Chapter 1293: 1293
Dyason, the envoy of the Dwarf Kingdom, gave the important ministers and the king, Odin, a detailed report on everything that had happened in the Tower of Dusk.
Initially, the Dwarf Kingdom was extremely annoyed that Dyason had been left alone in the Tower of Dusk for more than two months, and some of the war-supporters even suggested that they resort to force again. However, after listening to Dyason’s account, they immediately fell silent, especially when they heard how terrifying Lin Li’s strength was.
Dyason was a Sanctuary powerhouse whose strength was already at level-27, yet he was frightened into losing his composure by a mere gaze from President Felic’s eyes. How powerful can that President Felic be? they wondered. Everyone looked at Odin from the Dwarf Kingdom, and thought that perhaps he was the only one who would know.
However, after a long silence, Odin the king of the Dwarfs shook his head helplessly, and said in a somewhat low voice, “According to Dyason, I’m afraid that President Felic’s strength has already reached the edge of Godhood!”
After hearing King Odin’s words, the glimmer of hope that the several of them had vanished. Perhaps they might think that Dyason wasn’t powerful enough to have a say, but no one dared to doubt Odin’s judgment. The Dwarf King Odin, who was always known as the strongest warrior of the dwarves, already had strength that was at the peak of the Sanctuary-realm. Thus, his words were naturally much more convincing.
.
“Could it be that we can only bow down to the Tower of Dusk?” someone asked indignantly.
“It’s just a matter of pride. As long as we can get the construction method of the Sky-breaker, it’ll be worth it regardless of what price we have to pay,” Odin, the king of the dwarves, said.
In fact, Lin Li’s suggestion was rather fair for both parties. The Dwarf Kingdom would send craftsmen over to cooperate with the Tower of Dusk to build the Sky-breaker. That way, the Tower of Dusk would be able to obtain Sky-breaker, while the Dwarf Kingdom would get the creation method, which was considered a win-win solution.
However, the Dwarf Kingdom had been too prideful previously, and they kept thinking that the blueprint of Sky-breaker should belong to them, and that the Tower of Dusk should be returning the blueprint to them unconditionally. They would at most give Lin Li some gifts to thank him. They couldn’t possibly let Lin Li threaten them into a cooperation.
However, it now seemed that the Dwarf Kingdom would come up empty-handed. None of them were fools, and they all knew that the mysterious young president of the Tower of Dusk wasn’t someone whom they could deal with on their own.
After reaching such a consensus, no one suggested using force again, and they instead handed over the list of craftsmen to the Tower of Dusk. After all, even if the dwarves were straightforward, they wouldn’t be willing to let just one clan have the construction method of the Sky-breaker. Hence, the name list led to another round of discussion.
It took two days for the major dwarven clans to come up with an outcome. According to the size and population of the clans, each clan selected a corresponding number of elite craftsmen, and grouped them together to cooperate in the Tower of Dusk.
Among the craftsmen, there were senior blacksmiths and forging masters, all of whom were talents from various clans. After all, the Dwarf Kingdom wanted to master the construction method of the Sky-breakers, so naturally the more competent ones were more confident.

Hence, more than 20 days later, the Dwarf Kingdom’s team of craftsmen arrived at the Tower of Dusk, which they had to bow down to, under Dyason’s lead.
Although Lin Li had already entered Geresco’s Meditation Land at this moment, Gavin and others had already prepared the construction site for the Sky-breaker, just as Gavin had instructed. Besides, Lin Li had also left a special notebook covering some of the issues that they might encounter when building it.
Lin Li was a Smithing Guru. In fact, if he had enough time, he could have built the Sky-breakers on his own. However, it would take ages, so he needed the Dwarf Kingdom’s cooperation.
In the beginning, Dyason was rather worried because, after all, the kingdom’s attitude was hostile towards the other party at first, and they even wanted to threaten the Tower of Dusk with force. According to his understanding of the young president of the Tower of Dusk, he knew that he definitely wasn’t willing to suffer any losses.
However, when Dyason brought his team to the Tower of Dusk, he discovered that the latter weren’t as harsh towards them in terms of hospitality, nor did they make things hard for them. Of course, there wasn’t a lively welcome ceremony. At the very least, the treatment that the Tower of Dusk had given them was clearly inferior to what the other forces had given them in other places.
Fortunately, before bringing his team there, Dyason had already instructed all the craftsmen in advance, so none of the craftsmen of the Dwarf Kingdom had stood out to complain. Actually, dwarves were not too concerned about other aspects as long as they had enough ale to drink, because the other aspects didn’t really matter to them, even if they had to stay in pigsties.
Without giving the dwarven craftsmen much time to rest, Gavin brought the construction plan of the Sky-breaker over, and began delegating the tasks with Dyason’s assistance.
Lin Li divided the construction plan of the Sky-breaker into a few steps. Thus, even though the dwarven craftsmen had never built a Sky-breaker before, they could build a real one as long as they adhered strictly to the steps of the plan and the instructions. It was actually similar to the production at an assembly line. Hence, it helped with increasing the speed of construction.
After the Smithing Master Dyason got hold of that plan, he got a great shock because he could tell from the plan that Lin Li’s attainments in the field of forging had reached a shocking extent.
At this moment, Dyason recalled the investigation that he had made on the Tower of Dusk previously. Apart from potions, another mainstay of the Tower of Dusk’s business was the forging of magical weapons and magical equipment. Besides, the magical weapons that the Tower of Dusk produced were all famous among humans, and in fact, they were starting to overtake the Dwarf Kingdom’s position in the market of magical equipment.
Although equipment wasn’t the main business of the Dwarf Kingdom, the sales proceeds of fine Master-level equipment would usually be on par with the income from selling hundreds and thousands of pieces of equipment. However, it was undeniable that the quality of the system equipment was still a crucial factor in determining one’s competency in forging. At the very least, the Tower of Dusk had a good grasp of the concept.
In the beginning, Dyason and the senior managerial executives of the Dwarf Kingdom thought that the cooperation with the Tower of Dusk was just meant for obtaining the construction method of the Sky-breaker, but now Dyason had a vague feeling that what he and the others could obtain from this cooperation seemed to be far beyond that.

With the construction of the Sky-breaker, the Tower of Dusk could be said to be progressing in all three projects, namely the transformation of the Sky Castle, the construction of the Sky-breaker, and the large-scale construction of battleships at the coastline.
Even though the Tower of Dusk ruled the Breezy Plains, and had a strong financial power in the past, they would have been overwhelmed by a three-prong revamp as such. However, with the huge resources of the Endless Abyss, none of the forces in the Breezy Plains dared to be a burden to the Tower of Dusk. Thus, all the construction processes were advancing in an orderly manner.
In the blink of an eye, a full year had passed since Lin Li entered the Meditation Land. In the past year, there had been huge progress in the ongoing projects of the Tower of Dusk in accordance with Lin Li’s instructions.
Firstly, the construction of the Sky Castle had already undergone a complete transformation under the massive support of huge resources. It had not only become more suitable for human manipulation, it was also significantly more powerful than before. Its power was beyond just a certain aspect, and there were drastic changes in all aspects.
In terms of the weapon system, Lin Li brought more than 2,000 Magical Crystal Cannons back from the Gilded Kingdom. Apart from a few hundred that were reserved for the future fleet of battleships, the rest were all installed on the Sky Castle. There were more than 1,000 Magical Crystal Cannons, and although it would be a bit exaggerated to say that they would be like 10,000 cannons firing together, the effects of a simultaneous firing of all Magical Crystal Cannons would still be rather daunting. The power of the Magical Crystal Cannons was undoubtedly massive, and perhaps even Sanctuary powerhouses wouldn’t dare to face more than 1,000 Magical Crystal Cannons.
Apart from the Magical Crystal Cannons, the Sky-breaker that the Tower of Dusk and Dwarf Kingdom built together was a powerful weapon that could destroy even the Sky Castles in the past. Its power definitely wasn’t inferior to that of a full-swing attack of a Sanctuary powerhouse.
If the dwarves had possessed the Sky-breaker after the war at the end of the Dark Age, the distribution of forces in Anril probably would have been different from what it was now.
In the past year, the dwarven craftsmen had built more than 20 Sky-breakers with their own efforts in accordance with Lin Li’s arrangement. Even in the opinion of the dwarven craftsmen who had participated in the construction themselves, such a speed was really incredible.
The envoy of the Dwarf Kingdom, Dyason, could already tell from this that Lin Li definitely had profound knowledge in the field of forging.
In addition, the craftsmen had inevitably faced all sorts of problems related to forging during the construction process. After all, it was their first time building the Sky-breaker. However, all Dyason had to do was ask Gavin, and he would very quickly get the answers to his questions. At one point, he almost thought that Gavin was the Smithing Guru.
Once, Dyason happened to see Gavin flipping through a thin notebook on the spot to look up some information after hearing Gavin’s question. Besides, when he asked about it tentatively, and heard that Gavin didn’t have the slightest intention to hide anything, he knew that the notebook was naturally from Lin Li.
The young President Felic turns out to be a Smithing Guru! After learning about that news, Dyason felt like he was in an illusion.
Even in the Dwarf Kingdom, Smithing Gurus were rare, and even the Dwarf King Odin was only at the peak of the Master-level. However, a young human now actually had impeccable attainments in forging that would make the dwarves ashamed. If he hadn’t experienced it himself, Dyason probably wouldn’t have believed it to be true.
After learning of the situation, and especially after finding out that all the answers to his problems could be found in a tiny notebook, Dyason had no choice but to take his hat’s off to Lin Li.
The Magical Crystal Cannons and Sky-breaker were only a part of the Sky Castle weapon system. In addition, there was also a large number of mageweaths and mageweath arrays. The inscribers of the Octopus Clan that Lin Li had brought here with him had a large treasured collection of inscription notes, which were the very same ones that he had made when he was studying the Divine-Smith-level mageweath.
In order to study the mageweath left behind by the Immortal King, Lin Li had organized almost all the theoretical knowledge of inscription to a greater depth. In fact, the notes taken by the inscribers of the Octopus Clan were only a small portion of the content that Lin Li had casually written.
However, the inscription knowledge contained in the notebook was enough to make the inscribers of the Octopus Clan value it like a treasure. In fact, when reading the notes, they even washed their hands before going through each page carefully as if it was a pilgrimage.
With those notes, the tasks that Lin Li had delegated to the Octopus Clan proceeded smoothly. While completing those tasks, the inscribers of the Octopus Clan could clearly feel that their inscription attainments had improved by leaps and bounds.
In just a year’s time, the inscribers of the Octopus Clan set up tens of thousands of mageweaths and magic arrays in the Sky Castle. However, the level of the mageweaths of the mageweath arrays was not that high. They were basically at the advanced level or Master-level and above.
Of course, even though those advanced and Master-level mageweaths were enough to make everyone dumbfounded, they were not good enough for the Sky Castle that Lin Li had imagined. However, when Lin Li came out from the Meditation Land, he could completely combine these mageweaths and mageweath arrays through the special aspects that he had mastered, turning them into a terrifying existence that wasn’t inferior to Divine-Smith-level mageweaths.
When the time came, the massive power of these mageweaths of the Sky Castle would definitely not be any inferior to the Magical Crystal Cannons and Sky-breaker.
The Magical Crystal Cannons and Sky-breaker were considered long-range weapons of the Sky Castle, while the combined mageweaths drawn by the inscribers of the Octopus Clan were mid-range weapons. Thus the Sky Castle was equipped with both long-range and mid-range weapons, so they didn’t have to worry about any blind spots in their attacks.
With powerful means of attack came the need for greater power. Otherwise, once the Sky Castle faced a powerful enemy, they would only face a major loss when attacking the enemy. In fact, the Sky Castle might be destroyed by the enemy before it could even launch a powerful attack.

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.
