《Unkillable Loser》Chapter 13: God of Light

May Sullivan POV:
Everything happened pretty fast after that. With the stupid buzzing in my ear and the general chaos of our situation I felt like my head was spinning the whole time we moved through the halls of this supposed palace.
We changed locations, got sat down for a meal, and then Tony got shot while I watched.
You know I feel like I’m a very rational person, but when the one loadstone you’ve been latching onto in a storm gets shot sometimes you get a little angry.
I hadn’t realized that I was relying on Tony so heavily in this whole thing since I’d been distracted. But he’d been so calm and decisive the whole time while I wasn’t even confident my mind was doing ok. So when he got shot…
I immediately thought about how to kill the guy who shot him. I wished for his death, I needed his death, you could say I prayed for it in those few seconds. For just those few seconds I wanted that man, who I didn’t even know, dead more than anything in the world.
“Wish Granted”
At that moment there was a sharp sound as Shanks pulled his sword on the person with the gun, but his sword never got near the transferee. A white line of light appeared around the transferee’s neck and his head fell off with barely a sound and fell in front of Tony.
Well, I guess I’m not crazy. There is an honest to goodness god looking out for me and doing whatever he can to get on my good side. But that thought did not make me feel comfortable. Instead it made me more terrified than when I thought I was crazy. Why?
“Should I kill the rest as well?”
The innocent sounding voice was the crazy one, not me. This “god” had just killed someone during a moment when my anger was high, and he was not afraid to use it on anyone else. He had mentioned purifying other people earlier. Fuck.
Do NOT hurt anyone else!

“But everyone here is a danger to..”
NO ONE ELSE! I choose if I want to be protected, NOT YOU!
“But… But you can’t tell me what to do, I'm a god!”
Then act like one! Grant the wish of your believer! I want you to stand down unless I EXPRESSLY ask you to do something.
UNDERSTAND?!
“...You’re pushy.”
Oh I swear!
“I got it. I’ll be compliant. I want you as a holy maiden so I’m not purposely trying to antagonize you, you know.”
I looked warily at Tony on the ground, bleeding all over. The anger was gone and the god was quiet so I could finally process that one of my few friends was lying on the floor dying.
…
Hey god or whatever.
“...God of LIGHT!”
Can you heal that person?
“Is that an express or whatever request?”
Oh you frustrating… Yes it is an express request.
“I can certainly do that for you but, I don’t see the point.”
What, the point? I want him to live, that’s the point!
“But, he’s fine even without my help.”
What?
It was at this point that the “healer” behind Tony started to get confused and Tony popped up like he was just lying down on purpose.
He lifted his shirt and the skin there moved in a disgusting way and spit out what could only be a bullet.
“See?”
Well I’ll be damned.
“Also just to let you know the big guy is looking at you. I think he knows you killed the kid with the gun.”
YOU killed him.
“But it LOOKED like you did.”
Fuck.
I glared at Shanks and everyone else in the room that seemed to be giving me the eye. Shanks flinched when I did that. The person the size of a bear flinched just from a look. At least that’s convenient, I don't have to worry about him for now.
Jullian went up and started clinging to Tony while crying. I continued looking around for any problems while Idiot 2 began to sob.

Idiot 1… I mean Tony, seemed really composed as though he wasn’t choking on the ground a second ago. His composure helped bring my emotions back into check. I have never had to rely on someone to keep my emotions in check like this before, but I desperately needed some stable ground to stand on right now and Tony was the stablest thing in this room despite just being shot.
Things started to move again and we were quickly swept into a room with a podium and they explained how they would be checking our “Windows”. While everyone else seemed to get excited I got concerned.
Hey, god of shiny things.
“It is God of Light!”
Whatever, what is going to show up on my window when I go up there?
“Well, your affinity for holy power, and your insane level of mana.”
… Anything else?
“Well… the fact that you’re a holy maiden candidate, and that I’m protecting you”
Oh no. Can we take that off? You’re a god you can do that right?
“Well I think it is quite rude that you don’t want our relationship to be known.”
Never, ever phrase it that way again. There is no “relationship”, you are an intrusive bug in my ear and a phsycopathic murderer.
“You are the meanest follower I have ever had.”
I am not your follower!
People were going up to the stage one by one and I knew my time would come soon.
Please, please do something to this window thing so that I don’t scare everyone.
“Hmmmm. I can’t change any of the information to be false since the god of systems is in charge of the windows, but I can add something to keep people from being hostile. Is that good enough?”
I guess it’ll have to be, after all, the last person that wasn’t me or Tony had just finished and was walking down from the stage. I’d faintly heard the prince tell Tony he was supposed to go up last. So it was my turn whether I was ready or not.
I walked up with anxiety in my heart. This god can at least handle this one thing right? He’s a god, he should be able to handle it.
I kept repeating this in my head as the mage drew the lines in the air that would show my window. I’m sure the anxiety showed on my face as Tony looked up at me with worry.
Then my window popped up.
And it got so, so quiet.
Oh no.
I slowly turned my head to look at my page like a rusted robot that needed oil.
My page looked like everyone else's, except the high mana, the blessing of a god, and the Saint Candidate thing. But it was way too quiet.
Hey Mr god of flight?
“Light”
Whatever. How do humans see you as a god. Are you well liked?
“Um. Liked… might not be the most accurate phrase. Do they respect me? Yes. Do they value my followers for their abilities to purify? Yes. But ‘like’? Umm.”
As the god buzzed in my ear the mage was backing away from me ever so steadily.
“OH! I know the right word for how humans feel about me. They feel FEAR! Humans have always been weirdly afraid of me. I can’t fathom why?”
Fuck.
Prince Altru told the mage to open my description panel. I had a bad feeling…

I really want to improve as a writer, so any criticisms are more than welcomed.

The Legend of the Fake Hero
*I don't own the cover image**This has the Tragedy Tag; please no genre hate. Bad things can happen to good people, just like in real life (not that they will. I almost didn't put the tag there as it doesn't really fit the genre. I like happy endings.).The year is 201X, and the line between reality and the imaginary has become blurred. Approximately nine months ago, the event which became known as "The Convergence" occurred. People on Earth began to obtain powers. Some received them for seemingly no reason while others had obtained them after they had returned from the many different worlds that they had unwillingly been abducted to. These new worlds existed beyond time and space, and many could have different rules different from what we know as standard reality. That is because these many worlds seem to have traits taken from imagination. Things from stories and myths, like magic and plots, existed in these worlds as if they were inspired by them, and that was only a start. On earth, there was a young man. On appearance, he could be considered only slightly better-than-average. The only thing he was known for was his incredible mind that left him feeling bored and out of touch with reality. But soon he would leave this reality altogether. One moment he was lying in his bed. The next, he was face-to-face with a beautiful young lady who he had just woken up upon him falling into her bed. This young man has an incredible fate and will soon visit many worlds, gain many powers, and meet many women who, like the young girl whose bed he had fallen into, will blow him away.Upload Schedule (Updated 3/28/2021)Upload one chapter every-other-weekend PST (with rare exception, typically due to length).Breaking Fate/Origin Arc (Done) Albion Arc: Vol 1 - Origin, Vol 2 - Rise of the Red Dragon (Done) New Earth Arc: Vol 3 - New Earth (Done) Dealing with the Past Arc: Vol 4 - Ghosts of the Past, Vol 5 - The Dracul Descends, Vol 6 - War of FateBound Fate Arc Fake Hero Arc Vol 7 - Martel Side Stories #1 Shield Hero Arc Vol 8 - Second Chance Vol 9 - The Adventure Begins (Current) Vol 10 - First Quest Vol 11 - TBD (Writing [37%]) (Multiple Future Volumes TBD)Currently ONLY posting on Scribble Hub, Royal Road, and Wattpad (Same user name)If you find my work on other sites please let me know!

Reasons to Stay
Immortality has a cost, it differs from person to person. Some regret seeing their loved ones die, some regret they themselves cannot die, some regret the boredom and some regret nothing. This man regrets not having a choice, so after millions of years of getting shot, beheaded, beaten, stabbed and stoned he escaped from the world by hiding in a bunker with his books. He had studied all forms of science, he had lived history and created art, he was content with being alone with his mind until one day a man with a monocle appears, and he learns the truth. Hi! This is my second novel and I just had this idea when I was trying to sleep and my mind was making me re-live all those goddamn nightmares you don't want when it's 1 am and dark as shit, so I thought of happy things like the fantasy genre and my inevitable death and i'm like why not?

HEIMDALLR
After his first life, Heimdallr felt he had lived a decent way; he wrote stories and lived a simple life, avoiding publicity and focused on promoting growth to the few who cherished his works. But after being reborn as Heimdallr Dagrsson, one of the many sons of Daesal's greatest warrior Dagr, he was put into a world devoid of wide-spread access to reading and writing. Instead, he was dropped into a world where fighting and death commonly reared their heads. Now, faced between his unsupported passion and his new life's innate talent and upbringing, he will have to find his new path. He will forge a new story that would make even himself dubious of whether or not it's fact or fable. HEIMDALLR is a story taking place in the setting created for another previous work of mine called KOBOLD. It follows a reincarnated person trying to wrestle between their old life and new life's wants and needs, all the while adapting to the situations that arise out of his control. Heimdallr starts out trying to survive and live a new life, all the while facing challenges and growth both fantastical and painfully real. Loosely inspired by Norse mythology and histories (names and some themes), spun into a fantasy, grit-rooted world. Skål! All content warning tags are applied so as to allow freedom of writing but there is no intent of excess or even regular use of these themes. Regardless of this, any and all uses will have dedicated warnings presented in the chapter whenever they are present! Reader beware!
