《Hedonia the Arcane Utopia (LitRPG)》Chapter 152 - Playing around.

The fact that the Glaive didn’t kill the superiors would probably be unsettling for most people. But James never reacted to things like a normal person.
Instead, he was smiling from ear to ear.
“Finally, a challenge! I was getting so bored, you guys have no idea.” He told the agents as they were leaping towards him.
He slashed again, this time focusing on a single agent, rather than trying to cut multiple of them at once.
Before he could even close his eyes, blood squirted into them from the agent that got sliced cleanly in half.
“All right, so maybe I am overpowered after all.” He grinned as he wiped the blood off. “All right, so you guys aren’t immortal after all. One down, a hundred and ninety-nine to go.”
But now that he realized they weren’t actually all that tough, he immediately became bored again. The thought of slowly slicing 200 of them in half became as boring as just blowing them to bits with the Javelins.
He didn’t know whether to be happy or sad. On the one hand, he was as overpowered as he thought he was. On the other hand, this was quite dull. And he needed this battle to last a lot longer, otherwise there wouldn’t be many opportunities for the stalkers to finally show themselves.
“Let’s see how many Javelins I need to take down one of you bastards.” James decided to at least use this opportunity to play a small game and test the limits of his Javelins.
He was surrounded by dozens of superiors who were stabbing at his barrier, but he wasn’t paying them much attention. The barrier began to crack a bit, but then he just activated SARM and began dodging.
He launched a Javelin at one of them. The agent screamed in pain, the barrier that was protecting the agent immediately shattering, allowing the Javelin to melt a part of his chest.

But unlike most of James’s targets, he was still alive.
“Wow, I can’t remember the last time someone didn’t die from my Javelins in one hit. Congratulations, you won a prize!” James said as he sent another Javelin flying, which went right through the agent, leaving a gaping hole in his chest. “I hope you enjoyed your prize!”
The Javelins did confirm that he was indeed overpowered, but he hadn’t learned much. “Anyway, two Javelins per one of you? That’s not too bad. Still boring though.”
Before he could conjure another Javelin, he felt the strange energy fluctuation coming from the leader getting even stronger. But then it concealed itself again.
He thought it was weird that the strongest of them all wasn’t attacking him. James wasn’t stupid, he knew that could only mean that an even stronger attack was being prepared. And the longer James waited, the more powerful the attack would be.
But James had no intention of interrupting it. For a while he thought that this encounter would be exciting, but it was just as boring as the other ones. Even though he had a bunch of stalkers to worry about, he also wanted to feel alive.
And maybe this was the opportunity to have some fun.
But more importantly, the more time he spent in battle, the more likely it would be that whoever is stalking the group would finally make their move. He had more mana than he could even measure, he could afford to waste it by playing around, if it meant the stalkers would show themselves.
“All right, I’ll do you all a favor. I won’t use Chaos magic anymore, it’s too strong and boring.” He could probably wipe them all out right now if he used Chaos Flower. But what was the point of living in a world with magic and levels, if you just keep using the same stuff over and over. He had been focused on progressing as fast as possible for so long, it was time to have some fun.

He remembered having this exact same dilemma when he was playing video games. Following the meta and copying a good build from the internet was guaranteed to be very effective. But that got boring pretty fast. The real fun was in the off-meta builds, just screwing around and trying to stumble upon something powerful without any guide whatsoever.
So he decided to just wing it.
James waved his hands and conjured the first thing that came to mind.
Saws.
With a single wave of his hands, hundreds of saws were spawned. In mere seconds, there were already thousands flying around.
They rushed towards the agents, dozens of saws buzzing around every agent.
“They’re so beautiful!” James cried out. “I used to use you guys all the time, and yet I had almost forgotten about you.”
Even though the saws weren’t nearly as powerful as his Javelins, the sight was very nostalgic for James. His saws had gotten him through a lot of hard times.
Even though he had almost forgotten about his saws, his body certainly remembered them. He didn’t even need to think, he waved his hands and the first thing that popped into his mind were the saws.
And they were beautiful. The agents were destroying them with no more than a simple touch. But before they could even touch all the saws that were attacking them, they had to endure several hits.
They didn’t do much damage either. Nothing more than what a good punch could accomplish.
But unlike fists, James had an unlimited number of saws. And he was going to have fun with it.
He began waving his hands over and over, to the point that for every saw an agent destroyed, three more would take its place.
The superiors were desperately throwing around their spells, waves of Darkness were melting thousands of saws at a time. But no matter how many they destroyed, they just kept coming.
Even though all his spells required quite a bit of mana, James had fixed his mana problems long ago. At this point, he had so much mana he could probably just suffocate all of them by just replacing all the air with mana. But that was no fun either.
Instead, he decided to see just how many saws he could spawn at one time. He immediately sacrificed 30 times. But what should’ve been a face distorted in pain, was now an uncontrollable grin. All those sacrifices at the cost of nothing, he didn’t even cough blood!
It was weird to even call it a sacrifice at this point, he wasn’t actually sacrificing anything anymore. It was basically just an enormous buff with no cost, even though he knew there was some kind of limit to it.
Actually, the mere fact that it wasn’t a permanent effect, and he had to keep casting the sacrifices to activate [Reckless Abandon], was enough of a cost to him. Even in video games, he hated having to press too many buttons.
It would be sweet if he could just permanently be in a state of [Reckless Abandon], but he wasn’t complaining either. It was an enormous buff at no cost. And he couldn’t wait to see just how far he could push it.
