A loud buzzer echoed throughout the stadium while the crowd on our side of the stadium erupted in loud cheers and screams.
I shot up to my feet, cheering as loud as I could while Nathan jumped up and down in front of me. He broke for a sprint down to the field but I caught him before he reached the stairs. "Nathan," I laughed, pulling him back and picking him up. He stared at me, the lollipop jutting out of his cheek. "Where are you running off to? I thought we told you, no running in the crowd."
"But I want to see Uncle Adam," he pouted.
I set him down carefully. He's heavier now that he's three years old. "I'll take you. Come on." I wiggled my fingers. He grabbed my hand tightly and I slowly walked down the bleachers while he took one big step at a time. We reached downstairs right behind the barrier and I turned around, taking him with me into the lounge room inside.
"No! No! Uncle Adam!" he whined, refusing to move.
I sighed and stopped, turning around and kneeling on the floor in front of him. "Uncle Adam and all his friends are about to come in here soon, you know? I thought you'd want to see him alone. Everybody out there wants to see Uncle Adam but Uncle Adam will come here to see only you. Plus, he's all stinky and sweaty. Let me get you some M&M's in the meantime. Which one do you want, look?" I pulled him towards the vending machine, fishing some money out of my purse.
"That one!" He gasped and pointed eagerly at the packet of chocolate ones.
They slowly fell out and I reached down, taking them out and holding them out for him. He jumped to grab them but I pulled them away quickly, receiving a glare. His brows furrowed and he tipped his chin down, looking at me with such anger. He was so adorable.
"What do you say?"
"Oh." He relaxed. "Thank you," he giggled.
I handed it to him, ruffling his hair. As the team members started pouring in, I held him back until Adam walked in with his helmet under his arm.

"Uncle Adam!" Nathan screamed at the top of his lungs, throwing the M&M's to the floor.
I stared at the scattered colorful chocolates. "Well, there goes that," I mumbled to myself while Nathan ran over.
Adam set his helmet down and scooped Nathan up. "Hey," he gasped in excitement, giving Nathan a huge kiss on the cheek. "How'd you like the game, Nate?"
"You were so cool! But I- I don't- I didn't know who was you," Nathan replied, still stumbling over his words like any three-year-old would.
"That's okay. We all look the same out there," Adam laughed, setting him down and ruffling his hair like I did before walking over to me, Nathan at his side. "Hey," he smirked at me.
"Hey," I chuckled, going up on my toes as he leaned in to kiss me.
Not even a second later, I felt Nathan tugging at my t-shirt. I pulled away, looking down at him. "My M&M's," he whined, staring at the ground.
"Well, you dropped them," I mumbled, getting him another pack but not opening this one. "We'll open this in the car, all right?"
"Thank you, Em!" He hugged my waist tightly while watching at all the other team players and I patted his back softly, smiling down at him.
"I'm heading to take a shower, I'll meet you back here, okay?" Adam asked.
I nodded, pecking his lips before he left. "Let's sit down, Nate," I said, walking towards the couch and sitting down, pulling him into my lap. I saw him rubbing his eyes while yawning and I realized how tired he was.
Nathan had been up since this morning and skipped his afternoon nap because that's how excited he was to watch Adam's first game in the stadium himself.
"You want to take a nap, baby?" I asked.
He hummed in response, dropping the M&M's packet on the couch. I kept them beside me and turned him around. He rested his knees on the couch on either side of me and then put his head down on my shoulder, facing me as he hugged me. I drew circles on his back like Remy told me to do whenever I was putting him to bed. "Mommy doesn't do it like that," he mumbled sleepily.

I paused and thought. "Does she do it under your sweater?" I whispered.
He hummed again.
"My hands are kind of cold, Nathan."
He only hummed again.
I slipped a hand under his sweater and his back was really warm, almost burning up a bit. I frowned in confusion but continued rubbing his back until he started breathing evenly.
Until Adam came out, Nathan stayed asleep and once Adam was out, he made his way over. "Is he tired?" he asked softly, brushing Nathan's hair out of his face.
"He's burning up," I mumbled. "We should go home."
He nodded and took Nathan from me, carrying him outside and to his car. I opened the passenger door and sat down before he put Nathan in my lap and then got in the driver's seat, taking us home. When we stopped at a light, Adam faced me, resting his head against the seat.
"Are you tired?" I asked as he reached over to tuck my hair behind my ear.
He hummed, nodding softly. "Will you give me a massage?" he asked, smiling teasingly.
"We're supposed to be taking care of Nathan while Remy and Aspen are on that trip. You want me to give you a massage instead?" I laughed softly.
"He's sleeping. He will be sleeping in his room. Come on. Please? My back is killing me."
"That makes sense, considering the entire opposing team fucking jumped on you," I huffed. "God, you know, I hate watching you play sometimes. How can a game get so violent at times? Do you seriously like it?"
He shrugged, resuming the drive. "Sometimes. It's an outlet for any stress."
"Yeah, well..." I mumbled under my breath, "There can be fun ways to relieve stress too."
He glanced at me, smirking, "Yeah? Like what?"
I snickered, "Like that massage, you asked for."
He sighed, slowing down and parking the car in his reserved private parking before climbing out. He took Nathan from me quickly and then we headed upstairs. I took out the key card from my purse that provided us access to the penthouse where we lived and scanned it before pressing the button.
When we got upstairs, we headed straight upstairs. Nathan was staying in the spare guest room because Remy and Aspen were gone for two weeks on a little holiday, that's why Nathan's staying with us. They were in New York for a holiday but went over to Florida to meet some of our family and the trip was getting a little too much for Nathan who started feeling homesick by then, so that's why he stayed behind with us for two weeks.
For the past few days, since he got here, Adam and I would either both put him to bed in his room and then come back to our room, or we'd take turns. Since tonight he was already asleep, Adam tucked him in, checked his temperature, which was thankfully normal, and then left his door open a bit so he could come get us if he woke up and needed anything, and then we headed to our own room.
Adam sighed loudly, heading to the closet where he grabbed me a black silk set pajamas set, throwing them to me, and then took a pair of black sweatpants for himself. We both carelessly changed in the room and then he lay down while I took our clothes, dropping them in the hamper in the bathroom and coming back with a bottle of lotion.
Adam grinned, staring at me. "I thought you wouldn't give me a massage today," he teased, rolling onto his stomach.
"Shut up," I laughed, straddling his back and squeezing lotion onto his back, laughing as he gasped loudly.
"Why is that so cold?"
I snorted before I began rubbing it gently, kneading his back. I moved my fingers in circles, used my knuckles, gave him the kind of massage I do after every game he plays. He reciprocates whenever I ask. I stopped when I realized he had fallen asleep too. I climbed off of him slowly, rubbing whatever was left onto my arms and then leaving the lotion back in the bathroom before flicking the light off and climbing in beside him.
He stirred a bit and blindly reached over, his arm going around my waist as he rolled onto his side and pulled me in, resting his hand on my bare thigh. He shuffled closer as I stared at him, a smile tugging at my lips.
I leaned up, gently kissing him, just a peck, and he kissed me back softly in his sleep. I reached up, stroking his cheek for a while until I got sleepy myself and eventually dozed off.
