Harvey and I sat in my garage after doing some maintenance on my car, it was making some fucked up noise after the race, turns out there was a small blockage in the exhaust system but Harvey had it sorted within the hour.

If that lanky blonde boy is good for something, its making sure my car doesn't kill me.

We pulled out the foldable chairs and the crate of beers I keep in the mini fridge in here.

"So we're not going to discuss how you almost kissed Nyx at the tracks?" Harvey asked, biting off the beer top with his teeth.

Almost?

I've kissed her so much and so deeply that I could probably describe the taste of her spit.

But he doesn't need to know that just yet.

No one does.

"Yeah" I drawl out.

God i really hope he doesn't want to talk about this.

"Just yeah? Charlie I know you almost as well as you know Nyx, so don't think you can hide your feelings from me" Harvey says, taking a swig from his bottle.

Fuck sake

I knew he wouldn't let this topic slide

"Well theres nothing say, we almost kissed"

"It's been a long time coming. Do you have feelings for her?" He asks.

"We're really doing this?" I ask.

"Yep" Harvey pops the p,

"Yeah we've made out before... a couple of times"

I guess someone does need to know.

"I'm sorry what?" Harvey asks, looking awfully surprised.

"Yeah?

"Like full on swapping spit?"

"Oh yeah, full blown tonsil tennis on a roof top" I say.

"I bet the 12 year old you was ecstatic" Harvey says.

"Definitely, I didn't think it would ever happen" I say, telling him the truth.

Never did I ever think that I'd be sneaking up onto rooftops to kiss the girl who I've seen be kissed so many times before.

Weirdly, i never felt jealous back then. Even when it was with Connor, I wasn't jealous. Towards the middle of their relationship I was only angry, i felt pure rage towards him once I found out how he treated her.

So many times I had to comfort Nyx after their heated arguments, she would beg me not to cause drama or make things worse by confronting him.

We both knew it would've been a bloodbath.

"It's about damn time, you've been drooling over her for a while now"

"So do you like her?" He asks curiously.

I give him a pointed look.

"I think we both know the answer to that" i say, neither confirming or denying it.

"I think everyone knows the answer to it, we see the way you look at her" Harvey smiles.

My dad always tells me to have trust in timing.

I think he always knew that whatever it is that is happening between Nyx and I was inevitable.

Mom on the other hand just tells me that my tattoos are pathetic because she's upset that I'm not legally supposed to have them.

"Now you're taking it too far, I don't look at her like anything" I say.

Harvey gave me a pointed look before handing me another beer.

"Are you that in denial?" He asks.

Maybe

"Im not in denial at all"

Yes i am

Before Harvey can say anything further, i chug down the rest of my beer.

"Charlie you can't chug your beer in hopes of drowning your feelings for Nyx" he laughs.

I shoot him a glare before saying" fuck off"

"I'll give you some advice" he starts, but I cut him off.

"I didn't ask for fucking advice" I say.

"Yeah well shut the fuck up, I'm going to tell you anyway"

Great.

"You've known Nyx for years, you also know her better than anyone else, probably better than she knows herself i'd say" he starts

I can't tell if he's going to bollocks me, threaten me or encourage me to get with her.

I don't think i like any of those options.

"I know i said we all see the way you look at her, but have you seen how she looks at you?" He questions

She usually looks at me like I've just told her to eat shit.

"She looks at you like she owes you the world, as if you've saved hers, you're her moon and she's the stars"

That's heavy.

"You're her world and as much as you don't want to admit it, whatever the fuck is going on between the two of you is inevitable; but now you have to decide if you want to continue going the way you are, or if you want to stay platonic, but just know that you might just fucking break her if you don't tread with caution" he says, taking a break to drink his beer, but I can tell he isnt finished.

"You'll have to make the choice sooner rather than later though, because sneaking onto roof tops to kiss is a slippery slope"

If its a slippery slope then I'm fucking slidin'

"You're preaching to the choir here" i laugh, trying to make the conversation less tense.

"Charlie" he looks at me like the older brother that he might as well be.

"I know, I know" i groan.

Obviously i'll pick Nyx over everyone else any day of the week.

Even if she doesn't do the same for me, It wouldn't change a thing for me.

There isn't a world in which I would choose someone over her, no one even comes close.

I've wanted to kiss her so many times over but overthinking killed so many opportunities for me.

"Take her on a date" Harvey states

"I'm sorry?" I splutter, almost choking on my beer,

"Are you fucking deaf? I know you heard me"

He doesn't like to play when it comes to peoples emotions.

"Oh yeah because that'll go down grand. Hey Nyx, i know we've only kissed maybe three times but do you want to go on a date with me? The guy who's previously been nothing but strictly platonic for the last eleven years of your life" I mock.

"I never thought I'd see the day where you're scared to speak to Nyx" he laughs.

"I'm not scared, i just know it won't end well"

"Yeah right, unfortunately man you've got to make a move, lest' you want someone else to do it for you. I bet Oliver would love to give it another go"

"Shut the fuck up" I snap

"Exactly, guys want what other guys have and right now you have Nyx, your friendship has put her on the map"

"Keep her fucking name out your mouth if you're going to talk about her like she's someones property" I say, my voice raising above an appropriate level.

"Charlie, you know I don't mean it like that, i have the most respected for Nyx and she kinda scares me" he laughs.

I know he doesn't mean to be slightly misogynistic, that he's just giving me the push he thinks I need.

"Just think about it"

I already have

"So i overheard your conversation with Harvey today" dad says as we sit for dinner.

It was just dad and I for dinner tonight, mom was pulled in for last minute shift at the hospital she works at and if this is the conversation my dad and I are going to have, I'm happy mom isn't apart of it.

"Fantastic" I roll my eyes.

"I just want to give you some advice" he say's.

"Why does everyone want to give me advice all of a sudden" I grumble, starting to get a slight attitude.

"Because we're all sick of watching you look at her with puppy eyes from a far" he starts.

Do I actually look at her like that?

I mean probably, that does sound like me.

"Its fine if you don't want to admit you like her yet, but we both know it"

I was about to interject but before I could he cut me off.

"And don't deny it, unless you want reminding of the time poor Noah had to bring you home because of how fucked up you got after you found out about Connor and Nyx" he subtly reminds me, causing instant flash backs.

Almost like PTSD.

Despite being absolutely wrecked that night, I still remember after Nyx basically begged me not to fight Connor, I took myself to a shitty bar downtown, getting so plastered that I ended up fighting two men as well as the bouncer, who then called Noah from my emergency contacts to come pick me up.

That night still haunts me and I'm terrified Noah will bring it up to use against me.

I shudder and dad laughs at me.

"So you think I should ask her on a date?" I ask, double checking that I'm reading the room right.

"Obviously, do you need me to spell it out for you son?"

Before I could tell my dad to stop being a dick, we hear a loud smashing noise.

Dad puts down his fork as we make eye contact and I get up, grabbing the metal bat that's mounted on the wall behind us.

It's signed by my dads favourite baseball player so I'm hoping I don't have to use it.

The noise was loud enough for us to hear but quiet enough that we knew it didn't come from within the house.

I ran straight to the garage only to find it broken into, the windscreen and wing mirrors on my car broken as well as slashed tyres.

I hear tyres screeching and the light from the tail lights faded away into the darkness of the cold night.

Fuck.
