《Tales of Teleios》XXXV: The Expedition

This should be the easiest expedition ever tasked to Arete. Taking over the nearby small state of Thapsos. As they refuse to declare their loyalty towards Rome, Amiran saw the importance of taking over the land.
“Thapsos will definitely crushed if Rome took over them. And we must take them down before Rome.” Said Amiran, pointing at the drawn map on the table, Thapsos was just at the north side of Syracuse. The place was dangerously near to their city-state.
“Indeed, my lord. I’ve send messengers to warn their statesmen, but they continued to bark at Rome. It’s best that we took them down before they trigger the Romans.” Apollodorus added.
Arete and the other generals were in this meeting, but Chlorus was not there. He used to be the top general within them. Arete was accompanied by Arctus and Petraeus. They were both previously under Chlorus’s command. While Hector, another general trained by Apollodorus, was also in the room with them.
Hector was bulky but short. Next to him, were two larger and taller men. They were all muscular and standing still, without making a sound, they listen to Amiran and Apollodorus’s discussion.
“What do you think? Hector?” Asked Amiran.
“We estimated Thapsos troops of 10,000, they are without any heavy artilleries and their strength is small. This should be an easy take over.”
Amiran and Apollodorus nodded. They all knew Thapsos limited strength and their core reason to conquer their land.
“Alright, we need to get it done as quick as possible. We may send a message to Rome that we took down Thapsos as a sign of our allegiance. Arete, what's in your mind?” Amiran gazed toward his daughter.
Arete was stunned. It was her first time being asked for an opinion. She used to be just sit and listen.

“You have 12,000 spearmen, 3,000 cavalry and 2,000 swordsmen. What will be your strategy to take the Thapsos down as quick as possible?” Amiran added.
Her eyes widened as she heard the question. Was it her opportunity to lead an expedition?
“We shall focus on our 12,000 spearmen in three Phalanx formations.” Replied Arete with confident.
She had been studying the texts, as the phalanx formation had been known the strongest success recorded within all the scrolls. Furthermore, she outnumbered the Thapsos troops.
“Shouldn’t you move some of your spearmen to guard the rear swordsmen? Some of them are from Rome.” Asked Hector.
Ah, those swordsmen. They were inferior troops given by the Romans as a form of political exchange with their allies. They praise the formation of the legionary. Nothing more than just some over-glorified strategy.
“The Thapsos shall have no chance at all to break through our strong frontline. There should have nothing to worry about!” Arete replied.

“Pardon me, my lady. I don’t mean to protect the swordsmen. I mean we should strengthen our rear formation and use the swordsmen in our battle to diversify our strength.” Hector argued.
Arete felt challenged, but there wasn’t any scrolls that had mentioned about diversify the troops.
“The spear had been the ultimate weapon and it can kill before a swordsman even able to reach to him. Give me a logical reason on why swordsman should be used.” She argued.
“The Romans had multiple successes when they place some spearmen at the rear, given some flexibility to the formation. Swordsmen are good short distance combatants.” Hector explained.
“If we could just quickly wipe off the enemies with our strong frontline phalanx, they won’t even get through our rear!” She defended her strategy.

Hector took a deep breath. He swallowed, as he knew Arete had been trained with an orator. He might further embarrassed himself if continue to argue with her. Furthermore, she’s the daughter of Lord Amiran. When he realised that the Lord hd been looking at him, he surrendered.
“Hector wasn’t wrong, Arete.” Said Amiran.
“My Lord, perhaps this could be an opportunity for us to try out new strategy and formation.” Apollodorus added.
Amiran raised his head and brushing his beard with his hand, he paused.
“Our people had very close relationship with the people of Thapsos. It would be best to end this war as soon as possible with very little fatalities. We will convince the Thapsos army to surrender if we able to show them our majestic frontline!” She added.
Her words strike to the core aimed at her father, he dislike fatalities. And his ultimate purpose for the expedition was to prevent the Romans, in another word, to protect Thepsos from the Romans. He nodded.
“Alright. Arete, this will be your very first expedition. Do your very best!” Amiran said.
Arete was overjoyed.

The Silver Mana - Book 1: Initiate
I used to be a healthy, young guy with a normal life - I had a career planned in professional soccer, a girlfriend, lots of hobbies, and loads of fun. Until the accident. Which changed my life. A few years later I had adjusted to my new reality, adjusted to being in a wheelchair, adjusted to having someone take care of me 24/7. And then the world changed. Old people and kids did not make it. And neither was I supposed to make it. But never count me out. If anything, I am tenacious. This new world was different. People could do magic. And there were monsters. And what about me? I had mana as well, silver mana. Which no one else seemed to have. The only problem was, I did not know what to do with it. Until I really needed to. Author's note: This is the rewrite of Silver Mana. The first bunch of chapters (until I will have caught up to level 2 of the dungeon) should be quite familiar to people that have read the original. There are some changes in content, but the story follows the original fairly closely for at least the first 150-200 pages. Most of the changes are in the writing, and some of the details of how things work. A few of the side characters get a bit more attention too. Some general comments to avoid disappointment: 1. The MC likes to swear. If you object to reading the word "fuck" at least once and usually multiple times each chapter don't read the book. "Fuck" is such a great, allencompassing word... fuck that; what the fuck?; fuck me! Fuck! one word, expressing so many nuances. And, frankly, the people I know that use fuck as a swear word.. they often use it a lot. 2. If you are looking for immediate progression, rapid advancement of the story, etc.... read another book. This one takes a bit. 3. I am NOT Pirateaba (who is writing The Wandering Inn) or anyone close to that level of productivity. If you expect to read 10k words every 3 days, or even just once a week... sorry. I've got a busy life. This is for fun, I have no patreon, paypal, anything, so I write when it is fun and however much is fun. Not more. And sometimes that turns out to be a decent amount, sometimes nothing. I have another book (Marrow) so that complicated things - basically I switch between the two whenever the muse strikes me.

Some people are lucky, some aren't, some - have terrible luck. Our "hero" is of the latter kind. During young age he got into an accident, which allowed him to learn the fact that he belongs to a rare group of people.. People diagnosed with lung cancer, which he, however survived. Can't say he's lucky, as his life went downhill from that point... Our story happens years later, when his fate decides to make a loop and throw him in the same kind of accident. He gets hit by a truck. Surviving the crash, suffering just a few scratches, he is ultimately "lucky" to find himself out of the hospital in no time.. however every bit of good luck always brings him terrible luck afterwards. This time pushing him maybe a bit too far.. How far? Making him vanish without a trace and find himself in the middle of an unknown forrest. Doesn't sound bad? He can consider himself lucky? Just wait and see...It can always get worse.. always.. .... Congratulations, you've made it through the intro and into the author note! If you by any chance missed the tags and didn't read the warning, please do that now. I really recommend you to. Before you jump to reading, and unintentionally scar yourself, do mind that the story is about a dark, unforgiving world, a world in which you have more opportunities to die a horrible death, than take a piss. Hero doesn't have great luck, he has dumb persistance, he doesn't go through any trial with a breeze, he pays the price of blood, flesh and tears to live..and will be paying for every mistake.. No one outright explains anything to him, just as us for the most part - he is not sure what the hell is going on.. Some real survival tactics are used as a base of the descriptions, they are as important to the world and character as any other element.. Mind that the story starts really slow, but as the stone starts rolling downhill - the pace gets faster.. Every tag for this novel has a reason to be there, so if you don't see the particular element there, don't panic.. it's either well camoufalged, subtle or simply not encountered as of yet. Big thanks to Hobbo, Enyhrye and Hveth! ...not only pointing that the description could be better, but providing invaluable input.. and being patient enough to give fleshed out advice.
8 114The Rising of The Young Demon Lord
Can anyone imagine a world where a single species has the whole world at its whims and yet worship a being that practically is non-existence? The dominant species who would lie to their brother in arms, hurt their family…... betray their loved ones to gain some kind of blessing from their so-called "Gods". This sickening way of life is what we humans live by, thinking that the gods are the reason we have lived for over millions of years and not the perseverance of we homosapiens who have met many disasters over the years and prevail. What's even worse is that there are extremists who believe that these disasters are a trial for humans to take to reach the sacred ground of the gods…. This is a story of a young 15-year-old Asagami Haruki who faced the truth of the world face first.
