《The Midnight Man》Chapter 8 - Mask

Cindy watched in horror as The Midnight Man pulled out a sharp knife that sparkled in the moonlight. The Midnight Man grabbed Kirk around his neck with his free hand.
"Now, Kirk, this is not your punishment. It's Cindy's. But doing something like this to her will be less painful than her watching this happen to you..." The Midnight Man calmly said, "And because it's her punishment, I will knock you unconscious before I continue so that you don't feel any pain."
"I don't think that's how pain wo-" All Kirk could do was watch in horror as he saw the knife get lifted to his head before The Midnight Man squeezed his throat so hard he fell unconscious from lack of air. After that, all Kirk saw was darkness.
The Midnight Man held Kirk by his hair as he gently pressed the cold knife against Kirk's pale skin, causing a small trail of blood to come oozing out. The Midnight Man then applied more pressure as he slid the knife around Kirk's neck. A giant river of blood poured from Kirk's neck as The Midnight Man completed the circle, as Kirk's body fell to the ground. Cindy cried as The Midnight Man laughed as he held Kirk's de-capitated head high in the air. He waved it around in victory before raising the knife again...
The Midnight Man pulled Kirk's brain out of his head before gouging his eyes and then scooping all the mush and blood from his head. Cindy gasped as The Midnight Man threw the insides of Kirk's head to the floor, forming a puddle of blood and mush. Cindy screamed when The Midnight Man threw Kirk's empty head onto the floor in front of her.
"Put it on," He said with a mad grin

"Excuse me!?" Cindy shouted, confused
"You heard me. Put it on,"
"How?" Cindy asked through tears
"Like a mask," He replied coldly. Cindy was petrified. He wanted her to wear her dead husband's hollowed-out head like... a mask? Even the thought of doing such a thing made her burst into tears, but having to do it? That was a million times worse.
"Well, go on. Do it, now!" The Midnight Man shouted. Cindy hesitantly picked up the skin mask and pushed her head inside it. Cindy's vision became blurred because of the salty tears as the The Midnight Man's laughter echoed through the dark halls. After a few minutes of everyone sitting there in shock, The Midnight Man finally spoke,
"Ok, I think you've worn that for enough time. Now, that punishment was one of the easiest ones to endure, so if I were you, Cindy Golbach, I wouldn't step out of line again," He said. Cindy just nodded, too shocked to move.
"Good," He said. Then walked away, followed by his guards. "Get back to your rooms!" He shouted before disappearing behind a corner. Cindy ripped the monstrosity from her head and ran back to her room, head in her hands. She didn't want to talk to anyone. S he couldn't.
