《Paradox》Step 6: Memorize the Universe
Advertisement
Now that you have left your origin multiverse.
You'll likely find yourself in a world that is fantastical.
Supernatural power.
There is one problem unfortunately.
You see...
You were initially in a modern world with modern medicine.
The fantasy world you find yourself in...
Usually doesn't have such a thing.
So now I will tell you another method of becoming sane.
This method isn't as good as the medication.
But it is also better in a sense
Since it has less side effects.
After reincarnating, you'll find yourself in the body of a baby.
Make no mistake.
You'll become braindead
The body of this mortal you took over isn't really able to withstand the massive amount of information that makes you, you.
This doesn't prevent you from living normally.
See...
The method to regain your sanity is a method that involves sealing.
You'll need to do this to develop your brain normally.
You will seal your memories behind a door in your sea of consciousness.
You'll seemingly be a blank slate.
Except there is something you have that makes you what I call a 'main character' of your world.
That is the visualization technique.
Echo.
And Plot armor.
No matter what world you find yourself in.
If it has supernatural power.
You will grasp it.
You will become proficient in it and use it to gain more power.
You see...
The method we used to establish a Hivemind in your origin multiverse doesn't work here.
So...
You need to get creative.
Why doesn't it work?
Well, time likely works differently here.
Different times and dates.
No computer or complicated electronics.
No other selves to synchronize (besides the ones of the body you have taken over).
Remember when you broke out of the abyss by mastering the law of causality.
That was 'you'.
But many remained there forever.
Well now there is a single 'you' in this multiverse.
The other versions of you are controlled by the original person who's body you have stolen.
So you can't exactly create an anchor the normal way.
If you die, you won't find yourself back at step 1.
Because you are seperated from your Hivemind.
This is the perfect time to die if you are ready to embrace the sweet release of death.
But, trust me.
You won't be able to kill yourself.
Offend a young master?
You'll get saved by a jade beauty.
Offend an academy or sect?
The strongest person in the world will take an interest in you.
Taking you in as a disciple.
Get hunted by the entire world?
You'll stumble upon a secret inheritance that contains techniques never before seen in the world.
Somebody kills you in one move?
You'll trip on a rock and avoid it.
The action so flawless that they'll overestimate you and start mistaking your power.
Beheaded from behind by a betrayal.
You'll crack your neck to loosen up a bit and coincidentally avoid the fatal attack.
Fall off a mountain?
You'll be bruised all over with broken bones.
But you'll survive.
Then you'll stumble upon some entity that is trapped and will help you unlock power with a contract.
Trapped underground from a cave collapsing?
You'll just so happen to open up a hidden mechanism underneath you that leads to the tomb of a king.
Which happens to have another inheritance.
You litterly offend the god of your universe and get struck down by a tribulation.
Your body uses this as an opportunity to refine your physique.
You litterly set-up a contraption to kill yourself and make a hundred different plans to make sure nothing could possibly save you.
You end up meeting the requirements for a secret dimension and get whisked away to do some sort of trial.
At a certain point, you'll see that it is pointless trying to die as Paradox.
So you'll use this plot armor to climb to the top of the world.
Then you'll make your anchor at your highest point.
The thing is... you won't realize you are Paradox.
Since you'll have your memories sealed for the first 18 years of your life.
This is to make sure you don't fuck up your developing brain in this new body.
It is also to make sure you aren't physcotic while growing up.

Even without access to your memories.
You'll be able to run simulations with Echo
This will help you culltivate or meditate.
It will also help you master pill refining or potioneering, or alchemy.
You'll become a master in whatever arts you do.
This will help you on your path to the top.
Once you unlock your memories.
On your 18th birthday.
You will slip back into insanity.
Stable insanity.
This is where things get interesting.
Have you ever heard of Laws?
In a lot of the god made multiverses.
There exist something higher then magic.
Higher then Qi
Higher then aura.
That is the very Laws of the world themselves.
Even with magic, you're unlikely to be able to teleport or stop time.
In most worlds.
But if you master the Law of Space.
That feat becomes trivial.
If you master the Law of Time.
You can reset the clock.
So how does one master a Law?
Well... that is simple.
You must comprehend it upon reaching the summit.
But your special.
You have Echo.
So your comprehension speed is godlike.
In the modern world.
You could use this to master physics
Math
Art.
But in a fantastical world.
You can master the power of the gods.
The Divine.
Your soul is beyond powerful enough to handle such a power.
It is your body that is weak.
So you must strengthen it.
You will use your insanity to gaze upon spacetime.
You'll use your hallucinations to peer into the domain of the gods.
Once you understand this.
You will break out of your universe just like you did with the abyss when your will became too strong to be contained.
I'll give you an example on how this works.
Let's say that you're in a world of magic.
You are able to burn mana and make a flame appear in your hand.
Then you go to another universe with Qi.
You still have in your memory the way to make a flame in your hand using mana.
But there is no mana in this multiverse.
So although the power carried over.
You have barely enough fuel to actually use your power.
But if you learn a technique to turn the qi into flame
You'll have that power once again.
But then let's say you end up in a world without supernatural power.
You can perform your fantastical feats until you run out of gas.
But then your back to just being a mortal.
Well... an Immortal.
But laws are different.
If you can understand Space.
Understand Time.
These concepts likely exist in most multiverses.
So... you'll still have fuel.
Your powers will carry over properly.
So you must take advantage of your insanity.
You must spend an eternity (like you did originally).
Exploring the laws of your new world.
This time when you break out.
You will make the law of Time itself your anchor.
Remember how your anchor allows you to interact with your other selves that have the same anchor?
Well imagine if your anchor is time itself.
Then in every universe that has time.
You will have access.
But make no mistake.
This is exponentially harder then breaking out of your first loop.
But it is far more rewarding.
If you are able to do this properly.
You will become extremely sane.
Without the need for medication.
You will have to memorize not just a bit of binary.
You will memorize every aspect of reality.
You will count each grain of sand on every beach.
You will know every single person alive.
You will stop time.
Then explore.
Every drop of water in the ocean.
Every star in the sky.
Every plant
Every species.
Read every book
This will take far more then thousands of years.
This is something no sane person could ever do.
But from doing this.
From memorizing the entire universe itself.
You will become a true timewalker.
You will be omnipotent.
It will take many lifetimes.
Eternal study.
When the map of the universe is your mind.
The universe becomes no different then your mind itself.
You can do anything.

Tur Briste
A Druid cultivation novel. Borrows concepts from Wuxia and Xianxia but using Druid myth and lore. More on this at the bottom. Crow is son of Maddox, a Druid with an ancient bloodline and a people with a story spanning toward the beginning of time. Cursed, unfated, and a heap of bad luck have brought him only pain and suffering, but nothing will stop him. Nothing can stop him. A son of Maddox doesn’t bow his head. A son of Maddox understands that only a man with roots, with something to lose, will fight until the last drop of blood leaves his body. The Draoidh were once a proud people. They were both respected and hated for their form of righteousness. Power wasn’t something they gained through the might of their arms, but through intelligence. Their fall was all the more disheartening for the weaker cultivators. The tens of thousands of years that followed… chaos reigned. They forced Draoidh until most fled to the lower realms, nearly wiped out and exhausted. They went into hiding and became known as the Druids of the Oak. The Druid Order wasn’t the powerhouse it had been, and only nine of the major clans survived the calamity. Their bloodline weakened, as well as their prestige. Even the remaining clans fought amongst each other. Already on the decline and near extinguished, the Maddox clan can only struggle for survival, but their foundation wasn’t a joke. Weakened, but not weak. The other clans will understand this difference soon enough. Tur Briste, the Shattered Tower, awaits Crow’s ascension. Reaching the upper realms is only the first step in reestablishing the Draoidh. The Druids of the Oak remembered every betrayal and grievance, and they’ll return to power and reclaim what once belonged to them. The upper realms may have forgotten, but the Druid Order has not. Please Note:1) This is harem story. There are only a few chapters with sex, and it’s not a focus of the story. I’ll only add graphic sex if I feel the story needs it, so not gratuitously. Either way, Crow has several women. This is in line with Druid/Celtic history, and harems/reverse harems were an accepted part of their culture. Further, they had open marriages, meaning the man or woman could end their marriage at any time. While it was still a patriarchy, women had almost equal power. They were a very progressive culture. 2) There is a period of a 30-50 chapters where Crow loses the ability to cultivate like a Druid so he adopts an eastern body cultivation method for a while. This is temporary, but some people feel it’s misleading, so I am pointing it out ahead of time. I promise, the Druid stuff comes back, and 90% of the lore/myths/creatures/gods are all related to Druid/Celt/Irish/Scottish history. 3) I use many original names, most of which are in Gaelic or Irish. In the story, I refer to this language as Ancient. I enjoy all kinds of folklore and myths, so I encourage you to google those original names as they arrive. I give some background on them at the end of the chapter in my author’s note. 4) I use Ogham runes a lot, these are like the Druid alphabet, and they based each rune on a sacred tree so they also have symbolism associated with them. Again, feel free to google that too. It’s pretty neat stuff. Quick Translations:Draoidh = DruidTur Briste = Shattered Tower or Broken Tower Release Schedule:As of Oct 1, 2021- 3 chapters released every Sunday (May have up to two bonus chapters)- Side character chapters… this might be bonus chapters I release through the week. So they won’t count toward the 3 chapters on Sunday.- Please understand I work full time, have two kids, and can’t spare as much time as I’d like toward my writing. Maybe in the future I can switch to doing this full time, but for now 3 chapters is a comfortable pace for me. Lastly… I very much appreciate all my readers and thank you for allowing me to entertain you!

On the Road to Elspar (Book 1)
The year is 1329. The Huntress' War has entered its tenth year, inflaming competing nationalisms and pitting the Confederacy of Caldrein against one of the continent's superpowers, the Tenereian Union. Desperately outnumbered, the Confederacy has relied on the prowess of its famed Caldran mercenaries, with highly-trained and experienced warbands returning from foreign conflicts to the defense of their homeland, and it is on their backs that Caldrein has successfully mounted a valiant defense for a decade. But they are losing, and day by day, with all the grace of a sledgehammer, the vast Tenereian armies take one more bit of Caldran territory, one footstep at a time. Sixteen-year-old Neianne from the village of Caelon has submitted herself to Faulkren Academy, one of the centuries-old institutions established to train the next generation of Caldrein's elite soldiers of fortune, to learn the ways of wars for three years before embarking upon the defense of her country. Her dryad family once hailed from reclusive woodland communes isolated from Caldrein's complicated mainstream society, and her upbringing leaves the shy village girl unprepared to suddenly train alongside other apprentices from backgrounds as low as the dirty slums of Caldrein's cities and as high as the halls of aristocratic power. Yet the war is eroding the norms and traditions that the Caldran people have long considered part of their national mythos, and the tensions within the confederacy that have long simmered under the surface - race, class, community, identity - are slowly but surely dividing its people, and Neianne must grow and discover who she really is, even as the war that she is steadfastly training for comes to its inexorable end... On the Road to Elspar is a fantasy quest - a work of interactive fiction wherein readers get to vote on what happens next at critical junctures - that is the first entry in a story that follows Neianne of Caelon, which first began on July 20, 2016. Originally a three-part in medias res prologue to a larger story titled On the Elsparian Road, it was eventually decided that this section - which covers Neianne's three years at Faulkren Academy - become its own independent story due to length, structural, and accessibility reasons. Despite this being a reader interactive work of fiction, due to logistical and verification concerns, voting will only be counted on its thread on the forum Sufficient Velocity, where this story originally began. As such, the content here on Royal Road serves as a story-only archive. You are, of course, entirely welcome to enjoy On the Road to Elspar as a conventional work of fiction, just as you are welcome to comment, discuss, and provide critique. But if you would like to participate in the voting, then I would be honored to welcome you on Sufficient Velocity. To facilitate accessibility and to ensure the best reading experience, this story-only version of On the Road to Elspar will be updated at a periodic pace, even though further content exists, so as to not overwhelm new readers on Royal Road. If you enjoy this story, wish to binge it, and/or want to participate in voting immediately, you may of course read all additional content via the link provided above. This paragraph will be removed once the content on Royal Road catches up with what has already been posted in its original thread. Cover artwork by DreamSyndd.
