“So, Hades, what do you think this is all about? It's not often that Ruin calls us all together like this. Must be something important.”

The speaker was a tall man in a well-tailored suit and top hat. Dark skin with a skull pattern on his face, a cane in his hand and a spring in his step as he walked beside a towering man in a toga. This man's face was covered by a helmet, and he carried a bident in his hand.

“She will tell us when we arrive Baron and not a second before.” Hades replied.

“Come now Hades live a little! You're starting to become as dull and predictable as that hole you stand guard over.” Baron Samedi said.

“If you consider doing your job to the best of your ability dull and predictable then I am guilty. But remember none who have been sent to Tartarus have escaped on my watch.”

Baron Samedi takes a moment to think about what Hades had said before responding. “How's Persephone doing?”

Hades perked up from the question and eagerly answered. “She's fine, how's Madame Brigitte?”

“She’s fine as well. I just wish she would give up on trying to get rid of my cigars. Hahahah they're part of who I am.”

A quick smile passed Hades’ face at Baron’s self-targeted humor then was gone as they finally arrived before the throne room gates and its guards. On each side of the gates were hulking creatures of putrid flesh, blackened bones, and ethereal blue flame. Baron Samedi and Hades stopped and awaited the guards' instructions. Though both Hades and Baron Samedi are gods they know better than to start a fight in another gods domain.

“Follow.” The hulk on the right said as the one on the left pushed open the doors.

As they entered the throne room behind the guard he stopped and knelt. “Ruin First of the Damned, may I present to you Hades King of the Underworld, God of the Dead and Riches, and Baron Samedi Loa of the Dead and Fertility.”

Sitting atop an obsidian throne in the back of the room was Ruin. She wore a strapless white dress that went to her bare feet. A wicked scythe lay across her lap and her face held no expression; her lips set in a line.

“Hades, Baron, welcome you two are the last to arrive. Come in please take a seat.” Ruin said voice barely a whisper, yet it carried in this room.

As Hades and Baron Samedi moved to take their seats, they took notice of the others in attendance. Hel the Norse God of Death, Anubis the jackal headed Egyptian God of Death, the horrible Ah Puch the Mayan God of Death, and Yama the Hindu God of Death to name a few of the attendees.

“Now I’m sure all of you wonder why I have called this meeting?” Ruin asked and received several affirmations from the surrounding gods. “I have called you all here to celebrate our day together. Though I’m not usually one for any type of social gathering, not even the ones from my pantheon. I’m trying to better understand others, and I believe that I should start with the gods who owe fealty to me. So let us feast and make merry for this day belongs to us. What do all of you say?”

With one voice the assembled gods, goddesses, spirits, and more shouted “LONG LIVE DEATH, LONG LIVE RUIN!”
