no doubt had even more in mind.

Even better than that, he had been forced to give more concessions than Daeron the Good had given Dorne. They were all seemingly little things, but they would add up.

For they were little, but they included such things as the ability to legitimize any bastard child in Dorne they wanted, the authority to negotiate trade between Dorne and the Free Cities and countries located in Essos without any input from the Crown, and the ability to set their own prices for their own goods.

Small things, but more then useful for future plans.

And: What can the Iron Throne give to make sure Dorne doesn't rebel and Visenya won't take the Iron Throne as long as Robert lives?

The Old Falcon should have worded it better.
