"You are one crazy b*stard!" Xu Meili shouted, keeping Lin Ning close to her with Chun Yunchen. Mei Mei started to bark more aggressively and growled towards the men coming closer to them.

"Get ready to hold your breath and run." Chun Yunchen whispered to them from behind, pulling something out that he had been working on just earlier. 'This is one of the first ones I made in a hurry so it won't last long.' Everyone there understood the signal, getting ready to run when something came up.

"You still have a chance to stop this violence." The second prince said to them.

"Trying to steal another man's woman is just unforgivable!" Chun Yunchen shouted, hitting something onto the ground that had the whole place surrounded by powder and the strong scent of pepper. "Come on!" Chun Yunchen had taken hold of both women's hands while running with Mei Mei following after then in the surrounded mess.

"Don't let them escape!" The second prince shouted. "Bring me the woman with the blindfold!"

Cao Peizhi and Yi Changpu were surrounded by men who came at them. There was clashing of swords that could be heard in the dead of night. "There are too many of them. You should leave first." Cao Peizhi told Yi Changpu to leave without him.

"I'm not running away from this. Xu Meili and Lin Ning would not be happy that I ran off like a coward, but you are also my dearest friend." They both assisted each other, slaughtering each man who came to take their lives. Yi Changpu and Cao Peizhi have then been separated by a distance. Yi Changpu had turned his attention to see one of the men on the rooftop as he dealt with his last enemy. "Peizhi!!!" Throwing his sword at the man on the roof killed the man, but the arrow had hit Peizhi.

"Master!!!"

Appearing were Cao Peizhi's men; they had rushed over to handle the rest of the assassins while Yi Changpu ran to Cao Peizhi. "Hey?! Hey?! Don't die on me now!!!" Holding Cao Peizhi in his arms, the arrow had hit him in the chest again. "Call a physician now!!!"

They had been running for who knows how long; Lin Ning was exhausted, but it was clear that they did not lose the men that chased them. Hearing the sound of a weapon fly, it had hit Xu Meili on the back of the shoulder. "Ah!" Falling, she clutched onto her wound with a small dagger embedded into her flesh.

Lin Ning could see everyone there with her were being dragged down because of her. "He is after me. You all have to leave me behind." Making the decision that they had to leave and report back to Yi Changpu.

"We're not leaving you!" Chun Yunchen refused to leave a single person behind. "Bite this." He had ripped a piece of his clothes, making Xu Meili bite onto it to avoid biting her tongue. He had pulled out the dagger and applied pressure onto it.

"You all have to go. He won't stop until he has me." Lin Ning knew that the Second Prince was crazy, but she didn't think he would be this crazy.

"Argh!" Mei Mei remained by Lin Ning's side, refusing to let her stay alone.

"How do you know that he won't kill you?!" Chun Yunchen didn't know what Lin Ning was thinking.

"He won't because he is obsessed with me. An obsessed man will never kill something that he likes. All of you leave now! They are coming!" Lin Ning had gotten up running, catching the attention of the men with Mei Mei running with Lin Ning.

"Ning! Ning!" Chun Yunchen shouted, but he could not leave Xu Meili alone, heavily injured and needing immediate attention. He was still just in a boy's body, but he wrapped her arm around his shoulder and started to head towards the direction of their camp at the border. 'I have to find Peizhi!' He was a weak human being at this moment with the only knowledge of medicine and machinery. Trying his best to get them out of there, he came across the men chasing after them.

"There you are. The one who threw the powder with pepper. We are going to have fun teaching you a lesson."

Chun Yunchen had set down Xu Meili, seeing that those men were after him. "You can do what you want to me! Leave her out of it!" He told them.

"Hmph, we'll see how long you can last till your last breath."

Chun Yunchen felt their punches hitting him at every spot of his body with their feet taking part in it. Spitting blood out to the side, he had to stay awake to keep their attention on him other than Xu Meili. 'I have to stay awake.' His eyes were starting to close when he heard the sound of the men screaming in pain.

"AAACCKK!!!"

"WHO AR-AARRGGHH!!!"

'So tired and painful.' He fell unconscious from all the pain that hit him at once.

Lin Ning had then bumped into someone, falling with Mei Mei barking and growling at him. "You love running away from me whenever you get the chance. I won't let you out of my sight again. You standing with that man at the bridge was just the last that I could tolerate." The second prince had seen Lin Ning with a man at the bridge when they had released the lantern, but he did not know who they were since Cao Peizhi wore a disguise.

"You are crazy!" Lin Ning gritted her teeth, feeling Mei Mei next to her as she backed up.

"Gggrr!!!!" Mei Mei had charged at him, biting onto his forearm while using her only limb with claws to dig her claws in, but he had clutched the wolf by the neck.

Lin Ning felt fear that overcame her once she knew that Mei Mei had charged forth without hesitating. "Mei Mei!!!" Lin Ning shouted, hearing the sound of a blade that stabbed into flesh. Opening her eyes behind the blindfold, she could only see red and black that surrounded her with the sign of bloodshed and death. "Mei Mei..." Lin Ning felt her body grow weak and freeze at the same time. Hearing a thud, Lin Ning rushed over to Mei Mei, who had been dropped down. "Mei Mei?! Mei Mei?!" Lin Ning felt the face of her wolf companion, feeling tears that trailed down from her face. The wolf's blood stained her hands that held her friend in her arms.

Mei Mei had let out a weak and short whine, 'My time with you was short, but it was the best I've lived.'

Lin Ning could never understand what Mei Mei said, knowing that she was a wolf, but she could sense death shadowing over her companion. "You'll be okay. You'll be alright." Lin Ning wanted things to get better, but it all became a nightmare due to her existence.

"That wolf will die here." The second prince did not want Lin Ning to get any hopes up that she would return there.

"You monster!!!!" Lin Ning shouted at the man who had hurt more than just her. The second prince had hit the back of her neck, knocking her unconscious.

"Call me a monster all you want, but I won't let you ever leave my side." The second prince had carried Lin Ning into his arms, letting his men come back and leave the dying wolf alone in the cold night.

'M-Master...' The wolf watched her master get taken away with her vision turning blurry and her body getting weaker. 'Please... l-let... me... stay by... her side... l-longer.' Everything went dark, with her last breath being a deep one as her eyes slowly shut.

Cao Peizhi could only recall being shot in the chest once again during combat. He had opened his eyes to see Lin Ning standing alone with her back facing him. "Ning?" He went closer to her, but a dagger was in her hands.

"Everything is my fault. If only I never existed." Lin Ning held the dagger up, making it come straight at her to kill herself.

"Ning!?" Cao Peizhi had woken up, sitting up in bed while seeing that he was in his tent.

"Peizhi?!" Yi Changpu ran into the tent once he heard Cao Peizhi awake and calling out to Lin Ning. "Thank goodness your alive!"

"Where is Ning?!" Cao Peizhi had gotten up too soon, clutching his chest that had yet another wound.

"You can't go out. You've been labeled dead from this day on." Yi Changpu had to tell Cao Peizhi straight out before people found that he was still alive.

"Where is Ning?!" Cao Peizhi asked again.
