'Oh! Only if eyes could actually be read, you'll notice, how much they hide, all the pain. Those unshed tears, they express the desires, desires to be happy, but oh...only if you could read those eyes.'

He was sad, really sad. He wanted to leave everything and run away, be what he truly is, but he knew he couldn't. Moreover, he wasn't allowed to do so. Today was the day, an important one, for it would decide his fate. He didn't believe in such things, but then he realized over time.

He remembered his mother's words,

"The world was a harsh reality. To live in, was to face the monsters as humans in disguise. One couldn't help but become a monster themselves, again if it was not because the person was too kind or too angelic. The good ones suffered and the already suffering ones became bad. You had to, you had no choice. You have a small problem, a small disease or a small issue, and people would look at you as if you were abnormal, you will face harsh words, feelings, betrayal and heartbreaks. And you'll have two choices in the end, either become one of those 'monsters' or keep getting hurt until a monster itself comes to protect you. But remember...all those bad people will have thier own sufferings too. Everyone suffers, and that's the ultimate truth."

They say you can strive, and you can win, but, what if the whole damn crowd pulls you down with them, cause they are blinded by everything apart from love and its subordinates?

Accept it, I did too and he does too.

He stood there in front of the building of the office where he'd have an interview for a normal wage, 9 to 5 worker. The company was big enough, with glass panels shining in the broad day sunlight, and it was one of the leading ones. It was on the first spot in the business world, with a few others, and seriously, the boy had been so flabbergasted when he heard that he had been accepted into it. Accepted for interview. He wanted money, money to be free.

Never mind, he'd think about that later.

Right now, dressed in his best ever clothes which comprised of an unironed white shirt and slightly tight grey chinos pants, he began to walk nearer to the entrance of the company, bowing to the guards on the way, face adorned with a black mask, and feets carrying not so good conditioned oxfords, again which didn't belong to him, but someone else. His raven hair, they weren't shampooed but washed. He had tried his best to make his appearance look presentable, cause getting a job, was really important. As I said, it would decide what turns his future will take.

"E-excuse me, miss?", he asked, trying his best to speak fluently, yet failing miserably.

"Yes sir. How may I help you?" -The receptionist replied, dressed in blue formals, with perfect features, and a welcoming smile on her lips. He was embarrassed, would be an understatement. His stuttering only added to his suffering more.

What would they think? Will they hear him or simply make a joke out of him? Will they recognize his potential? Will they simply turn him over, back to where he belongs, just because of the way he looks or because of the way he speaks? - He was brought back to the present and saw the receptionist looking at him with a look of patience and at the same time slight doubt.

"U-uh, I have an appointment, regarding a j-job interview settled a-at 10 AM." -Trying his best, yet failing once again. He bit his tongue in the process of trying not to speak something which ends up making him humiliate himself more.

"Oh sure sir, but can you tell me your name first, so that I can check once?"- Her expression did show slight disregard for she was looking at the computer screen in front of her.

'J-jungkook. Jeon Jungkook.', he breathed out.

"Sure sir, please wait a minute." - This was her reply, but only if he knew, she was doing something else for the time being and it'd take long enough for her to 'check'.

Jungkook nodded, fidgeting with his fingers, trying his best not to look nervous, not to look innocent, not to look scared, because honestly, he was both and people won't like it. He could feel people looking toward him. Was he being too obvious? No, probably not. He shrugged off all the negative thoughts. He looked at the lady, in front of him, who was right now talking on the phone, looking at the computer at the same time. She looked a bit older than him since he himself was 23. She was smiling while talking, oh boy, how freely she smiled!

After about 10 minutes of biting his tongue and his wobbling lips beneath the mask, the girl looked up and spoke,

"Yes sir, your name's here. You can proceed up to the 5th level, to the corridor on the right, and there you'd see the cabin of the CEO's assistant. He'll be taking your interview for today since Mr. Kim is quite busy right now."

Jungkook again nodded and tried his best to pass a smile, almost facepalming at the realization that he was wearing a damn mask. He began to walk up to the elevator. Pressing on the button, he heard a ting, and the doors opened and he got on. The thought of being alone in a huge elevator scared him, again. What if he got stuck? What if he died? 'No! Shut up, Jungkook!' He told himself, as the doors opened once again, this time at his destination, the 5th level.

Taking a step ahead, he walked out, looking at the right corridor which was a bit brighter than all the others. He tilted his head, but then looked straight ahead, looking at the door, that showed the way to the restrooms. Okay, he needed to take a leak too.

Once done with his business, Jungkook walked out of the white cubicle, towards the mirror in the restroom, and looked at his face, removing the mask and taking out his small water bottle from the bag and a strip of tablets from his pockets. Just one more for today, and that's it. He took out one small tablet, and made a disgusting face at the muddy color of it, but then closing his eyes, he swallowed it. He had to hold the sink for a few minutes as he could feel his head spinning a bit, but then it sort of cleared and he looked up at his face again, putting on the mask, and with a last glance, he walked out, settling his crippled white shirt, to straighten it, if that was even possible.

He reached the cabin, which showed 'ASSISTANT' in big black bold letters, and knocked on the faded brown door. A 'come in' reverberated in his eardrums and he walked inside, keeping his head lowered.

"Hello, Mr. Jeon, I see we have an appointment for the interview today. It's good to see you on time. Let me introduce myself, I'm Jung Hoseok, call me Mr. Jung."

Jungkook looked up at the smiling face of the man in front of him, and his heart sank.

'No. This can't be. No! Please, god, last time, please let this be a coincidence.'

The man had a big sunshine smile, almost blinding the boy, and honey-toned skin, with formal attire and black hair, brushed back. Jungkook came out of his thoughts when he heard the man speak.

JUNG- Mr. Jeon, are you alright? You look quite pale.

"N-no. I'm alright. T-thank you. Can we s-start with the interview, p-please?"

JUNG- Ah, sure sure. And let me inform you, the CEO will be joining us within a few minutes, since the meeting with which he was busy, that has gotten over. And I got to know it just a few seconds ago.

Jungkook simply nodded, trying his best to relax, for nervousness made him stutter more.

JUNG- Okay, so can you please give your full introduction?

With a timorous tone,

"I'm J-jeon Jungkook, 23 y-years old. I have m-mastered the basics of computers and maths, and I'm h-here to apply for a j-job."

The other male right now was squinting his eyebrows, feeling that he had heard the name before, but he shook off the thought.

Just before he was about to ask another question, the door behind Jungkook opened and the boy could feel a gaze on his back, and footsteps until a person went and stood right in front of him.

JUNG- Good Morning Mr. Kim, this is Mr. Jeon, the applicant for the job vacancy. Mr. Jeon, this is the CEO, Mr. Kim.

Jungkook looked up, and this time he could feel his heart sink to the bottom of his stomach, he could feel his hands begin to shake, and his head began to hurt. However, he controlled, he tried his best, and he controlled himself. Wiping his hands on the side of his pants pocket, he forwarded his hands to the other male, who already was waiting for a professional handshake, the blonde male's piercing gaze fixed right on Jungkook's face.

"I'm Kim Taehyung, nice to meet you Mr?"- spoke the blonde male, with a stone-cold expression, eyebrows up in regard for the nervous boy, wearing a tailored blood-red coat, over matching pants, and polished classic oxfords.

Jungkook knew the latter was waiting for his introduction, for the gaze never left his face, those almond eyes, which made him feel submissive, and those sharp features with the deep voice, which made him go weak on his knees. He, however, took a small inhale of breath and spoke out, as his hands turned into fists along his sides.

"G-good Morning, Mr Kim. I'm J-jungkook, Jeon Jungkook."

KIM- If I may ask, why are you wearing that mask, Mr. Jeon.

"I h-have slight f-flu symptoms, that's why."

KIM- No need for it, can you please remove the mask.

Jungkook knew he was fucked up, he knew this was the end, he could see both the males in front of him looking at him with a knowing gaze. Jung Hoseok looked toward Kim Taehyung, who looked back at him, and it felt like they communicated through their eyes. Hoseok moved forward, and his hand was about to reach Jungkook's cheek, when to their surprise, the latter without looking up at them, took a few steps back and then picking up his small bag, he looked at them for the last time, before dashing out.

It took a whole minute for the two males to realize what had happened and when they did, both of them looked at each other before rushing out too.

Jungkook was running fast, wiping the few tears that escaped from his eyes. He hadn't thought this could happen, but he feared it all at the same time.

He didn't wait for the elevator, and ran down the stairs, stumbling into two or three people on the way, who simply shouted back at him. He reached the gate, when he saw the elevator door open and the CEO and assistant pair looking at him directly in the eyes.

Before they could do anything, Jungkook ran, again, as fast as he could, out on the sidewalk, he could feel tears brimming his eyes, but he didn't let them fall, he could feel his head spinning, but all he cared was about the fact that he could not get caught. A bus was waiting at the bus stop which was a few more steps away from him. He looked back to see guards, as well as Kim Taehyung running towards him, whose coat button's were now open, and whose expression wasn't stone cold anymore.

He ran, again, for the third time after stumbling, and this time jumped onto the bus, as the doors closed, and the bus began. He looked back from the mirror, rubbing his doe eyes in the process, just to see the same stare. He turned his face, and sat down, panting, huffing, and rubbing his eyes in order to remove all those tears that had accumulated but weren't falling either.

Taehyung came back inside the office, breathing sharply, the blazer in his arm, and the cuffs of his black shirt tied around his elbows. The last of the teary eyes of the boy still in his mind. He walked up, ignoring the stares his workers and employees were providing. Reaching his office, he opened the door with a bang, threw the blazer on the ground harshly and went and sat on the chair, looking straight at the faces of three people who were looking back at him with questionable eyes.

TAEHYUNG- I l-lost him, again. - His voice, was no longer deep, but soft and broken.

Jungkook entered the gate, more like he was pushed inside. He walked up to the person who was sitting on the chair, face engulfed in darkness, yet Jungkook could feel his death stare, those eyes which were glinting in the darkness, and scaring the poor boy out of his own wits.

"Did you get the job?" - This was a simple question otherwise, but not for Jungkook.

'T-they will c-call a-and t-tell.' - He was lying, yes he was. But the person in front didn't know, or did he?

"Are you sure?"

'Y-yes.'

"Then why do you look so messy?"

'I-i met f-few dogs o-on the way and t-they chased m-me.'

The man in front of him laughed loudly, but it was a psychotic one. His face now emerged from the darkness, but it was adorned with a golden face mask, the shape of a vulture. He was wearing black trousers, and his belly protruded out from the black shirt's buttons, but never mind. Only his black eyes and the second chin was visible, oh, and the smell of his greasy hair parted in the middle too.

"Oh, poor boy! Now listen, you've just got 4 weeks, the money or it will be you. Alright?"

"Y-yes."- Jungkook said, trying his best not to focus on the last words.

"Don't try to run away, because you know it won't help at all."

"O-okay."

"You can go, my boy."

He turned and began to walk back, out of the creepy room, out of the whole damn thing which wasn't like normal houses at least but more like an unvisited warehouse, that stood on a barren piece of land, surrounded by dump areas, making it smelly, and dried trees, giving it wild look.

Jungkook was grateful, though he lied about the call and everything, he was allowed to stay out of the place, otherwise, he knew he'd be locked in. He was grateful for his lie wasn't caught.

It took him half an hour to reach his house, not a house but like a cramped structure, again he hadn't seen any living creature here, except ofcourse those mice, or insects. No human. The so-called 'house', which was really small, was perfect for him for he couldn't imagine more. It was quite messed up from the outside and from the inside as well. A small kitchen, a bedroom with a joint bathroom, and a living room. That's it. But they weren't what you could say, made for a living. No. More or less, those areas where the criminal hid, after escaping from the cops, with shabby walls, and there was everything but cleanliness. It was given to him for he had proved as a nice boy for the boss, and when the boss was happy, he could stay here. But he knew, they were keeping him at seen, there were cameras around the house, not inside though.

He walked up, losing the first few buttons of his shirt, taking it out, showering or more like trying to drown himself in the cold water, and changing into comfortable clothes which were nothing but a simple pajama, no shirt. It was neither ironed nor really clean. But okay.

He laid on the bed, on an empty stomach, feeling nothing but just a headache, and began to cry. His sobs echoed around the room and in the small house, as he choked and coughed on his own tears. Holding up a messed-up pillow close to himself, he wished, for one thing, to be free.

But right now, only if it were possible, he'd have like warmth, the warmth of someone who loved him, alas!

It was late midnight when he fell asleep, thinking of searching for a job the next day.
