《Iridescent (E. Cullen)》Chapter Fifteen

The rest of the morning passes by with an awkwardness. Because things have changed. With Zen outing the vampires. She can feel them watching her. Waiting to see if she is going to tell anyone else, if she is going to say something. Emmett knows she won't though. If she has known this long and not said anything, she isn't suddenly going to do it now. He understands that. He is just having a hard time convincing some of his family members, Rosalie specifically. She is very vocal in her dislike of Zen knowing about them and them not knowing how or why she is so willing to keep it to herself. Emmett glances at his side, in class, he can still be close to Zen, physically, even if there is a huge emotional and relationship space between them. Instead of a comfortable ease between them, there is a tension that he hates. Because he makes her nervous now. Perhaps even scares her. He never wanted to scare her. He never wanted this. It's hard for her too. Because she does genuinely like Emmett, and she was fine with the vampire thing, it didn't bother her, until she told him she knew. Until she voiced the knowledge. That's when this awkwardness between them started. Because he knows that she knows what he is. It's like a switch went off in her with the admittance. But it is ridiculous. If she wasn't afraid of him before she shouldn't be afraid of him now. Zen lets out a breath and closes her eyes as he brushes his fingers against hers. It's been only a day and a half, but she misses him. She misses the ease of their friendship. The comfort she got from it. She loves Charlie and Bella, truly she does, but they are human. With Emmett, she knew that he understood being different and acting normal. From behind her, Zen can feel Rosalie's glare aimed right at the back of her head. The blonde has some serious issues. Zen pulls her hand back from Emmett and goes back to doing her work. That is part of the reason she said nothing. Whilst Emmett is a sweetheart, the same cannot be said for the others in his life. He might not hurt her for what she knows, but the others might not be so agreeable to letting her live with this secret. There are only two ways this can go. They kill her or she gives them a reason why she is not going to spill. And there is only one thing that will get her to option two. She tells them the truth about herself. She has to trust them with her own secret. So they know that she has just as much to lose as they do. She knows she has to talk to them. She closes her eyes and then touches Emmett's hand this time, curling her fingers around his wrist before she leans closer to him. Emmett looks at her.

"Can we talk?" She asks him. "After school...after dinner?" He searches her eyes and then nods. She wants to wait until Charlie has gone to work, so she can go out without explaining to him what she is doing. She hates the idea of lying to him and she doesn't really want to sneak past him either. She can do both of those things well, but she doesn't like doing them to Charlie, not after everything he has done for her. "With your family?" He nods again, twisting his hand slightly so he can hold her hand instead of having her hold his wrist. He doesn't need his brother's gifts to tell that she is nervous about this. And he understands why. They are dangerous. And they can hurt people. It's something he has feared since the moment that they met, as much as he has come to adore her.
.......
Later, Zenaida pushes through the school doors and steps out into the parking lot. She's skipping the rest of the day. It is only Spanish and Biology, and the latter is why she is skipping. They are doing blood testing. She is not getting involved in that. For obvious reasons. She assumes that the vampires will be skipping as well. Rather than tempt fate. She also assumes that they don't actually want to slaughter the entire student body in one afternoon. They've been careful about it this long. She blows her hair out of her eyes and pauses her steps. Her eyes find Emmett, he is standing at her bike, and she can feel Rosalie, Jasper, and Alice across the parking lot next to their own vehicles. They are waiting for her. She knows that much. Can read that much on them even without reading their minds. She knew they wouldn't let it go. So much for after dinner. She wanted time to go through what she is going to say. She lets out a breath and gives him a look and he shrugs back. She heads towards him, intending on still going home to plan this conversation out, even if deep down that is not going to happen.

"I am guessing that you are not going to let me go home first" She comments as she gets closer to Emmett.
"I got them to hold off this long" Emmett admits and gives her an apologetic smile. He wanted to give her time. The time that she needed. But the rest of his family is on edge, he understands why, but it is not going to help them with Zen if they force her into a situation with them. Zen knows she can't put this off. It's just going to make things worse. That awkward tension that sits over them. They have to know she won't tell anyone about them. Otherwise, they are always going to be watching her. Waiting for her to spill. She has to tell them about her own thing. She has to reassure them that she is not a threat to them because she has just as much to lose as they do.
"Alright" Zen whispers. "Let's get this over with...." He moves closer to her, holding out his hand to her. She looks down at it and then up at him. He tries to reassure her with a smile. He doesn't want her to think that he is going to hurt her, or let them hurt her. He won't. He trusts her and he wants to try and make them see what he sees in her. But she needs to trust him back. She lets out a breath and then slides her hand into his. They then cross the parking lot towards his siblings. Rosalie looks the most displeased about the situation, but that's not surprising, she's been that way about this whole thing since Bella turned up. She is only looking out for them, but she is doing it in the most aggressive and unhelpful way. Zen lets out a breath and stands up taller, trying to hide her unease at this whole thing. "If you do all end up crazy murdering me...can you at least bury what's left somewhere pretty so I can haunt somewhere with a good view?" Emmett snorts a little but none of the others looks amused, except for Alice and her little smirk. Jasper actually appears to be the most concerned, and Zen thought it was Rosalie with the issues. "Alright" Zen whispers and looks at Emmett for a little help here.
"You can ride with me," Emmett tells her, she glances at him, and raises an eyebrow.
"And my bike?" She counters.
"I'll bring you back for your bike" He assures her, she hums and nods. That's good enough. And implies that he is at least going to get her through this conversation alive and intact at least. Emmett gently squeezes her hand before he leads her towards his jeep. Leaving his siblings to share a look. Alice starts to beam, hugging to Jasper's arm before they turn and climb into their own cars.

For example if everything must be logical, the world would be destroyed after a few years by the nuclear power plant that was not being taken care of. The story couldn't go on if it was like that. So, don't go tattle on me. Notice: I made that cover. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=Other tag: Romance. Drama

The Chronicles of The Green wizard
Garion Greensleeves always was an oddity. The first son of High-Wizard Garius Greensleeves and Adricor, a Noble woman of well renown, he would of stood to inherit much. However, on the night of his first full moon, as a baby he disappeared from his cot. His parents, after much frantic searching, found the babe crying in a small clearing of trees, a large feline creature pacing defensively around him, the bloodied corpse of a fox resting at its feet. As the parents approached, the beast transformed into a small owl and flew around the clearing before perching on a low branch of a tree nearby. From this moment on Garion's fate had been decided. Only those with magical blood could be capable of calling out to such a being as this. As Garion grew older, the transforming creature remained by his side. Wizards from all the continents visited the glade to see the child who had bound a familiar to his will as a babe. At age seven, Garion left his home glade and travelled the world studying to become a recognised guilded wizard. After many years he was granted the title of Wizard and was sent forth to advise, learn and ponder on behalf of the guild. After a while, Garion was assigned to a small nation within the vast continent mainly populated by man-folk known as The Patchwork kingdoms.
