《Dungeon of books》Poor Forest - Chapter 47

Pov - Umbra
With one last effort of will from Fus, I watch as he swings his sword up to meet the pillar of light, I personally don’t think he will be able to walk out of here without some injuries. The breath of Fus may be one of the most devastating things within my dungeon, but it weakens him severely afterward, I don’t know if it will get better with more use, but for now, it is debilitating for him. So yeah just as expected I watch as Fus is hit with a massive pillar of light if he were to die from this though, I would be disappointed in him. The real problem from all this mayhem here is the devastation they have caused. Like, why, After the Paladin saw that his light beam things were ineffective, why did he continue to shoot them? My poor forest! Why the hell did that monster do such a terrible thing, then as if to top what he did he brings out this scroll, and while saying some bullshit line to act cool, he activates the thing destroying my mutilated forest even more. How am I going to fix this? Wait, no that's not the question I should be asking, it was kinda stupid now that I think of it. Wait where was I, Oh yeah. The real question is how am I going to make it look realistic like it's part of the narrative that I have weaved? I can’t just act like it is a fixed point in time, that will just get me stuck into a narrative corner. What if in the future I have some of my creatures talk to the adventurers, I can’t just make them forget every day, how would I make the adventurers get attached to them if the creatures can’t remember them?
Un zoning out I lay my eyes upon Fus who is in a bad condition if you ask me. I have kind of been ignoring him, and now I’m feeling bad, look at what you have done Fus. Wait no, it was caused by me just zoning out and never even acknowledging him, only focusing on the poor forest. Damn it, now I’m feeling worse! I’ll at least check up on his condition… which is surprisingly good. His dragon scales must be more powerful than I would have given them credit for, they do have dragon in the name, though, so maybe I shouldn't be that surprised. It really only looked bad from an outside point of view, sure his scales are entirely burnt, vaporized, and or are currently melting, wait dragon scale can melt no that's not the point, his organs, muscle, and bones look fine. I guess his Hp hasn't really fallen that much… I forgot about the Hp, I could have just checked that instead of looking at his organs and such. Sure, I have been in this world for about… Let's say… A while, but I have been on earth for quite a bit longer. So let's see Fus is Hp is [4311/5165] which is good I think, he is not even 50% dead so yeah that's good. Oh, and Fus leveled up, that's quite nice. Even if no one died in that battle they still gain levels, so sparring can level up more than just skills so good on Fus for probably figuring it out, or maybe he could just be a harsh trainer, who knows?

So now, to make a seemingly reasonable tale for how the forest fixed itself in a fantasy world, should not be that difficult. Come on, guys, let's hear those cheers. Mentally facepalming, I ask myself what am I even doing. Sighing, I say while looking up at the bubble surrounding this Demi-plain, what am I even going to do first? Looking back down, I try to get a picture of what must be fixed. There is a metric shit ton of light affinity floating around and just overall brightening up, well, everything. The forest is damaged, but not as heavily as originally expected. There is a 20ish meter crater in the ground, that really doesn’t go that deep. So well, it's not as bad as expected. I kinda just got into the idea the fight was going to be superheroes with them practically destroying everything, but no it is far more contained than that.
Cracking my imaginary knuckles, I get to work on the first thing first, the light affinity. Sure it has scattered, but it is hard to miss all of this light affinity, like seriously who packed that much light affinity into a scroll? If I wasn’t actively supplying Fus with more Mana during his stone breath he would have been killed, alright maybe not killed, but he would have at least needed a healer. Alright back to focus Umbra, you have to work sometimes too. So all this light affinity, what to do? Looking around for a bit, my sight lands on a dandelion sticking out near the edge of the scroll’s crater, thinking to myself that it will be fine. I shove the massive amount of light affinity into the dandelion and move on to my next, more important task of somehow fixing the forest non-directly.
Wait, don't I have aaahhh, nature garden was it? No, it was Nature Guardian. I bet he can do something, he is the guardian of nature, right? Moving my consciousness over to the big lake, which was surprisingly untouched by any of the conflicts between Fus and that Paladin, despite it being in the center of the forest. I do remember though that the lotuses are actually the Nature Guardian once it gets back into view, so I begin to prod at them till I get a reaction. Which happens to be a swift transformation of all the lotuses wrapping up with each other and all their underlying vines forming a humanoid figure. It looks kinda the same, well it vines and flowers are in different locations, but you can’t expect them to be in the same places every time if he gets wrapped up like that, but all of that is beside the point. The point is to get my forest fixed up before any more adventurers come in and lock me into something far worse….inaction. Wait, where is my dun dun duuuun? I should stop playing around now, so lightly asking the Nature Guardian whether he can heal the broken forest I get a negative back, which is quite disheartening, I wonder what that nature magic even does then. He is kinda useless now that I think about it. What has he really done to help me?

Contemplating throwing magic at it, I begin to slump down in defeat and just fix it with some guidance from the plane. I am surprised though when an idea comes from the golem, I mean the Nature Guardian. I kinda have been thinking of it to be like a robot that can only follow orders since he is a golem foremost, not the most obvious thing that shoats out I can think of, but this is a fantasy world, so I should just throw away all my conjectures from my previous world. Oh, yeah, uh, the ideas that it sent over were quite good if I do say so myself, and I would have to let you know that I'm still pretty new to this, so what do I know. It talks about several creatures that could fit the build with a little tweaking and of course a dryad, but I was also surprised with an example of a unique creation called Leshy, he was apparently created by some forest god, and some other deity. Wait, I should not be focusing on that, because I have already decided what to make… I waited for the drum roll, am I dumb? Why am I getting distracted so easily? Wait no back on topic, I’m going to create a creature called an Eladrin, of course with a few tweaks cause their not natural incline to help the forest no matter what their appearance tells you. Wait no an eladrin is some sort of archetype name, their more exact name is a Fey Eladrin, which is not much of a difference if you ask me. It might be a problem for me to create though since they are S- rank creatures, and they are technically not monsters. If you are not up to date though, the strongest creature I have made is Fus, and that was with the help of the plane, but that is it unless you count the thing the abyss butted in on, and I sure don’t. I’m not even going to contemplate what horrible things would happen if I were to rely on the abyss for this, I can even tell that it would be bad. The abyss just screams Lovecraftian horrors and things beyond my understanding, floating around in every which direction. Who am I talking to?

8 495Shades of the Moon
I'm rewriting this story! I have taken down Arc 2 and Arc 3 already to avoid spoiling my new novel. The only reason I'm keeping the first 10 chapters is nostalgia; the writing is awkward and the story is not plotted out properly, but it's here if anyone wants to compare it to the new one. If you'd like to read a more professionally written version of this story, I highly suggest checking out my Synergy. Synopsis version too-many-to-count: “I see,” Kiona said. “But . . . you’re changing once again, aren’t you?” The entity considered her question, lifting a clawed hand towards the night sky. They observed the back of their hand idly, watching the glowing orange veins pulse alongside their pitch-black exoskeleton. The wind picked up right then, and Kiona shivered—just as much from the cold as from the savage grin on the creature's face. “That’s right,” the entity said, clenching their hand slowly into a fist. They let out a quiet laugh, staring defiantly at the Moon as it rose from behind the clouds. “We are shades, yet not exactly. Not like the others. Here, in this world, we've become something more. We are the Shades of the Moon.” There was a heartbeat of silence, during which Kiona joined the entity in their skygazing. The light-green Moon loomed over the city, shining like the entity's eyes. It promised otherworldly knowledge and terrible secrets. It promised progress. It promised change. In that moment, Kiona couldn't have imagined anything more beautiful. “Shades of the Moon, huh?” she said, smiling a bit. It had a nice ring to it.
