⚠️ potential tw: divorce
Part 1 of 2
For the longest time, Jotaro had a huge crush on you. You were very aware of this, because through your junior high days to now, he would always seize the opportunity to ask you out.
"Would you go out with me?"
"Nope."
As children, Jotaro noticed how popular you were. The way your hair somehow fell in the right places no matter what you did, how you managed to be kind to the annoying kids, and most of all, how you rejected every boy in the school.
It was the day after spring break where he approached you at your locker. It was the first year of junior high.
"Y/N?" he asked to get your attention.
You shut your locker and looked straight at him. There was no height difference between you two at the time, "Yes?"
"U-Uh, when you're free, do you want to go on a date with me?" he stuttered.
You smiled at him with empathy, "Sorry Jotaro, but no."
He walked away with slightly broken confidence, but he wasn't going to give up! He was sure that he would be the first boy you agree to go out with.
He asked you out once a week after that. This lasted all the way into your final year of senior high.
"Please go out with me?"
"Hah, as if."
~~~
"Wanna go out? I know a good dessert place."
"Absolutely not."
~~~
"Just one date? You won't regret it."
"Move on, Kujo."
~~~
You noticed that you no longer made solid eye contact with him. He started towering over you, intimidating you into going out with him.
"Go out with me," he asks, but it's more of a demand.
This one catches you off guard, and you stare at him, speechless.
He holds his soft but unsettling stare, "So?"
You catch yourself in your hesitation, then smirk, "You're funny for demanding that of me. No."
He smiles softly back at you as he expected this outcome and walked away, "You know where to find me."
"Yes, I do..." you muttered to yourself.
He knows that you know.
He knows that you started to observe him.
But you can't help but notice him without trying.
For the past few months, you admit that you have had your eye on him. Not to romantically pursue him, but boy, he really has changed.
He's colder, much colder. He looks unsatisfied with everything he does and sees. He's an absolute unit. But when you two look at each other dead in the eyes once a week, you notice that he still has the same glimmer in his eyes every time.
You turn away from your position and head to your class, looking at your feet as you walked.
You knew exactly where to find him right after school.
The train station.
Your school was in a very urban area, of course. It was Tokyo. You and Jotaro both had to take a train to the suburbs of the city because you had large houses. Well, they're only large because every room is separated... but the land itself can't fit anywhere near your school.
You arrive at the train station, breathless. You had to run to the station because your teacher wanted to talk to you for a bit when school ended. You see your train coming on your left, and you look to the right.
That same glimmer is almost blinding, even if he is 10 metres away (33 feet). He looks like he's holding in a laugh. You glare at him and straighten your posture to catch your breath.
The wind of the high-speed train blows your hair into your face. You flip it back to how it was, frustrated, then get on the train.
You take a seat and put your bag in your lap. After a couple stops, someone sits down beside you. You look away from the window to see who it was.
That uniform... is from your rival high school.
You stare back out of the window, "There are other empty seats."
"I know," he starts, "But I think you're really pretty."
You look at him. Wispy blond hair that falls in front of his eyes, a lean figure, and light green eyes. You admit that he was pretty attractive. However, you've seen better green eyes.
You scoff, "Sorry, but I don't see myself getting along with someone from Kaisei."
"The school I go to doesn't define me. And I don't mind being with someone from Azabu," he winks.
You cringe, "Sorry, but no thanks. I'm sure you're a nice person, but-"
"Is he making you uncomfortable?" a deep voice cuts in.
During your time talking to the boy from Kaisei, Jotaro watched with anger slowly bubbling up inside of him. He noticed your usual rejection smile, and he decided that you needed some saving.
"But?" the boy ignores Jotaro, leaning closer to your face.
You start to get nervous and blurt out, "That's my boyfriend?"
Jotaro's eyes widen in surprise, but he decided to play the role. "Get out."
The blond rolls his eyes, "This was my stop anyway," and walks out of the train, "See you later, Y/N."
How did he know your name?! You look down to think, but the answer is given right away. Your name tag.
Next stop was yours and Jotaro's.
You get off of the train, trailing behind him. You tug on his sleeve to get his attention, and you thank him.
"Sorry for putting you on the spot like that, I really had no other excuse to reject him. Thank you for playing along."
He raises an eyebrow, "You had no other excuse? So you liked him?"
You look away and laugh in embarrassment, "Perhaps."
His eyebrows furrow and you start walking away.
"Y/N, you owe me for playing along."
You turn around, "What do I owe you?"
He smiles mischievously, "A date."
"..."
"..."
"Fine."
When it got dark, you two took the train to the Tokyo night market, where you can buy all sorts of street food and other retail goods.
You two grab food and sit down in a nearby field, almost like having a picnic.
"Do you wanna-"
"No I don't, Jotaro." you stop him.
He stares at you blankly, "I was going to ask if you wanted to share this takoyaki with me... but okay."
You frown, "Is it too late to take it back? I love takoyaki."
He hands some over to you, "I know you do, so eat up.
You stuff your face with food and point at yourself, "Are you really into this?"
"I'm into every version of you," he responds and wipes your mouth with a napkin.
You blush slightly, "I don't know why you keep chasing after me. You know I'm not going to say yes."
He shakes his head, "I want to be the first person you agree to go out with."
You roll your eyes, "You can have any other girl in Tokyo, I swear. It's time for you to move on."
"I don't want any other girl," he replies, "I'm telling you, I want you."
You smile at the ground, knowing that he won't be convinced. "Whatever you say, Kujo. What if I started to date another guy? Perhaps the Kaisei boy from the train?"
He grits his teeth under his hat, "I won't allow that to happen."
"It's not like it will happen anyways," you admit, "I don't believe in love."
Your confession leaves Jotaro confused, "Why not?"
You take a deep breath to talk about the sensitive topic, "My parents used to be so in love. They had date nights every Friday to keep their relationship alive. But out of the blue, they got a divorce. I chose to live with my mom because my dad moved to Kawasaki and left the house to us."
Jotaro's atmosphere becomes soft, "I'm sorry about that, Y/N. It must have been hard on you."
You sniffle, tears threatening to spill from your eyes, "It's okay. I've learned to live with it."
"Are you crying?" he asks.
"I hope you find it unattractive and give up," you joke to help cope with your sadness.
He scoots closer to you and puts an arm around your back, "Well, I don't want a robot for a girlfriend."
You agree, "I guess you're right. But really, I'm not that special, and you need someone different."
Jotaro stays persistent, "That's not true."
After eating, you two catch the train home and say your goodbyes.
"Thanks for taking me out. I had fun, even if it was just a fake date," you tell him.
He smiles with just one end of his mouth, "Thanks for even agreeing to go. I'm not so bad after all, am I?"
You laugh lightly and walk inside your house, "You're still annoying. See you tomorrow."
~~~
The next morning at the train station, you didn't see Jotaro. Maybe he was going to take the one that shows up right when school starts?
You finish your walk from the train station to your high school, where you're met with a large crowd of girls fawning over someone. Maybe Jotaro went earlier? You came closer to see who it really was...
And it wasn't him.
It was the boy from Kaisei Academy.
He sees you far in the crowd and rushes over to you, "Y/N, I brought these for you!"
He hands you a paper-wrapped bouquet of flowers. They were pretty indeed, but they had daisies.
You had a problem with daisies.
Before you had time to give it back, a hand smacks the bouquet out of your hands to the floor.
"She's allergic to daisies, you asshole!"
It's true. Their high pollen content makes you feel lethargic quickly. But how does he even know that?
"I'm not scared of you, Jotaro Kujo. I didn't know she was allergic to daisies, I just wanted to bring her something nice. It was so easy to tell that you're not really dating her!" The boy responds.
"Who even are you? And who do you think you are?" Jotaro growls.
"Sora Matsuki," he responds,
"Do you remember me now, Y/N?"
aaand part 1 done... stay tuned!

The Edge of Endless
Due to some unforseen and significant life events, this story will be on hiatus for a time. Reborn into a strange but familiar world, Alex makes it his mission to uncover the mysteries of governments, gods, and the arcane realm known only (and inaccurately) as the Unending Depths. Slowly but surely, he grows in ability and meets new and interesting people. tEoE is an epic fantasy LitRPG with a focus on plot, writing, and hopefully original twists on the standard formula of 'MC picks cool class, levels up'. Give it a read if any of the following appeals to you: > 3000-5000 words per chapter, chapters released at least once per week, usually several times. Expect good grammar. > Story focus on illusions, secrets, and traps (along with the usual combat and character stuff). > Progression fantasy, but one where progress is meant to feel earned, moderately paced, and reasonable. Some advantages, but not big, unfair ones. > If a random reader can work out that putting a big rock in a bag of holding, lifting it, and then dropping the rock is free energy, then so could an adventurer who's owned a bag of holding for twenty years. Side characters have brains too. > Blue boxes! Levels! [Classes]! [Skills]! Loot! > No uncomfortable sexist undertones. Ambivalent about including relationships. Definitely no harems. There are a number of arcs planned and this will be ongoing for some time. I am very appreciative of the kind reviews and comments left so far.
