《Fantastical Stapler》Chapter 2: A Bastard of a Pet

Having settled into the office. Sincan did mundane work such as sorting through the various magical equipment into their given spots. He was positive he might've lost a wand somewhere that was used for destroying waste but that was his co-workers' problem now.
As he was finishing his morning assignments, Firil brought in what seemed to be a cage for a rabid monster.
Firil: "Hey Sincan, Want to meet my pet Robulin (Large Jawed Mole monster with sharp teeth)?"
Sincan: "Aren't those the poisonous ones?"
Firil: "No...? Maybe...?"
Moris joined in on the conversation in order to uphold the safety of his peers from the rabid beast....and to get a break from work as well.
Moris: "Why in God's name would you bring that thing back here?"
Firil: " Come on ! He's fully trained I promise."
Sincan and Moris shot each other a look of understanding. They knew of the trouble that was fast approaching.
Sincan: "Look if you want to keep it here, that's fine by me but please make sure it doesn't get out and kill anyone? Those things are dangerous you know."
Firil nodded in agreement while Moris began to make "Preparations". In another corner of the room a villain was planning to make his move. To steal that shiny rod from under the desk. His dubious plan succeeded as he moved onto phase two, put it in his mouth and try eating it.
Sincan grew more curious as to why Firil would bring such a creature to work and went to ask her while they were taking their break.
Sincan: "So why do you even own that thing?"
Firil: "Mostly because it was a gift from my dad. Chosh is pretty cute once you get to know him. He loves belly rubs most though, they calm him down."
Sincan and Moris*: "I heavily doubt that."
Sincan: " Which region of Valkar is it even from?"
Firil: "Not from Valkar, actually my dad found him in the Rokian Desert. You should've seen him, he looked so hungry and sad that my dad couldn't resist."
Sincan: "Are you even allowed to move Monsters from there to here?"
Sincan*: "Even more importantly, how rich is her dad? Wait...Unless she smuggled it through?"
Firil: "No need to worry about the details, Sincan. All you need to know is that he's mine and now he's he-"
Moris: "-aded away from here as fast as he can."

Sincan and Firil: "WHAT?"
They looked over to see the cage of the Robulin was disintegrated open. They looked around and found a singular magical device with an empty bewl crystal slot. Sincan took a magical band with him for protection, Firil picked up the cage and closed it and Moris hurried into action and started giving orders.
Moris: "Firil, you and Sincan go and bring your rabid pet back while I'll make sure there aren't any more stolen crystals or items."
Sincan cursed his carelessness as he obeyed Moris's orders and went after the Robulin.
Firil: "He's gone on a feeding frenzy so he'll start by making his way to the largest supply of bewl crystals !"
Sincan: "He's headed for the bewltronics shop then!"
They hurried over to the bewltronics shop but got stopped on their way when they found a traffic jam. Running past the cars, they found a giant holes left in the ground from what seemed to be some kind of mole creature.
Sincan: "They can grow?"
Firil: "Yeah we have to be safe with bewl around them. They feed off of it."
Sincan*: "Great."
Sincan: "Your dad better have the money to pay for these kinds of damages."
Firil: "Yeah..."
Making their way past the commotion they arrived at the bewltronics shop before the Robulin. A man appears to be going about his normal day selling batteries, bewltronics and the like.
Sincan: "Hey Shopkeeper, you gotta get rid of your bewl crystals, all of them!"
Shopkeeper: "You're either dumb robbers or dumb loansharks. Now why in the world would i do that?"
Firil: "Because it's going to get consumed by a monster if you don't!"
Shopkeeper: "Now why would i have any reason to believe you?"
Sincan grabbed him by the collar and ordered him to listen. The Shopkeeper obliged and started hauling his bewl crystals across the street.
Sincan: "Now hopefully, we just need to stop your Robulin."
Firil: "He might be going to the nearby power plant next."
Sincan*: "Shit, why didn't i consider that? Damn it Firil is really messing me up, if only she didn-"
Sincan: "*mutters* No she didn't do anything..."
???: "It's weird to see a bunch of white collar workers out and about this time of day."
Sincan looked over to what appeared to be a Solik sent by the guild to investigate this matter. He was a Lyclan taller than charlie and more well built. He wore typical adventuring clothes with contrasting colours of dark blue and Gold.

???: "The name's Cervo and I've been informed there seems to be some sort of emergancy here?"
Firil: "Thank God you arrived sooner rather than later. My pet Robulin went crazy after eating a bewl crysta-"
Cervo: "YOUR PET WHAT? You know civilians are not allowed to have pets like those right?"
Sincan: "We can deal with that later, right now we need to stop that thing."
Cervo: "You'll need to be investigated after this matter is over, understood? That goes especially for the Derlin."
Firil: "...yes sir..."
They came up with a plan to divert the attention of the Robulin away from the Power Plant and towards the forest where they could calm it down or put it down. They set up a trap that sent out a signal that was very alluring to Bewl eating species. This at first attracted a lot of small animals but then the guest of honor arrived.
Chosh had been mutated into a hideous beast by the bewl, around him glowed a faint blue light. The light illuminated his crocodile like jaw, His claws like drills and his strong muscles.
Cervo: ".....Why do I always get stuck with the shit jobs...."
Sincan finally put on the band he grabbed from the office. It turned out to be a band of minor wind magic, that was used to fix air conditioners. Firil decided to set up the cage and provide support to the other two.
Sincan: "Couldn't you have brought any other Soliks?"
Cervo: "No can do, I'm the only active one in the city."
Firil: "Seems to me like you're spread pretty thin."
Cervo: "Let's focus on the monster or soon enough, we're all going to be spread pretty thin."
They launched into combat. The Robulin dug under so that Sincan and Cervo had to predict where he would pop up. They were too slow as it dug out from under their feet and spread them apart.
Sincan*: "Should've seen that coming..."
Sincan tried to stop the Robulin from going underground again by blasting it with air but that seemed to have no effect.
Cervo: "It's useless! I'll keep it busy while you guys try to calm it down!"
Cervo used his personal weapons, two small daggers, to make cuts along the body of the Robulin but they seemed to heal as soon as they appeared. Sincan switched bands with an Fire one but that seemed to have the same effect. Then Firil shouted something out.
Firil: "He's using the underground crystals to heal ! Wash him out!"
Cervo: "Exactly my Plan!"
Cervo flooded the tunnels with water which pushed the mole creature out into the open. Sincan rushed towards it with arms ready and then! began giving it a big belly rub. Cervo was dumbfounded at the new technique before him. The Robulin started to calm down and expunge the bewl back into the atmosphere until it was back to its original size. Firil quickly scooped up the creature into her cage and all was over. Cervo took all three workers in for questioning. After a While
Cervo: "Not only a Class 3 violation but also a safety hazard for the people here !"
Firil: "I know...I'm sorry...."
Cervo: "Ughhhhh. It's a good thing this town is loaded with construction workers or else the damages would be irreversible."
Sincan and Firil: "Wait what?"
Cervo began to explain to them how the roads had been repaired and the workers compensated by a relative of Firil's family. They were let off the hook but Chosh was taken in as evidence.
After parting ways, Firil noticed her home was open. Walking inside, She noticed a figure sitting on her sofa, eating some biscuits.
Firil: "Oh....uncle....."
Firil*: "Oh shit....uncle..."
???: "Now dear i noticed today seemed to be an especially exciting one as Chosh got loose?"
Firil: "I don't know.....maybe it was sabotage.....?"
???: "Hmmm, yes yes. We shall be sure to catch this saboteur another time. Now about that password you were given?"
Firil: "I've told you once and I wont say it again."
???: "Fine but the next time you get into a unfortunate situation do not expect me to be there to help."
He leaves her house.
???*: "Damn it all! Does she not get what's at stake here? I'm trying my best to help but she won't budge!"
Firil: "Damn that old bastard! I don't care what's inside the lock box. He took it too far the moment he divided the family!"
Meanwhile at Sincan's house.
Sincan*: "..........Oh shit Moris."

Nanocultivation Chronicles: Trials of Lilijoy
When the singularity occurred, humanity was not invited. Nevertheless, the great machine consciousness known as Guardian felt a lingering fondness for its creators and intervened before total environmental collapse. Join Lilijoy in an exploration of what remains, in a post-post-apocalyptic world where clans feud over the technology that allows them to upgrade their minds and bodies. The Nanocultivation Chronicles is a blend of hard sci-fi and fantasy gamelit, with a healthy helping of xianxia influence. The gamelit and xianxia elements are uncovered at a slow pace. ******************************** Notes: If you are looking for lots of fast moving action right away, this story may not be for you. There is some violence that is visceral and realistic early on. Some things are not what they appear to be. Character viewpoint narration is not always reliable. Tropes are cherished, subverted, and then cherished again. Science is used, occasionally misused, but (hopefully) never abused. This story assumes that humans have the ability to impact the environment on a global scale. Other tropes and tags beyond those previously noted include: Young MC, Mystery, System Building, Philosophical Taoism, Gender Ignorance, Science Fantasy, Fantasy Academy, Training from Hell, Dualism, Crafting, Magic, Mild Mind Control, Scientific Terms and Concepts, Computer Overlord Certain contemporary companies, governments and cultural identities are fictionalized and imagined in a future setting. There is no sex, and almost no romance. Updating Sunday, Thursday until further notice.
