Chorin totally didn't see this coming.
His friend was pointing his sword at him in the middle of monsters nest.
"the.. truth..."
Chanotte didn't move. He kept his stance.
"I've told you. Libhane ordered me and the others to search for impure mana in this forest. as for what's his purpose... I've found it later that he wants to resurrect that monster"
"how? Roro just said that he needed to offer many deaths and Samhra's nemesis blood to make that happen"
"..... sir, what's matter now is to stop.."
"how"
Chorin didn't answer that immediately.
"can't you tell me Chorin? me, the chief of king's guard?"
"and if i say that i don't know about any of that.."
"it's your choice, really"
Chanotte put his sword down.
-sreek-
-zrrrg-
Roro approached and asked him.
"human, why are you doing this?"
".... I need to know... which side should i choose at this point"
Chorin stared at him.
"sir, did you mean what you've just said?"
"do i look like joking to you?"
"I've just..lost for words.. i understand if commander Libhane did something that could threat human race, but that doesn't mean you can judge the rest of us in the same way"
"can i take that as your answer for my question, Chorin?"
"we have been together since the expedition, you surely know what's my intention. We promised to protect the human race sir Chanotte"
"that's the exact reason why i do this right now"
"please enlighten me"
"just when i thought you are a man who won't waste my time like this..."
-zreeb-
Chanotte stabbed his sword to the ground.
He looked at Chorin's anxious face. For some reasons, he unconsciously smiled in that situation.
"so this is how Yana felt when he explained everything to me in Ohre village"

He was thinking for a while.
"so where should i start.."
He didn't want to waste any more time than necessary, so he needed to make this quick.
"haah.. when i was ambushed that night. Where were you, Chorin?"
"i was in my room. After we discussed about what happened to you in that monster village, i decide to stand by near your room"
"and why should i believe that?"
"...sir?"
"that night, i could clearly see Bar'laghine banner on their clothes. They were Libhane's men for sure"
"obviously sir. Only they who had access to the base beside our soldiers"
"and you let them coming into my room?"
"so this is all about.. you think that i'm the one who let them to capture you that night.."
"give me one good reason Chorin, to end this farce right away"
"is this all because of sir Yana and those monsters? you doubt me, your friend... and the rest of human race?"
-grrt-
Chanotte grabbed the sword in front of him.
"i have never recall you as this kind of... pathetic man. In the past, you will never waste my time like this Chorin"
Chorin didn't respond to his words.
"i see... then there are only two things that i need to find out"
-zriing-
"first.. were you doing all of Libhane's orders by your own choice? and.."
He stared at him.
"is this all buying time situation included in his plan?"
Just when he finished his words, He saw something flying toward the mountain.
"is that...a person? someone using a flying magic device?"
Chorin also looked at the direction and realized who was the person flying toward the mountain.
"that must be Libhane"
Chanotte voiced what was in his mind.

"i thank our holy mother for this opportunity. Now i can ask him about Tinne whereabout"
-shhrrrk-
Roro pointed at the flying object.
"that human... bring an evil.. thing"
"guess so. He wants to resurrect Samhra, there's no way he brings something good with him"
-crek-
He sheathed his sword.
"Roro, your friend told me that you need me to stop all of this ceremony. How will we do that?"
Roro closed its eyes and tried to feel all of mana movements around them.
"we can't go to the mountain. Near his resurrection, only human race is allowed to come.."
"i understand. That's where my part comes. What do i exactly need to do?"
"destroy the evil thing brought by that flying human, then prevent his heart..from getting his nemesis blood"
"simple enough. Let's do that"
Chanotte turned around and ready to chase Libhane.
The Wapeers moved and opened the way for him, yet he couldn't start right away.
"Chorin... is not like i don't understand about your position, our position.. as soldier. But following order is not the only way to do our duty"
He approached him.
"let me ask you, what will you do now?"
Chorin immediately answered this time.
"my priority is to safely bring you back to the capital, and i will do anything to fulfill that"
"..good. That's the answer that i need to hear"
Chorin grabbed his shield and followed his chief to stop Libhane's plan.

The Loyal Ones [Dark Biopunk Fantasy]
TLDR; A slave monster survives horror, war and servitude, while trying to live with himself. Thralls are a race of monstrous slave soldiers, in a universe where biological magic takes the place of technology. Centuries ago, their ancestors were desperate humans, who volunteered to be transformed for the Poison War. Today their unfortunate descendants are still soldiers and laborers. In contract law they are 'corporate wards'; slaves owned largely by arms dealers. Dally Harper starts this story as a champion cage fighter. He is one of the 'lucky' ones. It's all downhill from there. Content Warning: Explicit violence and gore, slavery, implied sexual assault. None of these are framed as positive or glorified, however they do have a strong impact on the plot and main characters.
