《Marauding Gods (First Draft)》Book One: Epilogue: The battle that started and ended everything

A young man in a shabby yet fearsome hood made of various monster skins was steadily ascending an incandescent volcanic mountain, accompanied by a four-times his height black and golden-eyed wolf.

Though the pairing was quite an unusual one, one could tell from the way they strode together that these two were casual with each other. Despite the temperature being higher than what human skin could withstand, the pair didn't seem bothered in the least.

Fiery dragons hovered above the mountain, swarming the sky like a flock of birds.

Those dragons were labelled by human standards as one of the strongest of the category of monsters known as mythical beasts. Creatures that, due to their territorial nature, never allowed anything to pass through their territory, which consisted of the mountain the duo were climbing, yet not one of them attempted to involve themselves with the pair; in fact, they actively avoided hovering anywhere near them.

Only one brave enough to approach the duo, blocking their path, let out a proud roar, sending a gust of wind blowing away the man's hood, revealing his face to the world.

His long white hair was flapping in the breeze. Young he certainly was but his face was ravaged by scars and burns.

The giant wolf who was accompanying him took a step forward, clearly intending to deal with the impediment in their path, but with a sign of his arm, which was covered in scars to the point where it no longer resembled a human arm but rather an old rusted arm-shaped piece of metal, the young man requested the wolf not to interfere with the dragon, as he himself set himself forward to do so.

The man slowly opened his closed eyes and glared at the Fiery Dragon, who immediately assumed a submissive stance and walked away from them.

The Fiery Dragon was proud;

Stronger, older, bigger it didn't matter, he would never bend to any being. Yet in front of death, he did yield.

Those weren't the eyes of a living being; they were the eyes of death, the eyes of a reaper, and the fiery dragon was well aware of this.

Unimpeded by the fiery dragon obstruction, the pair continued on their journey until they arrived at their destination: the summit of a massive, sky-towering, seemingly dormant volcano.

With a determined voice, the young man peered within the volcano and declared, loudly and clearly,"Can you see it, Han?"

"Today, I came to uphold our promise: whatever the outcome of this battle, it will mark the end of our journey, and hopefully the start of our new one."

Without hesitation, he jumped into the volcano crater. And not even five seconds later, a column of fire erupted from the volcano, expelling the man almost instantly.

Tossed in the air, the man readapted in midair and landed unharmed next to the wolf.

A long, earth-shattering roar echoed from within the volcano, giving the impression that it was about to erupt at any moment.

They both looked in the direction of the crater.

The ground was shaking furiously.

A massive claw appeared on the crater's flange, and its owner gradually revealed himself.

Still dripping with lava, a majestic red and crystalline-scaled dragon the size of a small mountain appeared. On its head, two sets of horns on its back were something that one would assume must’ve once been a magnificent pair of wings, but now, there was nothing left of that beauty except some remnant of its past splendours.

"Mon…Mon… are…you… back. "

With no motion from her jaws, the dragon spoke in a rather feminine voice.

The dragon, as if having noticed something, stomped powerfully at the ground.

"That sword?! Where did you steal it from?!”

The man gave no answer to the dragon, instead, he just pointed his sword at the majestic dragon.

“Don’t you humans, consider him one of your Godsend? Why would you steal that is his!!”

“I did not steal it. I took it from his corpse.”

"I see, ... Greed, it is… Human! Your boldness, for wielding and pointing that sword at me, Amira, the Primordial Fire Dragon, and disturbing my slumber, is indeed admirable.”

“But that sword is not for you to wield, nor is my watchful slumber to be disturbed by you.

“Full of confidence and determination, the young man announced, not to the dragon but to himself, To witness that sight... to witness that light... Once more, I will slaughter everything that stands in my wake shall burn; whether it be humans, remnants, apostles, or a primordial dragon such as yourself. "

"Arrogance! ...Then brace yourself for a death fit for a fool blinded by his own arrogance and greed."

Thus began the battle between a man who was known for slaying the apostles and one of the world's most powerful beings.

Thus began the battle triggering the calamities.
