To rise you must have fallen,

I saw the face of the clock and didn't know if it was midnight or noon.

I'm in my room, and the yellowed leaves have fallen,

I slept through that early seminar because I'm a child of the moon.

And I tell myself how I fear I won't be coming back.

How we all have to walk our paths into the black

before we reunite

with the light.

What's the point of anything, I sometimes wonder.

I'm just another number playing the game of life they set up for us all.

I perfect my every move because I cannot afford to blunder.

I'm just going along with this game they made for us all by rolling with the ball.

And I see streaks of gold in the ocean waves that no-one seems to question.

It's so icy cold in this place but at least the cold does freshen

thoughts that were once asleep

dreaming ever so happily,

now they do so much more than peep, they see, ever so willingly.

We're powerless alone but stronger together

and I fear our lives will last forever.

Still, I wonder, will we ever

be told why

by those who live in the sky?

Or will why drift on by,

waving us goodbye.

So lost in the system we forget our purpose.

We stay in the shade away from the sun rays on purpose.

It's about time we brought all that's in our minds to light.

It's about time we stopped being slaves, and put up more of a fight.

Because I can't be contemplating all of these things alone.

I know there's more of us because you're never on your own.

So don't be scared to look to the horizon where the sun rises.

And rise with it, so high and proud, with burning swords that have been sharpened.

They'll answer us, yes they'll come with surprises.

And then we'll finally know exactly what had happened

all this time, to the question why.

The only word that had to die.
