《Dorming With The Jocks》Chapter 27- OLD

Since Rebecca actually had a car, a two door Subaru, we stuffed it full with our bags and waved bye to my mom while Rebecca peeled out of the driveway. I could see my mom's frown from the rear view mirror but it couldn't bother me right now. I was on my way to a ski lodge with my best friend and Charlie.
I had all of the letters Charlie had sent me stuffed into my bag. I loved to read over them since he was so sweet and knew exactly what to say to cheer me up. Since last week when I wrote him and finally gave him my number it seems like I never put my phone down anymore.
"Okay, three hours and twelve minutes to go," Rebecca confirmed, glancing at the GPS before blasting the radio.
Thankfully we have the same taste in music or this road trip could have been very long. In three hours we made it to the lodge where Charlie had give me the address. I quickly texted him we were here and within seconds I got a message letting me know he'd be standing outside the main lodge.
Just like he had said, Charlie stood outside the main lodge, waving his arms at us with a huge smile. He seemed more handsome than the last time I saw him. It looked like he had been working out more too.
"You must be Rebecca, I'm Charlie," Charlie greeted as we pulled up next to him. They shook hands briefly and Rebecca gave a quick 'nice to meet you' back. "Follow me,"
He couldn't stop smiling and before jogging over to jump into his car he blew a kiss.
"He is so much cuter in person," Rebecca commented while we followed Charlie's Tahoe up a snow covered road. I'm thankful Rebecca has snow tires. It was another ten minute drive before we pulled into a large driveway leading to what looked like more of a house than a cabin. It was definitely larger than my house.
"Remind me to ask if Charlie has a brother," Rebecca teased, staring with her mouth wide at the huge cabin.
"Welcome," Charlie opened the car door for me after we parked in the three car garage. He lead us into the house where we were greeted by warm, cozy air and the fresh scent of pine.
"This place is amazing," Rebecca commented, rushing in front of Charlie to take a tour of the house on her own. Charlie chuckled and watched her disappear.
"Sorry about her," I muttered, feeling my cheeks get rosy.

"Don't be, she seems great," He pulled me in to a tight hug and my heart skipped. Something I hadn't felt since Kent had kissed me. Was I really starting to get over Kent finally? Or as I just wishing he was the one here with me instead?
"I'm so happy you're here,"
"I am too," Charlie held me close, glancing between my lips and my eyes for a moment before pulling away and ushering me into the kitchen.
It was a huge kitchen with concrete counter tops, metal industrial lights and beautiful white oak cabinets. The cabinets were paneled with glass windows so you could see the beautiful china that Charlie's mom surely bought specifically for this cabin. The color theme matched the typical cabin colors, different shades of red, black and grey throughout the entire place.
"Whoa," Charlie had told me what his parents did for their careers but at the moment I completely forgot.
"My mom pays someone to come in once a month during off-season to clean and make sure everything's working just fine," Charlie explained while I followed him up the wooden stairs where the hallways were completely open to look down to the main floor. Four bathrooms in total and six bedrooms. We caught up with Rebecca in the master bathroom where she was practically drooling over the massive bathtub that was placed in the corner.
"This place is crazy!" Rebecca confirmed once again, her voice echoing in the bathroom. The huge window that was above the tub overlooked multiple ski lifts and the mountains were beautiful. I would never leave that tub.
"I'll show you the best part," Charlie led the two of us up a tall wooden staircase that hugged around the curve of the wall. As we reached the top and Charlie flicked on that lights I was amazed to see a beautiful media room.
Reclining chairs, just like at the movies, formed three rows with four chairs each and there were couches on the side in case we needed more room. A huge screen was on one wall and a projector was hanging from the ceiling. A full size bar was to the left with a soda and popcorn machine. This place was like a dream.
"I know I already said this but, this place is crazy!" Rebecca ran and jumped onto one of the soft recliners and giggled while I walked over to check out the bar.
"I can make you a drink if you'd like," Charlie wiggled his eyebrows at me while lifting a bottle of tequila from behind the counter. I laughed and just shook my head.

"I think eating before we started drinking would be a better idea," I explained and Charlie put the bottle away, smiling softly down at me.
"Whatever you want Sadie," He leaned over and kissed the top of my head then turned and began walking back down the stairs. He had never done that before.
"You two are cute," Rebecca commented, turning on the popcorn machine and looking for the kernels to throw in. Make yourself at home I guess.
"Does everything seem okay though?" I quietly asked, not sure if Charlie had gone all the way down stairs yet. "This doesn't feel weird to you?"
"What? Stop worrying so much, everything's going to be great," Rebecca opened the mini fridge and pulled out a soda, handing me one as well. "Just relax already Sadie,"
I tried to take my best friends advice but for some reason I couldn't get the knot out of my stomach. This place was beautiful, Charlie was amazing and making this trip even better. But something wasn't right. I didn't want to be here with Charlie.
I want to be here with Kent.
Charlie suddenly appeared again with a worried expression on his face, "Hey, I have to run to the store really quick for some groceries. Do you guys mind staying here for a while alone?"
"We'll be fine, do you want some company?" I asked, Rebecca wasn't even paying attention to our conversation.
"I'll be quick, you two relax and enjoy," He smiled at me before disappearing down the stairs again. I waited for a few moments then turned to Rebecca as soon as I heard the front door downstairs close.
"Time for snooping?" Rebecca asked, jumping up and wiggling her eyebrows at me.
"No," I replied quickly but she had already slipped past me and was heading down the stairs; I chased after her, "Seriously, no. We can't just go snooping around Charlie's parents cabin! That's just rude,"
For some reason I was whispering as I hopelessly chased my best friend down the stairs and into the master bedroom where I had left my things. Rebecca began shuffling through the nightstand drawers but was disappointed when they were all empty.
"Can you please stop? You're making me feel like a bad person right now," I muttered while Rebecca dramatically rolled across the large bed and strutted into the bathroom.
"Oh please, leave the bad person stuff up to me, everyone knows you're basically a fricken saint," She replied sarcastically as she disappeared. I didn't follow her, instead I flopped down on the bed and sighed. She wouldn't find anything here anyway, Charlie came from a good family.
"Bingo!" Rebecca called out, causing me to jump up and rush into the bathroom to find out what she had discovered. Curiosity gets the best of me sometimes, even though I know it's wrong to snoop through people's houses.
Rebecca had opened the cabinets under the sink and dug behind the hand towels until she found two large pill bottles.
"What are those?" I asked, kneeling down next to her and trying to read the labels.
"Risperidome, damn," Rebecca whispered and let out a low whistle, shaking her head and looking at the other bottle, "and Ambien?"
"Do you know what those are?" I had hear of Ambien before, that was like a sleeping pill, but I didn't know what risperidome was. Both of the bottles were nearly full, way too full for a normal prescription.
"Good thing we have google," Rebecca pulled out her phone and quickly tapped away. "It says here it's prescribed to help with schizophrenia, irritability from autism and bipolar disorder,"
"Wow, I wonder why his parents would've left this medication up here, sounds important," I said grabbing one of the bottles from her, the name on the label had been torn off though.
"I think one of my dads ex-girlfriends used to take Ambien a lot, she would go batshit crazy. She never remembered anything the next day either," Rebecca carelessly tossed the pill bottle back into the cabinet and walked away to continued her snooping. I made sure to place the bottles back where they had been previously but not before I saw the name on the Ambien bottle.
Why would Charlie's parents have Missy's Ambien prescription?
I reached for the bottle again, to make sure I had seen the name right, but as I did the front door opened and Charlie called out to us. I hurried to shut the cabinet doors and rushed back into the master bedroom.
"I don't think those are Charlie's parents pills," I whispered to Rebecca as we made our way out into the open hallway. Charlie was standing in the living room, smiling up at us.
"You girls ready to go get something to eat?" He asked and both Rebecca and I agreed, heading towards the stairs. Hadn't Charlie just gone to get groceries though? Something definitely wasn't adding up.
"Who's do you think they are?" Rebecca whispered, taking extra time to get down the stairs. I matched her pace so we had a few more moments before reaching Charlie in the living room.
"I don't know," It would be too much to explain Missy and her whole situation to Rebecca right now, "but I'm going to find out,"
