"Okay, say that one more time." Ted repeated.
"I said, there's no school here at all." Harold sighed as he shook his head. "I must've just been lying to myself," he added with more than a little resentment in his voice.
"No, not that part," Ted explained. "The part about the golden girl."
"Well, I don't remember saying it, but I'd have to say Rose. Sophia was a bit too racy for me." Harold shrugged.
"I...what? What are you even talking about?" Ted asked.
"Perhaps this Rose and Sophia are the names of the golden creatures he encountered?" Sid suggested.
"Golden creatures? The show was called the Golden Girls." Harold explained.
"Wait, what?" Ted asked. "We weren't talking about the Golden Girls, we were talking about the people you ran into."
"Well they were certainly no Golden Girls I'll have you know." Harold scoffed. "They were just plain rude and insulting...though the boy could certainly hold up a team by himself. Maybe if I..." Towards the end, Harold started to mumble and rub his chin as he looked away from Ted and Sid.
"Harold." Ted said as he tried to get him to focus. "Those are the people we want to know about, okay? Tell us about them."
Harold grumbled defensively, "I already told you everything."
"But that was so vague." Ted reminded him. "You just gave vague physical descriptions of the guy, and nothing on the girl."
"That was everything," Harold sighed. "They weren't exactly filling out background checks."
"Surely there must be something else you remember?" Sid suggested. "Perhaps their demeanor? Certain phrases they said? Anything at all?"
Harold groaned as he walked away from the two of them. He rocked back and forth on the heels of his feet. "I do remember one thing."

Ted leaned in closer. This was it. Whatever had Sid so freaked out would be revealed here. Maybe this would be what he needed to figure out a way out of this too.
"She agreed to let him on the football team!" Harold said with a smile.
Sid and Ted let out a frustrated groan before Harold added, "I just had to do one thing...what was that again? Oh yeah. She just had to dig...through...my...head." Harold slowed down as realization seemed to dawn on him of what he had actually gone through.

The Fate Eater
What might a man really do if he found himself reincarnated into a fantasy world as a dragon prince? How would he come to terms with his new nature, his larger-than-life family, the agendas of warring factions, and the destiny he never asked for? This is a story that intends to defy some isekai tropes, but play into others. It's mainly about exploring a rich hand-crafted world, full of its own history and mysteries. Its characters have their own lives and aspirations, and our protagonist is but a piece of the greater tapestry. This story is not about right and wrong, or good and evil. It's about a dragon-man being tested by fate, power, and time. It's about what it's like to live as an outsider who lost their home. But perhaps the most central theme is freedom. What does freedom really mean? What will it cost and how much might one be willing to pay for it? Does it even truly exist? Let's find out together.
