《Azure Chronicles》Chapter 65: Daemon vs Phantom Part 3

Vivo's Descending Guardian loomed high above and casted a large shadow over the plaza. The Descending Guardian crossed its arms and fully spread out its wings; when the shadow of the Descending Guardian's wings washed over Zalroth a dark circle formed in his shadows.
"I have a question for you, God of Death Incarnation; if you had to choose between capturing a high-ranked villain or saving a single civilian who would you choose?" the Descending Guardian coldly asked; Zulcrestus scoffed as he created multiple darksteel spheres.
"What an idiotic question," Zulcrestus snarked as he grabbed one of the darksteel spheres and morphed it into a quin pronged, with two of the prongs facing backwards, trident.
"I suppose it is," the Descending Guardian said as it uncrossed its arms.
The eyes of the Descending Guardian lit up before unleashing two large precision lightning bolts from its eyes. Zulcrestus remained stationary as one of his darksteel spheres raced ahead of him and morphed into a large shield to block the lightning bolts. The darksteel shield flew behind Zulcrestus before he launched all but one of the darksteel spheres at the Descending Guardian, with the remaining sphere morphing into a second shield.
The darksteel spheres rapidly closed in on the Descending Guardian while beginning to increase the speed of their rotations. The Descending Guardian's eyes tracked the darksteel spheres before firing a cluster of dawnite feathers out from its arm; one of the darksteel spheres collided with the feather cluster and easily pierced through it.
The Descending Guardian quickly raised its wings before swinging them downwards and launching itself higher into the sky as the darksteel spheres raced past the spot the Descending Guardian was previously.
"That's to be expected, given darksteel is denser than dawnite," the Descending Guardian remarked as it continued to fly into the sky as the darksteel spheres chased after it. Zulcrestus glanced downwards and noticed Ruby, and the others, waving at him; Zulcrestus looked upwards before he, along with his darksteel shields, light-dashed after the Descending Guardian.
Ruby's ears and tails slumped slightly downwards as she let out a pessimistic sigh.
"Are you upset that the Descending Guardian is gone or that you can't see the fight now?" Zalroth asked as a shadow hand holding the mayjorka tree branch emerged from his shadow and snuck the mayjorka tree branch into Zalroth's lowest tail before fading back into the shadows. Ruby adamantly shook her head at Zalroth's question and wiped a tear from her eye.

"Nooo, it's just sensei didn't wave back when I waved at him," Ruby explained before her ears abruptly and sharply perked up.
"Hey and on another note are you going to explain why you're a dude again and what's with the cute snake and fox?" Ruby boldly asked as he confidently crossed her arms, with Sophia slowly nodding her head.
"Indeed, I too would like to know the answer you'll give to this question," Sophia added. Zalroth scratched the back of his head while chuckling.
"Don't you think it'd be better for me to answer once things calm down and everyone's back together?" Zalroth retorted. Ruby stopped herself from instantly answering but heavily contemplated her answer before slumping her head down so quickly that she slammed her head into the ground. Ruby let out a quiet grumble as she raised her head and sighed.
"I guess you're right, but I wanna know now," Ruby complained as she impatiently tapped her foot on the ground.
"I know how that feels," Zalina remarked tiredly as she lounged around on Zalroth's head. Ruby nodded her head at hearing Zalina's comment before slowly opening her eyes with a perplexed expression.
"Wait, did you just verbally talk!" Ruby shouted as Sophia disappointedly shake her head at Ruby's comment.
The Descending Guardian blasted through the clouds as the darksteel spheres chased after it. From within the Descending Guardian, Vivo watched the darksteel spheres chasing after him as the Descending Guardian seemed to be on autopilot.
"Now... what did Master Zalkutaro do to deal with Darksteel..." Vivo pondered to himself as he placed his hand on his chin. Something seemed to come to Vivo's mind as he grabbed some of the dawnite feathers from his Descending Guardian.
The Descending Guardian came to an abrupt stop before shifting its form around, until it was facing upright, and pointed its arm at the darksteel spheres; its arm shook before a barrage of green metallic/ice feathers bursted out from its arm and targeted the darksteel spheres.
The feathers struck all the darksteel spheres and encased them with the green metallic/ice-like crystal before the ice went opaque and shattered, destroying the darksteel spheres that greyed out and crumbled away.
"I'm impressed, crow; I was sure you would just fight fire with fire.... well metal with metal in this case," the voice of Zalroth, although it was more aggressive than the normal Zalroth, said from within Vivo's mind.

"There's no need to be so rude," the voice of the Phantom of Determination tiredly said.
Vivo angerly glared and was about to say something before being cut off when a giant beam of light mana enveloped the Descending Guardian. The beam managed to knock the Descending Guardian back a few centimetres but any of the dawnite feathers that had been damaged by the light beam were swiftly replaced.
The Descending Guardian glanced downwards as Zulcrestus emerged from the clouds. As Zulcrestus flew up to roughly the same height as the Descending Guardian, Yellow Hika(a Hika with yellow hair tips, eyes and dress) appeared on Zulcrestus' shoulder.
"Father, it appears the Phantom of Innovation has the ability to grow feathers that they change into any inorganic material including magic-type materials," Yellow Hika stated as she flew around Zulcrestus.
"Anything else to report?" Zulcrestus asked as he kept his sights on the Descending Guardian. Yellow Hika scratched her head as she thought to herself.
"Well... two things: first, mother wanted to let you know she's returned from her assignment, to escort Kara to the capital city of Lumios, and that the structure of the feathers of the Phantom's giant armour matches the ones from the feather heathians you thought earlier," Yellow Hika added as she put her hands behind her back.
"So it's as I suspected," Zulcrestus said to himself, before ordering Yellow Hika to go and regroup with the Hikas in the city. Yellow Hika nodded her head before teleporting away in a cluster of yellow cubes. Zulcrestus glanced down at the palms of his hands before clenching them into fists.
"I suppose I'll have to start mixing my qi and kai, instead of my qi with my magical energy; however the manual Callie gave me stated my armour isn't well suited to withstand chakra," Zulcrestus commented to himself. Zulcrestus sighed as his armour transformed into its casual mode and Zulcrestus wrapped his cloak around his waist.
Zulcrestus placed his fist together and the Descending Guardian got into a defensive stance as Vivo sensed Zulcrestus' mana levels begin to lower and his Chakra levels began to rise.
Zulcrestus' muscles began to tense up as pure white with a pink glow vein-like marks formed all over his body; After the marks wrapped around Zulcrestus' eyes, Zulcrestus opened his eyes and grabbed his darksteel trident.
"Well, that's unexpected," TPoD's voice snarkily commented.
"Nows not the time for your snarky comments, Zalmimi," Vivo mentally commented as he slapped the sides of his head, cutting his telepathic connection from Zalmimi and the other Phantom. The Descending Guardian suddenly sprung to life and transformed its right hand into metallic/ice green feathers before catching the darksteel trident as it was inches away from its face.
The Descending Guardian quickly encased the trident in the green metallic crystal and destroyed the trident. Zulcrestus created two more darksteel shields before light-dashing, with the shields keeping up with him, at the Descending Guardian.
Charlotte(who was surrounded by a silvery golden wavey-flame aura and glowing dark gold marks all over her body) sliced the bio-luminescent purple vines with one of her swords while Hika, Pink Hika and Yellow Hika sitting on her shoulders and head. Charlotte heard an aggravated groan and looked behind her to see the groaning originated from Luna(who also had a silvery golden wavey-flame aura) as she struggled to lift Charlotte's other sword.
"This is such a hassle; why do these vines have to be able to absorb all forms of energy, I mean how is it even able to absorb someone's qi it's literally just someone's soul!" Luna shouted. Alex(with a silvery golden wavey-flame aura) exhaustedly wiped her forehead as she rested her dawnite polearm's base on the ground.
"Tell me about it, but the only way we can safely deal with the vines is with our weapons since any form of magic will cause the vines to heal," Heather, silvery golden wavey-flame aura, mentioned as she slowly cut the vines with dawnite throwing disc.
"Miss Elizabeth!" Star called out as Lola(with Scarlett, Snow, Star, Kusana, Iris and Kiki on her tails) and Anthurium hurried over to the group. Star looked around for Elizabeth but couldn't find her.
"Sorry Star but I asked Elizabeth to go back to the camp to get Luna's bag," Charlotte explained as she continued to cut the vines into pieces. Star disappointedly sighed as she and the others, excluding Iris, climbed down from Lola's tails before offering to help in any way they could.
