Chapter 779: Xuan Hang Passes On
Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation
Inside the extraterritorial land, the immortal devouring beast had previously gone on a rampage here. Although only a small area was affected, the commotion had been unprecedented.
The loose immortals had been frightened and they hid inside their caves, trembling and refusing to come out. They stayed inside even after the immortal devouring beast had left.
The remaining immortal sects in the area weren’t any better.
Actually, the immortal devouring beast had incidentally invaded an immortal sect when it was here and a massacre unfolded. Dozens of the sect’s immortals passed on as a result and the news spread out to the other immortals in the land.
Then, news of a half-human half-snake monster with a large spider in tow spread out as well. Some even said that the freakish monster was the renowned villainous profound immortal, Yan Shenjun.
The Mystery Dao Sect received this news rather quickly and prioritized the issue. After understanding the situation, Miao Yan Zhenren summoned all his disciples back at once.
“We are almost sure that it’s Yan Shenjun but it’s also shocking that he’s still alive.” Inside the Mystery Dao Sect, Miao Yan Zhenren was frowning hard. The other immortals in the room looked solemn as well.
The situation was different from what they expected.
If Yan Shenjun were alone, Miao Yan Zhenren could subdue him. Yet, the news said that Yan Shenjun had transformed. Not only had he become part snake and gained the appearance of a saint, but he could also control the heaven weaving spider. That wasn’t all either. It was Yan Shenjun who lured the immortal devouring beast here and he even survived a fight against it and successfully escaped.
What this represented frightened them.
Yan Shenjun had grown so powerful that perhaps even Miao Yan Zhenren was no match for him.
“If we can’t fight the enemy, it’s best we avoid confronting them,” Chen Xuankong said. Since he interacted with Lin Jin the most compared to the others, he was influenced by Lin Jin’s style.

They would fight if they could, but wouldn’t force things if they couldn’t. While there was life, there was hope. Such was the warning Lin Jin repeatedly gave him.
Miao Yan Zhenren nodded at this.
Sometimes one mustn’t insist on being a hero but retreat when the time called for it.
“But where should we go?” an immortal asked.
Miao Yan Zhenren already had an idea. There weren’t many places in the extraterritorial land where they could hide. Even if there was, it couldn’t compare to the place Lin Jin offered them.
The Unending Nature Landscape.
Lin Jin had left behind in the Mystery Dao Sect a Divine Cloud Passage to the Unending Nature Landscape. One of the reasons was so that he didn’t have to travel too far to get here, and the other reason was for it to serve as an emergency escape route.
With a hiding place secured, another person asked when they should evacuate. Miao Yan Zhenren said they would evacuate now.
He had minimal divination skills, and since just now, his eyelid had been twitching madly. He also felt uneasy so he decided not to waste time.
Fortunately, he had summoned his disciples back in advance so it didn’t take much time for them to move. They also carried their sect’s treasures and books along with them into the Unending Nature Landscape.
Miao Yan Zhenren’s premonition had been spot on.
Yan Shenjun was actually leading the heaven weaving spider and Patriarch Xue Pao to the Mystery Dao Sect at that moment.
If they hadn’t come across the Immortal Cloud Sect’s Xuan Yue Zhenren and Xuan Hang halfway through, they would have reached the Mystery Dao Sect long ago.
Xuan Yue Zhenren and Xuan Hang had been very unlucky to encounter Yan Shenjun who then set both of them as his target.
For no reasons other than him being hungry, and the fact that Lin Jin and the Immortal Cloud Sect were allies. So these two must be killed.

With this, the Mystery Dao Sect managed to escape instead.
Xuan Yue Zhenren had a high cultivation level that was comparable to Miao Yan Zhenren’s—she might be even stronger. She was also one of the top few expert immortals in the extraterritorial land. Or rather, she was the strongest in the area.
Prior to this, it wouldn’t have taken much effort for her to defeat Yan Shenjun. But now, she was heavily wounded after just one attack.
Xuan Hang panicked at this sight. He was only a half immortal so he was obviously inferior to Xuan Yue, what more Yan Shenjun. Yet, he couldn’t just watch his beloved die right in front of his eyes.
He knew a spell called Thousand Mile Teleportation.
It wasn’t an easy spell to perform but was a premium escape spell. He would need to cast it with an amulet and the amulet wasn’t easy to craft.
Xuan Hang only had one left with him.
In other words, if he wanted to escape, even the immortal devouring beast couldn’t catch him, much less Yan Shenjun. However, Xuan Hang didn’t feel the impulse to escape at all. He took out the amulet and stuck it on Xuan Yue Zhenren.
The last image Xuan Yue Zhenren saw was her junior’s smiling face.
Pure and clean, he looked just like he was several thousand years ago when he entered the Immortal Cloud Sect in his youth.
Lights streamed past and Xuan Yue Zhenren was instantly teleported to the Immortal Cloud Sect.
She was stunned before she digested what just happened.
Xuan Yue Zhenren already knew what would happen. Her junior, Xuan Hang, gave her a chance at life while he chose death.
The Immortal Cloud Sect was quite far away so they had enough time to evacuate. Yan Shenjun had barged into the Mystery Dao Sect with a thirst for blood but ended up seeing the place already emptied upon his arrival. He destroyed the sect out of fury and then rushed to the Immortal Cloud Sect, but that too was empty.
In other words, his goal wasn’t achieved.
In his rampage, Yan Shenjun began slaughtering indiscriminately and no one could stop him. Many loose immortals got caught by him and were swallowed alive, dying tragic deaths.
However, the Mystery Dao Sect and Immortal Cloud Sect were saved. They all hid inside the Unending Nature Landscape.
Xuan Yue Zhenren was filled with grief but she pulled herself together to discuss countermeasures with Miao Yan Zhenren. No doubt, Yan Shenjun’s current cultivation level had surpassed unfettered immortal level.
Even the Immortal Cloud Sect’s Rank 8 storm beast couldn’t stand up to him.
If it actually did, it would most definitely be killed by Yan Shenjun. That, Miao Yan Zhenren and Xuan Yue Zhenren knew very well.
“It’ll be the same even if Lin Jin is here. He can’t fight Yan Shenjun and we must inform him about this,” Miao Yan Zhenren said, looking worried.
“How did Yan Shenjun gain a saint’s aura? The Heavens know no justice!” an immortal exclaimed through bloodshot eyes. He was an Immortal Cloud Sect disciple. Now that they had lost Xuan Hang, the entire sect was furious. Yet, they were too weak to seek revenge against Yan Shenjun.
Good thing Yan Shenjun didn’t know of the Unending Nature Landscape’s existence nor could he find the place. Otherwise, the immortals would lose their last safe haven.
They had no other option but to wait for a discussion with Lin Jin. Problem was, they couldn’t find him.
Because at that moment, Lin Jin was in the Nine-Heaven Realm, advancing Xiao Huo’s rank.
So unless Lin Jin entered the Unending Nature Landscape on his own, even Shu Xiaolou couldn’t contact him otherwise.

What seems like an innocent game trope turns into a nightmare. This is a story of tragedy and the path to ultimate power. All in the hopes of an uncertain survival. _________ This fiction has NOT been abandoned. I made a haughty promise earlier to not worry because I'll continue this series, and with things lately, I've only proved myself a liar. Further promises dwindled, and I've lost trust. So many things have been going on recently that I've been booked. I will refrain from making any future guarantees or promises as my busy schedule will stay with me for a long long while. Time for me to actually spend on writing and revising won't appear until at the least November 19. I won't say expect that's when I'll restart, but you can expect expecting it to maybe happen. That's really shallow. But with everything going on, I've let my small reading base down. I apologize. I still stick by my statement though that I won't abandon this project. I plan to stick it to the end, no matter the delay. Most importantly, thank you everyone; readers who both like and dislike my work. I appreciate your time spent on my dumb imagination. Stay toasty my readers in this winter season. Cheers. UPDATE: We're back on track. Thank you for your patience. Any future readers, heyo! Glad you're here. UPDATE 2: So far it's been 21 days since I last uploaded a chapter. The best thing done for any fiction, no matter how good it is, is that it continues, and I have a bad history with that. 1 fiction on hiatus and already more delays with less than 20 chapters in this fiction. I've been very preoccupied with adding more things to do in my life rather than actually committing to any particular thing. That applies primarily to this. I cannot abandon this, as busy as my future looks and will look as I get busier and busier. Someday, I hope, I will be able to sit down and just write. just. write. But for now, I ask for patience. I suppose I'm glad this fiction hasn't picked up so that I don't disappoint too many people if any really. But I need to commit and it's going to happen sometime and sometime soon. No more flowery words. I'll see you later. UPDATE 3: It's very evident I won't be able to pick up this story for a while. With AP Testing, competitions, and other things I am busier than ever. But I must complete this fiction. I have too. Until next time. UPDATE 4: It is now the summer. I owe everyone an apology. Chances are, nobody's around to see this, and that is okay. I only blame myself for this sort of brokenness of a fiction, not that it is actually that bad but I am just exaggerating it for dramatic effect. But what's not exaggerated is the severity of my broken promise. I apologize for my naive claims about finishing a novel that I couldn't finish and that I didn't have the discipline to finish. Nor the skills, really, I was and am still an immature writer. What is to place now? I want to make it clear I understand this is my fault. I will man up to this. And I will accept any criticism. I understand I messed up. Reading Stephen King's On Writing made it clear to me that I need to do two things:Read lots. And write lots.I have done neither. If I don't have the time to read often, how do I expect to write? I need to become more experienced. I need to become a serious writer. So if I want to dream of continuing, I need to at least fulfill both requirements. I enjoy writing. I haven't written seriously outside of school in a while. I planned to write this summer and finish this. I made a lot of promises that I didn't keep.So there's that. I won't enact any self-pity, or be foolishly obsessed. What I did was wrong, and I must deal with it. I let down readers. And I apologize.I hope I can find forgiveness. This is a writer's sin.I won't promise I'll finish this. I intend to finish this, at some point, because writing is fun and I want to write. But how things are don't reflect that. Maybe I'll finish this at some point. Maybe I won't. I won't be naive to make that promise.I thank everyone who has read this if this is the end. If not, and hopefully not, I thank everyone who is to read future chapters. I thank everyone who allowed me to live in the miniscule little dream of mine as I passed my days. I thank everyone who cares enough to read this. Until next time, peace everyone. Thank you. You are all great readers and great people. I wish everyone the best in whatever reading/writing endeavors follow you henceforth.

But eventually the tragedy reached him. And when it did... it left a broken man, who was tired of the world and it's circumstances. He took things into his own hands. He would change the world. But this story isn't about that. For after all was done, the man dying peacefully on his own terms, he would have a new life ahead of him. Now unbound by attatchments and responsibility, in a completely new world for him to explore, he would make sure his new life didn't end up like the last one. This fiction won't be updated regularly due to my own circumstances and while I will try to update it often, I won't always be able to. That being said I hope you enjoy this little work of mine. I'm not an experienced, and don't consider myself a good author in any way. But hopefully some people will enjoy this fiction like I do writing it, regardless of that.
