《One Versus Destiny》1 Article Format-Book 1

I woke up to the sound of a chicken clucking. Wait, that can’t be right. I went to bed with no chicken in the apartment. Once my eyes adjusted, I saw I was naked in a hedge maze. Wait, I thought. I went to bed in my apartment, with my own math PJs on. I realized that the ground I was sleeping on was grass. I felt some sort of unrecognizable distortment. A porcupine barreled at me, running into me, creating some cuts on my leg. I punched it and it died. I thought I was in the hospital and taking medications that gave me hallucinations. If this is actually a world, I don't know what to do. If there are monsters more powerful than this, what the heck? I don't know, I could go insane thinking of the possibilities. A message popped up in front of me:

You have defeated (normal barreling porcupine)

Would you like to collect the drops from (normal barreling porcupine)?

“Ummmm… yes,” I said, and another message came up:

You have collected the drops from (normal barreling porcupine)

You have received (one hundred normal coins)

You have received (healing cream)

You have received (normal magical core)

Another message came up:

Outsider abilities:

Map

Interface

Party and Chat

Inventory and Levitation

Looting

Quest And Translation

Would you like to quest (Explore the hedge maze)

Reward: Simple clothes

“Ummmm… yes,” I said

Another system message came up, even though everything was blocky:

Would you like to use (healing cream)

Reward: all your cuts will be healed

“Yes,” I said. While I was exited about getting magic powers, it also scared me.

"Am I meant to understand any of this?" I pinched myself to make sure it wasn't a dream. It hurt. "Get out of this, Arjun," I muttered. "You are only ten. Don't act like a young adult."

Another porcupine jumped out and landed on my head. I punched it, but it just laid down, spiking my head. I threw it off with some difficulty and ran into the hedge. When it approached, I whacked it with a stick of grass, then ran for a kilometer or so. After that, it stopped pursuing me.

I was able to tell what the topography was from my vantage point. I was in the foothills of a forest mountain range, in a valley between two mountains. Past the range was a desert, with a large city in the middle. From the sounds, past the mountain range was a beach and the ocean. That was odd. I usually couldn't hear through a door, and now I could hear this? There was also a large river at the summit. The mountains were roughly five thousand meters, with snow above four thousand meters. There was still a forest, but it was filled with evergreen trees and trees with purple leaves past that point.

"Wait, snow in the middle of summer? I guess since I'm in 'Madagascar,' it would be winter, but there isn't snow in Africa. This is odd. Trees don't have purple leaves."

I saw a hamster at a high level of "Magic." I ran while throwing grass at it. When it barreled, I jumped out of the way and hid in the hedge, where no one found me for ten minutes.

I spent the rest of the hour exploring the hedge maze, killing normal barreling porcupines when they barreled at me. I was hard to not feel guilty about killing these animals. I was vegetarian because I wasn't going to be allowed to have death on my hands. One time, I tried making a grass shield, but it barreled right through it. I finally had to accept that they were bloodthirsty monsters that needed to be put down.

I felt something hard hit me on the back of my head. When I woke up, I realized I had been knocked on the head with a shovel, and I got knocked out. I was in a weird room with a man. He muttered to himself “Well, well, well, so the king summoning didn’t work out. I suppose I’ll have to eat him.” I wasn’t about to get eaten without a fight, so I punched him. It didn’t kill him. He pulled out a knife, which I promptly tried to tug from him. It didn’t work, as he was way stronger than me. He attacked, and with one graze, he broke my bone, and I yelled out in pain. I realized I was in a basement when I heard a voice from above. They said “Run,” so I ran to them, sprinting away from the lunatic. I wondered what my parents were going to say. There were three people in cages with thin, black collars around their necks. One punched him, and he was so weak, he was knocked back about thirty meters. I punched him and finished him off. There was a system message:

You have defeated (Death Cultist)

Would you like to collect drops from (Death Cultist)?

“Yes”

You have collected drops from (Death Cultist)

You have received (Atrion Armor) (Iron Category)

You have received 156776 (normal coins)

You have received 2387 (Iron coins)

You have received 322 (Silver coins)

You have received 18 (Gold coins)

You have received (Sword of the Atrion)

You have received (Death Cultier)

You have received (Iron Healing Potion)

You have received (Core Of Death)

You have received (soul stone of blood)

The Death Cultier and Core of Death exploded, and I needed to use the Iron Healing Potion. I was hit by another shovel.

When I woke up, I was in a cage. Those people from before told me to eat a silver coin, and so I did. I felt an immense power within me, and I was able to break all the cages and collars, and after five seconds, the power subsided, making me weaker than before. There was a weird looking monster. A volcano erupted under its feet after one said, in a cold, hard, granite voice, “Volcano of death, arise,” and another picked me up. One had orange skin, a tail like an ankylosaurus, hands on his back, plenty of wrinkles, legs under his stomach, and plenty of things dangling. He also had a mouth full of canines, and he had eye beams and wings, and a hump on his head. He was huge, and all three of them looked about as fit as a superathlete. I was wondering what was going on.

I pulled up my map, and I saw somehow, It looked a bit like Earth, but Sri Lanka was bigger. India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Burma, Nepal, and Bhutan had drifted south to touch Sri Lanka, and Andaman and Nicobar islands had enlarged by maybe ten times. Madagaskar had merged with Africa, which was where we were, and the Americas had connected, closing the Panama canal, and had drifted maybe two hundred kilometers west. I realized the hedge maze was just trimmed to look like minecraft and it really wasn’t minecraft, so I asked them the name of the planet. They said Glassfay. They started running at about a hundred kilometers per hour in the desert. I asked where we were going, and they said Magispestone.

I asked what a soul stone of blood was, and they said that someone’s soul possessed almost unlimited power, and you need soul stones to tap into the power. You have to absorb them to get the power, so I absorbed the soul stone, and it said:

Waeswars

Effect: (Copper)

Summons a copper category waeswar that will fight for you and be your pet, and he can go into you.

“Wow,” I said. “What’s a Waeswar,” I asked. The one with the orange skin said the monster that had a volcano under its feet was a waeswar. It looked like a swarm of wasps.

“Sorry,” one said. "We never had time for introductions." The one with orange skin said, “I’m Doom Defeat Doom the First. My family is very peculiar with names, and forces everyone to follow a naming pattern if they’re in the family.” “Of course,” another said. “You're from a royal family, so for some reason, all are.” The other said, “I’m Joe.” The last one said, “I’m Fesoul. It may sound strange, but my family had been saving up for generations to get a set of soul stones, so my parents were excited once it had been determined I would be able to get soul stones. I told them my name is Arjun. Joe told me he had got his soul stones by winning a smithing contest. After a couple more hours running through the desert, we stopped, and they ate some bronze coins. “Are you mad,” I asked. They told me you could eat coins of your category starting at iron category.

After about thirty minutes, we arrived in Magicspestone. There were some monsters running about. Then, Doom started glowing silver after he killed all the monsters. People started running away, and they were right to do so, as gunk started spilling out from his pores. He poured some liquid on himself, and it cleaned on it’s own. He looked more fit and nine centimeters taller. I noticed that both Joe and Fesoul were about two meters tall.

I checked the land prices, and it was one silver coin per acre! I went to a hotel, where the prices were a bit more reasonable: 1 bronze coin per day.

We were able to get a suite, because Doom was royalty in one of the biggest kingdoms in the world. There were four beds, black carpet, four armchairs, a dinner table, a kitchen, and a single bathroom. I asked why there was only one bathroom. The team explained that you don’t need to use the bathroom once you absorb six soul stones. There was a living room with a projector, and a weird block of wood. Doom touched some numbers and it started rattling.

A projection came up, showing a creature of Doom’s kind. He was nine centimeters taller than Doom, suggesting he was diamond category to Doom’s silver. Doom siad, “Hi dad,” and his dad asked, “Who is that,” and he pointed at me. I haven’t seen his kind since I was three hundred and thirty-eight. He looked about fifty, and was in better shape than Doom. Doom had told me his father was about five hundred years old, and he only looked young because of the anti-aging effects of diamond category.

He and his dad talked about stuff I didn’t remotely understand for almost an hour before it was time for dinner. Doom’s dad was in another time zone, so it wasn’t dinner time for him. Doom just put a silver coin in his mouth. I went out to a restaurant. There was a monster more powerful than a normal barreling hedgehog, so I summoned my Waeswar and he killed the monster. I collected the drops from it, and I got nothing good. I had a local delicacy, and when I got back to the suite it was about eight o'clock. I went to the projector, and it projected a TV, which I watched until about eleven o’clock, which is when I went to bed. I woke up at about six AM.

Doom had woken me up, with his alarm. It was weird, it sounded like a brick had hit a piece of steel four times at a frequency of two hundred thirty-seven hz. How I could tell, I don’t know. He took me to a complex. He spoke to the reception. He said “First of all, I need a silver category badge. Second, I want to register a new one. Arjun, is that OK?” “For what?” I asked. “One of the highest-paying jobs in the world.” “Of course” I responded! What a great opportunity! Doom put a badge on the counter, along with a small device. They flipped over that badge, and took out a small device, and put a new one in-the one Doom provided. They made some modifications to it, and gave it back to Doom. Doom turned to me. He said, “We’ll start your training tomorrow.” Then, we went to a training yard, and I watched them train. It was amazing. It was like watching a Taekwondo demo done by superheroes using their powers. They were also, as I've mentioned before, insanely fit. Doom was the fittest of them all, being silver category. I was a nonillion percent amazed (a nonillion is the real term for ten to the power of fifty-four).

At around 10 o’clock, they popped bronze coins in their mouths. They told me to get out of the area, because they were going to practice soul stuff. At about noon, we actually all had lunch. At the table, they presented to me 4 items. They were these:

Soul stone of darkness

Soul stone of sin

I felt a great power surging within me. I started glowing with gray light. Doom tossed me a bottle of the thing he had poured on himself when he had become silver category. Gunk shot out of my pores. I poured the stuff on myself. It felt like I needed to climb a mountain or run a marathon or something. I used to be a normal-looking person, but now I was about as fit as a mediocre professional athlete. I equipped my atrion armor. I could run at twenty kilometers per hour for an hour without getting tired. I could jump one meter into the air and not get hurt. I could knee my head just as easily as a Taekwondo black belt. I could memorize books and read them at ten times the pace of a normal person. I ate an iron coin for dinner. It tasted like tangy pineapple. I finally went to bed after dinner, knowing I would need to for my training.

I woke up at six because of Doom’s alarm. We started training on strength, flexibility, and using my traits appropriately with Doom until lunch, which was just a coin. After that, we trained with Fesoul on magic and soul. We trained with Joe after dinner until bedtime on everything else required. This went on for a week, when we took a break because Doom had to go on a business trip to assess some iron-category people to get the job I was training for.

After Doom came back, we started training more rigorously, with doom waking us up at five o’clock. We had a month left before I would get assessed for my job. A week before the assessment, Doom took me to a mansion. A peak silver-category answered the door. She called upstairs, “Bob! The sparring partner from Doom’s recommendation is here!”

A person as fit as a bronze-category came, even though I could sense he was iron-category. We spared for an hour every day for a week, while Doom, Joe, and Fesoul sparred with his mother, who was almost as powerful as a gold-category. One thing I had been taught was that gold-categories were elite and diamond-categories were almost mythical. No diamond-category had had anyone but a fellow diamond-category see their combat ability, as the collateral damage for a diamond-category fight was so massive, it would kill a gold-category. A diamond category could run across the Earth in a few seconds, they could jump to the moon, and they could look into the future, for some examples of their power. It was so immense, that there were very few, even though if they weren’t killed, they could live for a thousand years. Doom, Joe, and Fesoul were some of the few people lucky enough to have met one, but Doom’s grandfather was diamond category, so that was sort of a given.

On the day of the assessment, we went out into the woods. We stayed out there for ten days. I passed. I got the job. I started making recordings for my family if I ever got back.

I got my badge for the job. But then, there was a shocking turn of events. Doom told me the job was to protect people. One day, a silver category guard noticed a dragon the size of a large house flying towards the city. Civilians were sent to a safe bunker. I had to fight though, should it invade.

The dragon arrived, and burnt most of the town, along with most of its iron and copper categories and a few bronze categories. I then sensed it was a gold-category. The town’s forty or so silver-categories assaulted, while ranged attack specialists-including me, with my spell, Bad Omen, and Execute attacked. Most died, however, so it was just a bunch of bronze. Most of them, too, were incinerated, or tail swept, or got stomped.

Under a melted apartment building, I saw Doom, contemplating and muttering something. I jumped onto the building, ignoring the sulfurous smell. I looked down, and saw that from the knee down, I was covered in blood and heat. I activated my cloak and dimmed the light further, with the dragon's smoke obscuring the sky. As I did a jumping roll onto the roof, I saw the dragon destroy the hotel I had been staying in since my first day on Glassfay.

Doom was hanging from an overhang that was holding on by one thread. As it broke, I saw a flash of orange light, and then Doom had wings flying him back up.

"This fricking, stupid summon ring!" He yelled, so loud, that everyone in the bunker could hear. I faintly heard some children repeating it. He clicked the diamond on his diamond ring. Nothing happened, and he cursed. I tapped him on the back. "Doom, we don't need you to keep clicking a ring," I said, not bothering to look down from the dragon. All around us, the city was in chaos. Bob's house was one of the few standing stuctures. I saw a purple glow enmating from it. He swore, then looked at me. He said, "I have a plan, and it is very dangerous." I nodded.

"I know there is a wocal under the town senate. I'll get there and call my grandfather. I'll follow the aquadect until it reaches the city square. I'll use the crack there and my flight power to break the ground there. There's a warehouse underneath that reaches under the town square, but the door has been fused to the ground and covered in two feet of thick rock. At the edge of the city square, the warehouse under the senate has a thin roof and a crack. I'll bust through and call my grandfather. He can summon his sword and come in a thitieth of a second.

It'll only take ten seconds. That's my part."

I replied, "What's my part?"

Doom said, "That's the risky thing. You need to go out and distract the dragon. Joe and Fesoul are injured. Bob's mom is injured. Bob wasn't allowed to fight by his mom. Most worldsafers have been killed. Civilians are too weak. A lot of worldsafers are on contracts or are too slow. In short, you are the only one who can do it."

"I think I'll die. I may have a triumph card, though," I said, as I felt the small blue token growing hot. "Why don't I call instead? You are way more tanky. If I get hit, I'm done for."

"You don't know his number," Doom reminded me, smiling. The prince was right though, so I waded away, scowling. It hurt to wade through the scorching-hot blood, but it had to be done.

"Hey, sinner!" I said to the dragon. "You want to go to where sinners go? Because I have the sin soul stone." It breathed fire, incinerating my shirt. I swam away, saying, "Your luck's fate is to suffer." The dragon fell out of the air, with a mighty "Thud!" I heard people screaming, thinking there was an earthquake. People were falling over. The dragon had crushed a large portion of the city wall. It didn't help that at that exact moment, Doom destroyed the ground over the warehouse. I heard Doom throwing the worldsafers that the owners had selfishly took to be guards out to the fight, where when the dragon breathed fire, it destroyed all my clothes and killed them.

The bunker had been thrown into pandemonium. People were running away, only to crash into each other or the walls. Someone wailed, "The periscope is only showing blood! Ahhh!" I was wading around in a river of molten blood as the dragon scooped me up into its mouth. I ran out, all thought of magic forgotten, and I narrowly escaped-except missing my ear! My waeswars tried to heal it, but it wasn't that powerful. The sulfurous air started seeping into the bunker, where I heard thuds as people fainted.

I pulled out the token.

World Warper:

Diamond Category

Say, “feel the power of reality remade.”

Will instantly kill anything beneath diamond category you want, but only one.

It burned my other arm off. In a cold, hard, bone-chilling, granite voice I said, “Feel the power of reality reamde.” The dragon tattered up and exploded. The civilians were let out. The fight had destroyed most of the stuff in the city. Someone saw eleven more of the dragons coming, but Doom had finally called his grandfather. We were about two thousand kilometers away, so, with his jade-category speed, he arrived in about a thirtieth of a second, walking on air with the speed he was at. He started hitting the dragons with his sword, and they died after two of three hits each. I collected the drops from the dragon I killed.

Arjun’s arm and ear had been cut off. Doom’s grandfather picked him up and flew to the suite in a nonillionth of a second, where he gave him a gold-category healing potion. “There,” Doom’s grandfather said. He should be fine by tomorrow. Then, Doom’s grandfather left.

***

I woke up groggily. It felt like I had just had a silver coin. I noticed a system message:

You have earned title: Immortality of category

Immortality of category: Defeating a much stronger enemy has left a change in your soul. This will make enemies afraid and increase your soul strength by a minor milestone.

I noticed a scar, going from my left ear, to my neck, where it turned, went to my right shoulder, and went out to my elbow, and wrapped around my arm there. When I went outside, I saw the true devastation to Magicspestone.

The building I was in was a shack, somehow made purely out of swords. The blood, while some had been let out, was still a meter high. The air, while no longer toxic to normal-categories, was sulfurous. Many buildings had been melted. The lake to wade through, with melted buildings and blood, was two meters high, with corpses like lily pads everywhere. Some blood and material had cooled to form a new, entirely flat floor. The dragon corpses were littered on the streets, crushing what I estimated to be seventy corpses and seventy tons of material. To put it as something that could happen on earth, imagine Pompeii when it was destroyed. Now imagine twelve dragon corpses, a bunch of human corpses, and a one meter-high lake of blood on top.

It looked like that. The shack crumbled, the swords disappearing. Small children were being carried. So many people were closing their eyes, people kept bumping into each other. I saw at least one child being swept away from their family by the current, who I picked up and returned. The family was really grateful, but I had moved on. I kept going until I had seen the entire city. Only some silver-category buildings had survived, and they were heavily damaged. Only one building was untouched: the Gokfur manor. Gokfur was Bob's last name.

I had heard that his house was gold-category. For the next month or so, only building efforts were done. Doom's grandfather had casted a spell so no monsters could spawn in the next month without being hit by a jade-category sword within fifty kilometers of Magicspestone.

Doom told me I had to go to the worldsafers hall for work. While I was going to the worldsafers hall, I noticed a small thing, on the edge of what I could sense with my soul. I didn't know what it was, but I knew it could be big. When I could see the complex, it looked like a gray tower, with seval offshoots. I sensed a lot of souls in there, that were such a high-category it had to be high-category.

I went to the complex, got my worldsafers badge, and got pointed towards the jobs hall, where I could get a job by a couple of bronze-categories, who, for some reason, had donned blocky, black suits with burple eyes. They were three meters tall. They were also wearing black headbands with red fists.

It was a white hall, with brown noticeboards, with the words iron, copper, bronze, and silver, and a number of stars on each board. The noticeboards had some contracts each. I picked one that was interesting. It was a contract to clear out some thieves and arrest them. The reward was a hundred thousand bronze coins, so I took it. I had to give it to a man in a booth. He said, “You have to pick a one-star iron category contract. That’s a bronze category, three-star contract.” I put it back and chose a contract to clear out an infestation of ice walkers in a mountain village for twenty thousand iron coins, and three thousand bronze coins. There was also a bonus of five gold coins. I took the contract. I decided to use my power stone of the dragon. It said:

You have unlocked soul stone of darkness power (teleport of shadows)

Class mobility

Effect (copper)

You can teleport to any shadow within a hundred miles

Cost: low movement mana

I teleported to a house’s shadow. I saw the ice walkers moving towards me. I conjured my cloak. I summoned my waeswar. “Your luck’s fate is to suffer. Your luck’s fate is to suffer.” They started falling off the mountain, and the ones I didn’t attack were stung so painfully by my waeswar that they fell off the mountain. Out of an ice cave, a giant ice walker came. I could sense it was silver category. I used my golden firespewer, and it died. Ten more came. “You will die,” I said, and one went on half health. It chopped off my leg, and I froze it with my powers. I used my iron-category balance to keep on balance. I started sword fighting against it, until my atrion sword broke. I punched it, and it shattered. I collected the drops from it, and received the same coins as I got when I beat the dragon, but I also got a power stone of ice. I used it right away, and I got a power that slowed down an opponent’s heart fifty percent, for moderate death mana, without a cooldown, and the incantation was, “Freeze, bloodless one,” and it was on the blood soul stone. It was called Frozen Blood. I tried using it on another ice walker, but they don’t have blood. I teleported back to the job hall. I said, “I’m missing a leg because I fought ten giant silver-category ice walkers, and I could kill one, and I got a new power, but some silver-categories need to go up there and kill them.”

You have earned the title (Mentally strong)

Mentally strong: your soul heals you and its strength increases by two minor milestones.

My leg began to heal. My soul strength was now iron three. Once my leg healed, I practiced with my new powers, using them to be a sort of teleporting afflictions ninja. I could also attack with my soul. After a couple days, I got the pay. I then took another contract to clear a rat infestation in the sewer, but the rats had teeth that could bite through rock. I did that in just a day, with no problem, as my quest power informed me when all the rats were dead. I did that sort of thing for the next two months. There weren't really any intresting contracts during that time.

It was really boring, but it was also a good lifestyle. I was one of the hundred richest people in Magicspestone, which was a city of seven million people. I had also met many more people, with me having to meet around a hundred new people a day.

One time, as I was sitting in the billionaires box of a theater (at the time, I was worth about seventeen billion dollars), I sensed something with my soul. "The dragon flew to Uijen and burned it," Said the narrarator. The dragon flew to the city of Uijen and burned it in the play. The Worldsafers were helpless against it.

I ran out of the booth and looked up. People were staring at me. I jumped to the roof and grabbed a floating magical candle. I pulled out my worldsafer badge and showed it to the people. Most left. A few stayed in a bunker uderneath the theater, and the actors were taken backstage. I jumped on a platform carriyng the candle.

I saw a silver-category with pure black on blending in with the ceiling. As the silver-category (I could sense from his soul his name was Hyub) jumped down, I summoned my cloack and waeswars.

I jumped away from Hyub. As he jumped towards me, I leapt to the stage. I drew my sword, a dancer's blade made out of a combonation of steel, titanium, and gold. As Hyub ran towards me, I ducked behind a pile of plastic slag. Hyub didn't stop and tripped over it. Abjwe stung Hyub on the forehead and calf.

I hit his spine with my dancer's blade and backed away, but it did no damage to the silver-category. "In the clash of life, I shall emerge victourius with strength." I sensed Hyub got seventy per cent damage reduction. "Oh yeah? Two can play at that game. Your luck's fate is to suffer." He tripped on his big toe. I laughed and stabbed the back of Hyub's head with my sword. It couldn't crack his skull.

Hyub jumped towards me. I switched out my sword for a longsword. Hyub tried changing directions but couldn't. He impaled himslef all the way through the head on the longsword. He would probably die soon.

"If one, me, shall go, all shall."

There was a mighty explosion. That was all I remembered before I passed out.

I woke up to immense pain in my left foot. I sensed I had broken every bone, but they had healed most. It had taken a silver-category healer.

What was worse for Magicspestone, though, was that the entire entertainment district had been destroyed. About two hundred thousand people had died. My foot looked like a jade-category baby dragon had bit it and lifted the top half. Everything below the bottom of the arch had been restored, but it was stll hanging from my foot.

I sensed all my bones had got stronger. My foot was slowly fusing itself, but I couln't walk for a week and go on contracts for two weeks. Even then, the doctor said to keep it light. It took a month before I could get back to normal.

If my foot hadn't taken the blast, about six and a half million people would have died, and 6.8 million would have been severly injured. I knew it would take eight months to fix the district.

Once my foot got back to normal, I took advantage of the strngthened bones to help me. I could lift heavier weights. With this, I started taking harder contracts.

One day, as I was leaving the hotel for work, I noticed part of the sky had turned purple. I thought there might be a contract to remove it. There was nothing of the sort. However, I heard people muttering about the purple in the sky. There were rumors that a diamond-category lived there. There were rumors that it was evil magic. It turned out to be something simlar, but not too simlar.

A few days later, someone emerged from the purple. It was a gold-category. He announced, from a thousand feet in the air, so loudly that anyone within fifty kilometers would have heard, “I have a contest. The second-place prize is five power stones. The first place prize is a surprise. Who would like to join? You have to be iron category.” Almost all the iron-categories within fifty kilometers did, including me. A white ladder descended from the purple. I climbed it, realizing that it was not purple, but the full rainbow, as the bottom was purple, the walls were blue, and the towers were all the other colors. It was great, especially as the gold-category gave us all a room that was the size of a house.

A few days later, ships started pouring into the harbor. The gold-category went out to meet them. I saw multiple jade-category kings here, with their iron-category adult child.

A few days after that, I felt a lurch, as I realized that we were leaving Magicspestone. I went down to the training room, figuring I would have to start training like before I got my job. I soon realized I wanted to know the specifics of the mission, so I asked the gold-category. He said we were going to have to get a very powerful sword, and overcome enemies of up to bronze category. I asked why he couldn’t do it himself, and he said only up to iron category could enter. I then went to a deserted training room, and thought about what had happened ever since I got to Glassfay, and it was crazy. Then, out of the blue, a system message came up:

Weaswars (Bood) Copper 5 (92%)

Perception of Darkness (Darkness) Copper 7 (18%)

Sinfree Soul (Sin) Copper 7 (92%)

Cloak of Death (Death) Copper 5 (54%)

Bad Omen (Omen) Copper 4 (96%)

Execute (Doom) Copper 3 (4%)

Teleport of shadows (Darkness) Copper 6 (83%)

Flozen Blood (Blood) Copper 6 (22%)

I practiced with my soul for a few hours until this happened:

Sinfree Soul (Sin) Copper 8 (0%)

“Yes!” I said. At that exact moment, someone walked in the room. “What are you so happy about,” they asked. I said, “I just leveled up a power.” They said, “Hmmmm, you do feel like you just reached bronze 1 in soul strength.” I told them I had two titles.

I had a few more days to practice, so I did so. A few hours before we arrived, a system message came up. I’d learned to control the system messages showing my powers, and one popped up:

Weaswars (Blood) Bronze 0 (0%)

Perception of Darkness (Darkness) Bronze 0 (0%)

Sinfree Soul (Sin) Bronze 0 (0%)

Cloak of Death (Death) Bronze 0 (0%)

Bad Omen (Omen) Bronze 0 (0%)

Execute (Doom) Bronze 0 (0%)

Teleport of shadows (Darkness) Bronze 0 (0%)

Frozen Blood (Blood) Bronze 0 (0%)

Waeswars would now poison enemies it bit and was humanoid. Perception of Darkness allowed me to enhance all my senses. Sinfree Soul made me resistant to any affliction from the Soul Stone of Sin. Cloak of Death allowed me to glide. Bad Omen made bronze category monsters rain on the enemy. Execute increased the category of one-shoting to bronze and allowed for extreme death mana to one-shot a silver, and had a low chance to twenty-shot a gold-category. Teleport of shadows increased my teleport range to any shadow I’ve been to before or is within a hundred miles, or I could see. I could also create a portal, but my range for the portal was fifty kilometers, and the portal had a cooldown of ten minutes, and the portal cost high movement mana. Frozen blood could cause cardiac arrest now.

“Yes!” I cheered. Now I had to practice using my powers as a set at bronze-category.

We reached, after about three hours of me getting all my powers to bronze. We saw a portal over us, and the gold-category told us to go in, and what the mission was for. We all went in.

Going through the portal caused a slight distortion. The ambient magic was higher. A silver-category monster spawned. It was a fire walker. “You will die,” I said, channeling extreme death mana into it.

You have defeated (fire walker)

Would you like to collect the drops from (fire walker)

“Yes”

You have collected the drops from (fire walker)

You have received 2 gold coins

You have received 20 silver coins

You have received 200 bronze coins

You have received 2000 iron coins

You have received 200000 normal coins

You have received power stone of fire

I used the power stone of fire.

You have unlocked soul stone of sin power (cleansing fire)

Class healing

Effect: copper

Creates a fire that cleanses any afflictions, diseases, or poisons, giving low increases to all stats, including mana and health

Incantation: Cleansing of sins, come forth

Cost: low mana-per-second

Cooldown: 5 seconds

It was now night time, so I brought out a portable tent with a bed in it, and went to sleep. I had a contact list power, so I added Bob, Doom, Joe, Fesoul, my entire family, and all my friends on Earth. I could also give interface to people, who I could then telepathically communicate with. I gave it to all my contacts. The drawback was the telepathy and calling had a distance limit, and I was too far from everyone. I couldn't fall asleep until around one AM because of nervousness. I had heard this was one of the hardest trials ever, and many a person who had reached silver-category had died in here. I was also worried about moral decay. I mean, I had killed without giving a second thought? I thought I was becoming immoral.

I woke up to that system message. I took down my tent, and, to my suprise, there were six other tents. There were seven power stones of the orb outside. I tried grabbing them all, but I could only grab one. I used it:

You have unlocked soul stone of death power (orb of death)

Class pefigh

Effect (copper)

Summons an Orb of Death as a pefigh

I summoned the Orb of Death. It said, “I am Ordeath, the overseer of the trials of death.”

“I will not help you with the trials,” said Ordeath. “The first trial is to choose between trial A or trial B. I chose trial A. Everyone else chose trial B. Everyone else had their orb of death lead them to a battlefield. My orb led me to a wall.

He said, “You will have to cross this wall. It is a living, gold category wall.”

I summoned my waeswar. I conjured my cloak. “Your luck’s fate is to suffer. Freeze, bloodless one.” I then remembered that at silver-category, some of the gunk that comes out is your blood. I must have had a nonillion instances of good luck, though, because a power stone of affliction appeared just then. I absorbed it:

You have unlocked soul stone of death power (slow death)

Class affliction

Effect (copper)

Creates, or adds an instance of (slow death) to targeted enemy

Cost: low death mana

Incantation: Suffer the cost of the lifetime

slow death: does twenty damage a second

I got this message:

“Suffer the cost of a lifetime. Suffer the cost of a lifetime. Suffer the cost of a lifetime.”

After a while, the wall died. I had killed the living gold category wall.

It took me an hour to let it sink in. Last time I had killed a gold-category, I couldn't let it sink in, because of the damage. Most people didn't ever kill a gold-category in their life, and I did it before the age of twelve? I think it is really odd. I was only iron category. But is what I have been doing ethically correct? Would this make me into a monster? I'm worried about morral decay. I can't give up, though, becuase I have heard things about me being the destinied saviour of Glassfay.

I was thinking about something Doom had told me. "When you are not working as a worldsafer, it is a great thing. Parties, riches, glory, all those things. Worldsafers only work three to four hours a day, so most of the time, life is great. It is during those hours that you earn it. Killing dangerous monsters. Walking through fire so no one else has to. Are you sure you want to take this path? I understand, worldsafers have superhero and superhuman abillities. It is also a very dangerous path. If you survive, you have great hounour-but also great guilt. It is our human capibilties that make us who we are. A godly-category isn't a human. They are simply an extension of the world's magic.

I have seen many a worldsafer who went down the path of moral decay or overwheleming guilt eating you up. If you can survive that, yet stay human, that is what makes a truely great worldsafer. Do you know how there are platinum-categories in the worldsafer hall of fame? Not supreme abilities. Not riches. Human qualities. Mortal qualities. Do you know how the elemental kings, the most extreme manifestation of evil, were started? They were worldsafers gone astray. They lost all their mortal and moral capibility. They became extensions of the most evil evil. Death itself."

I was thinking about that for a couple hours. It has been something that kept me up at night lately. I couldn't sleep until four AM thinking about it.

I realized that the wall had to be moved. I summoned my waeswar. I asked Ordeath for help. Ordeath didn’t give me any help, however hard I tried. I remembered just then to collect the drops from the wall.

You have collected the drops from (golden wall of death)

You have received 2 gold coins

You have received 20 silver coins

You have received 200 bronze coins

You have received 2000 copper coins

You have received 20000 iron coins

You have received 20000000 normal coins

You have received (power stone of shadow telekinesis)

You have received (shield of unbreakable gold) (gold category)

You have received (World Warper)

I only then realized I needed to name my waeswar. I asked Ordeath about it, as Fesoul had told me pefighs for the same person could talk to each other, and, starting at bronze category, their summoner. Ordeath said, “He wishes to be called Abjwe.” I named him Abjwe. I then absorbed the power stone of shadow telekinesis:

You have unlocked soul stone of darkness power (shadowy perfection)

Class perfection area

Effect (copper

You have complete control of anything in your shadow up to four categories ahead of you

I cast my shadow upon the wall, and completely destroyed it. “Good job,” said Ordeath, looking inwards. “Now it is time for the second trial. It is now ten, and, therefore, we will do the trial tomorrow. Good night,” said Ordeath. I had an instance of overwork, so I said, “Cleansing of sins, come forth,” and stepped through the fire, and turned it off after 104 seconds. I hadn't been sleeping well lately becuase of moral decay concerns. If I somehow got back, I wondered what my parents were going to say. I knew I was killing bad people and monsters, but still, they are living things. I know it is for the greater good, but it is hard, knowing I have blood on my hands.

I knew a lot of people didn't care about moral decay, but with my power set and mindset, it was hard not to worry. It was common for people with my power set to go stray, or even affliction speacilists or skirmsihers, which I am. I knew I wasn't getting enough sleep, but if anyone had to kill people and monsters for a living, it was hard to sleep. are the ethics correct? it is hard to kill people for a living because of ethics. Often, I only went to sleep because of system messages.

I woke up to that system message. I noticed the cleansing fire around my bed was fixing broken bones and muscle sprains, and burning enemies who came close. Shadowy perfection was now increasing the size of my shadow, but I could make it smaller or make it disappear. I collected the drops of the monsters, but I found nothing interesting, until I found a power stone, and I absorbed it:

You have absorbed power stone of luck

You have unlocked soul stone of omen power (perfect luck)

Class luck aid

Effect (copper)

Makes your luck perfect, unless you have an effect that gives you bad luck, or are dealing with an enemy of a higher category

Won’t be good until I get out, I thought. I asked Ordeath to do the next trial. He told me to get to a specific building. I started fighting my way there, getting a new power:

You have absorbed power stone of weaponry

You have unlocked soul stone of doom power (blade of death)

I started using the dagger. The jade-category ice king came, and I treid teleporting away. The Ice King was an elemental king and a jade-category gone astray. It was extremely worrying, so I summoned a bunch of daggers on the floor behind me to slow him down, but they did little but annoy him. He jumped over the daggers like a kangaroo and attacked with his sword of ice. The blow was so strong that the dagger was knocked out of my hand and froze. I summoned the cleansing fire and my cloak, because I had heard that he was weak to fire. Whenever he dealt a blow, I summoned a new one.

I needed help, badly. It was extremly worrying to have a jade-category to fight alone, but Shadeath started draining his mana. I tried teleporting away, but every time, a peice of ice flew out of both of both our inventories, and flew us to each other, knocking me off. I had no ice in my inventory, so I think he conjured the ice. “Suffer the cost of a lifetime. Freeze, bloodless one. Suffer the cost of a lifetime. Your luck’s fate is to suffer. You will die.” That seemed to have no effect whatsoever on the monster. “Feel the power of reality remade.” That did a bit of damage, but not a lot. Abjwe started to die, so I called him back in to let him heal. I tried using my soul, but it hit me with a soul attack so powerful I was dealing with tourture.

“Suffer the cost of a lifetime. Suffer the cost of a lifetime. Suffer the cost of a lifetime.

Suffer the cost of a lifetime. Suffer the cost of a lifetime. Suffer the cost of a lifetime.

Suffer the cost of a lifetime. Freeze, bloodless one. Suffer the cost of a-.” That was all I could remember before I blacked out.

***

The ice king got on top of Arjun, nearly crushing him, but seeing food in the distance, ran off.

***

I’m defending against suppression. It hurts so much I would almost become a monster to stop.

The pain went up. I would be dead if Abjwe wasn’t fighting. It’s like having your body destroyed and your soul sent into a volcano, with the same pain receptors as a body.

The ice king is going to kill me. My guess is it’s been thirty hours since I started getting suppressed.

***

I wonder why that iron-category midget hasn’t died yet. I need to suppress it harder.

***

Arrgh! I wonder how I haven’t died yet, after about forty-eight hours. Owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! This hurts so much, I almost want to die. I wonder how jade-categories are so powerful! Put emphasis on the so. I'mworried about this. This pain is unbearable. Snap! Went something, and it hurt even more. I'malso worried about moral decay. If this is what it is, I'm extremely frightened.

***

That midget hasn’t died yet? This is odd. I might want to never stop, just to see how long it goes before he dies. What? I broke some of his bones and tore his clothes? Odd.

***

“I’m worried about the iron-categories,” said the gold category. “Guess the strength has gone up. They will be back soon, I’m sure.

***

“I think I can get a few jade-categories in,” I said, and did so.

***

I went in, and scoured the territory. I sensed most of them were getting on fine, but one was being suppressed by an ice king. We went towards it and killed it, then we left.

***

“Yes!” I cheered. My soul was unsuppressed, and I felt a team of jade-categories had killed it. I got a new title:

You have earned title: perfectly elite

Overcoming such a strong suppression makes your soul almost unsupressable, and increases the soul’s strength by a major milestone.

My soul strength was now silver 3.

I got to the building, killing all the remaining monsters with relative ease. Killing with ease was something I was worried about, as killing is unethical. With every kill, it was like my mental burden increased a ton. By the time I had moved fourteen meters, the air smelled of blood. It was like walking through a pool of multi-coloured blood. When I got to the thrid trial, I wiped the blood away on a spare washcloth. Ordeath said, “Enter that building.” I did so, and I was then in a village. I turned off all my powers. “Will you destroy this village,” Ordeath asked. “I won’t,” I said. “Are you sure,” he said. “Yes,” I said. He said, “Destroy the village,” he said. “No,” I said, and then I left.

Ordeath said, “You have passed. I have something for you.”

You have absorbed power stone of life

You have unlocked soul stone of blood power (immortality)

Class immortality

Effect (copper)

You can’t die of old age until the age of two categories ahead of you

“Powerful,” I said. “Thank you, Ordeath.” I was starting to feel a shimmer of hope for the first time since entering the space.

I fell into a pit, with hundreds of bronze-category monsters. “Suffer the cost of a lifetime. Freeze, bloodless one. Arize, blade of one. Cloak of death, arize. Cleansing of sins, come forth. Your luck’s fate is to suffer. Freeze, bloodless one. Suffer the cost of a lifetime. Suffer the cost of a lifetime. Freeze, bloodless one. Your luck’s fate is to suffer.” There was a silver-category boss. Fortunately, I had a weapon for that. “You will die,” I said, channeling extreme mana, then walking through a cleansing fire.

It was nighttime now, so I went to bed.

“Enter that building,” Ordeath said. I did so. “That portal leads to you suffering, and hundreds of innocent prisoners being liberated, and that one leads home,” Ordeath said.

I went to the liberating one, and there was a voice. “Everyone else has died,” it said. I got a power stone of shadow. I used it:

I summoned him. He said, “My name is Shadeath.” I saw a sword. I tried lifting it, but it was too heavy. There was a diamond-category monster, but with a copper-category soul. I started suppressing its soul, but it punched me to the other side of the room, breaking all my bones. I used the cleansing fire. We were locked in battle when something miraculous happened.

Outsider gift evolution

Inventory and levitation became Soul House and Levitation

I could open a portal to the soul house, so that’s what I did. In the house, the monster died. I put the sword in the soul house.

I was above the rainbow palace. The gold-category said, “Why did only you come out?” I responded, “Everyone else died.” I gave him the sword. He said, “Your prize is this.” He gave me a flask with some sort of rainbow liquid. “Drink it,” he said. I did. I got a message:

You have unlocked new template power (rainbow counjourement and control).

You can summon a rainbow construct (1/6)

Available forms (iron)

Rainbow house (adaptive)

Rainbow house (cozy)

Rainbow house (grand)

Rainbow house (normal)

Rainbow house (pick color)

I conjured a rainbow house, and I got a flask. I opened it, and I got a message saying this:

Rainbow house (adaptive)

Rainbow house (cozy)

Rainbow house (grand)

Rainbow house (normal)

Rainbow house (pick color)

I chose none. We started flying back to Magicspestone, and while I was training on day three, this happened:

They were all improved. All the pefighs got two more bodies, and could transform into certain things. He told me some things about the ability, such as what it would give at higher categories (at gold category it gave a palace, for example).

I started gliding, looking for a place to get a house. I finally found a plot of empty land for sale, for one silver coin. I paid the silver coin, and used the grand house from the rainbow flask. I went to the suite, and told Doom, Joe, and Fesoul I got a house. They asked, “How?” I explained what happened in the contest. We left the suite, and went to the house. I found the interior was different from the gold-category’s rainbow palace. I saw that you went into the entry hall, which had some stairs leading upstairs, which had an office, two bathrooms, and six bedrooms. Downstairs, there was a living room, a calling machine, a laundry room, six closets, a TV projector, another living room, a kitchen, a garage, a stable, an indoor pool, a studio, a ping pong/pool table, a storage area, an indoor garden, a basketball court, and a football stadium. There were also four dining rooms upstairs. I also had a training room and furnace room in the basement.

I opened the flask again, looking to upgrade it. I had millions of runes in my inventory, which were practically useless. I poured some generator runes in, and, to my surprise, the house started making electricity, and had lightbulbs. I wanted to get a balcony. I poured some runeteller runes into my flask, and I got a room which told me what to put in for each upgrade. For a balcony, I had to pour some balcony runes. I poured some balcony and backyard runes in, and got a balcony and backyard. I wanted a mint. I had to pour in a diamond coin and a lot of money runes. I did so. I modeled the house to my liking, nearly doubling its side.

I then went to bed in a rainbow bed. It was extremely comfortable. It was more comfortable than anything in my whole life. I got up, and my soul still hurt from being suppressed. I then thought to get it healed. I drank a diamond-category healing-potion. I then passed out.

When I woke up, it was lunch. I used the interdimensional room to check the date on Earth. It was the twenty-ninth of December on Earth. I went to the job hall, looking for a festive contract. I found one, and did it. I then wanted to have a party for new years. It was easy to do one, because a year on Glassfay was entirely flipped. New years on Glassfay was on July thirty-first. It was much harder explaining to Doom, Fesoul, and Joe, who I found out were called Team R54. R54 came from Doom’s family, which required a specific name for each team. I then remembered my birthday was on January twelfth. I hadn’t thought about that since third grade. I remembered I was turning ten this year. My Glassfay birthday was Eightmonth fourth, as that was the day I arrived. I also had sevenmonth thirteenth as the day I was supposed to get older, as that was Glassfay for January twelfth.

I started taking contracts at a rate of five to six a day. By my birthday, after I had got back, I had done sixty-six contracts. I took the day off.

I stayed home from work on my birthday. Team R54 had a gift for me-copper-category. I got fifteen power stones, and fifteen new afflictions. I asked why I was still one-star. They said you had to be eighteen to get two stars, and twenty-one to get three stars.

I had a party for my tenth birthday, but it couldn’t be too big. I was only friends with team R54, and Bob-the one who I had sparred with. It was a good party, though. I even got a lot of food-something I had never done since normal-category. It was the most fun thing I'd ever done on Glassfay. I also went to a higher category, but, because my soul was so powerful, I only went to soul strength silver 5. I did, however, become a body-soul combo. Okay, the official word is “gestalt,” but I didn’t know what that means, so I looked it up, and it’s a fancy word for combo.

Usually, how it works is that the soul goes inside the brain, in a cavity. If you become a gestalt, your soul expands, so that you have your soul everywhere, but it doesn’t interfere with anything that happens at your category.

While training to be a Worldsafer, when I was sparring with Bob, we had become friends. His mom didn’t let him do the contest, because, in their family, when you join a Worldsafer team, you become a copper-category. I could now throw around cars, jump five meters, and run at fifty kilometers per hour, for five hours. I could now knee over my head as easily as a Taekwondo Ee Dan Black Belt, whatever that meant. My translation ability allowed me to understand that Ee was Korean-Sino for one, and Dan was Korean for degree. So, apparently that meant “Taekwondo First Degree Black Belt.” My rainbow flask upgraded too, giving the constructs the ability to fly. Their size also increased, to double the iron-category size. I could now make it float or drive, too, and I could make it turn into a vehicle. I could still get template powers now. I also got the template power limit increased to nine. Joe gave another template power, The Sword of Death, which summoned a sword that categoried up with me. Doom gave me a template power that allowed me to learn any martial art up to the first black belt, so I said the following. “Taekwondo, jiu jitsu, judo, wrestling, muay thai, hapkido, krav maga, karate, kung fu, aikido, vidyut jamwal, and MMA.” I learned all of them.

I woke up to a llama standing on me. It started spitting at me, somehow doing damage. It was uber-weird. I just had to punch it and it ran off, but didn’t die.

I saw an assassin drop from the ceiling. Somehow, it was a gold-category minion.

“Who is your boss,” I said. He said, “My boss is the fire king.” The fire king was jade-category. I was in very big trouble.

I summoned my pefighs. I summoned my cloak and dagger. “You will die. Freeze, bloodless one. Death is imminent. We almost all die, but you will die sooner. Butterflies of disease, arise. Cleansing of sins, come forth. You are now cancerous. You will forget all with Alzhimers. Suffer the cost of a lifetime. Your luck’s fate is to suffer. Sweet sleep of death, step forth. Rot away, dead body. Bleed to death, bloodless one.”

My bevy of afflictions actually killed the gold-category, but not before every bone in my body broke, so I teleported into the fire.

I was worried about the fire king. The jade-categories had killed the ice king, but there were still the fire king, water king, sky king, lightning king, and the earth king. I had heard of a strange, sinister prophecy about the kings, among other things.

The prophecy goes as following:

The outsider shall vanquish the kings

Ice, Fire, Water, Sky, Lightning, and Earth

This is a pastiche

Sinister, right? If you remember, I’m not from Glassfay, apparently I’m an “Outsider,” and I’ve sort of defeated the ice king. So this could be referring to me. Doom told me no one else meets the criteria. I just found out-my house has a limited number of rooms. Anyways, this is quite scary, because this says I’ll get to the brink of death numerous times

I started doing more contracts. I then found an odd contract, which was to defeat an iron-category hydra on a lumber camp. I asked why a contract to defeat an iron-category monster was a copper-category contract.

The man at the desk said, “Eight iron-category worldsafers have failed to find it. If you can’t find it, we’ll have to blacklist him. I teleported to the lumber camp. I told the lumberjack to show me where the hydra was last. He did so, and I found some footprints.

I followed the tracks, until they switched from hydra to man. I followed the tracks until they stopped. I saw a man flying away. I started gliding after him. I said, “Ice of outside is nothing, so ice from within shall arise.” He stopped in his tracks, and I tied him up. “Cleansing of sins, arise.” I questioned him, and said, “Do you know why there was a hydra at this lumber camp?” He replied, “Yes, it was my pefigh.” I took him to the worldsafers hall.

I wasn't suprised when they decided to execute the person, but at the same time, I was unhappy with myself. I thought I was becomeing a monster.

One day, as I was having lunch in the town’s best restaurant, Bob walked up to me. He said, “Should we form a worldsafer team?” Doom, Joe, and Fesoul were a team. I said, “We need a third member. If we can find one, yes. Otherwise, no.” I finished eating, and then, I remembered Bob was an aristocrat. I told Bob, “Maybe we can have tryouts for the team. Since you're an aristocrat, people will want to join, so they can try out.” He approved, so I started making posters for the tryouts. I didn’t put them up, because I and Bob needed to decide on a date for the tryouts.

We decided on fourmonth fourth. Funny date, right? It was a good day, because monster rates have been historically low on fourmonth fourth, for some reason. You need a silver-category monsterspawnology to to find why, or access the records of why. It would take a bronze-category monsterspawnology expert to translate it into normal English, because the words were too technical.

I saw a wave, eight hundred kilometers from shore, and Magicspestone was about fifty miles from the coast. It was already two thousand meters tall, and approaching at eighty kilometers an hour. I watched for thirty seconds, before I calculated that a twenty-thousand meter tall wave would hit in seven hours, and cause flooding two hundred kilometers from shore. The damage for fifty kilometers, which would take an hour, would cost about seven gold coins, but in Magicspestone, it would cause forty-four diamond coins, eight gold coins, six silver coins, two bronze coins, five copper coins, four iron coins, and sixty-eight normal coins in damage, and from Magicspestone inwards, it would cost six hundred fifty-four diamond coins.

The damages would be huge, so I told Fesoul, who was nearby, and had the water soul stone. I then went to the worldsafers building, and they started calling people who had powers to fight the tsunami. I told Doom, who could get some gold or higher categories to help. I then told Bob, who told his mom. Her soul strength was silver nine, so she was able to sense it was a gold-category tsunami.

***

I told the magic association that the tsunami was coming, and they got more soul stone users who had power to fight it. I went to the yard where we were all assembling.

***

There were two hundred thirty-two soul stone users there. There were a hundred iron-categories, fifty-four copper-categories, forty-six bronze-categories, twenty silver-categories, ten gold categories, and two diamond-categories (Doom’s connections could get the diamond-categories and six of the gold-categories, Bob’s family could get three gold-categories, and a gold-category was doing some research one hundred eight kilometers away). A diamond-category sensed a gold-category was causing it, and a diamond-category was shielding him from soul attacks. A diamond-category stopped the diamond-category, and then the other diamond-category killed him with his soul. We all got a bevy of buffs. I could use my afflictions on the tsunami. I summoned my pefighs. I conjured my dagger and cloak. I said, “Ice of outside is nothing, so ice from within shall arise.” The inside froze, and left it twenty times smaller and slower. With no soul stone user to help it and with soul stone users against it, it was entirely destroyed within an hour.

Doom had just visited his great-great-great-great-grandfather, so when he portaled back to the rainbow house, I was leaning against the wall, so I fell through. I fell not outside-but to India! I fell onto someone, and I promptly got off.

He looked up at me. I introduced myself, and he introduced himself to be Aryav. We talked a bit about being an outsider (there were only two on the planet), and became fast friends. We portaled to Magicspestone, but the portal took us forty kilometers from where it should have led, and I portaled home. I gave him a guest room. I woke up at four, told Doom (who was also up early), and we started training him. We trained him for two months.

He then went to an intake, and passed. He got the badge two weeks after that. We then started training as a team.

After a week of discussions with Bob, we let Aryav finish our team. I didn’t need the posters anymore, so we threw them away.

I got a flask upgrade: for two diamond coins, and two thousand duplicator runes, I got a new flask upgrade. I could have three forms at once, and it was insanely helpful.

We could leave the Magicspestone house and have a vehicle, or a house for the night. They could talk to each other.

I put a house in Chennai, which was where my family lived. It was a grand in their complex.

***

We were going about our lives one evening, when in an empty lot, a rainbow house appeared. We went in, and felt Arjun, who was in our family, but had died last year from a gas explosion. We started scouring the rooms, and someone found a room with a video monitor showing Arjun in the same room. He said, “Hi, I’m not dead, but an alien kidnapped me, but don’t come. I can get home someday.” Someone fainted.

***

I could get home by using a mysterious token, which I wasn’t sure how to activate.

I could now do six forms, so I gave one to Aryav, who was on a solo contract. I said, “I’m in a world with magic, so now I’m a wizard,” to my family. We talked for quite a bit, and then I had the revelation that at bronze-category I could portal from this room to another world, but it would have an insane cooldown.

I said, “Wizards are sorted into categories. I’m copper-category. Once I reach bronze, I will be able to teleport home. Teleportation is one of my powers. We have thirty-one powers each. Look at this.” Then I teleported to the other side of the room, and they were amazed.

I then left the room. I went to the training room.

I started training. It was the week of fourmonth fourth, so monster rates were low.

Aryav came home from his contract. He said he had an outsider gift evolution that allowed him to change people’s soul stone abilities to some extent. I gave him a power stone. I then went back to training. At six am, I did a solo contract. It was easy enough to be back by lunch. I then called my family. I got a recording projector in the interdimensional room. At about two pm, there was a lightning storm. I sensed an iron-category was causing it.

I pulled out my rainbow flask and summoned a helicopter. People were surprised, but me doing odd things by Glassfay standards was the norm. I went into the clouds and saw the iron-category. “Mine is the judgment, and the judgment is death or life. Death.” I said. The iron-category died, and I came back. The lightning storm ended, and I could finally sense I’d angered a jade-category lightning king.

I was doing a schedule where I was doing two contracts a day after three hours of training, after which I would have a real lunch (not just a coin) after which I would work on studying for an hour, after which I would do three more hours of training, after which there would be a team practice for an hour, and then we would work on tactics for thirty minutes, after which I would stretch for fifteen minutes, after which I would do pliability for fifteen minutes (pliability is how someone played American football for a long time-at least mid-forties).

I would then call my family for about an hour, then I would go to bed. One of the contracts every day was a team contract, and the other was solo. I kept this up for about six months. Dinner and breakfast were coins. I once went to the interdimensional room, and looked at the noticeboard. At the top, it said, “New Years Eve On Earth Is Today!” I put Earth and Glassfay at the top of the list of planets to be informed about. I realized my birthday was coming up. It was 2017 on Earth. A gold-category assassin dropped from the ceiling. I said, “Mine is the judgment and the judgment is death or life. Death.” That wouldn’t kill him, so I summoned my pefighs, cloak, and dagger. “You will die. Death is imminent. We almost all die, but you will die sooner. Suffer the cost of a lifetime. Freeze, bloodless one. Ice from the outside is nothing, so ice from within shall arise. Suffer the cost of a lifetime. You are now cancerous. You will forget all with alzhimers. Rot away, dead body. Bleed to death, bloodless one. Sweet sleep of death, come forth. Cleansing of sins, arise. Mine is the judgment and the judgment is death or life. Death.” That didn’t kill him, so I started teleporting around, stabbing him with my dagger. Unfortunately, that’s when my family came. “Arjun, stop!” they exclaimed. I said, “He’s an assassin.” That made them stop.

I actually had to use the fire before I felt his soul weaken, if it was momentarily. I waited for it to happen again. I got an option to get a sword, and I did it, as he pulled out a sword. He was slowed down enormously, as I had frozen him, so we started sword fighting so fast it was like two jedis from Star Wars fighting. Everyone was amazed. He had one of those slips again, and I suppressed him, giving me a massive advantage. I killed him. I had enraged all six kings.

The prophecy said I would kill the kings, and this looked a lot like a pretense.

I received some big news. The assassin I had sent after Arjun Singh was killed. The assassin was gold-category to his copper! It was uber-shocking and I fainted on the spot.

When I woke up, I remembered he had killed Ice, who was my friend. He had angered all six kings in some way. I guess the prophecy is coming true:

The outsider shall vanquish the kings

Ice, Fire, Water, Sky, Lightning, and Earth

Ice shall fall against the diamond

Fire shall be overcome by arrogance

Water shall be its own bane

Sky shall lose one versus one to The Outsider

Lightning shall doom oneself

Earth, the mighty one, shall doom itself, out of closeness to doom for the outsider

The six shall merge into one great, evil, godly whole

Death shall arise

The outsider shall doom death, and shall reach the hearth in doing so

The hearth shall shift

Death shall reach Death

The outsider will reach the brink of Death

Life shall be restored

The outsider shall be eternal

The man who walks between worlds shall absorb the door

The door shall save life eternally

Monstrous death shall remain

The man who walks between worlds shall annihilate the monster of diamond

Peace shall be restored

Corruption shall be removed after peace is restored

The outsider shall prosper, with eternal work

This is a pastiche

He’s an outsider. At least it calls me the mighty one.

One of my ambassadors came back from the Earth to Sea Embassy. He told me all the kings were having a meeting in the mountains where Ice’s palace is. I just had a piece of dirt pick me up and fly there. All the kings had something like that. When I reached it, I put it in the ice stable. I went into the meeting room. Me, Fire, Water, Sky, and Lightning were there. I pulled out the piece of the prophecy that was relevant to us:

The outsider shall vanquish the kings

Ice, Fire, Water, Sky, Lightning, and Earth

Ice shall fall against the diamond

Fire shall be overcome by arrogance

Water shall be its own bane

Sky shall lose one versus one to The Outsider

Lightning shall doom oneself

Earth, the mighty one, shall doom itself, out of closeness to doom for the outsider

I said, “We need to defeat Arjun Singh. No question about that. We also need to beat our banes. Fire, arrogance. Water, yourself. Sky, combat abilities. Lightning, less diamond-category lightning bolts being used as a weapon. Me, don’t get to doom for Singh being on low health. I have to do a thorough job quickly.” Fire said, “I have to get more humble.” Water said, ”I have to not commit suicide.” Sky said, “I have to train more.” Lightning said, ”I also can’t commit suicide.” Water said, ”For the last one to find out and arrive, you covered the prompt well.” Fire wrote what we had to do down and gave them to us. Lightning said, “I should hit him with a lightning bolt.” He did so, but it didn’t hit, as Singh was in his rainbow house. “Meeting dismissed,” Water said. We all got on our methods of transport and went back.

***

Four days after the attack, a lightning bolt hit my house. It was a diamond-category lightning bolt. My roof was badly damaged, so we got to work fixing the roof. It took a day.

There was another tsunami, so we did the same thing as last time.

Clouds started falling on me, and then raining when they landed.

Fires started popping up when I walked. I had to keep my Cleansing Fire power on at all times, otherwise I would spontaneously combust.

I was causing sandstorms, mudslides, rockslides, and earthquakes wherever I went except home, so I asked the worldsafer branch leader to stay home from work. Bob’s mom sensed five jade-categories trying to kill me with their power stones. Then, one day, it came.

I was practicing with my soul, and suddenly, I felt more pain than when Ice was suppressing me. For one second I felt it was five jade-categories before I passed out, after yelling so loud that everyone in Magicspestone and the gold-category one hundred eight kilometers away heard.

***

I felt a tremendous shockwave of soul power. Only five jade-categories could have done that. I called all my connections, who got a thousand ruby-categories to fight their souls.

***

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh! Owwwwwwwwwww! This is insane tourture. I need help. Ordeath, thanks for buffing my soul’s strength. Shadeath, please fight the diamond-categories’ souls. Abjwe, please heal me. Whew! The pain eased up to when Ice suppressed me. Seems better.

I finally woke up. My soul strength was now gold three, the strongest in Magicspestone. It was January thirteenth, which was more torture. I realized I would have to fight the kings. I asked the committee of the worldsafers, and I got the drops from Ice.

I started training rigorously. I wanted to reach bronze soon.

***

It was Arjun’s birthday, and he hadn’t called us in six days. We were all very worried. He called us the day after, and said some diamond-categories had been torturing him.

***

I did six moves, then crumpled. A silver-category healer was in my house. He started trying to heal me, but I accidentally threw him out of the house with my power over it.

***

I was worried about a copper-category attaining such power. I went back in, thinking about how most of this information was restricted. I had had to learn it at a very low category, as my speciality was soul trauma. It wasn’t pretty. High-categories couldn’t go mouthing off about such a thing. It would have been insanely horrible for low categories. Soul experiments are hated by the worldsafer committee, so anyone doing those would be hunted down. It was usually silver-categories conducting the experiments, as they had the power and money, but weren’t scrutinized so much it was hard to do so. It was almost impossible for someone to reach gold-category without being known, and definitely not diamond. I had to help those people.

I reached the soul recovery room, and entered.

***

I couldn’t use my powers for two months. Rick, the healer who was helping me finally let me go back to usual after a test. I was clearing out a thousand or so contracts a day.

I would go to the worldsafers hall, pick a contract to kill monsters or a monster, and then suppress it so hard it died. My team contacts were not always so easy, though. Sometimes I had to deliver things, or capture prisoners. When we did monsters, I killed them with my soul, or when we did humans, I paralyzed them with my soul, then my team would capture them. I went back to the schedule, but doing a thousand contracts a day.

One day, I was late for work, and there were no contracts I was eligible for. I asked what happened, and apparently, I had done most of the contracts. That happened a lot, so I would just tell my team and train all day. We kept the schedule up for two years.

The gold-category said me and my team had to go to an area in a week. I opened a portal in, as my portal ability let me, and we could still go in, as we were in the upper echelons of copper. It was oddly distorting, like when I had first arrived on Glassfay, but less so, as my body hadn’t been destroyed and I was copper category.

We saw some monsters instantly. I killed them with my soul. Ordeath told me there were thirteen bronze-category lunatics led by a silver-category.

I summoned my rainbow flask and put some generator runes in it. It could now rebuild broken parts quickly on its own. We started killing monsters very quickly, sleeping in my rainbow house. My soul house was a backup that could serve as an inventory. I also had god-like power there. There were nights where we could sense silver-category monsters outside, and because we couldn’t fight them off with the rainbow house’s defenses until bronze-category, we slept in my soul house if they had gold-category soul strength. The rainbow stuff felt like cotton compared to cotton, so everyone preferred it. We had to live off coins, only eating a tiny amount every day. The rations of food I brought were mostly for when someone reached a higher category. Bob was closest. I was not far behind him, and Aryav was kind of far.

I passed out.

***

Arjun fainted as he was suppressing a lone mob. I wondered what happened, but it was not a time to wonder. Luckily, Aryav had a power he could use, as it was bronze-category and I didn’t have it, as I was more of a tank. He said, “I am law and I sentence you to death.” He had to channel so much mana he fainted. Luckily, Arjun’s house was there. I teleported both of them and myself inside. I knew Arjun had a medicine cabinet somewhere.

I found it after a few desperate minutes. I teleported both Arjun and Aryav there and healed them.

***

I woke up groggily. I saw Bob standing over me. I was in one of the beds in the medical room. “What happened?” I asked. Bob told me about how I passed out when suppressing a monster. Aryav had killed it, so I checked the system messages that came up.

That explained it. I had heard stories about people who had done this sort of thing. It was a very traumatizing process.

We had been fighting monsters nonstop for the last two months. My soul strength was gold six, and I sensed a pack of silver-category monsters.

I then found a huge limitation to this power. My dimensional powers, such as portals, were disabled. One spontaneously combusted, killing all but one of the monsters. “I am law and I sentence you to death.” Said Aryav. All his mana was gone, so Bob teleported him inside. “Your luck’s fate is to suffer. You will die. Mine is the judgment and the judgment is death or life. Death. Ice from the outside is nothing, so ice from within shall arise.” Bob arrived, and with his new template ability, afflicted death, he killed the monster, also passing out. Well, putting the monster on one health, after which I beheaded it.

I put them both in the medical room and gave them both something for low mana. I then collected the drops from the monster, and I got something good.

It was a new template ability. The reading was blurred until I did some unknown thing.

They both woke up, and while they were sleeping, I got a new room. It was a portal room. It had ten squares for arrivals, ten squares for departures, and fifty squares set into the walls. It also had three arrival and three departure squares I couldn’t use yet, and ten fast-travel squares I couldn’t use yet. I unlocked them at bronze-category. I put a portal to Magicspestone and here in some of those slots. They then woke up.

We kept trying to find the lunatics for the next month. I then found out what the template ability did. I could tame a monster, but only one. We ran into a guardian of death, a gold-category monster. I used the template ability on it. I then got some new portal frames and squares. I opened one more portal to my soul house.

Ordeath told us that some of the bronze-category lunatics had reached silver category and the silver-category lunatic had reached gold. It was an extremely worrying moment, as a competent person could kill a monster one category ahead of them.

We went on killing monsters for the next month or so. It was easy, having a gold-category on our side. We then ran into the first lunatic.

The lunatic was luckily, only bronze-category. I said, “Suffer the cost of a lifetime.” Aryav finished him off with his spell, “I am law and I sentence you to death.” What Ordeath had told us is that two lunatics were lone scouts, the gold-category was the leader, and the rest traveled around in squads of four bronze-categories led by a silver category. We were lucky to have only encountered a scout, as a squad could easily kill us. We kept going for the next month, after which, on Earth, the coronavirus started.

Apparently, in some city in China called Wuhan, some fool ate a raw bat that happened to be carrying some respiratory virus mankind had never encountered before called COVI-SARS-2, that happened to be the cause of a disease called COVID-19. Me and Aryav could probably do something, but only if we got back to Earth. We kept going for about a month.

Aryav had already reached bronze, due to having five less powers than normal, and Bob and I were so close to bronze we could taste it. Then, on February first, 2020, it happened. We reached bronze.

I only then realized a power at level zero was a placeholder. We had the gunk shoot out. We just used the substance. I could now run through the desert at a hundred kilometers per hour for eight hours while lifting eight hundred pounds, which was my max. I could jump a kilometer. I could now get my powers to silver. I decided we would complete the contract before going home.

We did more of the contract until March first, when we killed the other scout.

We did more of the contract until the third. We then encountered a squad. I summoned me pefighs. I pulled up my cloak. I set the entire battleground on cleansing fire. I then said in the voice chat, “Combat Strategy 4XT, Branch HT5SBBBBSLB.” I started teleporting from Shadeath body to Shadeath body, and each Shadeath body was strategically positioned.

Aryav was in his armor, fighting the leader with my gold-category tamed mob. Bob was defending against the mobs, while I afflicted them. Ordeath served as a ranged attacker, shooting beams of damage at them. Abjwe helped anyone who needed help. “You will die.” I said, killing one. I saved my judgment spell, as it was not only a doom spell, but if you replaced the, “Death,” part with, “Life,” it could be a powerful healing spell. At gold-category it could resurrect someone.

“Rot away, dead body. Bleed to death. Suffer the cost of a lifetime. Freeze, bloodless one. Suffer the cost of a lifetime. You will forget all with Alzheimer's. Sweet sleep of death, come forth.”

“Why is this as boring as the first fifteen minutes of Dangal?” I asked. “Why are your mouths as dry as the climate in most of Lagaan?” “Will I get a gun or will I not need it like in Little Singham?” “Shut up,” Said the silver-category. “Hey, I thought I got to do the monologue,” I said.

My butterflies had afflicted everyone, so, on the voice chat, I said, “Phase B.” I summoned my dagger and started making small cuts on them.

I kept making small cuts on them, teleporting away, teleporting to my next victim, and did the same thing. I did that until they were bloody all over, after which I said on the voice chat, “Phase C.”

I changed to my sword after I announced we were on phase C, and started attacking like phase B, but in the weak points, and with a sword. We then killed all but the leader, after which, I announced, “Phase D.”

We all attacked the leader, who was overwhelmed by 8 bronze-category pefighs, 1 gold-category monster, and 3 bronze categories. He was dead within a minute.

We ran a simulation of Combat Strategy 7YN, Branch HT5SBBBBSLB, which was the only other feasible plan against a squad, and Combat Strategy 4XT, Branch HT5SBBBBSLB was way better.

We did the same thing as last time, when we faced another squad on the fifth.

On the seventh, we fought the final battle. I said on the voice chat, “Combat Strategy 2LG, Branch GCWGA1.” I, Ordeath, and Aryav were behind Bob, who was the defender, and the attackers who went behind his head were Abjwe and the gold-category monster. Shadeath was one step away from me, and the other two bodies were in strategic locations for me to teleport to. My rainbow house was behind the battle. It had wheels, as an escape mechanism. I kept one Ordeath inside me.

“Why is this as boring as the first fifteen minutes of Dangal?” I asked. “Why are your mouths as dry as the climate in most of Lagaan?” “Will I get a gun or will I not need it like in Little Singham?” “Shut up,'' said the gold-category. “Hey, I thought I got to do the monologue,” I said. “By the way, your hands are made out of crap. I thought I got to kill your lunatics with my afflictions, noob.” He turned red with rage. He attacked me with a gold-category arrow, but I teleported away, then I teleported back and grabbed the arrow.

“Hahahahahaha,” I said. “You're a total noob.” We did that a few more times, and then I shot one at him. My bow was bad, so he caught it in midair. I did five arrows at once, and a couple landed.

We fought, with me piling afflictions, for a few hours. I must've got a few thousand afflictions in. It was uber-tense. It was taking a huge toll on our team, when Aryav used a transcendent blast. The monster got onto very low health. My afflictions finished it off in a few minutes.

There was a huge celebration, after which we all went into my portal room and went to Magicspestone.

I opened a portal to Earth. I had to give a report to the Worldsafers. I then left a note for Aryav. It was March eleventh, 2020. The day the pandemic began. The note said:

Hi, Aryav. I’m going through this portal. It goes home. There’s a new virus at home. Doom told his grandfather, who looked into the future, and told us it would become a pandemic today. By the way,

I also put a rickroll in after the "By the way."

I thought it was uber-funny. I stepped through the portal.

I noticed all of them had gone up to the nearest whole above it. I started flying through space.

As a jade-category, looking back on it, this was a small amount of time, through all those aeons. Three years. I'm getting close to a billion years old, just a few eons short. Three years is not a long time in the scope of things that has happened. Yet, those three years were a foundation for all that came in the aeons after.

Currently, I'm looking through the window at Magicspestone as I wait for my pen to charge up some energy, from my small study, perched on a mountain a few hundred kilometers away. A billion years ago, it was a small town, barely large enough for a Worldsafer branch. Now, it is a bustling metropolis, the capital of Singhstan. In the peaceful, forested mountains, I, the king of Singhstan, sit in the small study, listening to the birds chirp, the light breeze, the leaves ruffling, the sound of the distant ocean, the river flowing.

Over the last few aeons, life has been very peaceful. The prophecy isn't bothering me right now. As the river flows while there is a soft breeze and the birds chirping, it creates a peaceful atmosphere. It is so peaceful that I have spent the last four eons in this small domicile, just meditating-and now writing this memoir.

As I watch Magicspestone grow, I think of my youth. The first few aeons of my life. I know that my main purpose has been fulfilled.

I'm slowly approaching on godly-category, which I will forfeit, for exploration. I have already seen most of the galaxy, but I have only seen about a tenth of the sector. I have seen most of the sect, but who knows what boundless treasures there are in a sector? Singhstan already occupies most of the sect, which includes Earth. All the countries of Earth from the first few eons of my life are gone, as Earth is part of Singhstan.

As I see the havoc I have unleashed, I always wonder: was there another way? I have already reached the money required to reach jade-category from non-combat affairs. Often, as I watch new Worldsafers, I remember when I was young. They never get as greatly powerful as me, which makes me feel guilty.

After I finish this memoir, I will take a break from writing to meet the kingdom. I have a lot of unpublished chapters, so don't worry about new chapters not coming out. I haven't seen them in aeons, I wonder how it has changed. Singhstan is one of the five largest powers on Glassfay. Glassfay is the converging point of the sector, which means every kingdom's Glassfay point is to the side of the kingdom, which means all the other four powers are in a different sect.

As I was checking what other people were thinking with my jade-category powers for other points of view, I realized something disturbing. Most people wanted to live. People that I killed. It is really hard to have all that weight on yourself.

The road to jade-category is paved with blood. Blood of real organisims. Everyone paves their own road, and gathers the material. To pave the road is hard, and harder still with the guilt. I do not think people should try to pave the road, but become normal. We have enough combatants. We need other people. You can reach jade-category without violence.

With the desert next to Magicspestone past the foothills, which have the hedge maze I first woke up in, the forest on the mountains, the river flowing from the summit, the beach on the other side of the mountains, and a small lake near my small home, it is utterly peaceful. I watch as a hamster barrels at a silver-category who is walking through hedge maze. The hamster grew wings. I think it is time to leave, if only to deal with the hamster.

I left the study and jumped down, crushing the hamster. I then teleported to Magicspestone.

It is hard to remember the way someone who is a kid, or even a million years old thinks, which has been hard of late.
