《Garden of Thorns *Lit RPG*》V2 Chapter 40 : The Baruta Kingdom Conquest.

Vengria was taking on a nearby town, just moving about as he continued wandering the place. A beautiful green meadow. Ruined by the smell of cadavers from the bodies of those that tried to flee. Even farm animals weren't spared. Stained by the sights, Vengria was just walking to take a look into the situation. Using the wind as a means to keep track of the situation. Roughly 200 Hunters on standby, the soldiers with their guns. Citizens locked in their houses.
He was hidden thanks to the wind, just allowing the gentle breeze seep through the town. The wind guides Vengria. Paying attention to whatever that was being muttered on the radio. Seeing the armored vehicles popping up through the streets, while the helicopters were floating above the town. taking in the breeze, sensing the corpses of the people in the center of town. There was a child who was breathing, slowly succumbing to the corpses over her. Poor child's heartbeat was weakening. She might be choking but Vengria had to wait. Faced with that thought, he kept his anger aside. Tranquility is something important to him, and one he must abide at all times.
"Begin the operation!" That was the cue as Vengria kept his blade steady as he walked to the town's entrance.
"Who are you!" They began to fire upon Vengria. Walking towards them, the storm of lead hit him but that did not stop Vengria at all. The wind guides the Auric Rose Knight. The Wandering Rose, the one who bears the Harrowing Winds in his blade. Resting his left hand by the grip, then drawing the blade. Walking close as he sliced through the tanks, his swings brought forth the wind that cut through metal.
"Attack!" Hunters began bombarding him with their magic, helicopters launched their entire set of rockets and missiles. Cannons were fired from the tanks. All of them hit the target. Smoke, dust and even the stones from the road were kicked all around. A second later, the wind had cleared up.
Vengria was still keeping his blade in hand, a deep breath as he ran ahead. Gracefully swinging his blade, as the wind did the damage on them. His focus was to rescue the child. Cutting through the corpses as he pulled the child to his chest.
"Fire!" They kept firing at Vengria. Hoping to put him down. He used his body to shield the child, whose eyes spoke of fear. Terrified by everything. He patted the child's head, as his eyes began glowing gold. The wind stirred violently. The trees were shaking as if they were being uprooted. The Hunters and soldiers felt the ominous wind coming closer. Some of them were sent flying into the air, the Hunters were trying to brace themselves. Some of them were trying to keep themselves grounded. The ground felt unreachable as some began clawing their way to the ground. Reaching to grip whatever that they could. Helicopters began to spin uncontrollably. Tanks were flipping, armored vehicles had their metal parts be torn apart.
The Harrowing Wind. It was going to build the mental stress and physical stress. Stamina being duress, even if the Hunters supplemented it with buff and injecting mana to their bodies.
"Vengria." Silas had called, watching the battle through the entire area.
"Yes, Lord?"
"Is your wind affecting the civilians?"
"No. My control of the wind is right down to the millimeter. I don't like using this because of its destructive nature." Vengria said as he put the child down, leaping upwards as he sheathed his blade. Marking his targets with the blade, then drawing it instantly. Everything that was in the air vanished. As if they had never existed.

Vengria landed on his feet, wiping the blood off his blade with the left hand. The wind stopped stirring, the people opening the doors. Citizens stepped out to see the Progessive Hunters coming out with the army to provide aid. Vengria left without a word. The citizens welcomed the people, the child turned to look for Vengria.
His act of leaving without a word, it was just how he was. The Wanderer. He can't stay still at any place. Moving through the area, keeping his blade sheathed. The green plains around him were nice to see, lush forests to the side with a road in the middle. Walking through the road as the black clouds formed above him. Raining down to his path. Yet not even a single raindrop would touch Vengria. Torrential rain poured down. Vengria paused in his footsteps, looking at the rain quenching the thirst of the trees and the grass. Animals taking refuge beneath the trees from the cold winds of the rainy clouds. Chipmunks and squirrels staying in their little homes as they brace the weather.
Birds trying to keep themselves dry from the heavy rain. Animals moving at every step he took. A loud cry of a cat was heard, Vengria went over to investigate. It may be a war going on, but nature must still proceed as they are. Finding a cat with a bullet in its body, along with the kittens that were crying for their mother. Vengria knelt as he used his magic, to heal the cat. Using words of a forgotten age as the bullet was pulled out and the wounds closed itself.
The cat looked at Vengria, who merely stroked its head for a few seconds. Hearing it purr loudly, the kittens were clawing his cape. The cat would call its kittens back, as Vengria left to venture onwards. Following the path as he found himself on the wreckage of a battlefield. The bodies were cut open. Cadavers all around him, wreckage of armored vehicles and helicopters were present. No survivors, and even if there were. They'd be taken away. Along the path, he found a few items strewn around the area. A worn out teddy bear, with its cotton bursting through the seams. Missing an eye and had a bullet in the chest. A bit of blood on its fur. Scanning the environment for a body to match it to. Yet, nothing came to mind. Just holding the teddy bear brought forth a nostalgic air. One of his days as a child.
One of his days when he was able to give a teddy bear to a child. Sadness crept to his hands as he put the bear down. Finding a dead soldier who held a letter in his cold hard hands. Taking the letter, as he read it. A letter with a content for a lover. Proposing marriage to another man. The harsh reality of war, is that no matter who fights. Everyone will feel the lost. Putting the letter back into the hands. Vengria put a cloth on the ground over the body. Hoping that the intended recipient will be aware and find the letter. A small prayer for the departed.
The corpse of a woman hung by the barrel, hanging upside down. A locket that revealed a portrait of a man. Her tears had been dried up and Vengria beared witness to this. Continuing on as he found the body of a Conservative soldier who had a rifle's bayonet parked into his head. The blood had dried up to the grass. Nutrition for nature, but nature has its ways to clean everything. The damages to the side where Vengria assumes belongs to the Progressives. It wasn't human afflicted. The jagged damage to the tanks, and how the bodies were crushed completely? It seemed like in the middle of that engagement, a beast had taken up a path to bother them all. Or they got unlucky.

Vengria ventured forth. Roars of beasts from up ahead. Loud enough to shatter human eardrums. It may be possible that the beasts were the cause of that battlefield's sudden shift in tone. Stepping forward as a large 10 headed hydra had appeared before him. Opening its mouths as it screeched at Vengria. Vengria merely flicked his thumb to reveal the blade from the sheathe. Within a second, the Hydra was reduced into a bloody mess on the ground. Not even the bones had remained.
"My control is lacking." Vengria whispered to himself as he ventured forth. The blood on the ground shifted away from Vengria, as if it was afraid of him.
Silas who was watching Vengria closely was amazed.
"Raizel. How is he... That strong?"
"The Ancient of Harrowing Winds. That particular Ancient's mastery of wind is incredible but the issue is that the wind's temperament is volatile and destructive. The Auric Rose Knight is the one individual who was able to be given that blessing and muster its devastative power with high control. Tranquility, is the skill that helps keep that wind's temperament contained for maximum control while maintaining its destructive power. I had heard rumors of his control, but to think the Wandering Rose's power was of that extent. Your other Familiars could have dealt with the Hydra without any issues but none can do it in the way that Vengria has done. Ancient Demon of Black may slice a hydra in two. Vizel would be slashing all of its heads but none of them can do it instantaneously. I can see why the Wandering Rose has been regarded as among the most dangerous combatants." Raizel's elaboration was right but maybe due to Vengria's strength he is often approached to become a Rose Knight and only those he chooses to serve are given the opportunity.
Returning back to Vengria who was still continuing on his walk, now walking through the highways. The vast roads ahead of him, the flat green signboards by the sides of the highway indicated the distances between the towns. The closest city was 70 kilometers, quite the distance to cover. There were a number of cars that were parked on the road, perhaps the drivers had left due to the battle arriving to this place. Or the beasts that roam the area. Vengria had some knowledge to use the car, so he went to take a look at the cars. Some had keys while some merely had a keyless device. Checking the fuel tanks to see which ones had the most fuel, as the wind brought up the keys of the nearby cars. One that he found was not for a car but for a motorcycle. It led Vengria to a motorcycle, one that if memory serves is commonly referred as a cruiser.
Fuel tank was at 3 quarters, Vengria got on as he put the key in the ignition. Turning it as he fiddled with the clutch, trying to get the start up properly. Hearing the rumble, Vengria rode on. Not in a rush, just focusing on the beautiful scenery around him. Cruising along the highway as he could see the mountain on the right with the trees that could blanket the mountain's spine. To his left was an entire orchard of palm trees. Ripened fruits that were slowly rotting. Left unattended, it was a sad side.
The cruise on the smooth roads. The sights and the sounds, it would have been nice if he found a radio. Cruising along the road, it was clear of any vehicles but dried blood stains were plentiful. Reaching the outskirts of the city, Vengria stopped to take an assessment. Fortress walls were raised, they were roughly 7 stories high. Perhaps as a way to keep people in and the beasts out. There was a barrier that blanketed the city. Vengria took a deep breath as he went to rest by the branch of an oak tree. Meditating to feel what the wind feels. To see what the wind sees, surrounding this area within a 100 kilometer radius was only the forests. The beasts were nowhere to be seen, perhaps they felt the death of the 10 headed Hydra.
The barrier that was set up wasn't perfect, it had gaps for Vengria's wind to make connection with the air in the city. Peaceful, 2000 Hunters and quite a large number of troops. Roughly a few thousand soldiers, a hundred tanks and maybe 50 helicopters. The citizens seemed at ease here, they were all happy to be part of the Conservative's hold. His wind went into the lungs of a pigeon, granting him its sights. Seeing posters that requested for Princess Marida to abdicate the throne. Then seeing the Hunters who were trying to be at ease but seeing a woman who was glaring at the pigeon he had taken control.
She was clad in armor similar to his design, but her colours were that of fallen leaves. The Rose Knight of Fall, Lucrezia. She launched her spear into the pigeon. Leaping up to catch it.
"Vengria.. I never thought you'd be here. So you're around here then? I guess that Hydra could only be killed by someone as fast as you." Lucrezia grinned as Vengria stopped meditating.
"Lord, I have found a Rose Knight of Fall in the enemy territory."
'Raizel, is it possible to recruit a Rose Knight that is serving another Lord of Thorns?"
"Possible with the right conditions. Firstly you need the Corresponding Ancient to be present. Second, the Rose Knight must be defeated. Third, the Rose Knight must choose to serve. You have the Ancient of Fall but the other two comes from whether Vengria is going to take this fight. The Rose Knight of Fall, or as she known as the Rose of Duels. Is known for her mastery of weapons as a whole. In terms of element, she is Asim's element of Fall. Which also includes earth. No matter how great a wind howls at the mountain, it cannot move it." Raizel commented as Silas was a little worried for Vengria.
"The compatibility of the elements will not be an issue." Vengria said as he looked at Lucrezia standing in front of the city. Vengria stood before her to greet them. Seeing the Hunters and soldiers standing by next to their vehicles.
"Lucrezia." Looking at the Rose Knight of Fall, the Rose of Duels who had a lance in her right hand, a shield in the left and a saber to the left hip.
"Vengria." The two Rose Knights greeted as they held their weapons by the grip. Vengria's left hand reached for a seax blade tucked by his right shoulder. The barrier faded as Lucrezia went with a heavy thrust of her lance. The yellow glow of mana radiated around the tip of the lance, while Vengria stood there, bracing for his opening.
Vengria side stepped at the last second, leaving Lucrezia's arm free for the taking. The seax went through the joint, as Vengria drew the katana to slice Lucrezia's arm off. Kicking her back, as he went to chase after her. Slashing her in half. Vengria shook his head.
"That was not a Rose Knight of Fall, Lord. That was a pale imitation concocted by another being." Vengria announced.
"How could you tell?"
"The Real Rose of Duels would have known my strategy to face her. Her personality with how she spoke was before I met her. The Rose of Duels was in the service of the 15th Lord of Thorns." Vengria said as he put his seax back to his right shoulder. The enemies before Vengria steeled themselves as they watched Vengria sheath his blade. Leaving only an inch of it exposed.
"We can take him! Come on! Attack!" Vengria tapped his grip, to sheathe the blade. The wind alone was enough to lacerate the Hunters all in one go. All of them were on the ground, the tanks had their engines and plating cut while the helicopters weapons were destroyed.
"Leave." Vengria told them as they went on their way to leave the area, Vengria headed into the city. Assessing things on a different level, trying to make sure that the minds of these people were not in danger or even any sort of mind control state. There wasn't anything that said mind control but it was more of. Coercion by fear. Eyes watching him from the shadows, whereby Vengria tapped the hilt of his katana once. The wind sent all of the eyes flying to another location.
"151. I found some interesting people. You may want to see if they know anything. It seems like the entire area is riddled with fear in the air. So the citizens may be forced to say they hate Princess Marida to ensure their safety." Vengria reported as he went inside of a cafe. Vengria's helmet opened up his face plate. Where he made an order for a caramel latte with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles.
"Thank you." Vengria said as he went away with his cup, watching the HDF and the Azteris Troopers making their way here with the Progressive's Army. The citizens greeted their heroes, with the Progressive Hunters going over to find their allies who had been imprisoned. There were other Hunters who were kept alive in the underground tunnels. Left to starve to death, at the very least they'd be safe.
Vengria took the chance to make a move elsewhere.
"Vengria. You seem to be moving quite fast. I was expecting you to not be moving anywhere so quickly."
"I am a Wanderer, and I just enjoy seeing the beauty of everything but at the same time. I cannot afford to waste time due to the nature of our work. I do wish to brutalize the one who made that fake Rose of Fall. It is an insult to the memory of her." Vengria spoke as he sipped on his cup while gliding through the streets with his wind.
Silas was watching all of that while he was in class. Stepping out as Yrvad would be perched on top of his head. Chirping happily as Silas scratched its lower neck. Jenny, Nora and Caroline were hanging around him. When they headed for lunch, the others watched as faeries flew to Silas.
"How come the faeries like you so much, Silas?" Nora asked as she watched Fluffy leap on Silas's face.
"Fluffy! You can't do that!" Fluffy climbed over where Yrvad welcomed Fluffy with a scratch to the abdomen. A faery which was a humming bird was flying close to Silas's hand, followed by a sparrow that began hopping its way to Silas. Tilting its head to look at him. Silas couldn't eat his lunch in peace, turning to the right where he could see the familiars of other Hunters keeping their distance from him. Yuliana and Serena were seen with a lunchbox.
"Oh who is that?" Yuliana was getting all the attention, her all white hair and lovely amethyst eyes. Walking over to Silas.
"Hello."
"Ah, Maiden!" Jenny stood to greet her, Yuliana chuckled as they see her put the lunchbox for Silas.
"Silas.. This is your lunchbox. I tried my best." Silas opened it up, seeing a lovely set of rolled omelettes, rice and a carp fillet with teriyaki sauce.
"Thank you, Yuliana."
"I had heard from your grandfather, that it is customary for the fiancee to cook for her partner." That revelation alone had sparked glares at Silas. Nora seemed defeated, Caroline looked amazed at the development while Jenny seemed to have fuel for her to tease Silas later on. Xiao who was seated beside Silas did not seem to be bothered by anything as he was enjoying his cup of juice.
"Ah, you told him." Yuliana wasn't a schemer but she was following the Albert Sylvanus from before.
"I had trouble making it, but your grandfather and Alex said this was your favourite." It was a sweet gesture as Silas took a few bites.
"Serena. Seems like you have your hands full."
"I serve the Maiden. And I do my best to fulfill it... Even if she made a mess..."
"Serena!" Serena was teasing Yuliana, seeing Yuliana pout and be embarrassed was adorable. Lopt made his way out of nowhere.
"Oh, Ancient Lopt!" Yuliana and Serena greeted Lopt who just patted their heads.
"Seems like it's quite lively here." The Familiars that were within Lopt's lineage knelt before him.
"Hey, Familiars. Don't kneel to me. This is just a friendly visit." Lopt said as he went over to look at Jenny.
"Student Council President. Uses a Saber. Hmm.. I'm only here because 151 is busy with another matter. So I will be taking over swordsmanship training." Lopt said as he took off his mask, revealing the handsome figure that was similar to Rayland in a way. Only instead of a revolver, it's a katana.
"Serena. Do join me in training them. Yuliana, please enjoy yourself by your fiancee's side." Lopt also joined in teasing Silas as Yuliana nodded while Serena bowed. The class was going to happen in an hour or two.
Might be worth the time to enjoy the chaos that is Lopt and his Knight.
