《Law of God (Book 1)》Chapter Three

I received a phone call by one of the police officers downtown. The officer's name was Andrew Bailor.

Andrew Bailor is fifty years old, had lived in the same town of North Dakota for almost thirty years. Officer Bailor was married, no kids.

It was early in the morning, and still pitched black outside. After I answered the phone, the officer asked me if my name was Ryan Morgan? I replied back, saying I was.

"I am very sorry to bother you this late, but I received a complaint from a young man named Jacob, and I was wondering if you could come down to the station?"

"Ye-yes, my brother... my brother's name is Jacob, and..." Officer Bailor cut me off by asking me if I was the parent of Jacob.

"Yes, our parents passed away eight years ago."

"My condolences, but your brother, Jacob, he said that... you know what, please come down to the station, and I will explain what happened."

"Yeah, I am on my way right now."

"Alright," Officer Bailor said, before hanging up the phone.

I immediately ran out of my house, after grabbing all my stuff, car keys, wallet, and anything else that I needed, and I ran out of my house, and rushed to my SUV.

I began to worry.

After I had stopped at a stop light, I was tapping my finger on the steering wheel. I took a deep breath, sighed, and looked around for any traffic after the light had turned green.

I leaned my left elbow to the drivers door, as I started to think. I don't know why Jacob is at the police station.

Once I got out of my car after arriving at the police station, I closed my door, I realized that the police are strict here in North Dakota.

It seem like North Dakota had a strict law against murder. What if Jacob had murdered someone? I felt even more worried.

Officer Bailor saw me coming in the police station, and one of the detectives, of course, Detective Sailor was the one in charge of the case.

"Your brother is in the interrogation room three," Detective Sailor said to me.

"What did you do to him?" I asked, worried, walking up to the interrogation room.

"Okay, I have done nothing, I was just doing my job, as I always have been doing," Detective Sailor replied back to me.

After I had walked inside the interrogation room, Jacob saw me, and he was crying, "Jacob," I said, softly.

"Ryan!"

I rushed to Jacob and Jacob stood up from his seat, and Jacob and I hugged. I was heavy breathing. I was panicking, and feeling confused.

I sighed, sitting down. Jacob sat back down on his chair.

"Jake, what's going on?"

Jacob continued to cry, "I found Izza, she's dead," Jacob said, crying.

"Oh, Jacob," I said, hugging Jacob once again. "It is going to be okay," I said, rubbing Jacob's back.

Jacob and I we're headed home, and I was driving just thinking about how Jacob discovered his girlfriend being brutally murdered.

Jacob was looking out the window, and it was currently three in the morning.

I had walked into Jacob's bedroom with Jacob, and Jacob went straight into his bed. Jacob lied underneath the covers, and I pulled the blankets towards him.

"You try and get some sleep," I said, before walking out of Jacob's bedroom.

"Good night, Ryan," Jacob said, before falling asleep.

However, next morning arrived, and I left for work. Jacob was at school and I walked into my office.

I couldn't get my mind off what happened last night. Jacob discovered a dead body. A DEAD PERSON.

I couldn't even wrap my head around it.

Detective Sailor is coming over at my house this afternoon after Jacob is finished with school. Detective Sailor wanted to ask Jacob more questions.

I sat down in my chair.

Jacob was on his way to class, and other students noticed him. They were talking behind Jacob's back back, and Jacob just ignored what was going on.

As I was sitting in the middle of another trial, my client, Hannah Rifle was sitting next to me. Hannah Allison Rifle, sixteen years old, convicted of killing her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rifle.

Hannah is a very sweet girl, who had just been through a lot. Hannah is an alcoholic, a catholic, a daughter, a friend, and a sister.

Caleb Rifle, eighteen years old, two years older than his sister, Hannah.

Caleb attended his sister's trial, explaining everyone, the people of the court, the judge and even myself as Hannah's public defender, where he was the night before Mr. and Mrs. Rifles murder.

Hannah was silent the whole entire day of the trial. It was the last day of trial. It was the last day of trial before the jury makes a decision about whether Hannah will be sentenced to prison.

I was nervous for Hannah, and somehow I think Hannah is innocent.

Well?

But it didn't take long for Hannah to be found guilty. Hannah was found guilty in a first degree murder.

The unlawful killing of another human is defined by several different categories, degrees, and penalties for a conviction that require diverse defenses based on the facts of the case and evidence collected by both the prosecution and the defense.

It was heartbreaking.

It was heartbreaking to hear that Hannah is sentenced to die in prison, and will be waiting on death row.

It is something that will haunt me forever.

I remember Caleb walking out of the courtroom, and he didn't even have the nerve to tell Hannah goodbye. I didn't want Caleb to abandon his sister.

Mr. and Mrs. Rifle were the sweetest couple. They have always loved Hannah, and Caleb. I would be willing to see my parents. I don't have parents, they passed away when I was in college, and Jacob was only six. I would be happy to see my parents again. I miss them so much.

Jacob had come out of the classroom, and another student walked passed Jacob and called Jacob a

Jacob was never been bullied in his entire life. Jacob has David, who has always been supportive of Jacob.

David does not like it when people mess with Jacob. David sees it as a way of people wanting revenge. David is pretty tough, David knows how to handle bad people.

I felt guilty about lying to Hannah when I told Hannah I would do anything to help her with the case and I would also protect her.

It didn't seem like the jury was happy with Hannah.

I had ordered Chinese, I would order take out almost every other night.

I had to keep up with my budget.

I was eating my rice from the container with a pair of chopsticks.

It's not easy working as a public defender, and some of the clients I met were kind, generous, and sweet.

I have a good relationship with most of my clients. I treat them like they are family.

Hannah was definitely one of my closest friends.

After the last trial, I knew all along that Hannah was going to prison. It's not that I didn't believe in Hannah, I just thought, maybe Hannah knew what she did, and is feeling sorry for herself.

"How's your dinner?" I asked.

Jacob can't have some type of certain foods, so I just plan out a meal for him.

Jacob eats fruits and veggies and certain soy and gluten free food.

"I like it," Jacob answered back.

I chuckled, smiling.

Detective Sailor had left my house about an hour ago. It was before I ordered dinner. Jacob was scared, confused, and Detective Sailor had this grudge against me.

Jacob was missing Izza a lot, and it seemed like Jacob was being accused of something he didn't do. I don't see Jacob as a killer. I don't see Jacob as a serial killer.

But I know when I see a person who's guilty, I can see it. Also, a lie detection courses are valuable for face-to-face interactions, the lies that do the most financial damage in the 21st century happen over telecommunications.
