It had been several hours now and Emilia was yet to wake up. The brothers and Lexi were all sat in the hospital room

Damon was sat in the chair by her side, holding her hand.

Mason, Matteo and Lexi sat on the sofa at the end of the room.

Dante sat on a chair in the corner of the room.

Alesandro had landed and was currently on his way to the hospital, he was panicking and extremely worried for his youngest child.

No one spoke.

No one wanted too.

Damon wouldn't take his eyes away from Emilia for longer than a few seconds and whenever the doctor came in he would watch extra carefully.

He was lost in thought about one thing. The abuse. He wondered how bad it was, how did they hurt her? What did they do to stop her talking?

"Mia bambina"

Alesandro was here.

He came rushing into the room. Concern plastered on his face.

He held her other hand and looked over her, she was pale and looked fragile.

"Whoever dared hurt my daughter will pay with their life, I hope they have already started digging a hole to be buried in" he said in such a dark voice. A voice no one but Damon had heard before.

This was the voice of an ex mafis boss who dealt with his most hated and vile enemies.

Lexi couldn't even look at him, the floor seemed to have her attention.

"o potremmo bruciarli vivi" Damon suggested

Alesandro chuckled darkly "sì"

"What have the doctors said so far" Alesandro asked.

Damon knew he would have to tell his dad, it would be better if he found out from him rather than a doctor.

"Just that the surgery was a success, she will be awake soon. How about we go find one and see if we can get a update on her condition" Damon replied.

"Youre leaving her side" mason asked suprised.

"Yes I'd like to know exactly what the doctor has to say"

Once they were both out of the room, Damon spoke "we aren't going to see a doctor "

"Then why am I away from my daughter" he said impatiently.

"Come, we need to talk in private"

This was hard but it has to be done.

"What happened son"

"The doctor informed me of something " how was he suppose to tell him.

"Spit it out"

"She has signs of abuse"

"What!" Alesandro was pissed

"Yeah, they want an investigation opened but after checking with the doctor, the abuse was before a month ago so we should be fine but you will probably need to talk to child services and produce the documents showing her you took guardianship of them " Damon explained.

"I should have known" Alesandro felt as though he had failed as a father.

"I should have talked to her more, I saw the signs but I presumed she was just scared of us and it was a change for her. Maybe I just didn't want to admit it" Damon confessed.

"I saw signs too, the not talking and how she is with her eating habits " he didn't mention the flinching as he knew that was probably his fault.

"At least we know now. I think it's for the best we don't tell the others unless she agrees to them knowing"

"Agreed, they are all already careful around her so it's not like we need to tell them so they can be mindful of what they do. We should consider Lexi"

"What about her" Damon asked

"Was she abused too" Alesandro suggested.

"Well the possibilities are she's a bitch because she was abused or she has no clue which is quite possibly if it's done when she isn't around " Damon said deciding not to tell his father the third option unless he knew more. Damon knew it would break his dad if he told him and so he wanted to be sure. He was most likely wrong and she was simply an entitled bitch.

He didn't want to consider option 3 but the sick thought kept coming back.

"For now let's keep this between us and observe Lexi so we can be sure we don't want to say something we shouldn't" Damon said.

"Agreed. Our focus should be on Emilia once she is recovered we will kill the person responsible "

They both headed back to the hospital room, nothing had changed.

"Is there something we should know" Mason asked quietly after approaching his brother.

"Lets just focus on Emilia for now"

"Shouldn't we be doing something about the person who did this" Dante spoke up seeing how his two older brothers and father didn't seem to be doing much.

"No. Our focus is Emilia" Alesandro told his son.

"But what if they are already on a plane to a different country" Matteo asked.

Damon chuckled, it was dark and sinical "It will give them a head start then because wherever they are, I will find them and put a bullet between their eyes" he said it with such a lack of emotion his siblings, even mason shuddered.

"Damon don't talk like that in from of Lexi" Alesandro muttered.

"My mistake " Damon said however he wasn't bothered.

Regardless of everything, Lexi was still a bitch who he had a strong dislike for.

"May I step out for a moment" Lexi asked putting on a frightened face.

"Are you ok" Matteo asked.

"Yes im fine"

"See now look what you have done, you have scared her Damon" Alesandro said.

" avrebbe potuto essere un nemico, non dovrebbe andare da sola, potrebbe essere la prossima " Damon said ignoring his father's comments.

"Lexi you may go but not alone, just in case whoever did this comes for you" Damon added, director speaking to Lexi this time.

"It's a hospital I doubt anyone will do anything" Lexi whispered.

"That's what they want you to think, Matteo go with her" Damon said

"But what if I need the toilet" Lexi countered.

"Then he will wait outside, we can't risk this happening to you either" Damon said.

"Damon is right, Matteo don't let her out of your sight" Alesandro added.

Damon smirked, he had gotten his way. Maybe playing the concerned brother would get him the anwsers he needed.

"So we won't be going after the one responsible for this straight away however I want you all to start looking. I will be talking with the principal but I might not have time do much else so Damon you will be in charge of finding this person " it was a logical move since Damon had the power of the entire mafia.

"What's more important than Emilia and finding the person responsible " Mason asked.

Damon and Alesandro shared a look, both knew Alesandro was going to be busy with this investigation.

"So since this looks like attempted murder the police have got involved, it isn't ideal but the school had to inform them and because we recently took over guardianship, social services were notified so I have to deal with them and such" Alesandro told them, it was the truth but it was missing out key parts.

Mason and Dante accepted his anwser, knowing it would keep him busy.

"Great, whoever is responsible will have been seen on one of the CCTV cameras, the place where it happened had no cttv and we know there was no witnesses. As it is a school, students and teachers in the hallway arent going to show much so mason and I will be going over the cttv to look for anyone who shouldn't be at the school on any of the cameras. Dante I want you to talk to students, find out if anyone knows anything" Damon told them all.

"And of course Emilia might be able to give us a name when she wakes up"

Emilia started to wake up a few hours later, everyone was in the room, mostly talking amongst themselves accept Damon and Alesandro. Alessandro had taken Damon's seat and sat holding her hand. Damon had asked a nurse for another chair and he had put it at the other side of her, holding her hand just like he had been doing for hours.

"Shes waking up" Alesandro stated.

Soon Emilia was awake. She looked around and saw everyone watching her.

"Hey bambina, do you know who we are" Alesandro gently asked.

Emilia just looked around in confusion.
