"He isn't right for you, I know it. He just uses you and the only reason he is even in a relationship with you is because of the baby. If she wasn't here, you wouldn't be sitting here right now with a promise ring around your finger." Chris confessed to the man who was sitting in a chair with his feet propped up, baby sleeping in his arms as he softly patted her bum. He tilted his head a little but kept his poker face on.
"If he didn't love me, why did he agree to help me raise my daughter? Why did he stay with me during the hardship of parenthood? Was it all just an act?" Jimmy slapped back, staring daggers at the man knowing damm well he could burn a hole through his head if he wanted. The baby squirmed around in her sleep, not used to her father's unnerving voice.
"Yes. He wanted to make you believe. He's manipulating your mind into thinking he's right for you."
"Then tell me the proof you have on this." Silence blanketed them, allowing Jimmy to get up and walk away before returning after a couple of moments without the baby laying in his arms.
"Don't have any proof?" A smug smirk crept up onto his face, returning into Chris's view. He pulled the tie down to allow himself to breathe, turning to face Chris. "Are you just jealous that I got a boyfriend before you?"
"You sound like a d***." Chris barked at him, trying to keep it low to not disturb the baby. The smirk left his face as he fiddled with the cuffs of his sleeves.
"Well, if you kept that mouth shut trying to make false statements about my boyfriend, I wouldn't have to sound like one." This statement set Chris off guard, losing control over his actions. He stepped forward and brought Jimmy close to him, kissing him fully on the mouth. Strangely enough, Jimmy kissed back.
"Remember that?" Chris whispered when they separated, panting from how long they kissed. "When I knocked you up with your daughter?" Silence came from Jimmy, only his panting was heard. He pushed him away forcefully, getting to the other side of the room furthermost away from him.
"I don't want to remember that." Chris scoffed, going over to where he dropped his jacket earlier and swinging it over his shoulder, holding the collar by his thumb.
"Oh, you know how earlier how I was making accusations about your boyfriend? I think I messed up the people." He smirked as he caught Jimmy's glare. He knew he ticked him off and he waited for an explosion like a bomb.
"We were drunk and high that day, okay. I love my husband and you didn't want to stand up to be her father but he did." Jimmy spoke calmly, trying to keep it at peace. Chris raised an eyebrow, knowing that Jimmy was lying. They weren't either high or drunk that day, in fact, they were well-rested and sober, with no drugs running throughout their bodies.
He remembered where they did it and when. It was during a shot of a video where both of them had to hide and let the rest of the crew find them in 12 hours or they lose $10,000. When they set off to hide, Chris grabbed Jimmy's hand and pulled him to a space he knew no one would go to. When they settled, they whispered to each other for the first couple of hours before their conversations got heated. One thing lead to another and they were having sex in the middle of a forest.

It irritated him that he could just say that he didn't want to be the father to their daughter. He always pushed down the feelings of how he felt about the situation between them and their daughter.
"You know, you never told me about her until she was born. By then, you had already won his heart. I would've been glad to be her father, to be able to hold her when she was young and be there for her first moments. But you robbed that from me, letting Zac be there for everything. I just wanted to be there for her and you didn't let me." He started to choke up, tears threatening to spill over the bottom of his eyelids. He looked up to try to settle the tears. The sudden change of emotion startled Jimmy, not used to it.
"You... would've been happy to raise her? I thought you didn't like kids." Jimmy asked guilt started to get to him. Chris shook his head, bringing his head down to look at him.
"I don't but when I first laid eyes on her, she already won my heart. I thought it wasn't possible to love someone at first sight but you and your daughter both proved me wrong." Tears fell down his cheeks and onto his shirt. He wiped them away, but they kept on falling. The guilt that was once pulling at Jimmy's heart started to weigh him down.
"Chris..." He whispered, aching to reach out and hug him. A cry interrupted them, Jimmy knew it was his daughter. He made eye contact with Chris and softly sighed.
"I'm sorry I took her away from you. I'll go grab her and see what's wrong." He walked away to his daughter's room and opened the door quietly to her room. He saw her standing up in the crib, clinging onto the side with one hand and the other clinging onto her security blanket as tears ran down her face.
"What's wrong baby?" He walked over to her and leaned down to be at eye level with her. She made grabby hands towards him and he straightened his back out before picking her up. She kept on crying, squirming around in his arms.
"Dada!" She yelled out, tears flowing down her chubby cheeks. He sighed, trying to not hurt her feelings even more. It ached him to see her distressed and it ached him more to know when she said dada, she meant Zac and not her actual father.
"Dada's not here." She looked at him with even more tears, on the verge of a breakdown. He bounced her up and down as he tried to think of something quick to soothe her.
"Uncle Chris is here. Do you want to see him?" He asked gently, trying to distract her from missing her father. She didn't give a response, just staring blankly at him. He walked out of the room with her on his hip and went over to Chris, smiling softly at him.
"Who's that?" He referred to Chris as he spoke softly to his daughter. She looked over at him and pointed, rubbing her eye with her other hand. Chris went over to her and picked her up, bringing her close to his chest. Calming down in the presence of her uncle, she laid her head on his shoulder. He saw his eyes light up, always happy to see her. He knew it was the only thing he could get to be around her like a father.
"Why was she crying?" He asked quietly, brushing his hand along the back of her head. Jimmy felt guilty again, he knew it would make Chris moddy again. He hated it when he was moody. He would become silent and rarely talk to him, avoiding him completely.

"She had a nightmare, that's all. She needs someone new to comfort her." The lie came naturally out of his mouth before he could stop it. Chris nodded but deep down, Jimmy knew he didn't believe him.
"Leah, do you want to watch some TV?" Chris looked at her as she slowly nodded, walking over to the couch to sit down. He grabbed the remote, pressed the power on button, and flipped through the channels before he heard her squeal and point to the screen. He laughed a nice breathless one. Jimmy's phone vibrated against his leg and he tore his eyes away from the cute scene to look at the screen.
Zac
Hey babe, I'm going to be home
in a couple minutes. Got to run an
errand.
Ok, babe. Be safe.
How's Leah doing?
Missing you like always
Aww. Tell her I'll be home in couple minutes
I will. Chris came in to save the day, so she
isn't crying anymore. But I know she still
misses you.
Haha, she loves him and I know he does too.
The sentence broke his heart once more. He needed to talk to both of them about the situation, especially Zac. He never told Zac that Chris was the father, letting him believe it was some random dude that knocked him up and left him before they could find out. He looked up from his phone and looked over at the two. He saw Leah holding Chris's hands as she babbled on about something. She clapped his hands together and then separated them, making Chris laugh. He reached out his hands and clapped them softly against her face, squishing up her cheeks.
Chris then moved his hands down to tickle her sides, hearing her shriek and try to get away from him. Chris smiled and kept tickling her until she got out of reach. She was on the other side of the couch, balled up, and was still laughing. He was still smiling at her and softly patted the sit next to him. She shook her head at him, still laughing. Chris rolled his eyes then looked up and over at Jimmy. His smile dulled when they made eye contact, hurting Jimmy's heart. His smile used to widen when he saw him and they made eye contact but now it was just dull.
The doorknob shook making everyone look up at it before the door opened. Zac walked in with a couple of bags in his hand and shut the door with his foot. Leah scrambled off the couch and ran towards him, hugging his leg. He placed the bags down onto the floor and he picked her up, placing her onto his hip. He walked over to the chair where Jimmy sat and leaned down to kiss his lips. Jimmy half-heartedly kissed him back, the awkwardness settling in. Zac seemed to notice and raised an eyebrow at him. Jimmy shook his head and looked over his shoulder to look at Chris. He was standing up and was by the door putting his jacket on that he placed onto the jacket stand and slipping on his shoes.
"We'll be back sweetie. Food's in the fridge and toys are everywhere. You know where everything is." He ran to the door, put on his shoes, and followed Chris to his car. He got in the passenger seat and put on his seatbelt before Chris could get into the driver's seat.
"Jimmy." Chris sounded annoyed, throwing up his head. Jimmy looked at him through the open car door and sighed.
"Just get in, I need to talk to you." Chris shook his head and looked down the street. He shut the door and started to walk away. Jimmy hustled out of the car and ran after Chris. He caught up with him and grabbed his hand, feeling him jerk it out of his grip.
"Don't start." Jimmy nodded and folded his arms across his chest, forgetting a jacket as he was in a rush to get out of the door. They walked silently next to each other and when they reached the next block, Chris had taken off his jacket and placed it onto his shoulders. Jimmy nodded at him and put it on.
"You know, you hurt me better bad when you told me you were dating Zac. You were like six months into the pregnancy, three months of you knowing. I was working up the courage to ask you out. I thought it was going to be a three-month thing but I guess I fooled myself since you guys are now like two years in."
"One and three-quarters." Jimmy mumbled. Chris waved him off and stuffed his hands into his jeans pocket.
"I wish I was there to help you with the delivery of Leah but your, at the time three-month boyfriend, was there. How could you do that? I was your best friend for six years when you delivered her, you couldn't even invite me after the delivery." Chris's voice wavered but he tried to stay strong. He rounded his shoulders and sighed, looking away from Jimmy. Jimmy looked at him while trying to get his sentences straight in his head.
"Maybe I can talk to Zac about this and maybe he could let you live in the house so you can be with Leah or have a system where she spends the week at your place and a week at my place."
"No Jimmy. That's gonna confuse Leah. What I really want is... never mind." Jimmy turned his head towards him and grabbed his hand to make him stop looking at him.
"What do you really want?" He asked softly. Chris looked somewhere over his shoulder before averting his gaze to Jimmy. He leaned forward and kissed him, cradling the back of his head. Jimmy kissed back, finally understanding him.
"You want me?" He whispered when they parted.
"I want a family with you. I want to be there for our children and not have someone take my spot. That's all I want." Jimmy grabbed both of his hands and swung their arms, trying to think of something to say.
"Are you happy with Zac?" Chris asked. Jimmy shifted the weight onto his other leg while staring at Chris. Ever since Leah turned one, rough patches started to form more. Fights almost every other day rather than the arguments that were every other week. Leah started to cling to Zac more than she did to him, making him hurt every time she did it. And when Zac started to spend more time at work than at home, it weakened their relationship.
"Can we just keep walking?" Jimmy asked, pulling Chris's hands a little. Chris nodded and walked with him, their hands still held loosely together. Chris tightened his grip on Jimmy's hand, sensing Jimmy's anxiety. Jimmy didn't move his hand but just sighed.
"Honestly I'm not but I just can't let him go. I don't think I can find love again after him." Jimmy whispered, looking over at Chris. He guided them to a park in their neighborhood that had a small playground where Jimmy would sometimes take Leah. They walked to the swings by the slide and sat down in one. Jimmy pushed his swing slightly while Chris was getting it started to swing.
The colorful leaves swirled around as the wind blew softly, the sun starting to make its way down to the horizon. He watched a mother with her son that had to be three years old go down the slide. The boy got up quickly after he landed on the ground and ran around the playground. His mother got up slowly and watched him as he ran around. The squeaking from Chris's swing stopped as he stopped swinging.
"Are you going to break up with Zac?" Another question was fired at him. Jimmy scratched the back of his head as he tore his gaze off the family and onto Chris. He was staring at him with such intensity that it made him uncomfortable.
"Not right now but he's rocking on that fence. I just don't want to tell him to leave me and hurt Leah. She loves him, hell her first word was dada. Maybe if I separate from him while she's so young, it won't hurt her that bad." Jimmy sighed and put his hands on his face. "This is too much."
Chris got up and patted his shoulder, sighing. He'll admit it, he wanted Jimmy. He wanted Jimmy in his arms and to be able to have a family with him of their children. He wanted Jimmy to look at him like he used to look at Zac.
"Do you want a free ring?" Jimmy asked as he took his hands off his face. He looked up at Chris as he wiggled the promise ring off his right pointer finger. Chris raised an eyebrow and shook his head.
"No Jimmy. Keep it for memories." Jimmy scoffed and got up, walking away.
"I already have memories of him." He mumbled, getting close to the gate that lead back out to the neighborhood. Chris jogged to follow him and saw Jimmy stop, kicking the loose gravel. He stuffed one of his hands into his pocket and the other still fidgeted with the promise ring between his pointer finger and thumb. He looked up and over at Chris, stuffing the ring into his pocket. He put out his hand, allowing Chris to take it. The warm fingers wrapped around his cold fingers, a spark flowing between both of them.
"You know, I think I'm just falling out of love with Zac. We had our good moments but I think I need to move on. I feel don't compete with him anymore." He glanced over at him, then turned his head. "Someone else has my heart." He mumbled, barely audible but Chris caught it.
He stopped them and walked in front of him, facing him. He looked him up and down before letting go of his hands. Slowly, he moved his arms up and let his hands meet Jimmy's body. He shivered when they made contact, his cold hands going through the layers of clothing on his body. He placed them firmly onto his hips, gliding his fingers across his abs. Their noses touched Chris moved his head towards his.
"Put in some work. I know you want it." Chris softly commanded, making Jimmy mimic his slow motions. His arms rested on his shoulders as his hands folded onto the back of his neck. He flexed them and pushed them against the back of his neck to make their lips dangerously close. Both waited to see who would make the move. Would it be the guy who was in the relationship or the guy who wanted the guy in the relationship? They looked at each other and made eye contact. Chris let the lust that was burning inside him overflow. He closed his eyes and put his lips onto Jimmy's. They kissed, having a full-blown make-out scene in public.
"I want you. I need you." Chris gasped as they separated, kissing him again. "You're my everything." Kissed him again. "Never leave me." Kiss. "You make me complete." Kiss. "God, I could never get tired of these lips." Kiss. "I want to have a family with you." Kiss. "I want to die with you." Kiss. "I want everything." Kiss. "Will you be my boyfriend?" He stopped, letting Jimmy think. Jimmy leaned forward and pecked him lightly on the lips.
"Yes, after I break up with Zac." Chris smiled and kissed him once more before backing away from him. Jimmy scrunched up his lips as he thought. Chris took his hand and turned him so they could start walking back. He let go of his hand and they walked side by side until they reached Jimmy's house. Chris's heart started to beat faster, thinking of scenarios of what was going to happen. Jimmy didn't seem bothered as he took out his key and opened the door. Quietness filled the house and Jimmy turned to Chris. It was only seven o'clock at night and the house was never quiet at that time. He stepped into the house and Chris followed.
"Leah? Zac?" Jimmy called out as Chris closed the door. They stepped further into the house and broke off to look through the house. Jimmy looked in the two rooms in the house along with the bathroom. Chris looked through the kitchen, dinning room, and living room. Nothing.
"Zac's car is still here." Chris called to Jimmy as he came back into the living room. Jimmy nodded and he tapped away at his phone, his face concentrated but in the lines of his face traced worry.
"He's not answering. I'll wait a little bit." He mumbled and looked up at Chris. He nodded, worry bubbling inside of him. Leah was like a child to him, even though he didn't help raise her as a baby. The couch squeaked as Jimmy sat down, a fast tap came from him as he tapped his shoe against the floor.
"She'll come back." Chris said after a moment. Jimmy sighed and a ding came from his phone. They both looked at it for a moment before Jimmy lunged for the phone and read the text.
"He's at the supermarket and will be back in ten minutes." They both released a sigh of relief at the same time. Jimmy looked up at him as he moved his legs to get comfortable.
"You care about her don't you?" Chris raised an eyebrow at him, wondering where all these questions were coming from.
"Yeah." He scratched the back of his neck and looked at the door. It was obvious Chris cared about Leah, which made Jimmy feel guilty. He should've had the opportunity to raise her as a child, not Zach. No matter how much he could say Zach did help him a lot and was a good father to her, he felt Chris would've done a better job. Sometimes when it was Zach's shift to take care of her, he would make Jimmy do it. When Chris came over sometimes, he would ask if he could take care of Leah before doing it. She would have a rough time that night to fall back asleep because Chris left a lingering touch on her that magically helped her to sleep.
