Father Qu picked up a thick and sturdy ruler and instructed the security guards to hold Qu Xiao down, “I’m gonna remind you who should be respected in this household. How dare you ruin my birthday party?” He walked to Qu Xiao’s side with a ruthless expression and said through gritted teeth.
Qu Qi crossed her arms to watch. Such a scene was not unfamiliar to her.
Before Qu Xiao married Shang Yan, Mr. Qu would beat and scold her for even the slightest mistake.

Shang Yan raised his wristwatch. He had to go home late today due to a few overseas meetings. He wondered how Qu Xiao was doing.
Li took a deep breath and turned around from the front passenger seat to say to Shang Yan, “Boss, Madam... She...”
Shang Yan narrowed his eyes, and his tone was a little hurried and impatient as he frowned. “Hurry up and say it!”
Assistant Li handed his phone over. The picture on the screen was of Qu Xiao and Qu Qi’s “cake fight.” He explained the situation hesitantly, “Tonight was Mr. Qu’s birthday party. Madam went to celebrate his birthday and had a conflict with Qu Qi. I think she even hit her.”

The lights in the Qu family villa were bright. Mr. Qu realized that Qu Xiao had no intention of agreeing and could not hold back his anger anymore. He raised the ruler high and was about to strike Qu Xiao. At this moment, a low shout came from the door, “Stop!”
Qu Xiao’s tightly shut eyes suddenly opened. She saw Shang Yan coming out from the darkness in a wheelchair and her eyes could not help but be filled with tears.
She fell to the ground with all her strength and cried out in an aggrieved and frightened voice, “Hubby, what took you so long?”
Shang Yan’s heart trembled at her shout and he ordered the bodyguards and Li to restraint Mr. Qu and Qu Qi.
“Sorry I’m late.”
Shang Yan helped her up. When he saw the bruise on Qu Xiao’s wrist, his eyes shot out two cold beams as he stared at Mr. Qu. “I think I deserve some sort of explanation?”
