XG 77 - Could the chicken talk to the duck?

With the messy floor, it was easy for Man Jeong to ‘accidentally’ trip over something and even ‘clumsily’ grab onto an unstable shelf as support. There were some miscellaneous items on the shelf and they tumbled down to the floor, causing so much noise that even people at the next door could hear.

With a horrified expression, Man Jeong trembled as he guiltily stared at Wong Xue Guo that met his eyes.

“Shit!” Wong Xue Guo cursed as the growls of zombies became louder, along with the sounds of running footsteps.

“I-I’m sorry!” Man Jeong dropped his baseball bat with a loud clang and clutched his head in fierce tremor. His current pose further deepens their view of him being a coward that needs protection.

“Pick up your bat!” Wong Xue Guo hissed at the coward while trying to keep her voice down, not that he could understand what she said.

“Xue Guo, take Man Jeong and hide first!” Chen Yibo urged, stabbing a zombie and kicking away another from reaching out to Wong Xue Guo. Man Jeong’s current state was no use to them.

With a frustrated click of her tongue, Wong Xue Guo grabbed Man Jeong’s wrist and pulled him up. “Come on!”

“Run!” Chen Yibo shouted at Man Jeong in Korean, which finally triggered the scared guy’s survival instinct.

Wong Xue Guo followed behind Man Jeong that finally took off, keeping an eye on any zombie that might follow them. Man Jeong ran like a headless chicken back to the bedroom, but only to return to the wrong one.

“You got the wrong one!” Wong Xue Guo was about to knock on the door of their real hideout when the panicking Man Jeong grabbed her wrist and pulled her into Yuna’s stinky bedroom before locking the door.

“You… haish.” Since they were already in the wrong room, it was useless to scold someone that did not understand what she was saying anyway.

She consoled herself that Man Jeong was afraid and prone to make mistakes in his state. At least he challenged his cowardice and tried to save her too. She had planned to shove him back into the safe room and went back out to fight, but seeing his trembling figure pressing his back against the locked door, she decided to stay with him for a bit.

At least, until he calmed down and then made sure there was no zombie outside, before sending him back to the right room. Those people that were fighting outside should be fine even without her.

But could the chicken talk to the duck?

Wong Xue Guo’s eyes twitched. She had to try. He should have also noticed they had got into the wrong room. Luckily they had removed most of the papers sticking to the window, so they still have natural light seeping into the room.

She pointed at the wall, indicating the next room. "Man Jeong, next door-"

Her words died out when Man Jeong raised his head. Different from what she expected, there was no fear on his face at all and the unexpected expression had the words she wanted to say vaporized from her tongue.

Dare did she say he looked… hungry instead?

She did not guess wrong when he licked his lips, his mouth overflowing with drool rather disgustingly. This type of lecherous gaze was disturbingly similar to those she had seen from the villain perverts in movies when they look at female characters.

She forced her legs to stay still instead of backing away from the deranged leer. It was good that this fool had dropped his weapon, and she still had hers.

In such a situation, he dared to think anything other than the danger outside? He even got in the mood to do it? A pervert’s taste was truly hardcore!

"You look so delicious…" Man Jeong slowly made his way to Wong Xue Guo, no longer bothering to stop his leaking saliva. His fingers itched to rip the face mask off the girl’s face and he bet it would be a soft, cute face.

"You fucking rapist," Wong Xue Guo spatted. Her entire body was filled with goosebumps just from his lecherous gaze. Even if she does not understand what he says, she could guess they must be ill-intended words.

Man Jeong was not a coward at all, and he pretended to be a stupid sheep just to lower everyone’s guard.

She also felt a little stupid for getting into this situation.

With everyone busy outside, it would take a long time before someone thinks to knock on their door. By then, Wong Xue Guo will already be eaten cleanly.

That would have been what happened if it was the ‘Wong Xue Guo’ before the training. Her stamina had not trained to an ideal state yet, but it was still better than an average person. Added with her sword skill, she could more or less protect herself.

Facing Man Jeong that completely changed his cowardly personality into a pervasive one, the overactive mind of Wong Xue Guo had originally assumed that he was not a human, but a zombie that had regained his sanity from mass human consumption.

Learning the experience of the future Chen Yibo, she could not help but think there would be someone else who succeeded in achieving that state.

That thought was rather provoking when she was facing Man Jeong that was drooling way too much, like a hungry rabid dog. She had never met a pervert before or even knew if they would drool this disgustingly.

Her dangerous suspicion was laid to rest when Man Jeong pulled out a knife and fork from the thin pouch she had just noticed, strapped around his waist and concealed under his oversized shirt.

No zombie would eat using a fork and knife, right? He also looks completely like a normal human, with no white hair or shrunken flesh. In contrast, he looked well-fed instead, unlike how people would have difficulty in finding enough food in the apocalypse era.

Her mother had not shared the characteristics of how the zombified Chen Yibo looked and no one dared to ask. But there should still be something off even if they gained back their ‘human’ appearance.

Wong Xue Guo also concluded that Man Jeong was not likely to be a rapist. A rapist had no use of the utensils. Unless it was a weird kink.

There was not even an ounce of cowardice on him when Man Jeong rushed towards her, waving his knife and fork like a ravenous man. She immediately felt like a roasted chicken he was drooling for.

… Shit, cannibalism?!

As a morally upright, law-abiding citizen, Wong Xue Guo’s first thought was to disarm him, not kill him. Her sword looked more lethal than the dining knife and fork, but it was strangely helpless against the sneaky Man Jeong.

It was the second time Man Jeong nearly slipped past her sword to cut her. She was unprepared to deal with this aggressive and unpredictable attack.

During the training, she was overwhelmed by her mother's strength, her father's sharp aura, and Kang Xunsu's testing her defense. They gave her the time and space to get used to their attacks.

But none of them prepared her against this kind of aggressive and relentless charging with unpredictability. Man Jeong’s main attack was using the fork to stab her, and she does not dare to test whether a person could be stabbed till bleeding by a fork. Then at odd moments, he would attack with his knife when he was sure he could land a blow on her.

Could he even pierce past her thick clothing anyway?

Wong Xue Guo could fight against zombies that were single-minded but she was still a newbie when it comes to fighting intelligent humans.

Man Jeong's stomach growled, echoing the hunger in his heart. "Ah… so frustrating. But it adds the thrill to the hunt."

"Are you crazy?" Wong Xue Guo scolded him in English and then switched to mandarin to see if he could understand either of the languages. "Are you that hungry you resort to eating humans?"

The moment she spoke, it was also the moment she revealed a small gap in her defense. Man Jeong grabbed that opportunity and sliced her arm with his dining knife, which answered her question whether he could pierce through her clothing.

It can!!!

A dining silver knife was not overly sharp, but Man Jeong's strength allowed the knife to cut open her jacket and flesh. He must have done this a lot to know the right amount of strength needed.

With a sharp hiss, Wong Xue Guo swung her sword to get him away from her. The cut on her left arm throbbed in pain, but she did not look or press against it to stop the blood.

If she did that, Man Jeong would likely attack her again.

But he does not seem to have the desire to attack for now, with him standing still and licking the knife stained with her blood. "Yum yum~"

"You are a lunatic!" Composure gone, Wong Xue Guo yelled in anger that was supplied by the disgust from his perverted action.

As an educated lady that dissociates with violence and only spar with words and haughty looks, this might be the first time she wanted to smash Man Jeong's disgusting leery face repeatedly with her fist.
