《Calf the Furless (First Edition)》Interlude II: The Storm

A few seconds into the Extended Rites...
It had all happened too fast. They'd all seen the bouncy and muscular human approach the gazebo. Though all the masters were curious about the interloper, none would risk exposing themselves to Calf's sight and thus they watched the man, lulled by the invisibility the layers of film afforded them. The man wore white markings on half his body and as he got closer to the gazebo, he looked to each of them, meeting their eyes as if he could see through the cover. Alarmed, the Head Archivist and Head of Crafts moved to engage, but the strange man beat them to the punch. He bent at the knees before leaning back and doing a one-legged jig. A fourth film sprung inside their triple-film, thickening at each stamp of the man's rattling foot. The barrier film was like a thick layer of hard glass, and it stopped their attempts at engaging him effortlessly. Done subduing them, he grinned before turning right a few meters from their bubble. Calf appeared in the distance a few seconds later, and when it looked like he would head straight for the gazebo he looked down, tracing something on the floor. All the masters watched helplessly as Calf followed the 'human's' trail.
The barrier film vanished a minute later and the masters, led by the Head of Crafts, rushed after Calf. He was nowhere to be seen and both his and the mysterious man's tracks ended in a tear in space that none of them dared touch. As the masters stood in a daze, the junior archivist ran towards them and politely made his presence known. When the masters turned to him, he presented Calf's organic statuette. The base still glowed red, but in place of the single black band there now stood two slimmer ones. This didn't come as a shock to the masters after seeing the tear. The Extended Rites were now in motion, and all they could do now was to watch the statuette for the prince’s status.
