《Marauding Gods (First Draft)》Report on the event on the Twelfth full moon of the year 4009

The twelfth full moon of the year 4009, also known as the Night Ecarlate by the inhabitants of the Duchy of Beaumont, is one of the first omens of the great series of calamities that have plagued the human continent for the past seven years as of the redaction of this report.

The event is said to have occurred on a night on the southeast border of the continent, where the Duchy of Beaumont was eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Holy Paladin, Armand Aubrecht, at the duchy capital.

It is still unclear what exactly happened that night.

Locals reported that on the night of the year 4009's twelfth full moon, loud explosions and earthquakes were heard and felt from hundreds of kilometers toward the Iharana.

There are numerous rumors and theories about what happened that night, the most common of which is that an abnormally powerful monster or group of monsters passed through the barrier, causing the noise and rumbling, and that the Holy Paladins and Archbishops fought it, leaving the Rosetta plain nothing but a wasteland.

The second most popular theory is that what the Holy Paladins and Archbishops fought was a human, as there were rumors at the time that the Church was actively looking for a person whose identity was shrouded in complete mystery, earning that person the nickname "Faceless One" by those within the Church. An individual who, according to this theory, was strong enough to withstand an evenly fought battle against the Church's fourteen highest representatives: the Archbishop and the Holy Paladins.

Even among those who believe in this theory, one question remains unanswered and only vaguely theorized: "If a battle between the faceless one and the fourteen did indeed cause the chaos of the Night Ecarlate, then what happened to the former?"

Some believe he was offed; after all, what were the odds of anyone winning a fight against humanity's mightiest swords and shield?

Others believe the Faceless One survived the fourteen joint assaults but has gone into hiding, as he had for the previous nine years prior to the incident. This suggested that the Faceless One was behind the insurrection force that is the aristocracy.

Aside from these two theories, there are a slew of others floating around, some conspiratorial, some clearly based on people's wildest fantasies, but all these theories agree on one point: the 7 Archbishops and 7 Holy Paladins were at the center of the accident. It is commonly assumed that the fourteen were fighting someone or something that night and that their conflict was the catalyst for the Night Ecarlate.

Based on the vastness of the plain and the devastation caused atop, there was no doubt that a fight unlike any other had broken out in that location, formerly known as the Rosetta plain.

Though the reason for the fight, as well as the identity of what or who they fought, remains unclear, the consequence of the fight on the other side was very clear: the destruction of the barrier hovering over the southeast part of Beaumont.

A 50km radius of the human continent has been lost to the monster continent, a first in human history.

The invasion of the human continent by a horde of monsters from the Iharana Greatforest, which was quickly repelled due to the presence of the fourteen at the time of the event.

A significant mass exodus of residents from the Duchy's southeast territories to the northern and assumed safest part of the Duchy of Beaumont

In conclusion, despite the fact that the event was aledged brielf and almost casualityless as it occurred in a remote and unpopulated area of the duchy of the Beaumon, the Night Ecarlate could be perceived as a foreshadowing event to the Seven Great Calamities six years later, the calamity that erased the Duchy of Timbencourt, Florence, and Viermont from the Altaira Kingdom's map, as well as the destruction of hundreds of cities across the human continent.

The events of the Seven Great Calamities and the Night Ecarlate both had the effect of calling into question the Church's supremacy over four millennia, which might have, at its turn, kicked in the birth of a new era for humanity.
