《Fragments of Time ( A Disney Twisted Wonderland x OC story) Book I》6.7 - Remnants of the Past

The five girls stood still looking at each other from across the room. Felicity, Rebecca, Evelyn and Odette all looked at Charlie in happiness, but Charlie was more gobsmacked then anything. She thought she was dreaming. Her friend couldn't be here! They....they had to have been back in their world; HER world!
So...why were they here?!
She slowly looked over at each girl in turn, and soon, what they were wearing. They all wore clothing with the same colors as she had right now in her battle form: purple and green with turquoise. But each were uniquely styled in different ways than hers. As was their hair.
"H-How...how are you-?!"
"We know you have a lot of Questions." Odette assured her gently. "And we'll be glad to answer them all. But if you still have doubts, we can assure you: we're here. It's really us! We're not figments of your imagination or spies sent by someone!"
Felicity took the time to slowly approach her, gestation in her usual spunky persona, which Charlie was actually surprised by. If she knew anything about the blonde of the group, she was always someone who had no fear inside of her....
Before she knew it, her hands were taken by Liccy's. And raise so they could meet at equal eye.
"Charlie....you haven't forgotten us....have you?"
Charlie's face grew scared. "No, no! I-I mean...there's so much that's been happening, I....I had been so caught up in the moment....I just wish I could've had my family or friends with me to experience all this, and now....just taking about it....makes me realize....how much I really...really miss home..." she finally looked at Felicity in the eye and didn't realize it, but tears began to fall, which Felicity mirrored back. "And if you guys being here means something then....then maybe...!" She couldn't finish her sentence as the two girls embraced.
The other three took it upon themselves to run to Charlie and join the hug just as Charlie's tearful cries left her lips.
Sol felt herself tearing up as Luna gave a warm smile, watching the reunion unfold.
"I miss you girls so fucking much!!"
"So did we, Char..." Felicity smiled sadly as the others chorused her and comforted her, letting her cries dwindle til she was calm.
"Okay...now I need to know....how did you girls get here...?" Charlie asked, wiping her nose with a tissue, handed to her by Rook of course (Thank god he didn't comment on their reunion. Charlie would've knocked his teeth out if he or anyone else spoke one word. Cut the girl some slack! She's been without her bffs for almost an entire fucking year!!)
"Oh yeah...Someone named, Eos was it? He brought us here." Rebecca answers. The air halted almost instantly.
[There should be a GIF or video here. Update the app now to see it.]
"Eos?! The guy in the mirror?!" Epel jumped in instantly.
"How'd he reach you?!" Rook asked.
"Well, that's the thing...." Felicity began. "So, we were coming to check up on you at your Aunt's house...."
—flashback-
Four bodies walked up the pathway to the old house, as a car parked on the side of the road pulled away, looking up at the aesthetic it seemed to be radiating quite nicely.
"This is the address, right...?" Odette looked up at the house a tad skeptical.
"I double checked her address book. It's the one!" Felicity nodded surely.

"Honestly, coming to be with Charlie for a few days was a good idea." Rebecca smiled. "We know she needs space, but we're sisters and sisters look out for one another!"
"I hope her aunt doesn't mind us staying for a few nights on short notice..." Evelyn bit her lower lip as they made their way to the front door. Felicity stepped up towards the front door and pressed the doorbell button. She waited a few seconds before trying again. But no one answered. This made her scratch her head.
"Did Aunt Sam...go out?"
"Her car's gone."
"But she did say Charlie was at the house!"
"Let's try texting her!"
Felicity nods and sent a message to Charlie. But the strangest thing was, as soon as she sent it, a small window popped up on her screen saying in large writing:
"Uh....." the blonde winced as she looked to the others. "Maybe you guys try her number. I can't reach her." The other three did so, and yet to their surprise, they also got the same message, making their confusion go higher.
"Okay, something's not right...usually our messages go through!" Odette began.
"Maybe she shut off her phone?" Evelyn was skeptical when she asked.
"Likely, but if she did, then we wouldn't be getting this Error message." Rebecca countered. "Even calling may not work. It'll just go to voicemail or something..."
"Yknow what? Fuck it! We're going inside!" Felicity scoffs and going towards what looked to be an outdoor cover socket for electrical outlets, she lifted it up and inside was a set of keys. The others were a tad surprised.
"How did you-?!"
"I've my secrets~." Felicity winks and taking the key, she quickly unlocks the door, getting it open. Without question, she and the girls stormed in but to their surprise, the house was empty.
"Huh....weird." Felicity quips. "Split up. We'll cover more ground that way. Yell if you've found Charlie." The others nod and take off, placing their verbiage bags by the door. Felicity, ran upstairs and headed towards the hallway with rooms. She opened each one, but found it vacant of living beings. It want until she came across one room that she stopped. It was Charlie's room. She could tell since the door was left slightly open. She busted in, almost calling for Charlie, but stopped seeing just the furnishings and...what looked to be a few things left behind, like someone was in a rush to get out of here. 'That's odd...she wouldn't run away!' She thought as she looked around, noticing a few items were gone. Her shoes, her phone, some of her stationary to name a few. Even her favorite bag was gone! What was going on??
She froze, hearing someone say her name. "Becca?....Eve?....Dee?! Is this a prank, I don't appreciate it!"
Growing more and more on edge, Felicity walked towards the door and peeked out into the hallways. Her head turned to the right instinctively, towards the other end of the hallway. She felt like something was watching her down there. She squared her shoulders and stormed down the hallway, an angered look in her eyes. But all she was met with was a door. This raised her eyebrow. She opened with only to be led into an attic. She loooed around seeing nothing pre than boxes filled with junk and a golden mirror that looked-cleansed?!
"What the hell is-?"
now she was getting scared. The voice was much more louder and clearer this time and it was coming straight from the mirror. A pair of eyes seemed to appear behind the glass, looking into her soul. She started backing away, the hair on her arms prickling up. She felt like she had lost her voice as she tried to scream. "G-Girls.....Girls!!!" She quivered. She only felt fear when it came to either she was close to losing a game and it was the last inning....she rarely felt fear when it came to horror genres of anything: movies, video games, or anything and that's saying something.

Then a pale face lunged at her from the glass, sending her screaming and hitting some boxes on the way down. She scrambled up to her feet, not caring for any potential injuries she had gotten. She just had to get out of there! She rips open the door and her doors thundered down the hallway and the stairs. Only to collide with the others at the bottom of the stairs.
"Licc!" Odette shouts. "Licc, calm down!"
"I saw it! I saw something!!!" Liccy shrieked.
"What?! What did you see?! Was it Charlotte?!" Evelyn demands.
"No! A face! It looked like a ghost!" The blonde shivered.
"Ghos- Licc, there's no such things as ghosts!" The Asian girl blinked a few times before trying to bring her back to reality.
"Look upstairs! It'll prove you wrong!!" Felicity then grabbed Evelyn's hands and began to drag her upstairs, followed by Odette and Rebecca. She hauled them towards the mirror in the attic, and pushed Evelyn towards it. "Go on! Peer inside and tell me you don't see one!" Evelyn gave her a weird look but did so and pressed her face close to the glass. But was only met with her reflection. Backing away, she looked at Liccy.
"You sure you weren't hallucinating?"
"I'm telling you I saw something in the mirror! It looked like eyes!"
"Okay, you know what? You're probably tired from the car ride. Let's get you on the couch and some water to drink." Odette sighed and grasped the blonde's arm, who began to roughly yank it back, but this only caused the others to try and restrain her.l, dragging her to the open door.
"No! I'm not crazy!! Something came at me from the mirror! You have to listen to me!!" But from out of nowhere, the door slammed shut and it made them all freeze in their tracks.
"The fuck was....did any of you feel...wind...?" Odette breathed rather shakily as the other gave replies akin to 'No'.
"I'm sorry for the intrusion."
"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!" The girls screamed bloody murder as something appeared before the mirror. The reflection of what seemed to be a male close to his mid-30s. An olive colored complexion with bright blue eyes and silvery white hair tied back into a low ponytail. He wore dark blue with gold accented armor, a red scarf loosely draped around his neck, concealing what looked to be a dark turtleneck shirt.
"Girls, calm down!" He said. "I'm not your enemy. Though I apologize for the scare. I had to get your attention somehow."
"That was YOU?!" Felicity demanded, now angered at the answer. "You're lucky you're not in person or else I'd beat the crap out of you!!"
"Sorry about her, Sir. She's just....rather rambunctious from today....." Rebecca apologized.
"He knew my name!!" The blonde argued. "I heard a whisper of my name when I began freaking out!"
"He what?!" Odette looked at the newcomer. "Who even are you??"
"That...." The man looked away painfully. "That's a long story. But regardless, my name is Eos. As for WHO I am.....that will have to wait for another day. But I know who your are looking for. And I know where she is." The girls stopped at the last sentence.
"Charlie?!"
"She's alive?!"
"Where is she?!"
"We need to find her!!"
"Please calm down girls." Eos hushed them. "I can answer your questions soon. But I will tell you: she is in danger."
"....What kind of danger....exactly...?" Rebecca spoke for the others.
"She is in an alternate dimension where Villains that you know about in films are being recognized as heroes in a magical school by individuals who represent them. But this school is hiding secrets of its own that she is trying to uncover. Not just the school, but herself as well. I have been trying to guide her but I am too weak to break out of my prison at the moment....but that's not to say you are out of the game. I can teach you how to fight with magic of your own. And you can use that to help Charlotte!"
"....but....if that's the case then, why can't Charlotte just get back home via your help?" Evelyn asked carefully.
"I'm afraid that's not possible." Eos sighed. "I am more restricted than you can imagine. And You may find it hard to believe but....she has a destiny tied to that world."
"Destiny??" Rebecca raised an eyebrow. "A world of Magic?! Since when did this turn into Hogwarts?!"
"Okay, no, no way! There's no such thing as magic, Villains and alternate universes full of this malarkey!" Felicity shook her head like it was a joke. "We're all 17! We're not little kids! Are we really gonna believe this guy is telling us the truth?! We're really gonna take his word that Charlie is alive in this universe and that she's not who we think she is?!"
Odette spoke to her, "Felicity, we care for Charlie as much as you! But she went through something we can barely sympathize with her over: losing both of her parents! You lost your mom, I don't know who my dad was or is, Rebecca only has her brother, and Evelyn has fights with her parents over family uppings! If maybe, JUST MAYBE, she really is alive in this world, then this may be a chance to finally see her again after all the turmoil she held onto! We don't have to accept the fact right now that there's actually magic in this world, or if there's villains who are really reincarnated into otome boys or some shit!....We can't just leave Charlie on her own in that world!"
"Dee's right. Charlie's been there for us all as we are for her. Wherever she goes, we go too." Rebecca nods. "She may accept our help, or she may not. But we're coming to be with her and help get her back home!"
"And whatever gets in our way, be it these Villains or the danger that is coming for her, we will face it head on." Evelyn swore. "Because we are FORCE, a strength of five united...."
"......Yeah. You're right." Felicity nodded after a while. "Let's do this: for Charlie!"
"Good." Eos nods. "But just so you know, once you step through this mirror, you will not be able to come back. Are you SURE you wish to step through?"
".....We are, Eos." Felicity nods with a determined smile.
"Wait! What about-"
"Your bags?" Eos smiled as he looked to the floor where four duffel bags were piled. "Yes, I'd take them with you."
"....Cool beans." Rebecca nods, a little wary.
-end flashback-
"So, you actually came here to come and find me?!" Charlie smiled after the story was told.
"Yes. But before we could, Eos had to train us." Odette answered. "While you were off battling all the Overblots, he was teaching us how to use magic properly: in combative training, how to summon things, all that."
"It's because we were unfamiliar with magic compared to you as you learnt it from the faculty and the students around you!" Rebecca added.
"And you mastered it wonderfully." Evelyn compliments.
"So which powers were you given?" Charlie asked.
"The respective Elements of Water, Fire, Earth and Air." Felicity responds. "It wasn't an easy task, learning magic. But for you, we'd do anything."
"And what with Acheron and his minions coming after you, they're have to fight us to get to you first." Odette cracks her knuckles.
"And even if we won't get home for a while, we're fine with it as long as we have each other." Evelyn nods.
"Girls...!" Charlie smiled happily. "You didn't have to and yet you did...for me?"

Blood Quest - A LitRPG
Leon's family has been diagnosed with a new type of incurable blood disease. It's an absolute death sentence and when it turns aggressive, you only have a few more years of painful life left to live. His mother has just begun the last years of the disease when a person supposedly comes back from death with supernatural abilities. He talks about a choice you get after death--get an extra chance to come back to life, or die. Even with Leon's diminishing life span, he won't consider the option of going there, until he meets another survivor who had the same goal as him and succeeded. Leon has a choice to make—die now for a chance to save his mother, or die in a few years, where the disease rapidly melts his muscles from his own body. He enters a game-like world, a sort of limbo, where his ultimate goal is to climb the tower of Katastroph before his mother's time runs out. There are a few problems with this though. The tower is almost impossible to beat, if you die you won't revive, and only three people in over twenty years have actually made it back. Leon has two years to climb the tower, with the help of the few people willing to try, while Ai, the tutorial guide, makes things harder for them. ***** The story starts pretty dark but goes onto a lighter tone. Then (more) dark again. Disclaimer: This story is an experimental project and I hope to get any and all feedback you can give me. Warning: First draft. Chapters tend to be between 3400-4100 words long (about 8-11 A4-pages). Mentioning it since I've seen it in other fictions :P Sometimes they're shorter, sometimes they're longer. ******************************** CHAPTER RELEASES UPDATE: As the first "book" in the series is done, I'm going to release coming chapters somewhat sporadically, and when Writathon ends, I'll probably go back to publishing one chapter per weekend. We'll just have to wait and see! I hope you enjoy the story! I really appreciate all comments and feedback, so if you have anything to say, feel free to voice it :) ************ [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.

Cascadia
Corvayne, a warrior exiled from his desert village, ends up in the backwater colony city Cascadia. He meets a strange girl, jumps through a portal to another world, and starts a journey to protect her and discover the secrets and treasures waiting in the mysterious rifts they call 'Towers'. Follow Corvayne as he fights throngs of monsters and explores totally-not-Seattle with Wick, his foul mouthed girlfriend. Along the way Corvayne will accumulate a rotating party of friends and misfits, journey into through dungeons full of dangers and loot, and learn to use a bevy of strange powers as he faces threats inside the mysterious 'Towers' and through the city of Cascadia, which hosts secrets of it's own, all while trying to unravel his tangled past. Updates: Mondays + Whenever I feel like it. ****************** This story features: -A cast who are mostly good friends and mostly good people, despite exploring weird and dangerous worlds. -A mix of dungeons, dragons, and exploring the pine scented city of Cascadia. -Very light LitRPG elements that slowly seep into the story. Learning the system is a challenge that takes the characters a long time. -A strange universe with a mix of both standard magic and powers that twist reality itself. Some wizards know how to cast fireball, but a few can curse someone to be lost for eons. -No explicit sex scenes. Warning is for implied sex scenes and some nudity. -Lots of blood, mostly monster blood. -A long planned story and long character arcs. I have the ending in mind as I write. -Single character PoV, with plans to add bonus chapters for other characters. [A winner of the Royal Road Writathon challenge.]
