Sage

DAU...DAUGHTER!?

When I turn around to look at him I see a torturous expression formed all over his face. And without saying a single word he just walked away. I watch as Greyson passes Bianca and the little girl then leave the lobby. He didn't look back once, he...he didn't even look at me.

"Immature." Bianca scoffs. "Typical Greyson behavior."

"Bianca I think you and the girl should leave." Hudson swallows hard as he drops his arm.

"My daughter wanted to meet him and so I intend for them to meet." Bianca explains, then moves her attention to me. "How does it feel knowing he stuck his bare dick in another wo—"

"There's a child!" Hudson shouts.

Oh my gosh...Greyson got another woman pregnant. But why wouldn't he tell me? Why would he hide such an important fact? This makes no sense, he tells me everything, he shows me all of his bad sides so easily.

I wonder what this child looks like, maybe it's not his...

Hiding behind Bianca, I observe the little girl and instantly recognize her. Scarlett. That same child I met in the cafe when I used to hang out with Dorian. The beautiful girl who I assumed had gorgeous parents. And worst of all who shared something so distinct with Greyson, it was uncanny.

Her eyes

The color of the sea after a storm, a hauntingly captivating pair of piercing and luminous gray eyes. There was no denying it, she had her mother's shiny and luscious hair, even shared a similar facial structure for a child. But she most assuredly had her father's eyes, it was a small trait but I can't think of anyone in the world with such distinct eyes and a gaze like that.

"Scarlett knows how daddy fucked mommy silly and then she was born." Bianca pulls out a cigarette from her purse. "I have no secrets from my child."

I can't hear this...

But looking at Scarlett and how she keeps looking back, that was a child who desperately wanted to see her father. She looked like she was fighting to keep from crying but it's not working as she planned.

"Does your child know that you killed Greyson's child? That Greyson's not her father? That her mother is a frivolous woman? Does she!?" Hudson yells angrily.

Killed Greyson's child?

My eyes widened and I stared at Scarlett who looked like everything went to shambles around her.

"She knows I tried to kill her but my lawyer said it wouldn't be beneficial—" Bianca starts.

A child...one who's so young has been told by her own mother...that she was so unwanted that her mother wanted to abort her? Scarlett drops her head and without hesitation, I storm towards the hurt little girl and grab her.

"How dare you!" I hiss, tightly holding Scarlett in an embrace, covering her face.

Bianca raises an eyebrow. "There's no use lying to her, she knows I think her existence is a hindrance."

"Sage, don't. This isn't out battle—" Hudson starts but I look at him.

Standing up, I grab Scarlett's hand. "It doesn't matter. Anyone unwilling to love their child and protect them from hateful things like that shouldn't be ignored. Especially when their child is right next to them listening. And whether or not this is Greyson's child I won't allow this girl to go back with her."

"That's not your decision." Bianca snorts. "I'm the mother."

I place my hands on Scarlett's ears. "Well, you're a bitch."

"Is that any way to speak to the mother of your fiance's daughter?" Bianca tilts her head.

I'm not sure what to do in situations like this, she's right, I hold no power with Scarlett. I could go to jail for kidnapping if I take her away, but I'm willing to take the chance if it means one less day with a woman so venomous, so...

Poisonous

No...Bianca...she's the poisonous woman Grandfather spoke about. The one who broke Greyson, this was someone Greyson loved.

How could he have loved someone like her!?

"Hudson I'm going to see if I can find Greyson!" I shout, looking at him. "I'm taking Scarlett with me."

Hudson nods. "I'm fine, I've been meaning to give her a piece of my mind."

Then without hesitation, I grip tightly around Scarlett's hand and we make a run for it.

Greyson was nowhere to be found and from what I could tell, he got driven somewhere. So I decided to go to the first place I could think of. When it comes to Greyson, if there's one thing he does when he's hot tempered or emotion-filled it's working. He worked when he got stabbed and when he got shot.

So Scarlett and I got inside a cab and went on our way. When we arrived, we walked inside the Blackstone Towers.

"Hey John, did Greyson come in?" I ask, still holding the brutally silent child's hand.

John shakes his head. "He just left to his loft."

Loft? I didn't know Greyson owned a loft.

Then again he's ridiculously rich, I'm pretty sure he owns a few places I have no knowledge of.

"Do you know where that is?" I ask.

He shakes his head. "Sorry."

"I know the address." I hear a familiar voice say.

When I look to my side I see Lucas walking towards me. "Lucas? You're still here?"

"Yeah I was...doing stuff that distracted me, so I'm catching up." He chuckles awkwardly. "Anyways, if you're going to see him I'll give you some files he needs to sign. I was going to drop them off myself but since you're here and with...a child? I'm just going to kill two birds with one stone, it'll save me time."

I smile. "You're a life saver and don't ask."

During the ride it was deadly silent, Scarlett hadn't muttered one word. And honestly, I don't know how to converse with a child with a mother like that.

"My mommy isn't a bad person." Finally, she breaks the silence.

My brows raise. "What?"

"You think she's mean...she's just honest. I'd rather her hate me openly than secretly." Scarlett stares at her lap, gripping onto her skirt tightly.

I push her hair behind her ear. "Honey, a mother's never supposed to hate their child. She's supposed to love you unconditionally."

"But she can't...she says she's incapable of love." Her eyes move to mine, sadness fogging them.

It pained me to see this, to see someone who doesn't understand how abnormal that is. "That doesn't mean she can't try."

"Daddy didn't try to love me." Then she averts her gaze elsewhere, towards the window. "He just left."

Very true, I've got a few words to share with him about this situation. But to walk out and not say anything, I can't help but feel disappointed in him.

The cab stopped at the loft and so I paid the driver, Scarlett and I got out. Then went inside. Greyson apparently owned the entire place so all I had to do was ring the bell. Which I did and we both waited patiently in front of the door.

A loud buzzer went off and so we went upstairs.

It was very spacious and confusing inside of this place, I wasn't sure where to find him.

Until. "Did you get the paperwork, Lucas?"

Greyson sounded very...different, he didn't sound like himself.

Following where the voice came from I found him in what appeared to be the Living Room. He was sitting down, holding a teddy bear. I watched from behind as he chugged down a beer and shook the bear in his hand. I've rarely seen him drink and when he does it's like a bottle of beer or a glass of wine. However, there were several bottles of beer on the table.

"Lucas?" He starts turning around but when he see's us, he stiffens.

Scarlett freezes.

"Sage...what...what's going on?" Greyson asks, looking at her, then me.

I clear my throat. "I couldn't leave her with Bianca, that woman is horrible."

"Take her back to Bianca, she's not my problem." Greyson turns around from us.

"Greyson Blackstone if you don't speak to this little girl, so help me I will beat the living daylights out of you." I frown. "Before jumping to conclusions see if yourself whether or not she's your daughter."

Greyson stood up abruptly, clenching his fists and shouts. "My child's dead!"

"Greyson—"

He turns around and I he looked like a complete mess, his face was red and agony shadowed his expression. "No! She will not do this to me again, I will not...not go there. Do not make me go there Sage, please...please don't." He rubs his face. "I can't do it again."

"Do what again?"

"Lose a child!" He storms away and I follow behind him.

I'm not sure the story between Bianca and him, but Greyson looks so tormented right now. I can't honestly function knowing that he's like this.

Greyson stops in the bedroom, at least I'm assuming it is since there's a bed. But that's all there is in here, just a bed.

"Greyson talk to me." I grab his arm.

He slumps onto the bed, dropping his face into his hands. "I was twenty years old."

I sat down next to him.

"Bianca and I had been dating for a little over a year. We decided to spend our summer vacation at her parent's summer home in the Hamptons." He continues. "A lot happened and...protection wasn't in the picture, next thing you know she's pregnant."

I cringed but listened, rubbing his back for comfort.

"I wasn't told within the first three months, it wasn't until I started seeing her gain an unusual amount of wait before I got suspicious." He sighed. "She finally told me and trust me I was messed up, I had just turned twenty-one and...it was too much that hit me all at once."

I nodded.

"My entire family went bonkers at the news..especially when it went on the tabloids and what-not. It took a while, a month or two but...I started to enjoy the idea of having a child." He smiled hesitantly. "I actually read a few books, spoke to Bianca's stomach a lot and she hated it. I loved that child, because even though it wasn't born it was changing me but in a good way."

I lean my head on his shoulder.

"I didn't know it was possible to strictly love one person, but I had an abundance of it for my kid. And I waited excitedly every day to meet them." His voice went shaky and he shifted to grab that same bear I saw him playing with when we got here. "I even bought this bear for the child, it was cliche to me but for some reason, it felt right. I'd play with it on Bianca's stomach while speaking to them."

My nose started to sting, hearing his voice so hurt-filled.

"And one day..." He dropped his head. "One day it was all over the news...Bianca had just gotten out of the clinic and I was on high alert. She never complained and seemed alright but when I confronted her..." Greyson let out an exasperated sigh. "...she apologized." Then swallowed down hard. "She apologized because she had an abortion and that she was too young for the child. Then before I knew it Bianca left me and never came back...for seven years."

My heart immediately broke at the turmoil he described.

"I wasn't as bad with women as I was before Bianca." He explains. "The only reason why I flirted around was because I wanted it out of my system before I actually settled down. I did want a family. But after Bianca, women could no longer be trusted. It took me years to cope with the fact that my child was dead and that the woman I used to love ripped my heart out with my baby."

I hugged Greyson and hushed him. "You don't need to say anymore...it's okay, honey."

And we sat in silence for what felt like infinite.

We finally walked out because it dawned on us that Scarlett was in the loft all alone. Searching around we found her on the couch, curled up and asleep.

Greyson stared at her intently.

"She has your eyes." I inform him.

He doesn't move his eyes from her. "She's beautiful."

"Scarlett's an interesting kid, I actually met her briefly at a cafe. She was very unusual and highly mature." I explain. "You'd like her. I already do."

Greyson runs his fingers through his hair. "I'll take the D.N.A. test and while we wait...I'll take her in."

"Sounds good."

He grabs my hand and kisses it. "If Bianca really isn't lying and she's really mine—"

"She's a hundred percent yours." I snicker.

He cracks a smile. "If so, I'm going to do everything in my power to keep her. Are you alright with that?"

"If you didn't do that I'm not sure how long it'd take for you to stop sleeping on the couch." I grin. "Of course, I'm alright if it makes you and her happy I'll be in complete bliss."

Greyson kisses my forehead. "I don't deserve you."

"Yeah you really don't," I tell him. "I'm like, awesome."
